how's your hand where up with your hand great it's like it never happened just have a cool star now so yeah out of the club got a little pad there but um really happy with how fast it came along and you know I reached my goal of no Club week one so feeling great about it sorry I know you uh do you do you sense that guys think about that Raiders game last year I know had the the injury but uh do do you sense that at all that there's some added motivation to an already you know rivalry game uh yeah I mean I guess you can you could always use the past as some motivation but uh I'd like to think we're all motivated enough about this year and you know wanting to win this year that you know it doesn't really matter who lines up across us um obviously division games are huge but you know you all know in this game uh every single game is huge and it can be you know the the game that makes or breaks a good season so I'm just ready to play it doesn't matter who it is uh like I said division game always always big but um I think no matter who who we would play first game of the year Coach Harbaugh uh all these new changes and things going on I think it's it's a huge deal Joey what do you seeing Gardner mchu when you see him on tape yeah he's uh a playmaker able to extend plays with his feet um really really good rolling out to his right able to you know snap and and make some throws uh good at extending plays um yeah he's a playmaker like I said and he's uh somebody that we're going to have to try to keep in the pocket and uh you know not let let uh him hurt us with his feet and uh try to try to make him pass from the pocket so I mean that's uh usually my answers are that every week uh it's controlling the quarterback at least my job uh you know being able to affect them and try to keep them in the pocket and and minimize those uh big plays downfield when you when you first heard it did you hit it on Stafford's Helmet or no I was just rushing and my hand got in a really weird leverage position and it just went very weird but um it it's uh would say it's about 95% a little little painful here and there but all my strength and everything is is great and so obviously hand usage is very important to the position that you play so you you mentioned that there's you know steel plates in it or Hardware I think you said yeah like you don't you're not worried about getting into a weird leverage position again uh no it's way stronger than it ever was so yeah I've I have very strong plates holding my bones together which are also probably all calcified around those plates by now um so I told doc can you just put one on everyone every bone in my body yeah but yeah yeah so that would have been nice but probably a little more than a two week recovery time but um maybe next offseason I'll look into it um just with khil when he first got here did you anticipate that that you guys would become as close like off the field as as friends as you guys have become um no I guess you never really have those expectations you you hope to have a good relationship and to not you know Clash uh with our personalities and all that um but I mean he's one of the easiest guys to get along with really laidback um great leader a lot of interesting knowledge and and stuff when you pick his brain outside of football so it's just uh it's really been a shame to not be able to you know get that chemistry going for more games that with everything that's gone gone on over the last couple years but um I'm really looking forward to this year I'm happy to get another shot uh I think us both coming back shows what we want uh want to win we want to play on a great team together and uh we we feel that there's something special that can be forged here um but yeah he's um I'm grateful to have him in my life and uh hopefully we can have at least one great year but maybe maybe a couple more if it does come together this year for you guys as far as like both being able to stay in the field having the production and then like what you're talking about having that that team success do you think it'll be sweeter because of the relationship that you guys have sort of cultivated off the field over the last three years yeah I think that's you know the whole team and uh a big aspect of kind of being a team loving one another doing team bonding not just being work buddies that you show up go home Do Your Own Thing uh you know bud bud had to speak in front of the room whatever how however long ago and he's like he's looking forward to kids coming up to him and calling him Uncle Bud and you know having relationships with with your with your teammates and not just them but their family their kids and uh it just that Bond you know strengthens uh your motivation for playing it's not you know it's not all about you it's not all about your family it's if I mess up here you know I'm letting down um Everybody um so I mean I think that's kind of preached and a goal on every team that anyone's ever a part of so um yeah obviously the more time you get to spend together uh the closer we get and I think the coaches are doing a good job of harping on that and making sure that uh especially the the ex players that have come in uh uh uh coach Bowman has talked about it a bunch like these are your brothers and and it's really important to to grow that Bond so when bullets start falling on Sunday you know you're you're really willing to maybe not die for one another but you're willing to push it close to that to that level but um yeah um and obviously you start winning a few games it's kind of easier for that that bond to grow and get tighter start losing you know fingers pointing blah blah blah this and that you've seen it all but um I'm just excited hopefully to to get off on a on a good start with the preseason training camp all behind how confident are you feeling in your new DC Jess's system and is there anything that has been so dramatically different under under him no no at this point it's mostly just new names for things little tweaks to techniques that I've done uh before but yeah I feel very confident in you know every coach uh on the staff he's a great leader he takes command in in in the defensive room and he's very straight to straight to the point uh doesn't sugarcoat things and I think he gets his message across well and he does a good job uh along with every coach in the room uh you know making sure we're all on the same page on what we want to accomplish as a defense so um obviously we get more time um it'll get Tighter and Tighter and Tighter and uh nothing's like actually getting those game reps so it's it'll probably might hopefully we come out flying but you know there might always be that tentative first few plays and then we were're counting on one of us to make a big play and then just start rolling from there where you at uh conditioning wise after you know missing obviously a bunch of training camp um it's it's hard to truly know until you're out there on Sunday but I've been pushing it I pushed it really hard this week yesterday was a real long day it's been pretty hot last couple days um so I've been really making a point to to run to the ball um just getting a little extra running every chance I can every chance I can get on on plays and stuff but uh it's there's really nothing like Sunday and having to play for real at that next gear um and there's always going to be moments where you're where you're tired out there but overall I'm feeling really good in peace of mind knowing that you guys basically have a second line of you know Tulie and and Bud so if you are huffing and puffing at some point like you're not there's not massive drop off yeah it's huge it's huge um if there is any drop off at all to be able to have guys like that which I've mentioned is like having two sets of starters out there because those two guys can go to a bunch of other teams and probably end up being a starter on the team uh you know Bud's done it for a long time and tuli's always just improving getting better so uh we're really going to have each other's backs out there um we're really going to stay locked in on what the O linemen are doing against each other and we're really just going to try to uh bring four guys together and and try to get the most out of it you know talking about the heat what do the coaching staff kind of said to you guys or prepared you guys for this hot on that well it's been quite nice out here it's uh a little cooler than um Orange County so we haven't had any super hot days but you know the last two it's been warm but it's all the all the usual hydration um make sure you're taking care of your body this and that cuz it it starts now um few days out from the game you got to hydrate now cuz if you start you know Sunday morning it's going to be too late by then but um you know it's not it's not the hottest thing ever it's uh South Florida yeah it's when we're out Carolina so that'll be nice and cool um not but yeah it's it's it's a factor but um it's always hot with the turf but the sun shouldn't be beating on the turf and Sofi too bad so uh just always I mean we're always trying to hydrate right so if you're just starting now you're probably a little far behind
