[Music] now let's move on to our third topic which is the thinning of the running back room so we saw the Michael perine was released by the Chiefs this was during this uh summer be before even the 90 man roster needs build out even when you need a bunch of running backs just to play preseason uh so that that brought into question do we think the Chiefs are going to bring back jet McCannon or do we just think that they're totally fine with the three running backs that they have on their roster currently so I okay I start with this one all right as of now we have Isaiah Pacho CL Edwards hair and then if we're going into like what we had in the preseason last year generic brce and then we bring our International guy and Lis wasam and then of course we have Carson Steel who is a undrafted free agent but it looks like he's going to be probably playing in that fullback role and I believe we have one more guy as well too who was an undrafted free agent probably just going to be a preseason body and end up being gone I would be o uh honestly it gives us a better chance of actually bringing back Jake mcken in my opinion to be honest uh just because I mean he kind of dealt with this last off season as well too I think we resigned him a little bit later towards the season and I think this might be a similar situation uh with his age at 31 years old uh not you know being a rentb back as well too that and at that age we know that the career for them you know is typically done uh we saw one of one of the best running backs during his time Todd Gurley not even make it to his 30s as a running back like haven't been signed back at all uh in this case with him being a part of a championship team being part of two of those Super Bowls as well too he has a little bit more leeway but just because he understand the system and he was never taking away reps from Isaiah Pacho anyway or even Clyde they were all able to share that back field and he was just that veteran guy who was able to mentor and you know motivate them as well you see he he you see he had a lot of fun with them on the sideline as well I think he understood and respected the role that he had so that's why I'm not fine with bringing him back because if you can bring that same intensity you didn't even play most of the season last year and you came in moments and you made big plays and that's all we need it's going to be ran through Isaiah PCO and Clyde in my opinion anyway so whoever you have at that third uh down running back spot or that third running back spot I'm okay with it but Vin Reed might be like nah I think let's just go ahead and see what the youth does for us because we have done done this in previous years as well we didn't try to we bring back like souring for one year we didn't did it with other guys as well too uh who came in and then it's like you just here because we just need that Assurance but after seeing that you weren't really that significant in that last run that we had and we won a Super Bowl uh L go ahead and go see if you what see what you can do and we'll be fine with that uh but you know either way it goes I think the Chiefs will be fine and that's why I leave it at I'm not trying to be like this neutral guy all the time who saying that but the spot that the Chiefs in roster wise at some of the POS in some of the position groups really just adding bodies is just just more value it's not going to do anything to it and we didn't seen in previous years where we BR in the LeSean McCoy or even Le'Veon Bell yeah we give you a chance to you know showcase because we might have these guys arrested for a game due to an injury or anything like that but then you prove us wrong why yeah we should have just gone ahead and just not even signed you back really we just adding you on to this to this playoff run try to get you a ring before you get out of the NFL and it really that's what we were trying to do with Le'Veon as well too now he ha us and he was probably Pro uh promis something else I understand we're sorry we was just trying to show some love and but the relationship with jet is not going to be like that because I already been a part of this I know what y'all doing y'all didn't told me this already before if I so if I choose to come back I'm just doing it just to be a part of an organization and just kind of like just stroll my way through until you know it's it's just I'm really ready to go and why not add rings on to it as well too so it just depends on how the organization feel and it's going to come I think it's going to come to like just seeing what's going on in train training camp and seeing like uh let's go ahead and give him a call I think I might want to just go ahead and bring him back because really I don't think his Market is that heavy so the Chiefs can really sit on this and wait for a while and just see what's going on and see what they have when it comes to you know the mandatory OTAs and then of course training camp in Late July and everything like that before preseason yeah and I'm I'm not gonna go on to say um that they don't this is not to bring him this isn't to bring him back um because I don't know if um he comes back at the beginning of the season but I think he may be a midseason or late season acquisition um being on how the that running back room shapes out and how God stay healthy we know that is a position that um it is very hard to stay healthy at Andy Reid is pretty good at rotating his guys um and I feel like jet has been hurt in the past which hasn't really gave them that ability to really be able to rotate three guys in there which I think they are really really wanting and kind of missing at that running back position um so being especially being the guys get dinged up and you're taking so many hits um which is why I think they went the younger route this year um not as many hits not not as many mouths on the body um probably somebody that can stick around and play in there be healthy with all three guys have all three guys up and be able to really rotate guys there but um I think U I don't want to count him out I don't want to say that this um wasn't to make space for him um but I just think it's not going to happen anytime soon um and but that's not to say that it can't happen um later during the season or in the future um because I definitely think Isaiah pcho will be running back one and him and Clyde will be splitting a lot of snaps in there um but I don't I I don't we don't know how running back two shapes up um and where they go from there but um I think he may be a late late season acquisition or mid-season acquisition just depending on how the injuries in the running back room shakes up uh I I think we can probably stop talking about jet McKinnon because the writing is on the wall the Chiefs value Clyde Edwards Air enough to resign him back and we know that he's going to be the backup and at this point he's okay with being the chief backup as soon as Isaiah Pacheko was drafted he took the stting spot and Clyde started relegating to the backup rle and honestly I think Clyde excels more in that role without having all of the uh pressure and circumstances needing success around him so I I think McKinnon is probably no longer on the chief's radar anymore and no no more is that evident by giving Exavier worthy the number one Jersey if you had thoughts that McKinnon was coming back why would you give away his jersey number maybe it's not the same as micole Hardman where you know the number's gone so you just give them whatever number's there they are they Value Jet mckinon enough to bring him back several times and and let him continue to have that same number but I think with Xavier worthy coming in and the fact that McKinnon was dealing with injuries a lot last season and did not get to see the uh big boost in stats like he had the year prior to that didn't have as much success in the postseason as he had in recent years I think the Chiefs know the the value of running backs or lack thereof in most cases and they just want to throw as many young fast bodies at the position as possible we know the the top two and the rest of the unknown players the uh rugby player the undrafted free agent running backs the practice squad running backs they all can fend for that third spot but I'm pretty sure the Chiefs are content with going into a regular season game which just Pacho and Edwards elair and just going with two now we as fans might not agree with that and we may think that you need as many bodies as possible because of the nature of the running back role and position but I think the Chiefs have decided that they've got their two starters obviously one and then backup and whoever earns the third spot earns it and whether or not they're actually on the 53 man roster for every single NFL game uh remains to be seen but I think this also signals that even though we really like when the Chiefs are run heavy uh the Chiefs bread and butter is a passing game with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid Andy Reid is going to choose a Passover run any day of the week no matter the situation so I think we need to be familiar with that concept again last year was kind of an anomaly because of the nature of how the passing game was for very longar stretches of last season but the the Chiefs live and die with the pass so they're thinking is they don't need the that many running backs and they don't need the quote most talented running backs they just need bodies if the inj injes start piling up like you mentioned before so I I think this does signal that two running backs during the regular season is most feasible option the Chiefs are going with and bringing up a third running back from the practice squad if the roster shakeup uh deems it necessary and if they go with Carson still as a fullback as well too technically you still have three running backs because he used to get in the back field and carrying ball as well so either way it goes like we know that the position is not as important for the Kansas City Chiefs and uh Lonnie had talked about it a lot before as well too who's to say that they don't try to put cadarius in that Debo row where you know you might be in the back room uh backfield sometimes as well too to excel his potential so uh Anything Can Happen um I think I just want I I wouldn't mind jet mckinon back that's all like if they were to say like hey come back I wouldn't be mad so be it we're not losing anything if we come back no I don't think Andy Reid is I I think last season was a signal that the fullback is officially dead or at least in the Andy Reed offense as last year was the first year that he chose not to carry one and we talked that maybe one of the backup tight ends would end up playing that role so I I think ultimately we're we're done carrying a fullback on a roster or somebody that is Titans was wasn't great at fullback position last year though we tried to do a lot of quarterback sneaks it didn't work anything like that wasn't perfect sometimes you might feel like hey like who knows like it may be needed you're right anything's possible we'll see in the training camp right we'll see how it goes and I think like you said Carson still I think will bring another element speed um to that position like he play running back so Andy Reid likes mismatches anyway he can get a mismatch so that means putting a fullback that play running back me running back play full running back and fullback then we're going toe just getting athletes like you know he's big strong and he can move as well too like if we want him to really be running back okay so be it if we want him to be fullback when we want to just go into our formation and just stack the Box we can do that as well too that's pretty much it he just want a jack of all trades be able to do everything Andy Reed is a creative mind if he finds value in you on this roster in any way he'll carry it we we can discuss later as regular games are are rolling around in NFL competition whether the rugby player ends up making the roster in any way but uh if Andy Reed sees value in you as a as an athlete and there's a roster spot for you he'll he'll try to find a spot for you and and make room sure to like And subscribe and
