ALEXANDER. WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE WITH US ON THIS FRIDAY. I'M BEN HOOVER, LOCAL SCHOOL SYSTEMS WE'RE LEARNING HAVE INCREASED THEIR SECURITY TO GET INTO FOOTBALL GAMES TO MAKE THE FANS STUDENTS AND THE PLAYERS FEEL SAFE. MADISON COUNTY SCHOOLS REQUIRE ALL FANS AND STUDENTS TO ENTER THROUGH WHAT THEY CALL OPEN GATE WEAPON DETECTION SYSTEMS ALONG WITH A FEW OTHER RULES, NEWS NINETEEN'S AND WHAT TO BOOK OR IN HIGH SCHOOLS. FIRST GAME TONIGHT TO SEE THE SECURITY PROTOCOL IN ACTION. PAYNE, WAS IT A SMOOTH PROCESS FOR FANS? >> TAMIKA BEND, THE PROCESS WAS PRETTY SMOOTH. IN FACT, IT LOOKED A LOT LIKE THE SECURITY PROTOCOL. WHEN I WENT TO ALABAMA FOOTBALL GAMES IN TUSCALOOSA, THE DETECTION SYSTEMS AND RULES ON WHAT YOU CAN'T BRING IN OUR SIMPLY MEANT FOR EVERYONE TO FEEL SAFE AND SECURE IN THE STADIUM. WHILE MADISON COUNTY SCHOOLS HAS A LIST OF FOOTBALL SAFETY PROTOCOLS THAT APPLIES TO ALL SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT. THEY DO ALLOW INDIVIDUAL SCHOOLS TO TAKE ADDITIONAL STEPS THEY DEEM NECESSARY AS LONG AS THOSE STEPS ARE REASONABLE. SOME RULES INCLUDE ANY STUDENT THAT CANNOT SHOW A DRIVER'S LICENSE MUST BE WITH AN ADULT AT THE GAME. AND FANS CANNOT BRING IN A LARGE BAG UNLESS IT'S NEEDED FOR MEDICAL OR PARENTAL PURPOSES. THERE ALSO IS A HEAVIER POLICE PRESENCE AT ALL GAMES AS AN EXTRA MEASURE. THE SCHOOL SYSTEM SAYS PARENTS, STUDENTS AND FANS HAVE BEEN RECEPTIVE AND OPEN TOWARDS THE SAFETY CHANGES. >> AND SO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN THEY GET IT'S NOT A SURPRISE TO ANYONE AND THEY USED TO IT OTHER IT'S ON ME TO GO TRASH GAME. SO IT'S ONE OF THOSE THINGS WHERE THEY'RE PRETTY ACCUSTOMED TO. >> THE SCHOOL SYSTEM SAID THESE PROTOCOLS ARE TO PROMOTE SAFETY AND DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM BRINGING ANYTHING THEY SHOULDN'T INTO THE STADIUM. ADDING THAT THERE WAS NOT A SPECIFIC INCIDENT THAT CAUSED THE INCREASE IN SECURITY. MADISON COUNTY SCHOOLS HAVE USED DETECTION SYSTEMS AT EVERY SCHOOL ENTRY POINTS SINCE 2022.
