TO YOU ALL RIGHT. >> THANK YOU SO MUCH. >> THANK YOU. JIM, BREAKING NEWS THIS MORNING. A BIG UPDATE HERE. ONE PERSON HAS NOW DIED AFTER A SHOOTING AT THE WEST INDIAN AMERICAN DAY PARADE IN BROOKLYN. FOUR OTHERS RECOVERING THIS MORNING. >> TOMASETTI IS IN CROWN HEIGHTS THIS MORNING. WHAT DO YOU KNOW? GABRIELLA? >> YEAH, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AN UPDATE. ROSANNA AND DAN, GOOD MORNING TO BOTH OF YOU. WE'RE GETTING WORD FROM POLICE THAT THE 25 YEAR OLD MAN WHO WAS SHOT IN THE ABDOMEN YESTERDAY, RIGHT ALONG THIS PARADE ROUTE, HAS DIED. WE'RE TOLD HE WAS INITIALLY IN CRITICAL CONDITION, THEN STABILIZED, BUT THEN PASSED AWAY LATER DUE TO COMPLICATIONS AND POLICE DO HAVE A SUSPECT DESCRIPTION AT THIS POINT. THEY SAY THEY'RE LOOKING FOR A MAN IN HIS 20S WITH A SLIM BUILD WHO WAS LAST SEEN WEARING A BROWN SHIRT WITH PAINT STAINS AND A BLACK BANDANA. HE FIRED HIS GUN, ACCORDING TO POLICE, NUMEROUS TIMES INTO THAT CROWD, MEMBERS OF THE MASSIVE CROWD BEGAN RUNNING AWAY IN PANIC AND DUCKING FOR COVER. MUSIC DROWNED OUT THE BARRAGE OF GUNFIRE AT YESTERDAY'S WEST INDIAN DAY PARADE AFTER A GUNMAN SHOT FIVE PEOPLE LEAVING A 25 YEAR OLD MAN DEAD. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE SUSPECT IS STILL ON THE RUN. >> THIS WAS AN INTENTIONAL, INTENTIONAL ACT BY ONE PERSON TOWARDS A GROUP OF PEOPLE, ACCORDING TO THE NYPD. >> THE SHOOTING HAPPENED JUST AFTER 230 BETWEEN CLASSON AND FRANKLIN AVENUES. THE SUSPECT ALLEGEDLY GOT ON A CEMENT DIVIDER BETWEEN THE SERVICE ROAD AND THE PARADE ROUTE AND OPENED FIRE ON A CROWD OF REVELERS, COPS SAY. A 69 YEAR OLD WOMAN WAS HIT IN THE SHOULDER. A 64 YEAR OLD MAN WAS STRUCK IN THE ARM, A 36 YEAR OLD MAN IN THE HEAD, A 25 YEAR OLD IN THE ABDOMEN AND A 16 YEAR OLD IN THE ARM. THE MAN WHO WAS SHOT IN THE ABDOMEN LATER DIED FROM HIS INJURIES. THE OTHER VICTIMS ARE LISTED IN STABLE CONDITION. >> THERE IS AN ABUNDANCE OF VIDEO THAT WAS ON THAT CORNER IN THAT GROUP. >> THIS SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE FROM A NEARBY BUSINESS SHOWS THE CHAOS AS IT UNFOLDED. YOU CAN SEE A GROUP OF PEOPLE RUNNING AWAY FROM THE GUNFIRE WITH SEVERAL OFFICERS HEADING IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. POLICE BELIEVE THE SHOOTING FOLLOWED SOME SORT OF DISPUTE, BUT IT'S UNCLEAR WHO THE INTENDED TARGETS WERE. THE PARADE WENT ON AS SCHEDULED. DESPITE THE DISRUPTION, POLICE PLACED EVIDENCE MARKERS NEAR BULLET CASINGS AND SEARCHED FROM ABOVE USING DRONES, ALL WHILE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE CONTINUE TAKING PART IN THE FESTIVITIES. THE NYPD ANNOUNCED HEIGHTENED SECURITY MEASURES AHEAD OF THE EVENT, WHICH HAS BEEN MARRED BY VIOLENCE IN THE PAST. IN 2015, CORY GABAY, AN AIDE TO FORMER GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO, WAS SHOT AND KILLED DURING A GANG SHOOTOUT. IN 2016, TWO PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND SEVERAL OTHERS WERE INJURED IN MULTIPLE SHOOTINGS AND STABBINGS. LAST YEAR, AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE WERE SHOT AND ANOTHER PERSON WAS SLASHED IN THE ARM, AND NOW OFFICIALS HAVE VOWED TO HOLD THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS YEAR'S VIOLENCE ACCOUNTABLE. >> WE ARE GOING TO SOLVE THIS, BUT IT'S GOING TO TAKE A LOT OF WORK. >> SENATOR CHUCK SCHUMER MARCHED IN THE PARADE. HE POSTED ABOUT THE SHOOTING AFTER HEARING THAT IT HAPPENED. HE POSTED HIS EMOTIONS, HIS REACTIONS TO X, WRITING IN PART, THANK YOU TO OUR FIRST RESPONDERS ON THE SCENE. I PRAY FOR EVERYONE AFFECTED.
