Lions Injury News: James Houston RETURN? Sam LaPorta PRACTICED, Dan Campbell COTY? + Brad Holmes

all right folks we got the practice report coming out right now we're going to get into it so keep you updated on Detroit Lions news and rumors we're going to talk about obviously the injury report Dan Campbell Brad Holmes some some news that's what we're going to get into right now we're not even going to waste your time Jonah Jackson did not practice he's not going to be playing in this game not happening uh Chase Lucas does it uh does it matter no no practice for Frank rag now I expect it's rest he'll play on Sunday khif Raymond no practice this one could be interesting uh maybe he doesn't play we'll find out more tomorrow if he practices a little bit maybe but he could be uh maybe he's not ready yet limited practice Alex anzalone will play on Sunday same with Sam leapa Josh Reynolds and James Houston it's very interesting it says full practice there uh reports are right now that he he is very very close to returning um that is James Houston here from The Pride of Detroit article very close to returning for the Detroit Lions I think he's very close Lions defensive coordinator Glenn said on Thursday ahead of the teams NFC Championship game we want to protect the player from himself for the most part I do not take injuries lightly especially making sure that the medical Department to make sure that we use player exactly he needs to be along so he's done a really good job in practice you can tell he's getting back to form and to where he was and hopefully he'll get a chance to play in the field uh so look I think James Houston does play on Sunday um I think this this pretty much it feels like it's going to happen and that's huge because the Detroit Lions need all the help they can get getting to the pass the the passer getting to Brock pie on Sunday and I think look James Houston if he's ready you let him go but he's only going to be used on Third and Downs passing Downs that's all he'll be used on I mean you'll see him out there on on on passing Downs because that's where our issue is he'll probably get 10 to 15 snaps not a lot but it could be a lot if say it's a third and 14 and James Houston knocks Brock pry down right it means a lot because that's where we've having issues at is the third and Longs that is the the biggest issue for this football team so if we can get James Houston back this Sunday and it'll negate some of that issues on these third and Longs I think it's going to do the Lions Big Ben big benefits I mean literally one or two plays could make or lose the game that's how important it is when you're in the NFC Championship One play could make or do it two plays could really uh seal it like look if Green Bay gets catches that interception they win the game it's that close so having James Houston back to potentially knock a ball down or or take Brock pry down or force him to throw the ball a little bit early is vital it's vital toward this the Lions advancing to a Super Bowl so it's good news that he's very close to returning and what I also too like is the fact that the coaching staff doesn't do premature they wait till they're 100% And it's worked you know their idea of injuries has worked and they protect the player and I fully believe that too Lions general manager named NFL NFL executive of the Year by pfwa huge shout out to Brad Holmes and this is a lock for him to be executive of the year if he wasn't the ex executive of the Year there would have been some screw jobs going on he's clearly executive of the year with his master masterful class draft of this year and what he has done even though it just goes for this year everything accounts for what he has done since it's been here for three years he is uh the best general manager in Line's ever had he's the best evaluator of talent in a position to acquire Talent uh the in franchise history the guy knows how to find young players in the draft and he's good in free agency he's just Brad Holmes is an absolute stud in a certified G so if he wouldn't to have gotten this award it would have been a screw job it's simple as that by far he is the best one when you take your team to the NFC championship game when nobody expected you clearly overachieved and we have players like jir Gibbs Sam leapa Brian Branch Jack Campbell all participating at a high level and that's who you drafted this year in the rookies you get it period I mean we got three players that are going to the Pro bow basically it's it's it's it's crazy to see but uh you know all sorts of honors being thrown out there so he absolutely has deserved it uh Brad Holmes absolutely is the guy to get it done and it's very very uh cool to see it four finalists are named to NFL honors and of course the honors right here um is going to be Dan kemell for Coach that be the AP coach of the year so he's in the running for that I think he should win it I know demo Ryan is in there as well I'd give it to the Detroit Lions assistant coach of the year Ben Johnson he's in there as well I think uh Jim Schwarz will have an opportunity Ben Johnson probably should be assistant coach of the year now offensive rookies I'm happy that Sam leaport and jir Gibbs is in this list but absolutely no doubt CJ strad will be the Rookie of the Year that's just it's a right in it's going to happen he is like the Brad Holmes of players of doing a phenomenal job right like he is what he's done over there is absolutely absolutely stunning um and Dan Campbell he was named the coach of the Year by select to Media again I it's not the AP one but they named him Coach of the Year congratulations to uh Dan Campbell for for them it's not the AP one we'll figure that out I think it's the Super Bowl week um all the honors but he should be a finalist and probably should win it in my opinion but congratulations to Dan Campbell um in this coaching staff has done a phenomenal phenomenal job just getting this team prepared it is awesome it is awesome um and it's good to see Again Sam leapor will be playing there was no question to me that um Sam leapor would not be playing in this game same with Frank ragn they'll play these guys we're talking the NFC Championship Game and by the way Debo Samuel in my opinion will play in the game I'm expecting him to play but not actually be fully healthy he could be used as uh kind of like what Calvin Johnson would use sometimes is just to be a guy out there um maybe he'll get a couple passes throwing his way or a couple runs whatever but he's not 100% healthy and he's dealing with a shoulder injury but just like Sam leaport and Frank ragn now this is the NFC championship he'll play in that game if he has to be just a a role player whatever um and not the main guy just just to get the coverage he'll do that for sure in my opinion um and it looks like that Ben Johnson is the finalist everyone's saying for the Washington Commander's job only three job openings left and you have Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn amongst coaches who potentially could get hired for a head coach with only three jobs left because Jim Harbaugh went to the Chargers and the Buccaneers OC became the head coach of the Carolina Panthers so you got the team in the Washington commanders you got the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons looking for a job and I think Atlanta's probably going to hire Bill bellich um you got to understand Mike vel's out there as well so there's some good so you got Bill belich Mike Vel Ben Johnson um I guess Aaron Glenn as well they out there uh for potential coaches that could get hired for the upcoming time for for this um I also want to talk about this idea that the Detroit Lions don't have a shot to be San Francisco I totally disagree the odds should be with San Francisco but the lions got a legit shot to win the game on any lions are good road team uh they they know how to go on the road and play high level football they're a physical football team this is not a finesse team if it finesse team I would say you probably don't have much of a chance right because the 49ers are a physical team I I always believe in physicality over finesse that is my personal I think finesse will give you the points and they'll will give you the offense but at the end of the day to win a championship you got to be more gritty you got to be a physical team in my opinion um 49ers are physical guess what soore the Detroit Lions this is not a walk in the park team we a physical team you like to fight we like to punch we like to grit like to grind and that's what the 49ers do so let the best team win on Sunday lions got a shot they do I have the Lions winning more of trying to like speak it into existence and I hope everybody out there that watches this video is doing the same thing I do believe if you can speak things to an existence manifest it man manifest the lions in the Super Bowl whatever it takes because that would be just super amazing I know right now let's keep it 100 Detroit Lions are America's team everybody's rooting for the Detroit Lions to get this in there except for Sam Francisco fans but other than that everybody you got Vikings Packers Bears fans you you got the whole world that are not even football fans want the Lions to do this because it's such a story that is unlikely you know from being one of the worst franchise ever to go to a Super Bowl so I mean it is the epitome of the underdog it's the epitome of A Cinderella Story it's the epitome of a making of a movie what's taking place this year history and so let's manifest it to be reality you know we get to the Super Bowl be the greatest moment next to my kids being born in my life I'm sure for a lot of you your die hards we've been die hards for a long time this would be the this would be amazing it would be amazing we're g to be live for it too um man I know herm's going to be live during that time as well we got a video dropping tomorrow with Herman Moore talking about does he think the Detroit Lions go to the Super Bowl I'm going to give you the prediction it'll be dropping tomorrow um but we got to manifest folks we got to Manifest this into reality okay we got to bring this into light right we got got to do our part we got to do our part everybody do their part we want the Lions to get to a Super Bowl but look if we don't we lose the game I'm still proud of my team I think this was a great I I I think this is a great season I think the lions are in the cusp if we lose yeah I think we're going to be a good team for many years so it's not a situation where it's one and done I think we'll be a good team for many years and that should put hope uh but the Detroit Lions have an opportunity we don't need to hope we just need to win on Sunday just win win and you're in the Super Bowl win and you have a chance to be champions of the world and be immortalized you win this Sunday You' be immortalized in Detroit regardless what happens in the Super Bowl just getting there you'll be immortalized you will be it will be unbelievable so get ready for the video tomorrow uh live on Sunday with that said folks audio
