Alcorn State Fall Camp Football Scrimmage #2 recap|Gee FINALLY makes a practice

[Music] [Music] what's up I got I got Coach T coach talk about today's scri how it went you know the first thing we got our healthy um that was you know most important part uh got a lot of plays man a lot of plays so we got a really good evaluation on them um I thought defensively boy they came out with a lot of juice coose roll in that stab man had them guys flying around a couple big fourth and third down stops um the back end was communic it was loud um you know had a lot of juice man so it was really excited about that offense kind of sputtered a little early but coach Gil kind of settled them guys down you kind of see that ball moving put a couple of them in the box quarterback did a really good job of just leading offense uh Old Line man they you know ground and pound plus four plus three and just kind of laid they uh laid a lot of weight on the D line later on and you eventually see them guys start to kind of get rolling didn't do much kicking game by Design cuz I just wanted a lot of plays you know offense and defense uh right now to kind of create a lot more depth get uh you know up to at least 39 to 40 guys on each side of the ball that can get in the game and be Forman so um I think we got that um I just want to look at the tape and see how efficient you know we were when was the first mistake on both sides of the ball you know if we can get that to 18 19 20 um we doing a really good job give me a couple names I know you hadn't watched the film give me a couple of names that you impressed to today you know on defense most Sam man Sam Edison boy he flew around made a lot of lot of plays that was good to see Chris w a home transfer man a Big C down stop he did amazing job uh you know there k m mclen man Southern M transfer boy he made some big plays uh you know he he the new guy to the bunch but to see him fly around and play with rless abandon um did an awesome job and old Steve man you know him and uh D you know them guys you can't shut them up cuz uh they make all the plays and um so they had that hung hunger hippo mentality today so then was just a few um you know defense and then offensively um I thought ronal Brown did a really good job up front man just anchoring that uh o line down at the guard position Renee um you know s KN and all man you know played a bunch of snaps did a good job maintaining the edge um Su you know we put him on a pitch count but it was nice to see him in some of the past BR TI and one big time touchdown you see the length you see him uh reach that ball out and um old Caleb Anderson you know tight end man he did a really good job on the screen that got the ball vertical so them was just a few you know just looking at it with the naked eye so we're excited about those guys man and we just you know can't wait to get back out mondy um and just continue to get better Co give me some things you want to see the team improve on you know attitude and mindset you know we got another kid Obed you know out of the scrimmage that ain't what we coaching that ain't what we teaching so we got to clean that up you know that ain't that ain't what we doing that ain't what we're about um and then just execution piece you know um we got to get fourth downs we got you know we had about two fourth Downs that we didn't get third and ones you know we got to get those yardage you know we got to get extra Downs whether we scoring those drives or not or turn them over to get the field you know turn in a situation better and conducive for us um but you know those are some things that we'll work on going into this week and then defensively you know when that ball got on to the 10 and the 12 later on in the in the um game you know we start to give up a little bit too much so it's got to be a b but don't break mentality so we'll fix those and I know the coaches will be excited about getting on the grass on Monday to to compound um the interest um of getting those things fixed gotta coach overall who got the deal today the offense or the defense I think it was a tie you know I think was 28 28 offense was down 8 150 had to go uh about 50 yards they put it in got a hell of a two-point plate and then U I thought that zeroed it out and then up at the end field goal kicker uh you know I cut it off right there so I think it was a time gotta appreciate it coach yes sir any time Co bra what's going on I got my guy D WIS St coach off State University talk about the scrimmage today what came out the scrimmage and it was good it was good good to see the guys flying around it's the first time we done got him in that many plays you know so it's good to see you know the twos get in the threes who you know on that border line pushing the tools and you know VI versa so it's good to see that it's good to see us get a couple turnovers you know and get a couple stops you know the biggest thing is you know we came out of this thing helping you know we got a couple guys we got some you know knacks and bruises but at the end of the day you know everybody breathing you know we good you know going on the next week and leading up into UAB give me some of the names that stood out to you in the safety yeah most definitely uh first uh you know of course Jeff you know Jeff and wallow you know I saw them guys today you know those guys that have been rolling with the ones all Camp you know and biggest thing we've been talking about you know this whole campus communication you know cuz Comm without the communication you know we're dead back there so watching them today you know seeing them communicate saying you know directing traffic back there that's something that you know we definitely looking forward to and then a new guy you know the one that of course he was here in the spring but you know he got big Pi six you know but not just that he had putting a couple good pictures together you know just being where he's supposed to be and you know communicating you know how new guys they learn a new defense you know time and everything is demanded for them but at the end like you said those guys doing a great job gotta I was telling coach uh coach Taylor that I thought the secondary was the deepest spot talk about what goes into having that that dip cuz that's what I saw I saw a lot of dip in that second talk about what goes into having that dip yeah you know the most important thing you know is iron SAR IR that's we preach our guys so we want to make sure that our twos and our threes are guys that could possibly won you know if you think about last year we had Jeff you know we talking about one of our top guys who was coming in was a two then I'm sorry started out a three moved up to then finish the season you know as a starter so you know now we got that rotation where we can push those guys all year of course bringing some guys in to keep that rotation going guys that's binding to the culture so like I said the biggest thing is iron sharpens iron SW you know the better the backup is the better that you know that first guy going to be cuz you know every day he got somebody that's breathing down his neck appreciate it coach no doubt no doubt thank y'all guys what's going on I got quarterback at all state with me talk about today's scrimmage and what you like coming out of um in today's scrimmage I just like how we came out came out fast kind of worked the objectives of the periods he got out of the uh got out of the end zone got the ball to the five we could do better kind of moving the ball forward all the way to the box but as each period was going on we just kept kind of kept moving the ball and gaining more yards kind of went into my next question what can we improve on as an offense as a ho um starting fast we got to start as fast as possible his offense moves is best when we moving the fastest so as long as we getting set fast getting the play calls fast can't be stopped talk about the being able to play all St with the quarterback Legacy that we have um the the the legacy is is golden I'm happy to be here I'm happy to compete with the guys that's already been here um I'm helping them along the way and competing myself as a whole and just making sure everybody know what's going on and I'm proud to be here what can we expect from you this year um a lot a whole lot of points Party In The End Zone um good competition and go bra appreciate that's what's up I got my dog Wayne he coach Dwayne Taylor with me quarterback coach of all University how the spr go today Co man I think it went well man a lot of back and forth man that's when you know you got a good team when you got the defense winning series offense winning series we had a lot of that so that was great got give me some of the corners that stood out to you today played a good game man of course elen Sam and Andrew Smith man them the you know them the two guys man on all the award watch list preseason and all that but I told them that don't matter they got to come out and show it today they went about 80 plays they baled out another one's uh Tavon Haney man uh sophomore riding sophomore played last year this year he's going to have a bigger role he really did really well today and uh cam Brown he's a kid that transferred but he came from Jeff Davis County high school kid a freshman he came out and turn some heads me so I'm excited about the group got you I'm going give you FL I think the secondary is the Deep part just my tell me what goes into just having them guys ready just I I saw y'all switching players in and out what goes to having them guys ready like this man and honestly it's just the way that we we meet together man we do everything together you know we got a good group of guys and when we meet we talk about each position so one guy can go play another position we just got good kids man we got kids that that really want to learn and want to play and want to be great so that makes it easy how is the overall atmosphere heading into the first game um you know is this your happy place oh man my happy place that's more than my happy place man this place is great man and you know regardless of what people say about it man this place is always going to be home and I love it you know I love it and when you come here you know it's home so you can feel it you know so the atmosphere is high you know y'all know how K is man he going he going to make sure the atmosphere is high so you know happy place that's a that's that's understand got appreciate it coach no doubt man what's going on I got Jor and with me starting running back for the big bad break talk about the was it like today today was really a good day like overall this week we really just been focused on Focus itself trying to focus on the little things work hard make sure we doing everything we supposed to do when we do it and overall this week we really got better as a team off and defense and today theages really show that put talk about the overall running back R mark my words B running back room in the swag I'm trying to tell you you can quote it quote it for me B running back room in the SAG we got a bunch of young Talent we got a bunch of old head transfers everybody going to come work we ain't going to complain we might be ni up and bruised up but the end of day we like I say the got big know we always had a tradition to have a good running back room tell me how it feel just in this room knowing TR we it's a lot of pressure but it's also a honor coming behind the likes of Nico D and J how of course we got big shoes to F but we got to F them there's no way around we don't want to be the group that drop off just cuz a couple people graduated if anything we want to improve and that's what we plan on doing got you appreciate it dog I appreciate you I got Steve Carter with me starting um center for the big bad Brave talk about leading their offensive line man it's a blessing man uh you know I wasn't blessed with the opportunity last year but you know God blessed me again to prove myself to uh lead my line to Victory once again you know all we want to do is get better you know that's all we strive for for what do you think about the offensive line performance today in the scrim today we I feel like we were real greedy today you know we got down and dirty like we're supposed to do you know we started sluggish off in the beginning but you know it happens like that sometimes but toward the end we picked it up and showed why we will be one of the best lines in the SWAT so yeah what can we improve on on the offensive line uh just uh picking up thises more on the run on the run on the Run schemes you know you know it's hard it's hard for everybody to do that anyway but we just got to work on that so we can reach another got you but I appreciate it bro what's going on got coach with me defensive line coach I was great it was great man we got a lot of good pictures man guys stepped up made a lot of plays so it was a good day all and off I love what I saw from D line give me a couple names that they been leading and stepping up for you everybody knows Malachi Bailey uh right now we got JB he's another start starting Rising uh who else we got Gideon uh ET uh we got some young cat and Chris Wally so we got some good guys we got a good group talk about what goes into developing that dep on that defensive line how how you how you do such a good job man CU I seen 10 11 defensive lineman out there yeah it's all about the work you put in that's really all it is work right stack to days as coach say that's what it's all about got you appreciate it coach no problem man what's going on I got Tyler make with me talk about today's SC uh you know I feel like today's scrim was good we got better as a whole offense and defense you know offense we show flashes of what we could be this year and what we going to be this year and defense you know those guys just stopping just stopping the ball at times and you know you know stops when we needed so I feel like overall is a good team definitely got better than got give me something that we may need to improve on that off side the ball um I feel like I feel like finishing drives cuz you know it was a few times today that we got the ball in field goal range and everything but we just didn't finish what we need to finish you know a big part of this year of our offense been successful is going to be putting the ball in the box and score a touchdown cuz field goal on three points but we need to put six and seven on you
