Interview: Kevin Maher's Dagenham & Redbridge reaction

well Kevin that was a heck of a game this afternoon what a great start for South in yeah exactly and you know we got our press right and turned the ball over and you know monkeys got it into the heav as we want it and I think cards showed great composure just to let it back to coach that he could hit it first time and it's a really composed finish great way to start you know one goal up early on got to press on you just couldn't quite find that the needle look to threat through that defense could you no we had you know we had great opportunities and in the good areas that um they had a bit of the ball at some time but without hurting us too much and we felt like we're in okay possession as well ourselves um but wanted the second goal really but you know credit to them they're a good side as well second goal didn't come for you went for dag and rage with a penalty uh little touch in the Box was it or there or thereabouts no I think I've seen it back it's outside the box and I think the assessor spoke to someone up there and said their player wasn't getting the ball anyway so it's one of them it's listen the decisions all afternoon were frustrating to say the least um and it's had an effect again you get to halftime one a p at halim you're going to press on in the second period but to be honest it looked like dagam and Redbridge started the second half maybe on the front foot well they had the chance didn't they that Colin made a brilliant safe from and um you know maybe that extra day told there a little bit but I think then we were the team that was probably had the better chances um in the first half as well the better chances even the second half we were in control to a certain extent you know they were dangerous on the counter attack um but obviously they get the goal in the shot deflex and Inter Reese's path and you know he's a a top finisher so you know credit to him for that but the way we fought back and kept going was was incredible you you came back and equalized in stoppage time seven minutes of stoppage time that was about right but that seemed to be when you really started to go for it and and we peppering them really yeah I think we went for it before that um we changed shape um which would be pleasing but for to change the flow of it and we got two wide players on um Ball's going in but we had loads of chances just you know just wouldn't drop in the box there was so many that you know he just wanted it to fall so I think even before injury time we we're pushing them back and pushing them back and you can feel them hanging on you're just thinking is it going to drop to someone um but a great ball in and a great header Harry carbwell had a chance just before the the goal came with a flick head he must have thought at that point no luck this afternoon then who should pop up with a a de header go Morris how the heck does he do it yeah now he gets himself into areas and I think you know when cards is in the Box he's always really tightly marked so we try and get G getting across people and you know might be free um in my areas but as you say we cards had a chance there was a great save we had so many bridges had one in there Woodies had one so many and you consider they played the day before we played Saturday we can't make that many changes um so what the players did and the effort they had to keep going and and be the one inan ascendency um trying to win the game was you know huge huge credit to them and the fans cheering them on and trying to suck the ball in at the end there was you know made a huge difference to us as well so thank you to them for for that as well I suppose one change you did have to make in the first half was a goal scorer coka went I injured that was a blow and that made you change shape as well didn't it yeah slightly we just thought we' get another body up top um obviously we played with George off cards to begin with but without a natural Striker um we asked Woody to do it um um but yeah I don't he's done his ankle it looked like a tackle from behind that wasn't even a foul so disappointing we'll have to see how he is good luck next time thank you and C had to go off in the second half what was the sort of situation with him he tried to carry yeah I think it was um when he Chase back and I think his back and neck all stiffened up I think it's something he's had before so like you could see he's still trying to carry on but he just couldn't keep going with him so yeah we'll have to assess him and see how he is there's bodies all over the place in there um then national league and there wi them decide to let one team play on a Friday and everyone else got to play Saturday Monday so you know for the lads to keep going it's incredible no Danny wardr today was that KNE KNE yeah so I think when um he blocked a shot or blocked a clearance that his body just went under him and his knee bent so we'll have to settle that to see that how that settles down and maybe have a scan on that I know you could have make see many changes I thought James Morton did well when when he came showed what he can do yeah now absolutely gets you know control on the ball and you know plays he's got a good range of passing but he just kept simple and we kept switching play and we kept getting one V ones on the outside um so it really pleased with mors as well but we you know we're stretched now as a squad yeah and with that that you mentioned the schedule and the lack of option we keep going I mean that I know it's never in doubt but it shown it again today the effort lots of would have just given up absolutely and you know it could have been difficult when you go two1 down and you feel like things are going against you um so I can't as I've have done last year nothing's changed with these players they're the same players that we've added a few but the character will never be questioned is there any update on Walker scan yet or no not yet we're still waiting to get that done
