Run Windows 11 on Mac w/ free VMware Fusion Pro license

six-digit code sent to your email this is one of the reasons I love Mac OS and continuity because with the click it just fills it out so click verify and continue and then go ahead and complete your registration with your name country you can skip job title but put in a password and then accept the terms using the checkbox and then click create account so once you do that so you see register it successfully now I just choose I'll do it later and you definitely want to save that username and password this is Mac OS sequa with the new passwords app by the way it's one of my top features for Mac OS squa you can check out that full video here next go to the VMware Fusion Product download page which is linked in the description as well and then you're going to have to log in with the newly created broadcom account that you just set up so I'm logging in sign in and once you're there you're going to see a screen that looks like this VMware fusion with the various versions you want to choose that first one VMware Fusion 13 Pro for personal use you get a free personal license you want to click the latest version and here you go so when you try to click download it's disabled you have to agree to the terms and conditions first to get your license then you click download and then prior to downloading you have to click yes here for additional verification and that basically just is a trade compliance thing so you want to just go ahead and fill all those details out and then click submit make sure you have I agree checked so now we have our free VMware Fusion Pro personal license now download Download and Install VMware Fusion Pro 13 and install VMware Fusion Pro 13 so now here you can click the download button and it's actually going to work this time so it down downloads to your downloads folder you can actually just close out of safari now and we're going to find our download here it is just click it to mount it and in the finder window that appears just double click VMware fusion and it'll verify click open into your administrator password click okay it's going to initialize and then after a few seconds you'll see a little notification for background items and for allowing notifications you can just just dismiss those so now you can download Windows 11 Download Windows 11 and configure the virtual machine and configure the virtual machine so only select the install method screen click get Windows from Microsoft then click continue then here download and install click continue you want to select your windows Edition in language click download Windows and it's going to download the windows ESD and ESD just stands for electronic software download so basically downloading the ISO file so the iso is downloaded and it tells you the location of that download we'll come back to that a bit later so click continue here on choose firmware type you can just select yui and then on choose encryption you can keep the only the files needed options selected then click autogenerate password it's going to generate a password remember the password in your max keychain make sure that's selected you can also copy that password and save it to your password manager if you want to click continue all right so now you want to choose a virtual disc we're just going to create a new virtual disk capacity 64 GB which is plenty for what we're doing but you can customize that later if you want so now we're going to just click customize settings so this allows you to save the virtual machine now the cool thing is that you can save your VM to an external drive which is going to save space on your main drive and that's what I chose to do here I put it on my media external drive and have it here on the VM folder and just click save all right once you do that you're going to see the play screen and then you're going to also see the settings screen because we click customize so click processors and memory and there you can configure how many processor cores you want to dedicate to the VM when it's running um it defaults to two I'm not doing anything super strenuous I'm actually just running one application so I'm going to keep it on two processor cores I'm going to keep memory as the recommended default but again you can change this based on your needs I would recommend keeping it at least 40% or below of your system resources as a whole because remember Mac OS itself still needs resources to run so you don't want to over allocate resources to the virtual machine just keep balance in mind and as mentioned you can also customize the amount of dis based that you allocate by clicking the hard disk option in settings I'm going to keep it at 64 so close out of the settings window once you're finished configuring now it's time to configure Configure and install Windows 11 and install Windows 11 so click play and then once prompted press any key on your keyboard to boot from the windows ISO download so you'll see the windows logo it's going to load up the initial Windows setup so here we go so it's going to ask you for the language time and currency keyboard input method once you have all that configured as you desire click next and then click install now so setup will start and then it's going to ask you about activation click I don't have a product key unless you do and then click Windows 11 Pro and then click next and then click I accept the Microsoft software license terms and click next and then click customize install Windows only Advanced and then select the unallocated space and then click next and then it's going to install Windows so copying all the files getting files ready installing installing updates and then finishing up it's going to automatically restart or you can force it to restart by clicking restart all right so I'm speeding this up obviously a lot it's going to take a while throughout this entire process as Windows updates and loads and all that and other words you'll need to be patient so now set up Windows 11 and Setup Windows 11 and bypass Microsoft login bypass the Microsoft login so once you see this screen right here you actually want to press a key combination on your keyboard to load up the command prompt and that key combination is shift F10 now if you're using a magic keyboard you may have to hold function and then press shift F10 either way that should result in this right here the Windows command prompt so now you want to type O O for outof boox experience / bypass nro and I think that stands for a network requirement option at any rate the point of this is to allow you to skip the requirement of logging in with a Microsoft account which you may not even have in order to proceed with the installation so that's why we enter this command now press return on your keyboard it's going to reboot and once it reboots you're going to see something familiar basically the same screen we saw before so you want to select your country and then click yes select your keyboard layout click yes skip the second keyboard layout it's going to check for updates this could take a while so just be patient you'll notice that these updates yeah it's a trend with the Windows setup so you want to name your device this is also the name that will appear on the network so I'm just going to call it Windows click next and again a reboot just a moment and we should be resuming here in just a second so again patience is required so now on this screen you want to select setup for personal use and then click next all right so here is the screen I was talking about earlier where it wants you to sign in with a Microsoft account I don't want to do that and you probably don't want to either so what we're going to do is go up to the menu bar select virtual machine go to network adapter and disconnect the network adapter this will disconnect internet for our VM and when we click sign in it'll basically just skip that requ enironment nice all right so now we can go back to Virtual Machine go to network adapter connect your network adapter and now you have internet again so you're going to put your name in Click next here it's going to ask for a password I just click next because I don't want to use a password my thinking is that well Mac OS already is secure behind the password and I can only run the VM when I boot into Mac OS so I don't really want a password Here on Windows and I also don't want any of these privacy settings enabled so I'm just going to go through and disable them all and click accept all right so now you're going to see another Windows update screen I've sped this up so you're not just sitting here watching a Windows update on this tutorial okay so the installation is complete for Windows 11 here is the Windows desktop so now it's time to Install VMware Tools install VMware tools so you want to go back up to the menu bar go to Virtual Machine click install VMware tools click install and it's going to mount the VMware tools image so you just want to open up explore there you should see the DVD drive with VMware tools open that double click on the setup click yes on the user account control popup and you can see preparing VMware Tools installation and then you just want to click next choose typical next and then install wait while it installs so what this is doing is installing all the necessary drivers your mouse driver your Network driver video drivers you're going to notice your video uh settings get an upgrade uh as far as resolution is concerned so just click finish and then click yes it's going to reboot your VM and once you come back up you see that nice thing about not having a password it just automatically logs you in there but once you come back Run Windows Update up now it's time to run Windows update so now you want to go to the start button at the bottom go to settings scroll down click Windows update and then download and install all so this will install the security updates the cumulative update for Windows Etc and again I've sped this up that'll take a while so be patient so here we are folks Windows 11 installed on a free instance of VMware Fusion Pro 13 so I'm going to go full screen and there we go so now you can run that app that is Windows only for whatever reason with these so what happens to the windows 11 ISO file that VMware Fusion downloads from Microsoft well you can find it under your user folder go to Virtual machines you'll see VMware ISO images and there you go there is the windows 11 ISO and you can see it's 6 gab in size so not exactly tiny if space is at a premium you can delete that you can move it to an external drive if you want to you no longer need it to run your virtual machine however if you choose to keep it the next time you want to set up a new virtual machine instead of having to download the iso again from Windows you can just reference that if you still have it saved either on your main drive or an external drive and that will make it so that you no longer have to go through that download process which can save you time during the virtual machine setup if you happen to want to set one up again
