hello hello everybody hello everybody on the Tik Tok and the YouTube and Facebook and and everywhere uh you recognize him from your computer screen but we got Adam Lucas here I'm a real person I not a robot he's a real person he's here um kind of like the old days when we uh first started talking NASCAR what 2021 uh yeah 2021 uh yeah yeah so we just had a we just had a whole bunch of us over to watch this Daytona race because typically it's the cut off race before we get into the playoffs but that doesn't mean this being the second to last before the playoffs would be any different right so uh we knew this would be an intense race and let's just start off with the obvious Harrison Burton capturing wood brother racings 100th win the first win of his cup series career uh incredible moment there was a question on if he broke the W line rule the above the line rule right first off okay cool to have our Nam sake come up tonight shout up but to Nascar or at least not n NASCAR's credit but what they found was he was forced below the yellow line from contact with Kyle Bush but thoughts that's crazy hey everyone uh yeah so honestly with the way it finished um I honestly was okay with the outcome I'm glad they did not penalize the 21 not that he should have been penalized he was technically forced out or below the yellow line um and honestly in that situation the only other other way that Kyle bus could have won was by hooking the 21 and we already know the status quo what's going to happen if you hook someone for a win this season so yeah uh I was okay with it I thought it was good yeah let me read you all first off good to see everyone rolling in here on Twitter Tik Tok Facebook whatever I know we typically don't do live streams for our full race Recaps but tonight it's gonna work that way just're let the magic roll we're gonna let the magic roll um if you are watching on other platforms besides Tik Tok you will see on your screen your uh results here Harrison Burton obviously getting the win Kyle Bush in second he had a chance to win this um for himself for RCR kind of redemption uh from Richmond lack of a better word but luckily well not luckily but good finish for Kyle Bush luckily he finished inside the top 10 great effort from him and his team the entire night um Christopher Bell kind of came out of nowhere last minute finish in third fourth Cody wear can we talk about this for a second let's put it this way Rick wear racing came up and they showed up tonight they had a great night until obviously the 51 was taken out in one of the late race recks but yeah shout out to the team that was great result yeah I I do want to mention um Chandler Ashley in the comments said as a Kyle Bush fan I'm very heartbroken um that we came so close but I'm very happy for Harrison because my dad was a huge fan of of Jeff Burton back in the day and what a cool family moment as well just seeing that uh that celebration on the front stretch like that's so cool if if that didn't bring a tear to your eye if you are a passionate exactly if you're not a passionate Nascar fan like to see history go and go that was one of those really defining moments that was a Dale Andale moment yes it was that's what it felt like it was yeah my gosh and also in case you're just joining and tuning in of course my name is Taylor kitchen we talk about NASCAR all the time right here on above the other line and I'm joined by Adam Lucas who was typically on our live streams that we do on the Toby chrisy comom main YouTube channel if you're watching there but now he's here in person and we're chatting with you all about NASCAR but yeah brought a tiar to your eye Georgia 100% um rounding out the rest of your top 10 um Ty Gibbs Bubba Wallace Parker rlof in his first start let me tell you first start Parker rlof is the reason Harrison Burton is your winner tonight he gave him one of the greatest pushes I've seen in years down the backstretch at first in that restart I said oh no this rookie is not going to know what he's doing trying to push they don't push much in the xinity exactly and here he comes out of nowhere 21 to the lead fantastic that's a good question how many fatherson Duos have won a cup race now I mean my God there's so many right there's there's quite a few we'd have to do our homework we our homework I mean Petty we got Burtons now we got Elliots I mean there's there's so many you have right but Al I mean yeah like you said Parker rof really did help Harrison Burton get that win we have bra Kowski Daniel hemrich top 10 Chris busher rounding out the top 10 um there are a few instances we want to talk about here um first off someone mentioned it about um Josh Barry glad Josh Barry's okay Ashton you did uh yeah let's go to that that incident there um the big one with nine to go the caution lson makes in some insane moves there the push from Barry into cnri cnri gets squirly the back bumper of mcdal and they're just wrecking uh mcdal almost flips completely so we have that but where was the one with Barry was that the one with Barry that was the one with Barry it was the one with Barry yeah and just on Barry and syndric just in front of the field yeah go Barry flips is on his lid and then goes like nose first on his lid on his hood um on his roof there we go the word yes into the inside wall yeah holy crap scary he's okay thank God very scary incident uh honestly was not surprised we saw a car flip and actually we saw a couple cars get airborne in that W Not only was Barry Airborne but syri also got a little bit of lift was able to go Jones was on two wheels when he made contact uh yeah wild night wild night from Daytona yeah um absolutely insane and somebody did mention that that final wck caution with totico um coming to the white um Bush just had to push that went wrong um in front of them that was the one that buried this was the one that bu okay so the to go was different it was more so for a Larson move really um but the caution was two to go coming to the white was bush with a wrong push um with uh Josh Barry in front of them and cnri went around and it was just bad you had multiple cars involved um Barry did say after the race it wasn't as bad as it probably looked on TV on the broadcast so glad he's okay um but incredibly scary for sure yes uh there were some other big incidents there kazlowski finishing inside the top 10 considering that he had a restart violation around like 16 to go in the race um essentially what happened is Cedric spun his tires uh wasn't able to get going kazlowski just I mean he was going and cnri was he wasn't he in all honesty I thought because when they got into the restart line I thought that cuk already had gone but that's what I thought but but then it was clear to say that apparently no looking at a further review no it was not it was definitely the six card jump the restart 100% I also want to point out the points right now there were about like first off let me mention this about 18 19 cards like half the field did not finish this race um there was several big wrecks it reminded me of like an old school Daytona race not just in terms of like Rex but in terms of feel and I do think before I get into how the point standings look this was one of my favorite gen 7even like actual super speedway races not like Atlanta but like Daytona super speedway races traditional super speedway races and I agree with you on that as a matter of fact this when I was watching it I felt like I was like in a Time Warp back to 2010 2011 that kind of racing I love that maybe not 2011 that was when we had T the two-car Tango but still it felt like late 2000s early 2010s type of uh plate racing so yeah all in all tonight was a good product minus the flips minus the flips uh my name Jeff on Tik Tok first off love the name um all but six cars were involved in Rex tonight which is absolutely insane that is wild um yeah and and Greg did mention too again Harrison Burton winning this race there was a question as to whether he went below the yellow line um again above the yellow line name sake just above he was above the yellow line he made it above in the sense that he was forced below NASCAR felt that he was forced below the yellow line by Kyle Bush with contact there so they deemed it was okay I actually have a whole video out on the Toby chrisy comom YouTube channel about the double yellow line Rule and its controversial calls and I think this could have been added to that and maybe could in some people's eyes um depending on how you feel that should have been handled by NASCAR but NASCAR made the call um so good to see a lot of people really happy in the chat about this win and something that's crazy about this uh I want to find like the actual like points scenario here but Harrison Burton was last on points yes he was last out of out of the full-time drivers that have run every race this season he was dead last dead last and now is locked in the playoffs and people were kind of up in arms about you know Austin Dylan being close to last in points and making his way to the playoff and obviously they need to go to the final appeals officer but as of right now that Penal he still stands after the first attempt to appeal um took place earlier I guess last week this week whatever you call it yeah that's past week thank you uh so there was that but I guess the conversation is Harrison ber is a very well-liked driver well-liked guy everyone was congratulating him Etc but beyond the likeability there is still somebody who was dead last in points who was now Racing for a championship and knocking out contenders based on points that might have and did based on points have a better season do you feel like that's a problem uh this is a wild card race a true wild card is now into the playoffs so it it's kind of a box that we already were in this is a product of it you have a wild card race at a play check that's unpredictable you're going to get a wild card racer that's going to be in the playoffs now 100% yeah as the playoffs look right now um with playoff standings we have lson Bell Byron reick blay Hamlin Lano syndric Elliot Suarez Kowski Bowman and Harrison Burton locked into the playoffs with a win and here's where things get a little tricky and where we're going to see the playoff picture heading into Darlington the last race of the regular season Martin trck Jr plus 58 and Adam you were saying essentially he just has to start this one he just has to start it yes yeah should be fine Tai Gibbs plus 39 Chris Bucher plus 21 then we have Wallace minus 21 and Chastain minus 27 so it looks like it's going to have to be you have to be Flawless or you have to win in your in and uh bubble Wallace made some really interesting comments post rates that were very negative and I think there's something to be said if you carry negativ into something uh it's not going to go well for you so my whole thing is I think for Wallace of course when um 2311 has a great package at Darlington um but go into that race with a good mindset obviously frustration and disappointment um from not winning a race that could have been theirs at one point or another uh but any any concerns going into Darlington obviously RJ has seen another driver who's good at this track I think for uh Vier it's going to be do not dnf yep do not hit the wall Do Not Crash as the leader like what happened at the in the springtime uh you were going to have to literally perform if if you want to make it to the playoffs you're going to have to be absolutely perfect yeah you have to be absolutely perfect and if you're Ross Chastain you absolutely have to win yes and with Ross and with Kyle or even with Chase Brisco I mean you're going to have to win to make it you were cannot make it mathematically yeah and that's tough and I think too something you mentioned is like not making mistakes and what's interesting to me is those drivers that are fighting for arguably that last spot above the cut off line are drivers that are mistake prone so it really is going to be can you get it together for this one race to get you into the playoffs to have a reset kind of it's like a reset moment um somebody also mentioned you know the 21 Wasted Spot first round exit most likely a first round exit yeah probably uh with the trend would say yes but it is the playoffs and anything can happen yeah if you look at the schedule we have for the first set we have a we have a plate race we have a road course then we have an intermediate so anything can happen at these two tracks I I honestly think this could be the year that we really have a lot of surprises a lot of surprises that Advan the round of 12 and everyone is saying it's very fitting that the lady in Black whether you are on YouTube Facebook Tik Tok anywhere watching us by the way um thanks for tuning in but everyone is saying it's very fitting that the lady in black is the final race before the playoffs because it is for an experienced racer it's going to test your skill skills and it's really going to set apart you know the racers from those who are just trying to be lucky at the end of the day it it is one that you were really going to have to work hard to earn that final spot in the playoffs unfortunately um going into Daytona it looked like we were going to see a close battle leaving Daytona it's not as close of a battle anymore definitely not as close so not as close um if you have any questions comments about the race that we might not have talked about let us know again of course my name is Taylor kitchen you are watching the above the yellow line live stre on the Toby Christy comom YouTube channel or on the Taylor kitchen or above the yellow line um social media Pages we talk NASCAR here joined with Adam Lucas from the ATO Live Crew and we're just talking about the Daytona race um if you're tuning in but yeah people are mentioning it in the comments I'm seeing a little bit of it Lee DIY in the booth uh his de for the season love it oh my God Lee DIY yeah he is he is a shot of good adrenaline into the old arm as they say uh yeah Lee Diffy he's Class Act he knows what he's talking about uh I read something on Twitter during the race someone had mentioned that the dude hasn't even done a NASCAR race in years and he knows his stats like he's been watching it his whole life so he done his homework yeah knowing your homework knowing your stuff I mean it's it's perfect love the accent the accent for me and it's the excitement that he brings to and that's why I'm going to miss him in the Indie Car Booth is because he brought excitement to a series that needs excitement and that the product is fantastic there it's no secret that the marketing there is lacking a little bit and it it's just it's missing the marks a little bit um so having him gone from the booth is definitely a major loss to that series but selfishly a major gain for us huge game for us we we'll take what we can get and I think we're in good hands with him yeah we are definitely in good hands with him um somebody mentioned to um Harrison Burton where is he going next year we don't know where he's going next year we don't know uh so hopefully this will help those conversations for him get rolling uh Daytona win some team might look at it and be like oh it's lucky but if you remember earlier in the year Atlanta for instance Harrison Burton was up there and uh he's able to be in the mix for these super speedway races he's LED laps at these races obviously we'd like him to be more consistent across the board not just these H I was gonna say plate races but super speedway races plate race super speed tomato Tom um I think we know what we're talking about we know what we're talking about we got it uh but hopefully this does help him in his journey to finding a ride in 20125 I don't know if it'll be cup I hope at least he gets xinity if if not I I don't want to see him knocked down on way a truck um I just think he needs more time to develop a little bit um and yeah also somebody mentioned just the storytelling ability I think that was Sly job s good to see you in the chat yeah his storytelling ability in those final Corners to round out the race too was just incredible too we had just watched the video too before we went liveed again Goosebumps Goosebumps Goosebumps and again that moment between Father and Son and just the excitement and just Harrison's mom like oh my God the Kim cam is back I love it love having the Kim cam yeah and I will I will mention too I interviewed Harrison Burton earlier this year I believe it was at it was either Richmond or Martinsville they were back-to-back races so I don't remember telling them apart but I talked to him kind of about the the idea of getting the Win For What Brothers Racing the 100th win and how much that would mean to him and obviously I mean goes without saying it's he said it would mean a lot they're working really hard they're not where they wanted to be at that point in the season but he had a good few tracks um that stretch lined up for him that should have done pretty well and they just didn't and so they've been trying to find speed and they've stuck with Harrison Burton and so knowing that got the win that said meant so much to him it kind of validated his spot in the cup series was so big so I want to I want to try to find that interview again and I'll probably repost it um somewhere on my socials but uh really really impressive there for sure yeah the Burton Family just seeing that reaction was incredible uh there was some news that came out during the weekend that I think we should talk about as well as it relates to one of the drive both two drivers that were in this race um one of them unfortunately blew an engine uh in some way shape or form so not to be biased but that was my guy yeah that was your guy so unfortunate but fortunately he'll be in the cup series next year full time fulltime fulltime third Charter for track house racing kind of interesting with the number choice though yeah number choice so um Shane Vian gisbergen will race in the cup series fulltime in 2025 with track house racing and the number 88 so pretty interesting there Justin Mark said that they are very intentional when choosing numbers knowing the history behind the one and the 99 they wanted to do something that played into that so they approach coed Hendrick Motorsports and Dale Jr we're like hey we we kind of want to run the 88 can we get your blessing Dale Jr gave the blessing and uh it'll be really cool to see him in the cup series full-time next year won three races in the xinity series so far so far and The Season's not over yet no we got a couple more road courses yeah and watch him just knock those park for sure definitely yeah so very very curious to see how he does next year I'm excited for him and just how his how how his career has progressed it's been very quick but allar driver sometimes when you got lightning you got to try to capture it in the bottle oh I love that I think that's what we're doing yeah that I think we're doing that uh with him and I'm I'm excited for the future for 2025 with him it's gonna be fun unfortunately uh that means the future for another track house driver is uncertain so Zayn Smith and track house racing the day before announced they are mutually splitting of course Zay Smith as a track house racing driver contract wise but he is Racing for Spire this year in the 71 he does not have a ride right now uh for next year but the idea between the mutual split was so he could accept opportunities a lot quicker there is speculation that he's returning time kind of to his main stay at um front R motorsports yes um which would make the most sense to me it would especially since they have not announced that third driver for their third Charter or the 34 car so it it makes sense but we don't know anything yet yeah it makes sense but we don't know anything yet uh but we we'll keep you in the loop there that was kind of the main news that happened this weekend um considering you know Shane was in the field and unfortunately had that engine blow uh let's talk about before we get to some questions in the in the chat that we see um all across the board I'm going to try to scroll through and get some answers but uh race rating rating it above or below the yellow line and if you guys are new to this race rating scale for those of you that are joining on Tik Tok might be news to this um 50% is on that yellow line that's kind of fine mediocre race you want to be above the yellow line just like the name of the show that means it's a good race if it's below the yellow line bad race we didn't like it um I think this is easy say it's above the yellow line it's just by how much I don't know where you put it it's above 75 for me um that's good start I I it's tough it's tough of all the Daytona races with the next gen car this has been probably the best one for me personally so I'd probably put this about 86 yeah 866 okay I would give it I think I'd give it an 87 I think I'd go right above that um I rated a lot of races um within that like 86 87 range I might even go up to maybe a 90 just because it was such a it might be a little too high but it was a breath of fresh air for the Gen 7 car at an actual Super Speedway track again not Atlanta where the racing is always good but that's not truly truly a super speedway I'm talking like Daytona Talladega so uh yeah definitely some people are saying talk about below the yellow line Harrison Burton I get that I get that good pun I love that um but yeah he was but he was put in that position he was but he was that's the Box we're put in if you're forced out though that that that's where the whole was he was he not exactly I think he was forced down I think he was forced down too and just just looking at that incident again and again I have a whole video out on YouTube on the Toby chrisy com YouTube page talking about instances where that above the line rule was put into question and where NASCAR might have gotten it right or where NASCAR got it wrong there are some instances where bias aside uh or just I guess bias inserted um where I think they got it wrong but they're just such weird instances there but yeah um going back to um the significance of this for Harrison Burton but also Wood Brothers Racing it was their 100th win the history of the team I know Josh Barry going to the 21 next year he was like you know I hope to get that 100th win for Wood Brothers uh would be such a big deal for him to get it but imagine if I told you earlier this year that Harrison Burton would get the 100th win for Wood Brothers would you have believed me no all the track record would absolutely say no and it would be Josh Barry would have been the next guy to get it but now Josh Barry can get them 101 exactly or 102 depends on you know Harrison Burton he's still could win another race this year still could got one you can catch fire pretty quick you really can so I mean you never know yeah but congrats to Wood Brothers Racing on getting this 100th win on to Harrison Burton it's such a big deal and I love seeing the emotion of first- time winners it's really exciting in trucks because these are drivers that are just starting their NASCAR Journey at the national level on the xinity series that's when you're like oh if I get a win here that is a good sign for a cup right and you see kind of the Hope in those drivers and when you see it at the cup level it's almost a sigh of relief when you get to that moment and you feel like all that hard work and that struggle to get here even though money money it feels like a weight off your shoulders and even too we talked about when Chase laot finally got his first win we were we were all asking for years when is that gonna happen and after he got the weight off his shoulders he was winning and winning and winning and then Championship yep years later you catch fire real quick you either catch fire or you're flashing the pan you always hope for the better yeah NASCAR talk about C surfy says you would have been incorrect at the beginning of the Season yeah 100% yeah 100% what I might have called you a ding-dong for making that prediction I should have put that in my predictions for this year honestly gosh but also too um the other prediction we were talking about earlier was like uh sparos racing Point situation yes and it was looking like Rick wear was gonna make that prophecy be fulfilled however not really yeah we were thinking four yeah we were thinking that Rick wear um racing would have had a higher point standings in half of the shr drivers and that's not the case not the case not the case and I had a pred and I had a prediction that they would get a win yeah so got maybe two more shots two more shots yeah two more shots who knows um again just kind of reiterating that um above yellow line rule I see some of that in the comments over here on Tik Tok so yeah essentially what happened was there was contact with um Kyle Bush he was a little bit higher behind Harrison Burton Burton was around that yellow line area Burton went under the line after that contact NASCAR deemed that he was forced below the Y Line in that case and so NASCAR determined that Harrison Burton was the winner of course cross the finish line first uh but determined that that him going below the yellow line didn't matter would not revoke the win necessarily because he was forced but um again for Parker Retzloff in his first Cup Series start to finish this race inside the top 10 should have probably finished it inside the top five um but impressive with the push he gave Harrison absolutely he should have been top five but I think he ended up getting kind of bumped out of the way to the Finish he did with the whole keslowski because keslowski spun uh over the he spun coming to the line he did leave it to Brad leave I was hoping Brad would at least win this coming back from that penalty on jumping the restart um like with nine to go not even nine to go on 16 to go in the race uh he did come back from that finishing inside the top 10 uh but yeah could have been a race one for him he did an excellent job Bubba Wallace overall this race did a really good job LED quite a few laps uh are there drivers that we might be missing out on that I think that we think did a really good job but we haven't touched on I mean Todd Gillan he didn't dnfed this race unfortunately Josh Barry again he flipped um was on his roof uh went nose first into the wall while on his roof but he put on one hell of a race he did he did he really did and a shout out to Ty Gibbs not having a mechanical issue this week yeah 100% top 10 shout out to that yeah actually top five finished fifth yeah yeah a finish that he definitely needed no jgr engine issues this week nope no yeah knock on wood that it will not happen the rest of the season uh just because they cannot afford it to happen uh so yeah a little little interesting there oh and uh one colag car the colge car you wouldn't think would get a top 10 got a top 10 uh Daniel Hammer yeah look at that for Daniel great job for him he is a great uh Super Speed Racer he really is he really is always been consistent especially with the cague equipment yeah somebody said Larson tried toight my god did he try uh heaed one of them with nine to go he he yeah he he was trying qu quite a bit he was trying to win the race too early and trying not to win the race but unfortunately uh yeah stuff went sideways yeah it's tough it's tough but I mean you you gotta like kind of understand the position he's in like he's never won like these races and it's tough and he finally wants to get it he was in the right position but there's also give and take that you have to do as a driver and as somebody who's like in those situations where it's like this probably isn't the right move right now because it might junk a few cars so I'm gonna wait I'm gonna be patient and um one of my drivers that I work with ho dvino um he's one of the most patient guys I meet and I'm not patient at all at him I'm not patient whatsoever and I'm like she's not I'm not I'm not at all and I'm like how do you do this because I would lose my mind just riding around at Daytona lap after lap not doing anything he's like you have to be patient you have to put yourself in these positions you just it's the calm you can you have to have while also being a fierce competitor that I could never do and that was on a display tonight with whoever was the most patient during this race and who played their cards right won patience and nerves of Steel yeah you gotta have both of those you gotta have a good healthy bounce of it because if you have too much uh nerves you're going to be aggressive if you're not aggressive yeah just gonna be a rough night uh also shout out for this being the first time a burton has been to Victory Lane in the cup series since 2002 yeah since loud in 2002 loud in 2002 I believe I was 9 years old watching that I was two it's been a few years but but for my for our old school guys remember the old 22 caterpillar car now we have Justice we have we got Harrison here in the 21 another historic car yeah uh yeah good to see a burton back in Victory Lane in the cup series good to see Wood Brothers back as well yes and just Wood Brothers in general but I I really do hope NBC and they should knowing NBC socials and how wonderful they are will post like a live action like calling the last two laps for Jeff Burton in the booth and seeing his reaction like I want to see the whole thing the all the emotion uh because that would be so darn cool uh but yeah other drivers that we can think of to mentioned Joey Lana did really decent this race too unfortunately was taken out in an incident same was Justin Hanley uh was gonna be one of those Wild Card drivers that could have won it and uh the front row cars they weren't just on the front row row for the start they were at the front row of the race for the majority of the time until late race Rex took him out 100% let's make sure that we look through the rest of the comments make sure we didn't miss anything if you guys have any questions comments concerns for us let us know we'll answer them in the last few minutes of this live stream um do you think the oh this is a good question um with the um side by-side commercials during green flag action um Brandon asks do you think the race was commercial heavy or was it good tonight so question for you oh uh I thought it was honestly I was expecting to have a larger screen kind of like the old wide open coverage TNT used to present um instead of being side by side but for the majority I thought it was okay I was fine with it being the traditional side by side we didn't miss anything we saw every lap green flag to green flag to or green flag to Checkered Flag right and we also saw too that a lot of these wrecks happen during those side by side and we would have missed them we would have so I am very glad that NASCAR NVC stakeholders everyone decided to take this risk and I made a whole video about this earlier this week in case you missed it but I hope that this risk is worth it and they don't see a huge loss in revenue or whatever they're hoping they don't lose from this and we're able to continue this moving forward if not at all the races then at least the major races where they see a huge audience boost in like the Daytona 500 for instance I understand that is a huge race for um ad Revenue to come in to the sport it's very important but if we can at least incorporate this more in some way I think it's helpful and it also allowed us to see I mean not just all the action but if you needed to take breaks during the race like you could still take breaks because you're not going to hear anything that's going on you're just gonna watch it but I I thought it was very successful I was a fan of that um do you think from Ohio win fellow Ohio in here um do you think Kyle Bush gets a win this next race so do we think that he'll win Darlington before the playoffs hit he's looking at continuing his 19-year streak for wins I'm not sure if he can get done this next weekend but I think he will get a win before the season's over I think this I think the focus will be all right we're not on the playoffs big whoop let's go get a win before the end of the season so I I don't think he can win Darlington I think there's too many other people with too much on the line that are going to be better and better prepared for this race so I don't think he gets it done I think he'll get it done somewhere in the playoffs yeah I think if he's not able to win his way into the playoffs which I don't think he will he will still be fiercely competitive in the sense that he wants to continue that streak and I did want to mention here somebody did say um Tyler said didn't Jeff Burton win a 2008 NASCAR Taco Bell Cup Series said yes he did Charlotte F that's right he did so looks like 2008 was the last time that a burton was in Victory Lane so thank you yeah Cup Series there we go um Justin oh Justin here we go it's late at night I'm sorry we're good it's all good I was trying to be nostalgic go back to 2002 was that 22 years ago oh God yeah gross Justin with a comment here on Twitter might be a hot take but it will take time to see the full effects of it however we may um have seen two of the last three races with flaws of this win and get in format I'm curious what those long-term effects will be and if we see any changes to the and I'm oh to the um let me read the rest of this to the format during the offseason okay there we go sry that was the rest of it yes so we've seen the flaw of it where it could hurt the integrity the playoffs where you have drivers that have been so consistent for an entire season like I I mean Heck if you look at the point standings right now let me pull them up real quick so you guys can all see them like Chris buscher Bubba Wallace um Rashia Cena's had an off year but otherwise very consistent and two two of the three of those drivers are not going to make the playoffs and that's insane to me when you have a driver that was last in points like Harrison Burton went his way into the playoffs after being dead last in points over 400 points well over 400 points behind Tyler reck who's leading those point standings right now so there a flaw in the system and you're seeing the flaw too and how these drivers are trying to win races and the repercussions of that by NASCAR so yeah and just the fact that if you if you take away the win in your in scenario almost everybody that hasn't won on this page is already in the playoffs yeah that's that's shocking that's also alarming but I'm also a person that wants to bring back the old Chase for the cup so I'm partially getting rid of this complete format going back to the good old days but that's just me yeah I I am a fan of if we want to do a playoff format just do the chase go back to the chase it's it's simple enough where right now it is the perfect in between because I think we've push this too far to where we've added in too many I don't want to call it gimmicks because that sounds harsh but I'm gonna use the word gimmicks to make these playoffs interesting to a I want to say a casual fan it it's too comp I think it would be over complicated um especially trying like I've had several new fans in my personal life like who have just started watching NASCAR within the last three to four years and they're still fuzzy about the whole playoff system right and me trying to explain it to them that it's like I have seven heads that have grown out of my ears so no it does not does not make sense to them it makes sense to us because we we're in it right we're in we're in the endar fans here but yeah for the for the average novice who if they pick up the remote and put on the channel for the race they're not going to understand anything about the playoff and here's the thing too pretend that we had a full season point system or the Chase and there was no winning your in Harrison Burton's win would still be exciting because it was a firsttime win yes um Austin dyan's win would have still been exciting because he's had a kind of lousy season and they finally had a chance to win a race and they got it what a huge morale boost but that doesn't earn you a place in the playoffs if your the rest of your season was bad maybe you double the points for a win and that helps you in the long run but I think we're getting to a point now where this win in your in is detrimental to the um legitimacy of a championship and it's been this way for a while while but this year it's scarying me last year we got lucky though because we had a lot of we had all worthy competitors in those 16 playoff spots we did and the end result pry love this the end result was pretty good Tyler 100% 2004 format only 10 get in that's what I love I love that 100% the OG Chase OG Chase I'd be i' you know what I'll go even one step further I would be okay if we had the 12 uh driver Chase that they introduced as well yes either or or we just go back to being organic you let the point system actually count for the entire season and here's the thing there's some Seasons where that's going to suck and there's really not going to be a battle right this year it would have been very interesting between Elliot yeah especially with Larsson missing a race and still being in that insane yeah that that right there in itself just shows wow we could have really had a super competitive points yeah battle and Hamlin would have been better in the mix if it wasn't for that massive penalty by the way in case you missed that on the 11 team incurred a major penalty and L2 penalty by NASCAR for quite honestly a very big mistake on tr's part uh they rebuilt and or I guess disassembled and rebuilt the race winning engine for Denny Hamlin before NASCAR was able to inspect it um according to David Wilson TRD president he said that they had sent the engine to the wrong facility where it was torn apart then rebuilt before NASCAR had a chance to do it they put NASCAR in an impossible situation and profusely apologized to job's racing and everyone involved but that meant that Denny Hamlin was docked 75 driver and Championship sorry 75 driver and owner Championship points 10 playoff points and Chris gabart fined $100,000 it's I know it wasn't on the fault of that team at all but according to the NASCAR rule book that's how the fins had to be dealt so unfortunate for the 11 car we say it's his year and then every every year we say it's his year something happens and this is the something if this is just the something I still think he has a shot that's the beautiful thing though cuz he went from being third to sixth yeah not not crazy not terrible but it's he can still advance and with his wins uh I mean he's right now playoff points is 11 playoff points so not horrible considering the seed in ranking uh of his spot right now um Justin did say going back to putting 10 in the postseason will give us bigger storyline um more big names missing the Playoffs yeah I think heading into the playoffs too because I feel like now just from a journalism perspective and Justin you understand this too it's so hard to find story lines like when the playoffs are approaching because sometimes the Gap is just so wide between drivers you're like well there's really no storyline it's hey babba you need to win in your in what's the emotion behind that and that's it that's not a storyline it's just trying to get a driver's gauge on how they're feeling going into a race weekend but if there's big drivers that are going to miss the playoffs and let's say it's a retirement season let's say TRX was below that cuto off line it's like oh my gosh well here's some more to beef up this story line a little bit so yeah uh I really do think Tri has a good chance I'm Reed in the comments on Tik Tok said this Trix has a good chance to maybe win Darlington get that first one of the Season he doesn't really need it at this point but would be nice it would be and as long as he doesn't have mechanical failure I don't see why not he can't run top five or get a win this is one of his Marquee tracks 100% 100% yeah uh very very fun race for Daytona definitely above the line like we said uh we are going to head out for the night remember Darlington uh next Sunday I will actually be at the track uh so make sure to try to find me say hey I'll be there working in the infield but I will probably join the Tweet up that Bob hawass typically does so make sure to stop by say hey I'm G bring a hat or two to give away to you all give yeah give we love I love giveway give away give it away now so make sure to check that out um click the link
