NCCU FB Post practice Interview Oliver and Taylor (Aug. 14, 2024)

you got to have a ground game if you want to survive in the Mak here and you've got uh quite a few people stepping up let's talk about the guy right off the top that stands out to me Taylor uh what does he bring what kind of a back is he what are you uh expecting from him yeah Jamari Taylor's having a great camp and he was a a solid backup for us last year but um you know he's the every down back very elusive great hands out the back field uh is physical and protect and pass protection against linebackers so I'm I'm very pleased where he is right now I think he's going to be allc conference back for us but you know we got a couple of them AJ Rogers having a good Camp Christian Mosley is probably the fastest one back there and uh he's having a solid Camp as well so I'm pretty pleased but you know it starts up front and whenever you see running backs you know hitting holes and hitting creases you know the big guys are are Paving the way and making holes for them say mosy was the one that I wanted to ask you about too I individually but him especially just seeing him and his skill set uh what does he bring what do you like about his game out here M's fast now he's he's got that track speed so if he has a crease he can take it to distance and uh once he gets off you know nobody's going to catch him so that that's the big thing with him he's he's the game has changed with our team speed uh I think we're much faster than we were last year uh we got a little more length but uh Mosley is a home run headit out the back field and Rogers last but not least here I know you got a freshman too asking about him but Rogers what kind of a back is he uh how much better can he be than what we're seeing out here right now the big thing with AJ Rogers was you know uh consistency and confidence you know the coaches believe in him but you got to believe in yourself and uh I I see him uh moving around a little better now he's a physical downhill back so um you know we tell him you know get the ball in your hands let's go downhill one cut and let's get downhill but very physical back and he's a you know compliments those other guys and this is a uh situation where you've got three you've got three instead of like when they say you got three quarterbacks you don't have any quarterbacks I mean you got three running backs I'd assume you run them in rotate them out as uh as need be per skills right definitely and you know we we we going to play a bunch of backs we're going to play a lot of guys first especially early on it's going to be so hot so uh Zion The Freshman that we got that that we have in here um he's having a great Camp as well and you know he's going to be the next best one that comes through here but um it's going to be a long season the guys going to get banged up here and there so you know we feel as though we're comfortable with four really good running backs how important is it for you guys to establish that right off the top here right off the jump right off the gate uh we going to establish the Run game um it's very important because you know um we can get the running game going that mean it'll open up our big plays on the offensive side with intermediate routes short routes m had a great standard for us uh we just going to build up off of what he had set for us and uh strive for even better be great coach called you in every down back uh how much pressure is that on you to go out there and to perform and to uh you know be the leader in that uh room because you got some competition in there yeah um the guys pushed me man uh I push them it's it's a great honor you know being able to you know help the offense out in any which way I can uh I think that's a great thing what is that room like it doesn't seem like there's animosity in there it seems like like you said everybody's pushing each other and everybody if you're not in there is clapping and waving the towel for the next guy that's kind of uncommon how nice is of a situation is that uh it's very nice man I love the guys in the running back room I love I actually love everybody on this team but the guys in the running back room man those those are my brothers um we've been through a lot you know what I'm saying how important is versatility not just being able to Tote The Rock take it between the tackles but to be able to flare out and catch passes because I no that you guys going to be doing a lot of that as well it's definitely going to help uh with our offense because you know we have so many weapons uh it's going to be very hard to stop was
