game weekend Series in Baltimore and on the surface these are two really good teams this season both uh playoff contenders Houston of course started off slow and they have pulled ahead now in that Western Division by five games in fact Astros are seven- 19 out of the gate they have quietly gone 61 and 39 since one of the best records in baseball Orioles meanwhile are not leading their division but they also have one of the best records in baseball 20 games above 500 uh but their current form is a little dicey just 10 and 10 their last 20 only 14 and 16 over the past month Astros meanwhile are 18 and 12 so Houston a little bit better current form but I actually like Baltimore in this game for few reasons and I think that's the way to play it once again if you're going to play it I would lay it with the Orioles and burns tonight minus $150 and burns is a large part of that equation now he's been fantastic all year in fact heading into his last start last week his ER for the season had been below three every game this year he had never had a below above three RA in fact he had a 1.5 ra after game one um after the first month there in April 2.6 2.4 after May 2.3 after June 2.5 after July you get where I'm going he's had a solid season he entered the last game um last week on August 16th um that was last Thursday with a 2.7 ER for the season he was so bad in that start last Thursday against the Red Sox that he now is a 3.1 ra and that was his worst outing of the Year given up eight runs in just four Innings now we could dig deeper is something wrong with Burns no I don't think there is and this is a classic class a bounceback situation for one of the best pitchers in baseball so I do think Burns throws better tonight and the Orioles will benefit from that back at home here as they start this big weekend Series against the Houston Astros it's a focus spot for Baltimore also want to point out that the Orioles have been good against winning teams this year in fact the Yankees and Orioles are both 15 games above 500 against winning teams I point that out because you look at a team like the Guardians just three games up the Astros five games below 500 against winning teams the Mariners three games below um and that Kansas City Royals eight games below so that's once again why I think the Orioles and Yankees are the two teams to beat in the American League Baltimore 44 and 29 against winning teams Houston just 27 and 32 and we get Corbin Burns one of the best pitchers in baseball in a bounceback spot after a terrible outing last Thursday if you're going to play it I would lay it with the Baltimore Orioles minus $150 that's on Fox National TV at 7:15 Eastern now there are two national TV games tonight on Fox the other one is Braves Phil he's a huge
