when you look at this team all the good all the all the bad all the stuff that we don't really know yet about it's not about like the Giants winning to I know that this sounds Odd as much as it is for me going into the season and by the end of the season fully determining whether or not they've got the right general manager and the right head coach I unlike a lot of a lot of lot of giant fans believe it's a lot more up in the air than other people do now based on your opinion you're saying or do you think that they could actually make a change cuz I think there are a couple different layers there that's a good question it's it's it's mostly rooted in my opinion but it's also based on the notion and that well the fact that bill belich is out there and the owner said he expects significant Improvement this year okay so a couple things my thought I I don't disagree necessarily we always focus on Daniel Jones and the players and what are they going to do and I do think that it's kind of taken for granted here that Shane and dble are going to be the guys but I think there's good reason for that I fully believe in Brian D as a head coach I'm not as sold on Joe Shane as the general manager I know they you know come as a tanom work together and it's odd or rare that you would keep a head coach and fire the general manager if anything you Jets usually do that right if if anything and this isn't even good but if anything you would fire the head coach and have the general manager pick another head coach I don't think that's going to happen here so I am looking at them as a true tandem as it should be and not only do I believe in dble more so than but but the Tandem and look they need to prove themselves to your point like it has not it's been inconsistent so far so maybe I don't want to say make or break but maybe this year helps Define what they are is it going to be more stability and some progress and you could start seeing the the building blocks of a foundation that could be successful moving forward or is it going to go sideways and you start to question the highers but from a Giant's perspective and I don't know if this impacts my opinion necessarily because I do fully believe in Brian dable I also fully believe that the organization is not making a change I believe they're like this is just the beginning of Shane and d and maybe it's going to take year five before Giants ownership makes a change remember how much turnover BT there's been so I believe we're in the midst of a long-term run with these two good or bad I think this is Shane and D's team for the ne for the foreseeable future I hope that you're right I I don't know I definitely don't feel the same way not that it can't be you know you look at the and there's a couple of ways to look at it I mean the the overachievement or maybe bigger slice of the pie couple things I want to I want to I want to get out there so since the Giants started 6-1 all right and really going back to the first game again against Tennessee where he was he was all over Daniel Jones and the template was was set we like okay this is what we want here this guy's the dog and Jones responded it was a great start and obviously a very fun season but since that 6-1 start uh the Giants are 9917 and one okay so you measure teams and and tandems head coach GM tandems a couple of ways well number one do you win number two what do you do in the in the division against the best teams the Giants are one and8 against the Dallas Cowboys in the Philadelphia Eagles since they came and by the way most have been mop jobs 40 zip uh at home last year against Dallas so so that is problematic the here's the other thing that's expired I think this is very important stop wasting time on the Ghan blame game I don't want to hear it that's over that is done and not only is should to be over and done if anything I think there maybe people should l gettman a little bit more than they do there's eight players on this roster going into the season right of the from from the gettman era two of whom are the best players on the team by far and those two guys are among the best players in the NFL at their positions one is Andrew Thomas and the other is obviously dexon lawren so I don't want to hear about Gman Dallas and Philly you never beat them you haven't done much since you won six of seven to start in 2022 and now you're on your second defensive coordinator there's been some in turmoil now he's assuming the Reigns is the play caller like there's only so many ways to Pivot and I want to be clear I like dble and I believe I believe in Brian dble I like Joe Shane and I believe in Joe Shane but if you don't beat the Vikings and I'm not just oh one game no but this is one of the few teams you're supposed to be this is a huge game for that it's a massive game the Giants are not winning a lot of games this year I'm telling you right they're not if there is an El element of dysfunction like there was a year ago change is coming yeah see I don't think the change is coming and I think you bring up some excellent points like they should be more front and center if anything to me Joe Shane now I mean how many years do you think it really takes to see a general manager have his footprint on a team and okay all right so we're still early on in the process here they've done some good not not early but not late and not early the reason why I believe in dble more so than Chan is even last year where they were looking for an extended period like the worst team in the NFL we were talking about like are they going to win three games and he dug them out even though they didn't have the talent even though all the injuries dble got them to a point of somewhat respectability after that horrific start so I believe in him maximizing whatever he's got on the roster I don't know if Joe Shane can build a championship roster and generally BT the biggest way you judge a general manager is what they do with quarterback and that's why I'm so infuriated that Daniel Jones is still here but I can't just say well we got to wait to see which one they pick because this is the quarterback that they picked however we got here right or wrong they decided say year three now with Chan and dable Daniel Jones is still their quarterback going into the season that's on them I believe in Brian dable and I actually think the Giants will do better than like I'm not going to say they're going to win a lot of games but I think they're going to do better than most people think if they don't win this game this this game week one at home against the Vikings I mean all bets are off here now again do I think it's going to fall apart no I trust Brian D but they if you believe in the Giants that means you believe in D this year because you can't believe in the roster overall it's not that talented but they have to win week one against Minnesota to get this season off on the contention of giant fans in football fans in the city walking around saying H these guys are early and they're evalu they're not last year was ugly and I've got to reassert this when your GM's got to go on on Game Day pop on a headset to see what the hell's going on with the coaching staff that's not good yeah and and maybe we're just I don't want to say we're but maybe those giant fans or even myself were getting too caught up in what happened in the first year and maybe if they didn't start out that way in the first year you know they exceeded all Expectations by Miles and then we got caught up in that so last year looks even worse than what it was maybe in reality because of the way that they exceeded expectations in year one this is going to be not make or break I mean it should be for Daniel Jones but this to me BT will be the the true year you bring up all the facts and you you said it perfectly there but this will be the first true year where we could really see what Joe Shane's team is going to do I believe dve will get the most of it but will the players that Shane has drafted and brought in be enough to get to 8 n wins it's the biggest question pertaining the a Jets fan that I was always a little envious of was their stability and their patience and their prudence and they got away from that and outside of 2022 I mean the Giants were on this hellacious run where they weren't even competitive man and they were tough to watch they couldn't score they couldn't stop you failed they were disaster they were like the Jets and and so I do think that ownership is motivated to get back to that I I I do but there is nobody that can convince me if we're sitting here end of October early November and the Giants are 3 and seven you know 3 and8 couple of wax jobs where they get destroyed that we're not talking Bill Bev because that is going to happen no matter what anybody say you see I don't believe and that's a whole different topic here I know one leads into the next one I don't believe belich is going to be with the Giants I do believe he's going to be with the Dallas Cowboys after McCarthy fails again and we could have that conversation throughout the course of the year I don't buy that the Giants are going to hire Bel I really believe they they believe they have the right people in Shane and dable and I do think they have the right coach in Brian dble but at some point and Shane has said it himself you know similar to David Sterns a little bit this year and I know Sterns year one but he started talking playoffs and the owner started talking playoffs even where the majority of us are like eh come on Fringe playoffs at best well and we may say the same thing about the Giants eh I don't know tough schedule you you don't stack up well against the Cowboys or the Eagles Shane's saying hey we got to win like at some yeah yeah you know what you do it's year three now the way that we got to year three is different could generally be year one you win four or five games year two you hope to win six or seven maybe eight games all right year three here we go yes and it's the the complete opposite with the Giants because the first year with no expectation they get to the playoffs win a road playoff game then year two you start to have some expectations think you're going to build off of that maybe not end off like with the results being as good as they are hard to win a road playoff game or a playoff game or get to the playoffs so maybe you knew the results may not take them as far but you wanted to see some building blocks it was a total regression for the New York Giants last year so now in year three it's like I don't know what to expect from the team but I am with you though BT if you believe in this chain and dble combination they have to start winning games there are no excuses I don't care how good the Eagles are or Cowboys Giants have to start winning games this year 888 808 1019 BT sou Clem's up at nothing better than watching baseball at Wrigley Field in the afternoon so Yanks and Cubbies today will get their series started obviously the Mets now tied for wild card spot so we'll get to all that later on but it's about football right now and even hearing the cowboy F like I believe I know the disparity has been significant between the Eagles Cowboys and then Giants I do believe and until point we have to see it I can't just sit here and say I in Brian D and Joe Shane I do believe that that it's going the Gap is going to close this year whether it's just the Eagles coming back down to earth obviously the Eagles in action tonight looking forward to that and Brazil taking on the Packers e either Eagles coming back down Earth Cowboys may be coming back down a little bit and accommodation of the Giants getting better I mean you're right PT it's year three it can't just be treated like it's year one and no expectations and it's okay to get waxed Again by The Eagles and Cowboys no no and by the way and you you make a good point about how it's it's almost been Twisted the to the point where it really does distort how we evaluate them because generally you have a new GM head coach you come in you inherit somebody else's mess which they did right and they spun their magic wand and they won nine games and they gave the Giants fans a meaningful riveting season a lot of fun and you know it was like man so we we kind of viewed it maybe differently or through a different prism because of their early success but you know you can't sit here for another year and you know get on the air after it's Dallas 38 Giants 10 or Philly 40 Giants 13 right I mean the Giants play those teams they get their heads handed to them okay so now let me ask you why do you think the Giants had what do you think the biggest reason is the Giants had that early success I think there was such an appreciable upgrade in coat like intensity uh detail uh the elimination of sloppy mistakes right yeah I mean I think that's a big part of it so for me it would be D exactly right because we all looked at the team easy schedule I hate to say that but it's true but that's fine but they did they did what they had to do and they beat some teams who didn't think they would beat and look maybe some Lux involved sure but to me the primary reason the giant succeeded year one was specifically Brian dable it's too early to have Joe Shane have his impact in year one agreed so it's it was Brian dable and also maximizing Daniel Jones so you could say yeah the players that were there with Gelman but dble knew how to use them now year two unfortunately Jones gets hurt the offensive line still mess that to me is more symbolic of the general manager the general manager should have his imprint felt by year two they should start to you know look like okay well here are the guys he's bringing in like Le Rose did right like all right year one is an evaluation cleanup period year two we're starting to go in the right direction and year three we should be taking off B that's the general manager perspective so that's why I favored Dall because I saw him Ed year one with an under talented roster and even last year I saw dble dig them out with again a roster that wasn't good enough this year to me is more on Shane I know they're a combo but I think it's more on Shane to show that he can bring in guys that are going to help out his coach close that gap between the Cowboys and Eagles let's get John up in Danberry Connecticut John what's cooking bud how are you guys happy football Friday I can't more excited to have season back baby nice but I'm a realistic Giants fan I I have to be real about this I can't expect Daniel Jones to bring you know this elevated game play to the field this year I think to your point a few years ago Daniel Jones was a little bit healthier there was excitement with a new coach coming in and I really do feel like Daniel Jones peaked at that time I think what I'm really looking for this year is just competitiveness I want to see a better run game I want to see see some some uh Malik neighbors light it up I want to see Jaylen hayatt light it up a bit but I think realistically we can't expect the Giants to win these close games you know 21 to 25 whatever it may be like I can't see the Giants pulling it out in the fourth quarter I just need to see a big step up this year I need to see the defense do well and then a transition next year to a better quarterback and step up this defense I I I think that that's a good way to look at it John but I also would say that I think it depends upon who you're playing to fit that script I mean yeah I think you said 2521 that's an odd score I'll say 24-21 no I don't expect them to roll into Dallas or Philly this year and win 24 to 21 I mean can you beat the Vikings 24 to 21 I mean I mean Sam darnold yeah I mean come on if they can't beat them and I if they don't win this game if they H I want to stay away from like the wacky you know big strong crazy but I believe this if they don't win this game it's a five win team yeah there's a lot there's a lot riding on their team well early on months ago we're like oh six and a half seems low for the Giants and then you go over the schedule and the back half of it is extremely difficult so I'm with you this is an imperative year one and I have another question I want to get to when we come back on the other side
