now we got Cam cormick man y'all don't know if y'all haven't heard about cam cormick is returning for his ninth year in college football I think if this is not the longest tenur college football player he's tied for number one yeah C tell us about a little bit about Camin cor Mr brother ep the truth all right I got you I got you so yeah this guy cam McCormick it's a extraordinary story like it when you hear it it says ninth year like you you're like how so to give our listeners a little bit of background I'm going read a little script on how did he get to this ninth year is I can't fathom that like shees okay here we go Miami tight end Cam and Corman will return for history making ninth season in college football in 2024 he announced Thursday mccormic finish this season tied with Norther Illinois Cal Pew for the longest college football tinger in FBS history member of the 2016 recruiting class he'll sit alone the top of that list next year nobody else be there McCormick initially enrolled at Oregon back when when the program was still under the direction of Mike HCK he spent seven years with the Ducks seven years hold on let me see seven years with the Ducks but was hampered by injuries in four cons consecutive Seasons from 18 to 21 he didn't see the field at all in 2019 or 20 in total MCC comped in 23 games at Oregon which roughly equates to two seasons with of of worth of games he red shirted in 2016 and 2020 the pandemic season which didn't count towards NCAA athletes eligibility class right so that's the trick that's the trick so he is coming if you look at his timeline mcor's timeline career red shirt in 2016 red shirt freshman in 2017 season in inj he got an injury waiver in 2018 2019 D missed the whole season due to injury 20 Co years snuck in 21 season end the injury uh 22 he's a senior he played in 13 games in 23 they granted him a year eligibility that he transferred to Miami in 2024 they granted him another yeah so that was my question like I thought it used to be right you only get one red shirt yeah right then the co stuff came so they allowed another red shirt here so he was able to get eligibility and get granted years Beyond those two red shirt years and and things of that nature pretty much what they saying is that when you get hurt they call it a hardship so although he was on the roster he didn't play because of injury so they would Grant you another one to say if you basically were hurt four years in a row season in the injuries every year in Camp you blow your ACL and you never got a chance to play the NCAA has the right they won't do it all the time it's discretionary for them to say here go four more years I'm being factious with that but you can apply to say I never had a chance to play I was just on the team so that's how he got there it's it's he's 25 years old out there 26 he's 26 26 okay I'm thinking about my daughter going to college she gonna be 17 like gez he's still in college with your da your daughter was like in seventh grade when he went to college and he first went to college yeah like six or seven six grade just as a person though I don't know if I would still feel confident going out there knowing I'm playing again like on the ninth year like I was trying to get out of there in three stay four you know like we didn't R shirts so just imagine you eight nine years you feel like you GNA go dominate these dudes like it's not even gonna be close like feel like man I'm gonna go kill this little 17y old kid in front of me like like that's like unfair like you have stronger bones manly muscle bones and stuff you f like I'm gonna go ahead and kill this dominate this this this little young man you no he's call R hey rookie he calling them rookies you don't call them freshman hey rookies go in there take this rep for me sit up hey boy I know it's 2024 but I remember when I was a freshman back in 2015 it look like what he was a freshman how how the heck you still here that's crazy just just to put it in perspective I retired from the NFL at 25 so yeah he's up there
