FSU football: Tate Rodemaker's Decision To Transfer, What's Next? #fsu #transferportal

spent some time with your family hope you got all the gifts that you guys wanted I received a couple cool gifts for the channel um I know some of you said I I needed some FSU Decor um so check it out this is uh this is a couple things got here so wifey got me this nice little sign to go there and I need to grab one thing and I got the little alternate color I know some people don't like the bu helmet I like The Bu helmet um that's pretty cool and then also got um this cool this cool Stadium thing that that lights up so going to going to decorate the uh the pad here shortly so you'll be seeing some new stuff in the uh in the coming episodes but anyway enough about that so I'm here to discuss the news of FSU backup quarterback Tate rootmaker announcing he'll enter the transfer portal on Christmas day no less a few days away from the Orange Bowl and um it's crazy Mike noville felt um the need to it seems like to subtweet the news a little bit um which is rare then you got um the report from the 247 guys about Ren maker missing meetings and practices U there's a there's a ton to impact here um but first I want to continue to to tell folks or FSU fans not to worry about the orange bow game look it is what it is um I mean you underdogs going into the game with Tate Ro maker I mean you got a ton of guys are going to be missing this game that you know were key contributors to um you know the SE season in 13-0 that team that went 13-0 is is over and done with you know nobody remembers these these bowl games unless you're fan of the two teams playing you know it'll be an opportunity for some young guys to get some some needed reps and preparation for next year so it's like a glorified spring game if you will except it'll be televised and be watched by you know a lot of people probably but back to back to romaker so you know he and his family deciding to to issue the news of him transferring on Christmas Day seemed odd um you know the the comment about FSU public publicly recruiting quarterbacks from the portal you know in a statement seemed the wording in that whole statement seemed odd from from I guess it was from the father and um I don't know it felt like it was orchestrated somewhat I mean why couldn't he play in the ball game and announced his decision afterwards and I'm not saying I'm not saying you know he he owed FSU anything that's not that's not what I'm saying but it's not like he's got a ton of tape for other teams to watch I mean granted he would be playing with you know some younger guys and you look the tape's probably not not going to look good either way um but it's not like he's got any really great tape to go on and he's been if for four years I mean he's got a few highlights against Louisville last year made a couple of nice plays against Florida but um I don't know it seems like he may have gotten wi of Fu uh accepting the commit from one of the quarterbacks that that visited FSU on an official visit and you know his family made an emotional decision to try and send a message to FSU with a timing of the news I mean the only problem is you know it didn't it didn't come across well with the fan base if that's you know if that's the look they were going for if they were going for like hey you know Tate's been here for you know four years you he's backed up Jordan Travis you know he's put in the work you know he's did everything he's been asked to do uh he stepped in and led effo to a victory over Florida in the swamp you know I mean I I see where they the angle that they you know they may have thought was going to resonate with the fan base but um didn't come across that way um because look at FSU I mean nothing's nothing's given I mean Jordan Travis didn't transfer whenever uh they brought in McKenzie Milton I mean he continued to compete he competed against James Blackman when Jame James pman was the starter I mean I don't know it just didn't come across well on the timeline from what I gathered and I wasn't online a ton during Christmas day I was I was out with with family uh spending time with them but from everything that I gathered it just it didn't seem like um it didn't seem like it came across well um you know listen as a former College athlete you got to earn that job every year nothing nothing is given I remember as a freshman I didn't see the fields for the first seven games I knew I was better than the guy in front of me I just needed an opportunity once I got got the opportunity I seized it once I once I became the starter though every year the coach brought in new guys that were trying to take my spot they never did but they were trying to you know I I never went into this each season like oh um you know I'm I'm for sure the starter at least that wasn't my attitude because I knew I knew what I did to a guy that was an upper Craftsman right so I had that in the back of my mind mind the whole time I got to put in the work and to maintain my spot and you know to reach my own goals that I was trying to do and um I mean also who's the say for sure that Tate was going to beat out Brock Glenn if they didn't take a transfer quarterback you know it's not like Tate lit the world on fire and he's been in Fu for quite a while I mean he should know the the offense you know you know like the back of his hand and um I don't know and also regarding the reporting from 247 about him missing practices and meetings from what I saw I mean there wasn't really a lot of context given about how long ago that was you know was that two years ago last year this year you know so I don't want to make too much of a judgment about that but but um seeing guys in in Tate's position as a former College athlete I could this is kind of what I would gather if if that's true you know it would seem like ROM maker was content with knowing he was the backup to Jordan Travis and didn't maybe didn't take things as serious as he should have as far as a competitor because I mean look I mean human nature is you know you conceding Jordan Travis as a starter you know you're never going to get to play unless it's a blowout or you know if he gets hurt but I mean look we you know we've seen Jordan you know get banged up or whatever so you got to think as you know you might have an opportunity if you stay ready and you know you but you can't you know you you can't have that approach and then assume you'll be given the starting job either because the coaches are at every practice and they're assessing these performances and when they went to pursue a transfer quarterback I mean that kind of told you everything you needed to know and I figured the riding was on the wall for radom maker I'm I'm surprised that he didn't announce the decision you know when they brought dju and cam ward in for official visits though um that's that's when it was assumed he would have play in an Orange Bowl because he didn't announce anything right but now that he's waiting you know literally a few days before the game to announce it and it's on Christmas Day I mean that's not a good look man that's not a good look so you know Fu arriv with Brock Glenn and a bunch of other young players in the game you know I would expect news from a transfer quarterback relatively soon uh I that's got to be that's the only thing that makes sense to me um that you know I guess he got word that are definitely taking a guy which I mean if they brought two guys in on ovs they're they're going to take a guy so that's why it was puzzling that he didn't announce beforehand and um you know and as I as I you know put in my last video that I dropped on Christmas Eve I think you can expect Fu to go ahead and start turning up the heat on some guys in the um in the transfer portal since we've gotten past Christmas you know you got a ton of bowl games left and um I'm you're going to see more and more guys in enter the portal more experienced and more proven guys from from better teams and so I would expect that for Sho to to to start you know making some Headway here in the transfer portal which I mentioned I mentioned uh in in an earlier video about I felt like the quarterback probably would be the Lynch pin to kind of get things going because that kind of dictates a few things if you get a quarterback then you're going to you know there's a need for offensive lineman and a wide and at least one wide receiver so whomever you bring at quarterback is going to influence those positions they've already taken Marvin Jones Jr and you know they'll need some more help as far as uh the defense inside of the ball as well and um but I think I think you you'll see some additions here um fairly soon as I mentioned a ton of their guys usually come in after Christmas uh historically um so from December 26th all the way through I mean January 18th that's when Trey Benson joined the team uh and if not in the spring which which is when they prefer um in May I mean we've had offensive lineman to join the team in May Keon Coleman join the team in May um this past year um you know so but yeah it's just it's just not a good look with Tate roadmaker in my opinion I mean like I said it just feels like um it was orchestrated a little bit and I think that's probably why why you saw that tweet from Mike Noll um I mean on Christmas Day I mean he's he on Christmas day you know you spending time with your family and you know you you think a guys going to be you know playing in the in the in the game in a few days and then you get wind of him you know announcing he's going to go into the portal I mean those are reps that that Brock Glenn could have been getting you know they could have been preparing other guys as emergency quarter back um duban and um you know some other guys that have experience playing quarterback and uh it's just um I don't know it kind of It kind of tells you tells you um a little bit about um you know that guy and look I'm not going to say him poo poo or Road maker look he is uh he's been Fu a long time and and he did I mean he did you know play his role as a backup quarterback or whatever but at the same time you're you're you're backup quarterback for a reason and again I trust the coaches U they felt the need to go and and get a quarterback from the portal like I said it is all about winning there's immense pressure on these coaches to win games and whenever you've been in a situation like Mark Mike Noel and you were eight and 13 after your first two years and then you finally get this thing turned around and go 10 and three and then 13 and0 look you you were not trying to go back to the days of 7 and5 and 8 and4 because it' be real easy for um opposing Rivals and others to just you know kind of like hey you know they that was that was that was a you know lightning in the bottle that they went 13 and0 they're not really that great and you know so he's you know he's fighting those narratives um if you haven't had a chance I wrote uh I feel like it's a really good piece on five narratives that Mike Noel crushed in 2023 he crushed a lot of them that were out there by rival fans and and some some narratives that our fans created well I wouldn't call them fans I think you know the these are people that were mad that someone else wasn't the coach and I'll just leave it at that but um yeah so I'm I'm just rambling at this point I just wanted to kind of get my opinion out there on this since I was busy yesterday with family and I hope you were spending time with your family also um but yeah we'll see what happens like I said I expect some some fireworks in the portal to come um fairly soon um Hell by the time you see this that may have already dropped but um you know we'll see but like I said
