Michigan Football Rumors: UPDATE On Sherrone Moore’s QB Battle + 2024 Depth Chart At RB & WR

we are just about two weeks into 2024 fall camp for your National Champion Michigan Wolverines and we're going to talk about the QB battle right updated you on some things last week it is kind of crystallized materialized where things stack out in the pecking order at quarterback and what to expect for the season opener what just 19 days away can you believe everybody Jack 19 days away also dep chart at running back and wide receiver is crystallizing on today's show we'll give you all the info we've got as after two weeks of camp but didn't want to ask you guys before we start the show football airport we got a lot to show talk about on the show today let's [Music] roll here's what we have on tap for you first up we're going to talk Michigan Q QB battle Alex orgy Jack Tuttle what's the deal with him uh and others after we reported the injury to Tuttle last week then the running back dep Shar everybody know Diamond Edwards right EA Sports cover boy kle mullings Mr jump pass himself but who is running back number three for Chiron Moore's first Michigan football team and then who's going to be your starting wide receivers for we expect to be a very pass light Michigan offense in this 2024 season no more JJ McCarthy and really no one who's at really any experience at the quarterback position in college football those are the topics on today's show first up your quarterback won your QB won for these Wolverines Jack Tuttle has been limited for about the past 10 days and as such I just don't see him being part of the plans that quarterback at least for the first few games of this season as Davis Warren and Alex orgy have seized the the snaps with the one uh the first team offense this fall camp now the battle between orgy and Davis Warren continues orgy to me is the odds on favorite to get the opening steps for the first game but it's a different offense right the Tuttle and the uh and the Davis Warren and other offense is different than the Alex orgy offense right the Alex orgy offense is read option short rout trees really nothing that's based on timing it's a bunch of guys either going deep or slicing across the field where he can kind of look around make a little quick dump off pass don't expect third and fourth reads and really don't even expect him to roll out of the pocket like JJ McCarthy did last year in the year prior and be running towards the sideline and just release the ball downfield or release the ball to a receiver along the sidelines that's what they don't want Alex orgy to do if he is in fact your starting quarterback for this Michigan team remember the D dard offense dard Robertson offense from 2010 and even a little bit of 2011 when Brady ho came on it's one read is the guy open is you know five yard hitch or little little you know gr across the middle if it's open throw it if not maybe look at one other guy or throw it deep to one wide receiver in single coverage if that's not there just just take off and run I expect a very very light passing game if in fact Alex orgy is your starting quarterback we're get some orgy in the endzone Jack we can get some orgy in the endzone uh if he game one starter though which if I was betting right now I'd put money on but I'm not guaranteeing that any by any means I would uh would say that he's your game one starter but that doesn't mean he's going to get every single step now if he performs and he absolutely blows out of the water against Fresno State August 31st and then goes in and beats Texas September 7th that's your quarterback no questions asked but if either one of those things don't go like that or if Michigan were to lose the Texas games which they won't of course um both those games and then you know the week after that Michigan will have multiple quarterbacks rotate in I expect Davis Warren see what Tuttle does if he comes back from injury he's back he's making throws that he was making all summer long then he could be getting snaps with the ones in those first three or four games for Michigan Orgy seems to have won the locker room for this team he's the player that diamond Edwards and samage Morgan and the offensive line really gets jacked up about kind of reminds me a lot of JJ McCarthy in 2021 they just kind of have a little bit of more uh pep in their step when he is in there at quarterback so that plus the total injury plus the fact that he's just making more plays and they've kind of dumbed down the passing offense for him I think it's a pretty good uh BET right now that he will be at least your game one and game two starter after that it's going to depend on the play for the red shirt sophomore out of you know out of Dallas Texas Jack we might even be I might even be on a plane trip with his parents the the the J uh what's it called the uh uh the Green Brothers they used to be in playes with their parents all the time back in like 2018 and 2019 that Friday night flight Dallas to Detroit maybe I'll be on the uh plane we'll have an orgy on the plane let me know what you guys think of this number I put the over under at 16 you're going to say of course he's going to throw for 16 touchdowns he's the starting quarterback in Michigan well we put like 25 for JJ last year he didn't even hit that so what is the number for Alex GE I'm putting 16 as the over under you can't say he's going to hit 16 zackly give me a over under down in the comments I want to kind of get the Vibes if he's your starting quarterback and let's just say he starts at least 10 or 11 of the 12 regular season games and of course into the playoffs let me know over under 16 passing touchdowns for Alex orgy I'm leaning under here right I am leaning under I hope to be proven wrong but it's not because uh you know I think Alex orgy can't hit the barn you the the BL what's the the phrase there broadside of a bar that's what it is is because I don't think Michigan's going to give him a lot of opportunities to pass inside the 20 want to play m Stak free football and if he's going to have you know when he's inside the 20 it's either going to be a pass to di Edwards and short pass or he's going to be taking off running the running game with him uh the running game with the running backs or uh maybe some swing passes out of the back field but that's where the majority of his passing touchdowns will come he'll probably get a few deep passes in there as well but don't expect any of those JJ McCarthy 28 yards out and just a strike down the middle to a tight end to a wide receiver I don't see orgy being that kind of passive for this team I certainly don't think that Michigan coaching staff is going to trust him especially right out of gate with a team replacing 10 of 11 starters Michigan football YouTube some news from this morning Michigan ranked number nine in the preseason AP poll was ranked number eight in the coaches poll that came out last week there's a lot of haters out there Jack a lot of haters a lot of doubters in the media we're not one of them they're number one in the JY 365 poll but some other big 10 teams in the top 10 Ohio State just like the coaches poll ranked number two Oregon also in the coaches ranked number three and Penn State ranked number eight I believe they flip-flopped in the coaches poll Michigan was eight Penn State was nine but nevertheless that is the top 10 in the new Big 10 USC in there ranked I think was any other teams ranked I can't remember um a lot of SEC teams in there for sure I think the top nine Big 10 SEC was Utah somewhere in the team so it's become a two uh conference sport going into 2024 and Beyond Michigan football schedule you start the year with five straight home games Fresno State top 10 match up against Texas who is ranked number four in the preseason polls Arkansas State then USC right kind of a really tough first four weeks with Texas and USC both coming to the big house five home games in the month of September at Michigan Stadium you head in the road after that to Washington right the only team in major college football replacing more starters than Michigan is Washington Jed fish former Michigan offensive coordinator their head coach we'll see what they have for the Huskies you got to buy at Illinois home against Michigan State that should be like 56 to nothing and then you've got maybe the second biggest game of the year outside of Ohio State maybe outside of Texas but this isn't the Big 10 it is Oregon coming to the big house so look your first seven eight games of the year you got a Texas you got UC and USC and Oregon coming to Michigan Stadium one of the better non Ohio State home stadiums uh home you know slates that we've ever had for this team at Indiana a buy this November schedule a hell of a lot easier right you got Indiana that's basically a buy knock on wood Jack knock on wood three knock three knocks all right cool guys give me some three knocks knock on wood we got the crew in here watching today by week Northwestern at home and you go on the road to beat Ohio State again for the fourth straight year after that Michigan's go for the fourth 10 title again that's what could be could be a little tricky there right because they're probably gonna have to play Oregon or Ohio state for a second time maybe a Penn State if things really get crazy in the Big 10 and then I got four wins after that Michigan boom 16 and0 back to back let's get into the depth chart at other positions first team wide receiver seems to be set as we're two weeks into this uh 2024 fall Camp under sh Mo so here's the guys right two of these names should be no uh uh you know new names to anyone who's followed this team Tyler Morris uh out ran the entire Alabama team in the second quarter of the Rose bows scored a touchdown he's going to his Junior season second year starter samaj Morgan was kind of Michigan's fourth wide receiver last year behind uh Ronnie not Ronnie Bell um Cy Le Johnson noran Wilson and Morris uh he's going to make a lot of plays he's going to get little you know dump off passes he's going to get reverses things like that just like last year and then the man who's been lighting up fall cap Fred Moore Frederick Moore the sophomore played in most games last year but mostly on special teams uh Michigan won't run a ton of three wide receiver sets right you're going to see more two tight end sets than three wide receiver sets but when they go to that three wide receiver set those are the three guys I'm fairly confident will be your starters top of the depth chart and taking all the snaps with the first team offense in three wide receiver stats so far in Fall camp now amarian Walker right if you guys recall uh came into Michigan as was a wide receiver early on as a recruit then came in played Michigan defensive back for two years where the talk of spring Spring ball in 2023 didn't really materialize in B Camp last year was a backup player this year transferred to Old Miss in January or in December right went through Spring ball with them transfer back to Michigan in April so it was a a quick turnaround things Michigan shmore said okay cool you want to play wide receiver that's why you transferred out you can be wide receiver here freaky athletic 6'4 can jump out of the gym but we will see what he can do in the field has yet to do really much of anything as a Michigan football player through two years a lot of hype he's next Factor could be somebody that Michigan just throws jump balls to In The End Zone uh to prevent Alex Georgie from having to throw over the middle potentially have some turnovers guys one more time it's at Michigan football airport on Instagram Michigan football report link is down back position freshman Jordan Marshall has been the talk of Camp when it comes to running the ball behind damin Edwards behind kle mulling former linebacker the Hassan H Haskins of the Next Generation Marshall Kirby running back three right now for this team I think if the season started tomorrow he would be let's flash back to uh when he committed you committed a couple years ago when he was part of this 2024 class um pretty much a consensus you know top the top 100 125 players but because Rivals ranked him so high and other running backs moved around he was a number 78 in the 247 Sports composite overall player in the class regardless of position but you see three of the four recruiting Services had him ranked outside the 100 it's really that Rivals one that kind of bumped him up at number 78 247 Sports their rankings at 155 ESPN number 104 and then on three at 122 here's my depth chart if the season started today no surprise Diamond Edwards the dawn 75 yards 85 yards the man himself the cover boy k mullings um he's got another year of of Eligibility surprisingly right khle mullings was a part of that 2020 class this is fifth year on campus but because he register the year and he of the co year he actually come back in 2025 for a sixth year but I think the emergence of Jordan Marshall this fall camp and Beyond going into uh you know next year I think Marshall will get some snaps this year we'll have maybe I don't know every single game but he average five carries a game right maybe some games he gets 10 12 carries some games he gets one or two or but as we go into the 2025 season he should be your favorite to start as Diamond Edwards goes on to the NFL clearly going to be a top five top 10 draft pick almost guaranteed in my book and then I think U kle Mo's role will probably stay the same next year as is this year he'll be the number two running back if he decides to come back for a sixth year going over to the DA Diamond Edwards coming back for his fourth season will he have more or less give me uh numbers at 1250 right he had 993 yards as a sophomore in 2022 as back up to Blake km injury ridden season last year didn't get as many opportunities until the national title game a couple other games 1250 is the number I have right there will he have over 1250 yards rushing this season just give me a yes or a no down in the comments it's football season
