Michigan Football Takeaways & Analysis Week 1 vs Fresno State This Game Was Too Close For Comfort

[Music] what's going on everyone this is Jay from Premier gaming entertainment here to bring to you my takeaways and Analysis video for the game that's just gone final uh versus Fresno State uh before enjoy my content definitely feel free to subscribe to the channel so let's just get into it um you know the the end result the ending score is not you know it's not an indictment of how close this game actually was um let's face it there's a lot of concerns with this team I know it's the first game and obviously there's still things that need to be wrinkled out but this is not one of those things where you know you have a few cupcake games after this that they can work on things and get things going before they get into the meat and potatoes that are scheduled like last year we got Texas Texas next week thankfully it's a home game but if we play anyway like we played this week against Texas we're getting cooked I mean that's just a given so obviously the the biggest issue is the offense and I knew it was going to be an issue coming into the game I just didn't know it was going to be this bad now I heard all these things about how the offense was beating the defense and to be honest with you when I was hearing all those things I was more concerned about the defense than I was about the offense and that's because I had all my concerns about the offense so if the offense was beating the defense I'm like is a defense any good but the def the defense held their own for this game the offense it it's there's just so many holes in this offense first let's start off with the running no actually for the for quar running game the passing game quarterback situation still iffy Davis Warren he's okay I mean he can make throws but man you can see the drop off between how JJ was Runing this offense and now he was in I mean he was okay he didn't he made that one couple bad throws the interception he just let it hang up there he's even more of a decent throw as a touchdown but um I mean he he managed the game okay not anything to get excited about I mean I give him like a c great for the way he played orgy I mean is inconclusive cuz when he came in I mean it's obvious that he's not trying to throw but when he did run the football it was he made some explosive plays but man you can see why he's not going to be the starting quarterback for this team I mean I mean the the the the touchdown he threw I mean that was just like a three- yard pass but when he had to roll out and you threw that ball and short hopped it to the wide receiver I was like good God so obviously accuracy is still an issue with him and that's why he's not the actual guy getting the most of the most of the Reps because he's just not a threat throwing the football so obviously that needs Improvement the running game maulings was great but I'm concerned about Donovan Edwards you know he's he's a great home run hitting guy I mean if he finds the hole I mean he's gone he's got that explosive running ability but I don't know if I can see him as an all a three down back he's just so inconsistent it's just like before it's like he just like if he gets contact he just goes right down like he's not a guy that you can line him up on the goal line and expect him to get tough yards that that's why corm was the guy that was just in there for those uh goal line situations he just doesn't have that he's not a he's not a short yardage guy he's a guy that he'll get you big plays home run hitting plays but if you need two to three yards he's not that guy so it's going to be interesting to see how they go going forward I mean when it was all said and done mullings was rb1 I mean Donathan Edwards he's great in you know going out wide catching passes you know he'd be good in the screen game you you know stuff like that matchup nightmare you know but running the football I don't know if he's the guy wide receivers another issue not anybody out there that really scares anybody I mean that's a concern too not not really anybody getting open not really anybody showing out making no one that I can sit there and say that's our number one wide receiver I just don't see it Coulson hin he's a beast obviously arguably the best tight end in the all entire country showing to me show more to me this game in other games I I'm not even talking about from catching a football I'm talking about from the blocking aspect so we're good in that area but the wide receivers that's an issue and I know some of this the quarterback play cuz Warren his deep ball is just not the the ball just hangs up it's almost like I don't want to say it but I I got to say it his deep ball reminds me of how Cage's deep ball was it's like it just he doesn't have the arm it just floats up there that's that's why the ball got intercepted he's got a wet noodle for an arm so unless that changes you're going to see exactly teams are going to play us like they played when Kade was back there you're going to crowd the box like Fresno did and just have one high one high safety and have 8 n man boxes and dare Michigan to throw the bar ball further than 10 yards down the field I mean that's going to be a recipe for disaster going forward for this team I mean defense played like lights out to give up a few plays that last second last series for Fresno where the guy potentially got picked off three times first one that was just like last year where quinnon Johnson where the ball hit the ground that was obviously not an interception I don't even know why he went through the shade of the Buffs and everything like that you know the ball hit the ground but that second interception not roughing the passor call man that was a bunch of crap so it was just poetic justice that will Johnson got that pick six so in all in all the team played all right um you know 30 to 10 at the end of the day is a convincing Victory you know a win is a win um Fresno is a good team defensively they they look like they're pretty good decent at least I mean you got to put some of that on Michigan's offense that made Fresno's defense look good but I think those they're a decent team their offense isn't that great either but um you know they they look like a team that could potentially be fighting for that uh you know a group of five playoff spot so we just have to see but um uh I mean I'll briefly go over the the defense defensive line play with Stout um edge with Moore and Josiah Stewart Stewart is I mean he's just a he is definitely a problem um you know he was in the back field it seemed like every single play he's just a just quick off the ball between him and Moore just causing all types of havoc in the back field the middle of the defense with the tackles of you know really really de decent job they didn't really I mean you you saw them call their name a few times but not really getting a lot of pressure pass rush wise but good on the running game um just all in the middle Graham and Grant I mean that's you know they're going to do their thing and the line as a whole is going to be very very good uh the linebackers are pretty good baram man he is really really good an amazing pass rusher I mean he cause a lot of quick throws a lot of errant throws with his ability to pressure the quarterback um secondary was okay very you know decent they gave up a few plays but all in all played a good game will Johnson got beat a few times but made up with it was the pick six at the end of the game so on all the defense played well I give them a B+ they gave up 10 points in total for the game which is around their average that they gave up last year so we'll just have to see how they play against uh tougher opponents opponents with better offenses and see how they play going forward so happy for the victory or 1 and0 um you know it's on to Texas uh obviously next week is going to be a much more difficult game against uh you know a top five opponent so we're going to have to be on our aame we have to play we have to play better than we played this week if this was the week that we had to you know Iron Out The Kinks get the bad play out the way you know whatever we
