Fresno State vs Michigan | College Football Predictions, Picks and Best Bets

[Music] uh the Michigan Wolverines begin the Chiron Moore era they're going to welcome in the Fresno State Bulldogs it's a 7:30 p.m. eastern time kick on NBC Michigan a 21o favorite at home uh was 21 a half earlier in the week uh got bought down a little bit the total sits at 45 a half at bet us right now the implied score here 33 to2 somewhere around there not too shabby uh Michigan 9 and2 against the spread in their last 11 games as a favorite they crushed everybody on the way to the National Title last year uh but that was only after their early non-conference late where they went 0 and three against the spread this one happens to be one of those non-conference games Fresno only three and three as a dog the last two years so not much of a trend line for them in this respect uh I don't have a lot of thoughts here uh Fresno going to be with that their starting left tackle and their starting wide receiver Josiah Freeman is doubtful in this one not good to have guys out on offense you know when you're going against maybe the best defense in the country Michigan is loaded on that side of the ball however I mean the Wolverines did just receive a notice of allegations from the NCAA which means they could come out hair on fire disrespected or they might come out like a desal who who's to know right I've got no read here my number is right in line with this number here um Parker let's start with you tell me about Michigan but but also maybe give me a little bit on what Fresno's going to look like like under Tim Skipper instead of uh Jeff tford yeah of course we want to you know thoughts and thoughts and prayers coach Tedford having to step down for health reasons that's been that's been rough the last couple of Seasons a great college football kind of Legend guy um and and certainly you know sad that he he had to step away from the job um I think the game that like what we're looking for here at of Fresno State is just competence right like you're you're you're you're not favored in this game um and it's going to be it's going to be a little bit rough what what really can you put out there with the coaching change so want to keep an eye on them absolutely here but uh I think with Michigan like I Gary I I believe you were out on Michigan to make the playoff in the last couple weeks they've been getting some media hype here of like what if they are good they got a couple NFL guy like maybe even a couple first round guys on the defensive line there um and and that's really what I'm watching for in this game you know I don't I don't have a play on this number oh go ahead please again the defense is stacked the defense is really really good it's it is a play on do I think that Alex orgy can make a playoff and I do not I don't if he's the starting quarterback I don't think that they've got the passing game that they need to be able to get there so that's that's just me they could absolutely do it they got the talent to be able to do it but I think there's a lot going on with this program so I you know I I'm out on them making the playoff but I I feel good about the program overall continue on yeah yeah AB absolutely and and and and I think it's a good distinction to say like there is value and a bet on them not to make the playoff while still saying like they're probably going to be a good college football team generally um this defense what what I'm really looking for is kind of the Run game uh you know Fresno last season was a little more balanced towards towards the past and in the past we've seen offenses you know with like Jay Kaner where they want to sling it around and can connect downfield pretty well uh mostly I just care about this game for Michigan's offense to see what they're going to do against Texas remember Texas is losing those two big guys up front what's Michigan's Run game going to look like I think they should absolutely steamroll Fresno here in the Run game um and and if they can take care of business there and their defense looks as suffocating as possible I'm going to be interested in that Texas game because I think it's a good spot for Michigan so no no play here I've got this at about 17 and a half for for Michigan so I don't see a lot of value in the play uh but I'm I'm looking for can Fresno State just be confident and and lose you know kind of normally in this game and then Michigan exactly what you're pointing out Gary what are they going to do in the P game I I hope they get orgie a bunch of reps here I I hope that he throws too much just to see what they've got get him live game reps because we know those are different than practice so Michigan uh probably still going to have a talent advantage over everybody but there is a lot going on in the offseason uh for them can they do in in that offensive game to to back up what could be a historic defense yeah I think I think we're not just going to see orgy in this we're probably going to see some of war in two and and we'll figure it out from there right uh next week's the big one so you know let's move over to Kyle where are we going to go with a handicap on this one so going into this one um I was looking at a low total uh big spread you know that I've talked about this before you know you get these 20 point total 20 point spreads with a 45 point total the dogs of done really well in these so I told myself if this is bigger than 21 I have to take Fresno it is 21 so I'm going to try to isolate a team total under instead with Michigan here I think this is um a decent amount of points for Michigan against a Fresno defense that I think is pretty good Cory Foreman a really good transfer comes in on the defensive line like he was a top two or three uh defensive lineman uh when he was recruited so I definitely think he could have a good year for Fresno State the secondary is an area of strength I think the problem for Fresno is their offensive line against Michigan's defensive line that's kind of why I want to take a team total under because I'm afraid that Fresno won't be able to score very many points here um Keane good quarterback they have an offensive line Tedford stepping down kind of changes things for Fresno State uh they still have pretty solid Talent um to me Michigan's defensive line is the strongest unit on the field anywhere but Michigan's offense has plenty of questions and even though you think maybe they could throw the ball a decent amount you they also play Texas next so do they want to show a lot you know maybe it's safe passes maybe you try to do uh screen passes something short to try to give them some uh positive things happening but I think it'll be a fairly vanilla game plan we've seen Chiron Moore be willing to run the football in the second half a lot in the past I think they run the ball use a bunch of clock I'm gonna take Michigan team total under here I can get with it let's lock that one in Kyle going to take the team total under 31 A5 uh that's a market line on that one yeah I I cannot disagree with this or how about this I tend to agree I tend to agree uh I think these look ahead spots are are very serious especially in the playoff format that we've got now because you don't want to give away too much you don't want to play guys too long no reason to get anybody hurt right so under 31 and a half I can roll with it I can
