Breeze Airways' decision to launch operations at Tweed New Haven Airport meets mixed reviews

Hi, good evening to you both. The right now a bell is the only commercial airline flying in and out of three New Haven airport here with 27 destinations. Now four months from now three airways will be joining them on the tarmac here, adding 10 of its own destinations. We are here to announce our instruction. Breeze Airways is ready to make New Haven, its new home come December and into the New Year. Breeze will fly out of Tweed nonstop to 10 destinations in spots like Florida and eventually Virginia and Louisiana joining a vow the only commercial airline to operate here for years. We fly brand new Airbus A 220 s very low noise profile significantly lower. It's a next generation aircraft competition is a good thing because it keeps pressure on prices and there's a lot of a lot of additional options for New Haven residents and the residents in the region to mitigate the impact on the community. Mayor Justin Eli says Breeze will only fly after 7 a.m. and before 10 pm. This as many nearby neighbors have spoken out against expansions at the airport with plans to extend the runway and add a new terminal still in the works, the noise, the safety, um, you know, the, the volume, the reverberations, the traffic on the street. It's just all, you know, it's all horrible. Patrick Roland lives about 4000 ft from the runway in East Haven. I'm not excited about more, um, to say the least with the window shut and the air conditioning on, at 631 in the morning, the airplane wakes me up at two or three o'clock in the morning when they land, they wake me up. There is no amount of insulation and no amount of improvements that can fix that. That insulation was offered to these New Haven neighbors by the airport five years ago. They say it did cut down on the noise right off the bat. You could tell a big difference with the windows. I personally have no problem with the airport or anything that they did for us. I was just very grateful that they did. Now Breeze will be operating here at the airport long before those expansion plans are expected to come to fruition here. Now, as for those plans, airport officials say they are in the works right now. They are in the permitting and planning phase and they hope to have an update on when we can expect this all to happen in the fall. We live here in New Haven tonight.
