Top 20 Tight End Rankings & Tiers - 2024 Fantasy Football

Intro what is up everyone it's Quinn here and in today's video I'm going to be running through my top 20 tight end rankings for the 2024 fantasy football season I've already gone through my running back wide receiver and quarterback rankings so if you haven't seen those you can check those out after this one but today we're focusing in on the tight ends ranking my top 20 and then splitting them up into tiers I think it's a pretty interesting year at the tight end position you have your Elite options you have some solid maybe slightly unproven mid-tier tight end ones and then I think you have 101 guys that you'd feel pretty confident throwing into your starting lineup in week one so let's just dive Tier 1 right into it and I want to start off in tier one and I think my tier one is going to look a little more compact than other people I have Kelsey leaport Trey McBride and Andrews in that order all in tier one but I think they're all very very close together on most platforms you're going to see a pretty decent gap between the duo of Kelsey and lorta to then Trey McBride and Mark Andrews and I just think that Gap should not be that extreme so starting off here with my tight end one Travis Kelce he definitely comes with some risk he's 34 years old could definitely fall off the age Cliff at pretty much any point but I'm just making the BET here that he has enough juice for one more big season even in a down year last year for his standards at 14.6 points per game he was still the tight end one in points per game I'm expecting a bounce back from this Chief's offense um Kelce didn't hit big time in the touchdown Department last year the chief's offense was League average compared to being like a top five top six unit every other year Mahomes has been the quarterback so I think we definitely could see Kelce like rebound to that 9 to2 touchdown area which we saw in 2020 through 2022 so I do like Kelsey as my tight end one if you favor a guy like leapa who I have as my number two I'm not going to push back super hard like I said he is my number two option they're going to be backto back in my overall player rankings leaport is coming off a great rookie season 14.1 PPR points per game that's the second most points per game for a rookie tight end ever I think it's kind of unclear at this point what Sam leaport ceiling is he definitely hit big time in the touchdown Department last year getting into the end zone 10 times I believe that led um all tight ends in the touchdown department but I think even if that number decreases he could definitely increase his volume it was just a great sign that he came in broke out right away you typically see tight ends they need a year or two to kind of break out settle into an offense Sam leaport did not need that he should be like the number two number three weapon I think him and jir Gibbs um behind Aman rossing Brown so someone who I do like here as a high-end tight end one and then someone who I'm definitely very high on also Trey McBride my tight end three and when we look at his overall point per game number from last year it's nothing crazy it probably doesn't stand out to you if you just looked at that you may not understand why I have him ranked so high or why he's being drafted so highly um and it really just comes down to the fact that he became the full-time starter in week eight and over the next 10 games of the season Once he was locked in as the starter Zack Herz went down he was out of the picture Trey McBride in the last 10 games averaged 15 PPR points per game that would have been the tight end one if he did it over the full season he was number one in Target rate amongst tight ends he was number two in yards per route run so when he was actually out there on the field he was very efficient and he was commanding a high level of volume at the tight end position I don't think those numbers are going to be quite as high now that you have Marvin Harrison Jr coming in you know a more clear number one Target but I'm pretty high on this Cardinals offense Kyler at quarterback you have Marvin Harrison Jr coming in Trey McBride showed us he's starting to break out I'm willing to uh you know invest in him here as a tier one tight end and then my final guy in tier one is going to be Mark Andrews and I feel like out of these four he's the guy that's being slept on a little bit might not be the flashiest player but still someone who I think does belong in this tier he was the tight end five in points per game last year but he actually would have been tied for the tight end one in points per game if we remove the game where he left with injury I think he missed a large chunk towards the end of the year and then came back in the playoffs but if we remove that game where he played a few snaps left with injury he literally would have been tied as the tight end one in points per game and I think people would be way higher um on him heading into this season he's a locked in top two target you know along with Z flowers he's been a top five tight end in points per game since 2019 so a very consistent option he's also flashed that 17 plus Point per game ceiling so I definitely think Andrews belongs here in tier one and I think he's you know probably going to be one of my more drafted tight ends him and McBride because we do see them getting drafted around plus later than Travis Kelce Sam leaport and I just don't think that should be the case I think this is going to be a tightly contested race to be the tight end one overall now shifting into Tier 2 tier 2 my tight end five is going to be Dalton concade and concade is set up here for a prime opportunity to break out in year two he had a solid rookie season tied in 14 in points per game I think people you know they weren't super excited about it he kind of you know was about where you drafted him at in terms of where he paid off but I think people saw Sam leapor absolutely Dominate and it made concade season you know feel a little bit disappointing but like I mentioned tight ends they typically take a little bit to break out cancade heading into year two that's definitely where he could take this leap this is a very unproven wide receiver room Stefan Diggs is gone Gabe Davis is gone you have Curtis Samuel coming in K Shakir kind of an unknown hasn't done a ton through two seasons and then they drafted Keon Coleman who could be great but you know he's a rookie wide receiver was an early round to pick there's no guarantee he comes in and just lights it up so there's a real path for Dalton concade being Josh Allen's number one target which on this bill's offense is a very very valuable role especially for someone who's playing the tight end position we look at the preseason usage he played on eight of nine snaps he ran routes on four or five dropbacks fine usage I'd expect him to have higher than an 80% route parti iation during the season but obviously we're looking at a sample size of like five dropbacks playing eight of nine snaps is a good sign to see um definitely seems like you know they want to get him out there they want him to be one of their top weapons so I like dton concade here as the tight end five doesn't have the proven production as some of the players you know going behind him or ahead of him but I think that upside is definitely there and I'm willing to shoot for that you know as early as the early fifth round area for Dalton concade now my other tier 2 tight end is going to be Kyle pittz and I can already assume some of you are watching this video you're rolling your eyes when I talk about Kyle pittz because it seems like every year people are hyping him up this is going to be the year he breaks out first it was his rookie year then it was year two then it was year three and it hasn't really translated fantasy-wise yet but I do think this is going to be the year we see a Kyle Pitts breakout he finally has good quarterback play with Kirk Cousins coming in Arthur Smith is gone this entire offense you know has pretty much been shaken up which is a great sign for Kyle pittz and I feel like you know people are writing him here he is still only 23 years old as a rookie he went for 1,026 receiving yards it wasn't a great fantasy season because the touchdowns weren't there but over a thousand receiving yards for a tight end as a rookie is great that would have led all tight ends in receiving yards last year just to you know give you some context there and then looking at his age even though he's heading into year four he is the same age as Sam lorta he's actually a year younger than Dalton concade so I'm very in on Kyle pittz this year I'd be willing to take him in the fifth round I think this is finally the time we get to see that leap and I think he might be you know picked at a discount because so many people are just done with him based on you know him kind of underwhelming in the past few seasons so that's tier two now shifting into Tier 3 tier three we are starting off here with George KD and I will say that if Brandon iuk gets traded I will be moving George KD up to tier two um I do have to point out his point per game has fallen every single season since 2018 which is obviously not ideal this is kind of a spot where it's like Talent versus situation where I think talent-wise he's a tier 2 tier one tight end in a different situation but it's just so tough competing for targets with dvo Samuel Brandon iuk CMC so we'll see how this auk situation plays out as the time I'm recording this like nothing has happened he has not been traded he has not um you know reup with the 49ers so kind of in this middle position here if he does get traded though if iuk gets traded um I'd be bumping George KD up into tier 2 and I'd feel much more confident drafting him there and then my other tier three tight end is Evan Ingram and I've honestly been going back and forth on whether or not Ingram should be in this tier or maybe down in tier four I guess I'd say that like if KD ends up moving up into tier two then I'll probably just scrap this tier and you know combine him with the guys I have going in tier four he's coming off a very solid season was the tight end four in points per game he led all tight ends with 143 targets 114 receptions he was second in Target share second in back he was third in receiving yards so I mean coming off a great season volume wise was commanding a ton of targets you know turning that into receiving yards making plays after the catch I do think his volumes probably du to go down here you know they draft Brian Thomas Jr they bring in Gabe Davis I think they probably want to attack down the field a little bit more than they did last year but I think in turn you could also see his touchdowns going up only scored four times last year four touchdowns on like 143 targets is just pretty unlucky so I think he's maybe slightly better than the tier four tight ends um but I do think there's reason to believe that volume does go down now shifting into Tier 4 that tier four uh group I was referencing my tight end at nine is going to be David and joku and I kind of feel like this is a similar thing with George kle not in terms of you know him competing with a ton of stacked weapons but it's a talent vers situation debate with good quarterback play David and joku could be in the running for tight end one overall that might seem crazy cuz he hasn't even been close to that but I do believe talent wise you throw David and joku on the Chiefs you throw him on the Lions and they use him the same way they're using you know their stud tight ends I think David and joku does have that legit upside at the tight end position in his last five games of the 2023 season he scored 16 plus PPR points that includes their um one playoff game so when flacko was in there you know he was dominating he was third in Target rate um third in Red Zone targets he was first in Yak on the season the downside here here is deshun Watson in the five games where deshun Watson played David and joku averaged 8.3 PPR points per game so we went from a dude who was you know his floor was pretty much 16 points when he settled in with Joe flacko to going to DeShaun Watson and he's not even hitting 10 plus points now five game sample size for both of those isn't great he'll probably you know finish somewhere in the middle but it's just a tough situation cuz like I said talent-wise he should be ranked higher I do think he's that good of a player but justan Watson the quarterback play hasn't looked great he's been inconsistent we really haven't even seen flashes of the dude that we saw you know before his suspension sitting out the year so I think tight end N is a fair spot um you know some clear pros and cons there for David and joku now my tight end 10 is going to be Jake Ferguson and Ferguson is in a great situation here heading into 2024 he was number two in Targets on the Cowboys last year this was the highest scoring offense so when we're going after some of these like later tight ends back and tight end ones you know the um kind of Flyers at the tight end position we want to be targeting guys who have the upside to be number two on their team in targets you don't want a tight end that's like buried third fourth fifth in targets because it's going to be really tough for them to pay off Jake Ferguson number two in targets last year reason to believe that carries over here into 2024 they really didn't add much competition um at the tight end position or the wide receiver position he also LED all tight ends in Red Zone Targets in 2023 so I think Ferguson's a guy who has the opportunity to put together a big touchdown season I don't think he quite has the same Talent as some of the other tight ends going around him David and joku Brock Bowers who I'm going to talk about in a little bit here but his situation is fantastic and that could definitely carry him um especially when it comes to his touchdown upside and then my final tier four tight end just said his name it is going to be Brock Bowers and I think his preseason um usage was pretty interesting I think it was pretty encouraging when we're looking at his role heading into the season he played 11 snaps and the Raiders moved him all over the place obviously the big concern for Brock Bowers is that this was a bad landing spot where's the upside going to be you know you have Devonte Adams there how is he going to break out early on but I think it was encouraging like I said so on 11 snaps they played him out wide they played him as an inline tight end they played him in the slot and then they also played him in the backfield so in just 11 snaps he was all over the place within the offense I think that's very encouraging to see when we're talking about Brock Bower's future outlook within this offense the downside though is that he only ran routes on five of the 10 dropbacks so I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic when it comes to Brock Bowers we know he's insanely talented The Situation's not great this is likely going to be a rough offense and I don't think he's going to be a 50% route participation guy but you're really hoping he's like 80 plus on this offense and if he's not it's tough to kind of see him having much upside but I'm fine taking a flyer here obviously a super talented player back in tight end one he's one of the top 11 tight ends that I'd feel fine you know going into my season as my tight end one so that's tier four now shifting into tier five we Tier 5 have Dallas Goddard and I just feel like he's a fine option if you punt the position pretty lukewarm on him don't hate him don't love him um he just comes with pretty much zero upside he's finished between the tight end 12 and the tight end five in points per game from 2019 to 2023 so you may be looking at that thinking all right well you're drafting him at number 12 that's been his floor over the past what like five seasons and you know that is true um but he's also just never hit a 12 PPR Point per game season I'd like to take a flyer on someone who has a little bit of upside um I don't know if that's honestly the best year for it here in 2024 I think the tight end position is kind of gross getting outside the top like 11 guys but gard's fine if you miss on one of the top 11 he could slide in there in week one and then my other tier five tight end is going to be Pat fouth and like I talked about when I'm targeting these later round tight ends I am looking for players who can be number two Targets on their offenses if auk is not traded to the Steelers which would pretty much tank fous value but if auk does not get Trad to the Steelers fouth should be the favorite to be the number two pass catcher you have George pickings and then you have just kind of a mess at wide receiver like maybe it's Roman Wilson maybe it's I think they've got like van Jefferson over there there's not a ton going on behind George Pickins and I know fouth is coming off a pretty awful 2023 but he was solid in 2021 solid in 2022 I don't think he's a crazy upside guy not a freak athlete at the tight end position but I think he'll be very serviceable and could easily end up finishing as like a backend tight end Tier 6 one now pivoting into tier six we have TJ hackinson my tight end 14 he's honestly just a tough guy to rank he tour his ACL in week 16 of last year before tearing the ACL he was great for Fantasy tied end two in points per game it seems like he's a lock to at least miss a few games but the difference between missing three four games and missing 78 is pretty significant if you're having to just like stash him on your bench um you know stash him um in the IR spot and you also have to consider the fact that he's not going to be the same dude we saw last year plus there are now quarterback concerns um you know JJ McCarthy out for the Year Sam darnold's going to be the guy but obviously a clear downgrade from Kurt Cousins and then we did get recent news um like I said I'm recording this Wednesday August 14th so Jordan Addison was hurt he was carded off I think originally people thought it super serious what I saw before I you know started recording this was that it's not super severe so if Addison's healthy in playing when hackinson is back he's probably the number three Target on a team with question marks offensively so I'm not super high on hackinson I really don't take him in many spots he's probably going to get drafted you know before I'd even be willing to consider um you know hitting draft on him so tacher hackinson tight end 14 in tier six my tight end 15 and probably one of my favorite you know late round tight end options options is going to be tesm Hill there are very few late round tight ends that I actually like this year and guys that I think have much upside so I'm completely fine on throwing a dart on Tamm Hill who we know is going to have very unique usage his usage is not going to look like any other tight end um you know in this video not even close right he's going to catch passes he is going to run the ball he's going to have a few pass attempts he's going to be scoring from all over the place um and we saw in the first preseason game he played the first six snaps with the starters and then they just took him out right they saw what they needed to see he was done within those six snaps he played in line as a tight end he played out wide he played in the slot and he played in the back field so he's going to catch passes he's going to get way more carries than you know your standard tight end and I also think he's going to be very involved in the Red Zone this is a Saints team with question marks at the running back position these Saints don't want to use Alvin K near the goal line Kendra Miller can't stay healthy seems to kind of be in the dogghouse and then Jamal Williams has been a tou down threat but it seems like he just hasn't been making a ton of noise really was a non-factor last year so I think Tamm Hill could definitely be a big factor within the Red Zone not saying they're going to score a ton of points but he does have some decent touchdown upside if he can get it both as a pass catcher you know and like a running back you know guy kind of going in there maybe playing quarterback goal line sneaks stuff like that so I'm fine you know throwing a dart on Tamm Hill here behind Tamm Hill I have Luke Musgrave and it seems like the usage for pretty much all the Packers weapons are up in the in the air we know the wide receiver room is likely going to be a committee with Christian Watson um Jaden Reed Wix Romeo dos and it might turn into the same thing at tight end with Luke Musgrave and Tucker craft but I'm fine taking a swing un like Musgrave potentially being the clear tight end one on a good offense with an ambiguous wide receiver room he's heading into year two when he was healthy last year he was their clear tight end one I believe Tucker craft is dealing with some sort of like torn Peck injury so he did not play in the first preseason game um Luke gra is a great athlete he was a round two pick he has the draft capital I think there's a decent amount to like here he's a solid overall profile and I'm fine you know throwing a dart on him as like a late round tight end play my tight end 17 is going to be Dalton Schultz and I know this is going to be much lower than consensus like I talked about earlier with trying to find guys that are going to be number two Targets on their offense I have very little interest in someone who is the clear number four Target at best he's competing for targets with Nico Collins tank Dell Stefan digs like that is rough Target competition in terms of like all three of those dudes being very very good and I just think that if you're in a redraft manage League we actually having to set your lineup you're having to start a tight end when would you ever feel comfortable starting Dalton Schultz it feels like he's touchdown or bust and he's a dude who scored five touchdowns last year that was with no Stefan Diggs and tank Dell who missed a decent chunk of the season so I see very little upside I don't see how he's ever a reliable play in your offense like I said it seems like you're banking on 3 430 and a touchdown and that's just not what I want I'd rather take a flyer on a guy like Musgrave Tamm Hill or some of the guys you know at a cheaper price going later than him who could potentially be top two Targets on their offenses one of those dudes is going to Tier 7 be Hunter Henry and he starts off tier s like I said we're shooting for that upside of being a top two target this Patriots wide receiver room is wide open we don't know what the pecking order is going to look like Hunter Henry he's established himself solid veteran I think he could definitely end up being a reliable option um for whoever their quarterback is then we have Tyler Conlin kind of the same argument here as the tight end 2 definitely a less established player than Hunter Henry but probably has some more upside um you know just being like the potential number two target for Aaron Rogers compared to the number two target for Kobe brassett rookie Drake may I just think outside of Garrett Wilson the Jets weapons are pretty suspect do have Mike Williams but you know he's coming off a season ending injury I think Conlin could just come in play a very solid role and be streamable at the tight end position and then my final guy here my tight end 20 is going to be Noah Fant and since he was traded to the Seahawks he has been a non-factor but Waldren is gone and I think Fant is talented enough to be a team's clear-cut tight end one he's been in a tight end by committee over the past couple of Seasons but before he was traded to the Seahawks he was the tight end 11 and the tight end 12 in points per game I don't know know if he's going to get quite up there you still have DK metf Tyler Lockett jsn but I think he's someone who could be playable throughout the season and maybe he's unlocked um by their new offensive coordinator so that was my top 20 but I do want to talk about one honorable mention and then before that I want to talk about Cole KT because I think people are probably wondering why he's not on here I can almost guarantee I'm going to get a comment saying where is Cole KT you know for people who just like looked at the rankings didn't watch the video and I was already low on Cole KT like heading into this season I did my top 15 tight ends he did not make the top 15 and I have just gotten lower and lower on him the preseason game was not great he was already similar to Dolan Schultz a best case scenario number four Target with DJ Moore Keenan Allen Roman dun you also have DeAndre Swift in the mix there but his preseason usage was atrocious like I mentioned Shane Waldren the Bears new offensive coordinator was the Seahawks offensive coordinator he's a guy who really likes a tight end by committee and it seems like he has brought that over to the Bears Cole KT only played an 11 out of 20 snaps um with the starters he ran routes on five of eight dropbacks that is really bad you know you have three stud wide receivers and he is an a time share at tight end I have zero interest in drafting Cole KT I cannot fathom a time where you would fire him up in your lineup and feel even borderline okay with it I probably wouldn't like playing him even if it wasn't a time share and now it is a time share like I am just so out on Cole KT I'm a Bears fan like I like the dude I think he's a solid player but for Fantasy I have zero interest um then my honorable mention is going to be Ben cinate I don't think he's someone that's going to be super playable early on but he had a huge play in the uh Commander first preseason game like a grank esque um like Yak play and he's someone I've been interested in round two pick really good athlete fairly open tight end room with Zack Herz there so I don't know if he's someone you need draft but just someone you should be monitoring if he starts you know up in his raw participation up in his usage someone to just keep an eye on to you know snag before your league make to catch on I definitely think he has some upside this year could be like the poor man Sam leapa from this season or from last year so that's going to wrap it up for my top 20 um plus Cole kit and then an honorable mention to Ben sinate but thank you all for stopping by let me know your thoughts check out the other rankings video and I will see you guys in the next one
