Emma feels she'd like fans to call her by her real name it would be so nice poor things Star Emma Stone has admitted that the time has come for people to start calling her by her real name again for those unaware the 35-year-old actor's birth name is actually Emily Jean Stone but when it was required for her to register her name professionally she had to change it because it was being used by another actor in the SAG AF Union at the time however in a recent Hollywood Reporter interview with the Oscar winner and her the curse co star Nathan Fielder he explained that he finds it hard to use Emma because he has always called her Emily plus that he knows how important it is to her for people to refer to her by the correct title before we continue I'd like to say something her name's Emily Nathan interjected explaining that she goes by Emma professionally he then noted that when he's around people who don't know her he ends up calling her Emma but from now on he's going to just say Emily while the L LA Landstar then responded to the interviewer with you can say Emma you can say anything she did add that when she gets to know people she works with she asked them to refer to her as Emily it comes after Emma freaked out a couple of years ago admitting that she suffered an identity crisis when it dawned on her that she only wanted to be known as Emily but because she had already carved a successful entertainment career under the name Emma Stone it didn't seem possible for some reason I was like I can't do it anymore just call me Emily she explained in the the interview adding that if people find the transition difficult she's happy for them to call her M Nathan calls me m which is easier she noted however the actor insisted that she does understand that people especially fans will still call her Emma especially because it's been her stage name for two decades but she didn't say that if a fan referred to her as Emily it would be so nice I would like to be Emily she concluded in terms of where the name Emma came from the Golden Globe winner has previously revealed that she was hugely inspired by her favorite Spice Girl Emma Bunton AKA Baby Spice when she was younger she told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show back in 2018 growing up I was super blonde and my real name is Emily but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and guess what now I am I am
