you want to live your life your way you want to be the main character in your story and you and I both know that takes some serious energy so I'm here to step in with a helping hand you see in my short life I've had more than enough experience of people trying to Halt my main character flow to make me into a supporting cast member or a comedy turn a part of someone else's backstory or just some throwaway line I've had to take care to develop the self-belief I need to be the hero in my own story and use it to turn my main character energy into a renewable resource like the sun for my International listeners or the wind and rain for those in the UK so first what is main character energy for me it's all about empowerment the power to know that your dreams aren't secondary to other people's expectations to see your goals as heroic no matter how small they may seem to anyone else the power to narrate your life in your own way to direct your own story and determine your own course with the pride and self-belief that comes with knowing that you are the hero that your story needs I understand though that it can be hard to narrate your own life when there are so many other voices trying to drown yours out to chart your own course when so many other people want to determine your direction or to meet your own expectations when other people want you to live within theirs so I've decided to share the lessons I've learned which helped me overcome the doubts and doubters the thoughts that give me the swell of inspiring main character music to get me through a low and a baseline for my mental Montage when I'm building towards my next goal I've called these lessons Commandments I know that is a strong word I am not really commanding you to do anything but 10 suggestions for living life fearlessly lacks a bit of a punch don't you think I'm certain significant character feelings 10 mild encouragements to be a little less afraid just wouldn't work so I chose Commandments because these are more than suggestions they are deeper than that they can be applied by all of us whenever we lead them and wherever we are because with them our lives and the lives of others will be improved if you want to understand how I'm using that idea of Commandments think about how you speak to your true friends when you need to give them honest advice you stop tiptoeing around with suggestions and speak in Commandments we say things like you have to apply for that promotion girl or you need to believe in yourself we move to Commandments because we are telling them something that they already know is true but they either need a push to act on it or a reminder to believe in themselves most often that thing is themselves and sometimes we all need to be commanded to believe in ourselves so I'm commanding you to believe in yourself in the same way that I believe in these Commandments I genuinely try to live by each and every one of these messages even when some are harder to stick to than others I see continuity and similarities between them even though some take love and others discipline some a thousand small changes and others one big step I believe they all share a transformative power which will make your life easier to enjoy and bring your dreams Within Reach some will at times be hard to live by though our challenges are as unique as we are and depending on your situation and your personality you will find some easier to take on board whilst others require you to stop and think don't worry though because that is a great thing stopping and thinking preferably in the rain with a cool backdrop and some epic tune is the key to retaining our main character energy and it's far better than living life on autopilot continuing forward without considering what you believe or truly want because the lessons you struggle with are the ones that make you grow you will learn from them and they will form the basis of your Commandments helping you win your battles as the hero of your own story
