foreign [Music] [Applause] new intro from the other week uh the convoluted long and a little bit forgetful classic Felix intro classic Felix uh now I'll save the people in impersonation how you going uh I'm pretty well what's what's been happening in the world of Andy what has been happening quite a bit Felix what was today no guess no guests just ask chatting yeah it's been a while since we've had the old uh I think we call them news episodes but uh it's a bit more targeted today there's certainly been some news um just overnight actually as of the time of recording some some major releases from uh Patek who've dropped uh Patrick yeah I guess is this their kind of big batch of releases for the year it feels like it um do they have some they had some of this sort of in Geneva there surely watching the Wonders I don't remember surely um and other things we've been doing other things we've I've been on the road a bit I've been seeing some things and we've both been getting our Tech on hmm smart watches I've been rocking the Apple watch Ultra for a couple weeks now you've been around the Google pixel uh before we talk smart watches you traveled yeah I've got a flight I did I got on a plane it was very exciting I didn't get the window seat um I went up to Sydney thanks to Grand Seiko and attended a Gala event it was the it was very uh the framing of it was very ambiguous it's a Gala it's just a regular dinner we're just having it along at the opera house no reason no biggie uh and then uh as the evening progressed it emerged so there was in fact a special watch being released the first ever Australian limited edition for Grand Sago first ever that's a big deal yeah they've been doing it they've been sort of uh moving into the regional model more and more there's obviously the very popular us seasonal range but this one is the uh let's give its formal name sbgj269 aka the pink flannel flower it's uh you're sort of your Classic Heritage Elegance I think is a collection uh case GMT with a very uh otsk I like to think pink dial yeah we've started that Trend didn't we yeah yeah we definitely started it um 50 pieces 10 600 inspired by a sort of a very rare flower who lives in Australia the pink flannel flower obviously and I suspect based on the throngs around both the sales associates and the watch that they would have been mostly gone on the night yeah I mean 50 is not many 10K price points pretty reasonable for what you're getting flat so this flower only grows after a Bushfire is that correct I think it's a one-two combo of Bushfire and then torrential rain uh classic Peak Australia yeah um Pig January in Australia yeah it's really uh heard a little bit about the process um and I think it's been in the works since before covert well so uh uh really really nice sort of thing they've obviously gone to a lot of effort to uh to put to make it sort of feel authentic and I think the Australian design team has been involved yeah it looks beautiful yeah and they had on the night there's a sketch that the the Japanese sort of watch designer who's very young like I think he was if he was 20 I'd be surprised oh wow um the design and they're auctioning that offer for charity later on you know down the track but yeah really nice really great to sort of see Grand Seiko finding a you know ever increasing and more mature place in the market they're sort of doing incredible things so it was uh it was a good night but it wasn't the only colorful dial I've seen recently Andy there's another one what else have you seen went and had a little little visit with tesso saw some of their novelties it's a new PRX a blue dial that's eerily familiar what uh what sort of blue would you gonna how would you describe the shade of blue we're talking about legal reasons I can't describe it uh in its most familiar phrase but it's a dial that's been popping up um on other watches you know sort of uh the the Nautilus had a sort of a take on it uh uh Rolex has a popular version thereof um it's very blue let's just say that turquoise turquoise Smith and iblo but this it says PRX it's quartz it's not you know you can actually get it it's kind of incredible it's also um I will say I'll put some pictures up on you know social media and stuff it's got a kind of like a brushed metallic finish so it's not the same sort of flat matte that we've seen in other executions the other main thing to know about this watch 550 dollars bang like bargain ah they're a great watch they're a great one this is good on the wrist I uh I'm a big fan of the PRX 500 550 bucks it's just it's tempting you're gonna be hard to get well see this was the conversation I was having with the two sub people they had sort of from their sort of you know informal Market testing uh 50 50 loved it 50 50 really thought it was sort of you know attacking over the top I fall very much into the I love it Camp because and my rationale is I understand it's a bit sort of played out but 550 bucks it's fun we're heading into summer here you don't have to think too much about it it's not pretend like I don't think you have to get too caught up on this branded at first or They're copying it it's a it's a color that exists in culture and everyone loves it you know it's having a moment in what's sure but also no one well owns the color blue no that's a huge amount of fun to be had as well I think just in terms of the design and the color and great watches and they they're well made so it's 550 well spent I gotta say you don't feel like you're getting something cheap you get some you get something that you feel is is well made and it's quality I put it on the wrist for a bit nothing tinny about the bracelet like it felt nice now if it is a nice it isn't I you know I'd be tempted to get one for for a bit of summer fun that's good that you said that because I also suggested to them that they put another zero on their order figure and I may have inferred that if they didn't sell them OT would look after them and you know just take take a couple dozen age what's been going on in your world any drama in your llama talked about uh talking about talked about it a little while ago but I got a Apple watch Ultra when it first came out held off talking about it until we had time and Felix we've got time so Apple watch Ultra 12.99 Aussie expensive it's up there in price but this is the new Big Big Boy from Apple it is 49 millimeter titanium case instead of the I think aluminum that it usually comes in yellow steel this is the first titanium first titanium so lightweight but but quite big the price points obviously quite serious but it's got 100 meter water resistance which is interesting because the previous Apple watch used to kind of have to unscrew the crown and give it a shake this one is just sealed up really kind of designed for what Apple say Adventure getting Outdoors they put a whole bunch of features in there around like wayfinding and map features uh Sirens all sorts of kind of goody five characters yeah also it's a good Tech it's sort of interesting because I do have you know but the last couple of Apple watches as well so it's sort of an interesting um change for me because I don't do any of those things so those features are not really necessarily at all I was going to ask you um specifically what you thought of it in relationship to the regular Apple watch so I find that because of the size it like it wears fine but it wears bigger and the screen is you know I think it screen's bigger than my first probably two or three mobile phone screens so it is quite weird to look down at your wrist and see you know this computer that is not insignificant in size it's not bulky I haven't really hit it on anything it's not you know it's not like I knock it into things it's just I would normally wear a watch and an Apple Watch on my right wrist I I did that for a little while I can't do it it's just it's just too too much presence for me um so it became a choice between the Apple watch Ultra or my regular watch and that's that's the first time oh regular watch yeah because of the because I don't need those features so you know what I liked about the Apple watch was it you know it was quite slim it is quite small it's quite discreet but it does have you know a connectivity that I that I mostly like in the fitness stuff but I don't use the rest of it so this feels like a watch that I'll put on for an activity and probably not something I'd wear all the time which is a big difference because it's it's you know I've long said that Apple watches aren't really competitive to a mechanical watch right in terms of wearing like picking something it's a competitor to the the watch I'm gonna wear uh also the price point like it is not it is not a cheap watch especially when you start buying a few straps which are great you know you're a big fan of the the Apple watch straps they're awesome I mean the whole bunch of new features on you know sizing them up changing the the um the strap keeps the different kind of textiles all fantastic like this is if I was like a really outdoorsy guy who went out doing stuff it's it's pretty perfect yeah honestly uh that Alpine strap if we can get that for like a scene or something like you know what I mean like I want to watch analog for like a mechanical watch analog of some of those apple straps yeah I mean it's it's great the interchangeability sizing them the the Comfort I mean even the price like they are very well price for what you get so it's sort of the biggest takeaway I think is just that decision that I have now because it I used to wear both and now I uh now I don't which I find interesting so I gotta say I think I prefer the regular the regular one interesting yeah interesting have you got the uh the regular one still set up or have you moved to this one for for your sort of review period now I move for this one for the review period so the question remains when I move back would I get another one when they they upgrade comes has this broken the Apple watch cycle for me by simply using it and it being too inconvenient to go back to a regular one maybe yeah I I guess from their point of view like they're looking at like they're not trying to sort of take away they're not going after the Submariner crowd they're going after a people that have apple watches and are going to iterate on and every time will be people that have sort of specific Sports watching these like you know they're going after Garmin and oh I mean in term this is the comparison right this is the first comparison I made was this is EA compared to you know those high-end Garmin and whatever other you know or whatever it is yeah because those things are ugly like those watches are just ugly they're hideous they're practical very practical no no they're just they're practical but they are just just hideous looking yeah and the Apple this is a beautiful looking watch and it's more functional and uh yeah it's gorgeous but it's not I don't know if it's going after the Apple watch maybe it's an upsell on people that use the Apple watch but yeah it's definitely not I think compare it to a subby yeah interesting um closing thoughts on the Apple watch give me like a one-line pithy thing that we can use for the show notes for like you know I hate it but I don't rate it or something something like that give me some give me like a you got nothing um just go try it on honestly I think you need to wear it in person because don't let this don't let the the specs um the spec sheet where you yeah 100 always a case with Watchers um do you mind if I talk about marmotch I agree you've been going intelligent much as well yeah the timing worked out really well so uh uh Google has obviously been involved in smart watches for a long time sort of indirectly through their sort of the Ware OS which is the alternative to Apple um but if not until now had their own you know sort of let's use the language of watch brands vertically integrated manufacture uh Smartwatch again it's been rumored for a long time like this scene has been like I don't know compared to apple Google is the leakiest ship out there like we've known what this watch looks like for like two years or something um but it's now been released a quick email to Google's PR in Australia resulted in me literally having one the next day which was kind of kind of wild um I've got to say this is the most impressed I've been in about a smartwatch since the original Apple watch really yeah because I mean I've obviously you know a couple of years ago I moved over to Android and testing Apple watches the whole paint because it means I've got to move my phone over it's and it generally doesn't happen so that's why I'm not also rocking an altar at the moment no shade to the product I just you know it's not worth it for me to flip phones and all that around the evening of my life it's painful yeah this however the immediate response of like taking it out of the packaging feels as good as an Apple Watch like it's it's round 41 millimeters it's got a single ground it feels like a pebble it's glossy it's smooth it's it's really beautiful to hold in the hand and it's got that sort of uh very sort of Apple sport band inspired strap that comes with it it's you know that elastomer and it's it's incredible so the Apple sport band has like a one Loop this one for legal reasons I suspect has two but otherwise it's um yeah it's really really Sleek it's 12.3 mil tall weighs 36 grams without a strap um I tried it the other night like wearing this line 36 grams it's it's made of steel as well um 80 recycled stainless I tried wearing it uh to sleep okay got the sleep tracking in never normally do yep and I managed it it didn't bother me at all like it's it's there's because there's no edges or you know irritating elements on there and it's sort of all really smooth and lightweight it's it's totally doable I don't think I'll do it regularly but um yeah that's that the form factor I can't you know speak highly of it and it looks a lot more like a regular watch like I showed you that um uh like a screenshot of it with that sort of military sub-dial layout that it you know comes stock with or you know face options and I just think it looks more intuitive because it's a round case rather than a square case I haven't haven't sort of had to squeeze it around the edges a bit uh what else about it um 24-hour battery which holds up like I think Apple's sort of say 18 to 24. uh 36 on the ultra what I mean it's over day in the heart day and a half I found with the Apple watch in general depending on depending on how you kind of notifications are set up but is it a long time wearer if you kind of get away with forgetting to charge it for about a day and a half yeah okay so this one yeah I've probably about the same like um but I was sort of been fiddling with a bit more but uh you know I'm dead like 30 20 30 by the end of the day okay which is fine I think you know it becomes habit um yeah the smart watches like it's you plug your phone in when you go to bed you plug your watch in it's just it's habit other good things about it um for me because I've got a pixel phone it's it's the most seamless integration with a watch and a smart watch rather and a phone that I've ever had like aside from Apple you know uh because it's always sort of been a bit of jankiness with you know your sort of tech eye connected or your Montblanc Summit or you know whatever other sort of Smartwatch you're using there's that it's not as seamless a process as this is sure obviously Google owns Fitbit uh which is a you know big draw card for a lot of people uh you can also use Google fit as well and there's an interesting thing about this there's they have to have the two competing products because like you can also buy like Fitbit watches from Google and the Google pixel they can't sort of fold it all in together because there's specific rules about the Fitbit data they have to keep servers in separate locations so they can't just go okay we're rebranding Fitbit into Google Fit Plus like they're sort of um that might happen in the future but at the moment I read an article about how it's sort of weird double system like I initially started with Fitbit and then I moved it back over to you know sort of uh Google Fit for the tracking because there's uh a the Google uh Fitbit has a subscription service and B it's a you know different sort of system it's got your heart rate monitor you know really nice range of straps as well I'm sure I'll probably you know if I keep this for a while I'll get some more straps to play around with but yeah price is good too so the base model 549 bucks 649 with 4G connectivity which I think is only available in Australia on Telstra at the moment but I really read it solid solid that you've been wearing it a lot pretty much the only thing I've been wearing no so no mechanical watch nope not for the last week I mean partially just because I'm sort of experimenting with it and getting a problem giving it the attention it deserves yeah but I I mean I can think this one will probably stay you know smart watches I sort of tend to go like oh this is great for a while and then phase off but because I don't have to work with this like it already like syncs seamlessly with all my phone services so you get the 4G version I think I got yeah the 4J but I can't because I'm uh Optics I don't think I can use the the oh right right interesting yeah you're gonna double wrist I haven't how do you feel about the the idea the notion um I don't really see the point okay fair enough like you know what I'd do it totally like what tracking steps or something and if that was the case anyway you know what I mean well you know one thing you can't do on the pixel watch Felix what is that change the strap to an atom strap oh she's in a massive shame because Adam straps having from uh Australia here where we uh also hell are just fantastic and it's a it's a shame maybe one day that little pixel watch strap but just now Felix we just got to enjoy their loopless straps their great NATO straps their broad range of accessories from Andy adamstraps.com Felix you know you take a look at their Instagram Adam dot straps you can see a great range of pictures you know wearers and connoisseurs of Adam straps post shops shots almost every day in fact it's uh every few hours I see an Instagram story go up just has inspiration I see there's inspiration you know how we were talking about the um how I would like a sort of mechanical watch analog of certain large Cupertino based tech companies fans do you think artem is big enough to risk a lawsuit probably not probably not but one day with the support of everyone listening maybe I'll create the smell pie in this map adamstraps.com Felix do you know what could do with a uh a strap change uh what some of these new pateks that were released just overnight that's a that's a ball I mean of all the things to sort of Come Out Swinging yeah well look I got a model in particular that I need to fire some shots at okay that's the uh the ladies aquinole loose rainbow chronograph okay talk to me what's your what's your drama so this has a I think it's a mother of pearl dial that has that um world time sort of engraving on it yeah I'm not a normal human I don't understand Equinox loose rainbow give me reference numbers baby what are we talking well so you need the reference number the 7968-300r so rose gold uh gem set bezel Rainbow Gem set which I think everyone's everyone's sort of seen and a rubber strap and for the uh for the aqua North so they've shown it on a nude strap I'm going to call it a bright red and a white strap I don't know that it works on any of these straps I think it needs to be something dark to really just tone it down maybe black I'd rock it on the nerd you rocket move you'd go nude I'd wear this I'd wear this dude too that's what else you need all the attention will be on the wrist uh nowhere else interesting that they still refer to it as a ladies watch we are in 2022 Patek uh but you know look I mean Patek is hardly uh the most Progressive company when it of all the Swiss watch companies when it comes to um these things they're just trolling us they're doing a rainbow gem set bezel and you know like it's two rows of baguettes um so there's inner which I think is just straight up diamond and then the outer is um rainbow which I think yeah yeah which gets a bit of um it's clever design because it makes it feel less cramped like I think yeah solid baguettes it would feel a bit sort of closed in but this is it feels quite it looks quite a lot yeah it looks it looks like it looks expensive and obviously going to be going to be hard to get uh pretty controversial release people are not apparently not loving it the internet has sort of I would have thought would gobble up a a rainbow bezel you know precious metal Patek but the internet is is not happy you have your finger on the internet much more than I do well I like to read the comments uh derivative derivative design you know okay big deal uh basically big deal men's watch hey do you reckon the salty that it just wasn't like a man I think everyone's salty that's a uh it's not a men's watch for sure yeah but I think they're salty at the releases and obviously there's one in particular that I think everyone's quite salty hat and that is uh moving on that is the 5811-1g which G is indicative of gold it is a white gold Nautilus Felix it's it's almost steel it looks like steel uh without kind of holding it or having a Discerning Eye like I think most watch collectors have you would probably just mistake it for steel so blue dial near identical to the 5711 which was you know discontinued obviously the the movement's different I think the case is slightly bigger and thicker and it has a slightly adjustable clasp which is good because the clasp on a regular Nautilus is horrendous sure people are pretty uh pretty upset that you know Patek went I think two years ago now saying it was done 5711's over I think I'm probably on the record talking to you about it being quite skeptical that you know the 5711 might be done but uh maybe even there's still Nautilus but there's no way the Nautilus is that he's done so do people I mean my take on that is are people really that credulous yes that they're going to like the protect's going to be a special make something special and amazing just for them and you know do exactly what you know what I mean like it was it was Peak um sorry to cut you off peak 5711 Mania where you know they're going for quarter million US dollars for hundred thousand US Dollars and it was almost like it was this reaction of you know what um which this is causing us too many headaches more problems than it's worth it's a 30 000 us steel watch that we you know I'm sure they make 25 000 on it but it's too much hassle we're just gonna get rid of it it's genius marketing oh for sure and then it did it sort of it did a Victory lap with the green dial for a year and then another one with the Tiffany blue dial uh so if anything I think they're probably hyped it even more so and then they come out with a precious metal that I think retails for just over double what the Steel's going for so it's about 70 000 maybe you get some change from that uh US Dollars next year or whatever it is we'll get a steel version eventually maybe or maybe they're just like well it costs us five grand more in material than we can sell it for uh forty thousand dollars more so um we're gonna do it and you've already shown that you'll pay 300 000 for a still version so why wouldn't you do that for white gold so it was I think it's going to be steel because fundamentally it was created as a steel watch firstly maybe maybe I mean my thing about it is like from a marketing point of view most brands would just go okay we're discontinuing the 5711 uh we're replacing with the 5811 it's got a new class but a new movement they've got 24 months of dominating a new cycle out of it for nothing like it hasn't cost them anything no no no no and it's it's but it's playing into the hype which I think is what has upset people is I think they're kind of this is it right they say it for what it is now and I'm uh I'm happy to say this I think this is increasingly uh the the pumping they're pumping the brand up in I would say preparation for a sale exactly exactly and I mean you know to be fair some people speculated and oh this is it I better get one I'll pay where to reduce because they're not making these anymore and people are probably thinking the same thing as you as well feel like oh it's going to come out and steal next year and it's an it's it's different because of these five you know dot points in the press release but fundamentally aesthetically it looks it looks very similar so talk like a duck yeah and those people are going to be left uh holding the bag the proverbial a bag uh what else came out to pick your interest Felix I see a world timer this one so this is uh the 59.35 a which is uh uh the let me scroll up World type flyback Chrono uh first time it's been released in steel this is one there was a sort of hot emerald green model that got a lot of attention earlier this year I think uh I basically like this it's an interesting proposition uh in terms of Aesthetics it's a very sort of vintagey feel well in some ways it's got like you know nubuck and calf straps and it's got a really interesting I'd say it's a copper or salmon dial they're calling it you know rose gold rose guilt opaline motif uh I just think it's nice I think this is what you know Patek does well I mean it's not a sort of refined as what they did in the 50s maybe but you know it's a it's a solid watch yes but on it's what and then to me it feels like this is more of the focus complications movements finishing yeah you know dial techniques all that sort of stuff and and experimenting with those things and you know maybe that's the that's that seems to be the focus of of these releases I mean there's a bunch of other kind of complicated watches and it all just sort of sits around um you know focuses on the movements and it seems like a bit busy updating a lot of movements across the range Nautilus is still very much present um and I mean yeah I mean we talked about the ladies at equinox there's a ladies Nautilus the 7118 1300 R I'm gonna say go out on a limb let's say this is my favorite Nautilus I've seen in a long time how do you pronounce the name jewelery yeah jewelry why don't you describe it I feel like you do a good good job sir this is a better supportive DNA it is a zoology version we sit with 79 2.38 carats of special ads this bezel is set with baguette special right color pattern ranging from sharper to cognac how was that I'm sorry Switzerland stunning so this is a 35.6 millimeter case with a an orangey a red and orange bezel rose gold it's got the wavy dial which has been reserved for the ladies watches better at that size Felix I'd play with this I'd wear this what I really like about it is if you look at some of the close-up shots of the dial like the bezel's cool that that you know sort of tone on tone color gradients really slick um I like how they've matched the hat like you look at those hands and you go oh there are stones in the hands color matched the the print or the loom whatever it is yeah and the stone setting on the baguettes looks really really nice I just think it's it's a little bit unusual it's classy it's nice it is yeah I I would wear this watch I think it would look good I don't think it's it would look too small um yeah that'd be a statement statement for sure probably already bought two yeah one for each one for each wrist is there anything else popping out from Patek I guess probably the 5712 slash 1R which is an orderless with the moon faces chocolatey boy rose rose gold case what's new on this one Felix I don't know mate there's a few other new ones there's like another travel time and there's some other bits and Bobs and some you know more classical I don't know Chrono Perpetual calendars of a destiny movement about the the destroy one yes is that is this the state of watches we now we're now just destroy everything I mean yeah I mean it does feel a bit gimmicky but it looks contemporary it's a uh the 5373p uh mono push Chrono per cow uh for lefties uh it doesn't make sense does it make sense having it on the left let's beat Crown I always say that with you know left left-handed Styles work for watches that have large grounds like the big pilot or something because it sort of gets off your wrist even if you're wearing it on the left uh Platinum I mean this is yeah this is made for a few few high-end consumers that can afford and get it it'll pop off yeah the doll looks nice it's very sporty it's very sporty yeah yeah they've done been doing some of that weird aesthetic stuff recently um that's particular these are watches that we can't afford I you know we'll never get um they're kind of cool and on the topic of things that we cannot definitely cannot afford and that are potentially kind of cool Audemars be gay Felix five new colors of the Royal Oak to celebrate was the 50th Anniversary you you do some talking and I'm going to find out hang on here we go one two three four five six seven eight nine ten looks like ten new references 10 new references all colors five colors five colors was that 800 baguettes on each of them something silly yeah which is which I mean for those of you listening at home think of a Royal Oak you know it you love it now cover it in a single color of very nice Stones ranging from purple to Blue to Yellow to Green to Pink maybe and wherever you can uh conceivably put them put those baguettes you've got 800 to spend here yeah baby blue green yellow orange whatever dark purpley blue it's the most impressive thing for me about this um is the color the stone setting and the color grading that must have been a phenomenal amount of work I yeah I mean setting these would not be um would not be an easy task I don't even know if pricing's around because I don't think it matters what's the point Andy quite frankly I imagine it's probably a million dollars plus sure I wouldn't be surprised if it was even you know mid mid ones but weird weird way to sort of celebrate um oh yeah continue it on continue that video all of them at once like and it's it's to make a splash a colorful Splash but it's just so far from what the uh what the Royal Oak was 50 years ago and sort of has been to a lot of people it feels quite confused as well I mean just last month they announced that competition where you know you could draw your watch and it would be made or something and that just felt very you know Automotive maker from 1980s but for all of us it just felt oh I think question about this is what would people say about this watch if Hublot mode it would be better as a Hublot that's what people are saying again kids on the internet really by cute adults yeah they're like a Hublot do a better job the worm has turned it has um yeah it's just an odd odd odd thing to do and I mean again is this something that a deeply skeptical feelings goes has IP realized they've got a massive credit with the gemologists that they need to write off before you know if I was Mark Wahlberg I would get one of every color I'm sure LeBron James will get it one of every color it would be cool to have but it is just about the flexis set of watches I've seen in the most time and you're right someone like chopard will do it with this really well actually yeah where it's about or like graph or something like that yeah I know I mean the dial is is you know arguably very cool but it's just so I don't know it's just so strange and you know it's at a time when uh the CEO is sort of on the way out and you know there's this opportunity for someone you to come in and you know take the brand to that the next level that it needs to go and I'm just confused by this I would have thought you know I could have thought it was a joke when uh when I first saw all the pictures but no it is it's legitimate it's just I mean as AP himself say it's flamboyant must be a massive profit margin the enormous I think it'd be incomprehensible and that's it because you're absolutely right I hadn't even thought about that like the number of people on the that will be buying five of these ah easy easy it's for the it's it's those top T it's probably going to be sold as a set almost yeah that's all like that you're not going to just buy one you've got to transact on however many yeah you'll go casually spend five million or something and get them all but I don't know seems like an old way to celebrate I don't know I'll mate uh Gerald agent is probably turning in his grave at the thought of his his beautiful design being ridiculous watches um this this who knew that we would be far more appreciative of the products of Apple and Google then Patek Philippine Auto miles per guy this it's not fair I did like some of the texts yeah yeah I think the physics I I look I don't have an issue with any of the pateks um at all yeah they're all it's it's Patrick being Patrick and you know not particularly exciting in some ways but yeah yeah I mean Watchers have not been uh all that exciting this whole year I feel like what else are we going to talk about is that it uh oh there was one I mean yeah I mean that's it I mean we were talking about this actually and this is uh something that sort of I think has pervaded our discussions um recently uh about this is what happens like we're sort of we're seeing the consequences of Watchers becoming more mainstream oh you're talking about of course the hodinki article Tony Trader wrote up an interview I think it was four plus one with Jeremy Kirkland uh who came on OT last year yeah think that was a really good example so uh Jeremy Kirkland and HOSA player he did a little little story for her dinky which is you know was I'm sure he was a nice little puff piece essentially about someone's watch collection um and they LED with sort of a quote about you know oh you know my wife was in gonna and we're gonna have our kids you were going to the hospital I said oh I've got to go back and get my watch you know yeah in the driveway he jumped out the car ran inside probably took him I don't know a minute at most you know I wanted to be wearing his Rolex Pepsi when his child was born which is you know that's it's a sort of nerdy watch node thing that people do um and he got hammered for yeah really bad apparently got a lot of messages well a lot of hate hate mail on the internet which is quite sad because I mean Jeremy's a great guy I'll link up the episode with him but he is just an absolutely absolutely lovely fella uh has his own podcast obviously blamo um which is which is massive it's his full-time thing yeah the last person that deserves I think to cop it like this you know I I guess you know you sort of think about this no one deserves it no or you know everyone from you know DJ Khaled to I don't know I can Paul Pluto is a nice person in their own lives but yeah they're human beings hi Jeremy um but the thing I find interesting about it is I you it's just it's it's it's the tabloidification of it like it's a Daily Mail headline yeah not that I think he was trying to you know sort of roast him but they took a really Punchy quote and put it with a picture of him you know with a sweater over his shoulders and it made it imminently hateable but you don't know like his wife might have been having a c-section where you knew exactly what minute like it's it's not like you know it was a stopping the ambulance situation yeah I mean I would have thought if you're jumping in the car you have a bit of time and there's actually I think there's a there's enough factors and stuff you don't know to go oh okay well he's a pretty level-headed guy he's vavo he's already got a kid he probably didn't um put anything at risk or Jeopardy by running inside you've got that extra with that extra time but I just yeah you're right this is what happens when it goes mainstream I mean you know we're at a point where I'm in a one of my Facebook one of the Facebook groups I mean Adrian Barker's uh was it talking watches and drinking coffee yep yeah and someone put off a watch post I don't know it was 20 30 000 watch and someone commented they were in that group and they said ah as if you'd spend 300 bucks on a watch let alone twenty thousand I thought you're in a watch group was it was it a troll no it was it was just someone who was in there and I guess 300 on a watch was too much for them great watch fine you can get some stuff but just to not even understand beyond that so I think it's just mainstreaming yeah I mean holding he is enormous uh yeah I think it was like seven eight hundred comments on there I I just you're right this is what happens when the internet um opens up and unfortunately the way with the Internet is you know everyone will say uh same mean things and very rarely do people you know jump in with with positivity so here we are felix awesome let's keep it awesome um thank you for your wholesome Miss Andy always appreciated uh what do we need to do we don't need to do anything else we don't need to thank our guests we don't have any guests thank you Patek Philippe and Audemars piguet for uh releasing some monsters thank you Apple and Google for making technology that we could wear on our wrists thank you to Autumn straps for supporting the show as ever Andy where can people you know send us messages of support and joy and hate Mount yeah otthepodcast gmail.com or you can hit us up on Instagram ot.podcast of course leave your review your reviews and your um hate mail in the form of five star reviews I've got I've actually got a specific request because I just did this the other day yep review us on Spotify yeah hit us hit us up Spotify do it thank you guys all right we'll see you next time ciao Bellas foreign [Music]
