CB 24's Courtney heels joins us with more as we prepare to brace for a blast of winter in the first week of Spring Court yeah this is something people need to be aware of and it is the timing of this system uh that could make for a bit of a tricky commute for many people on their way home maybe people hitting the road to go away for the weekend uh bill has been talking about how it's likely going to roll in during that commute for many many people and what's happening right now it is calm but the city getting ready what we're hearing through the city of Toronto know they have their snow plows on standby once the snow hits the ground they'll have those plow out plows out they'll be focusing on the main roads uh for example the expressways uh the major roads then moving to the residential streets we can also tell you the city putting out on social media warning people it is going to be busy in the city and because of the snow as well things will likely be moving a little bit slower take for example they're saying traffic alert too with the snow there's Raptors Maple Leafs Toronto FC home games lak Shore Boulevard East restrictions and go transit bus replacement this weekend traffic may not be ideal in the city give yourself lots of time and plan ahead when heading out over the next few days that is always good advice when you have a system like this rolling through so we are preparing for this system in the meantime though we're also dealing with some lower temperatures and the warming centers were open overnight for people who are vulnerable uh we can tell you the warming centers will stay open as long as the temperature is below minus5 so four different locations available there and Pearson Airport we've been in touch with Pearson to see how things are going at this hour they say no issues this morning but they also have Crews on standby those Crews will be out clearing all of the taxiways the runways uh they are also warning if we do get hit with this snow and it rolls in pretty quickly there is the possibility of some cancellations and delays so the advice there as always just check on the status of your flight so this morning guys it is pretty calm that is good news the trip into work in school shouldn't be an issue but it will be on the way home that you'll just need to plan for and be prepared it could take a little extra time over that old cliche the Cal before the storm ringing true this morning for sure okay Courtney thanks for the update
