because the day we was out there was a fall day that was really Bleak and rainy the fall leaves were everywhere and the sky was dark it was raining and thundering out and the whole experience was just like something out of a horror movie it's a beautiful piece of property during the day that is if you don't know the whole story but if you know it's not exactly like you canu and know it the initial individual to suspect that something sinister was a foot was a private investigator named virtual Vander he was in fact the first to begin connecting the dots in a way that actually made sense nevertheless even though he and the supporters he later gathered from various law enforcement agencies and neighboring counties who joined the hunt for a murderer were not ready to confront the reality of encountering a monster their path concluded in the forested backyard of a vast private estate where the remains of the reported missing individuals along with others were uncovered this discovery soon caught the attention of the media following this camera crew arrived on the scene the murders quickly became front page news yet who can truly critic criticize the media frenzy that ensued unlike the typical sensationalism characterized by Bloodshed and outrage that often accompanies murder cases this situation presented something deeper as the excavation began on the property known as Fox Hollow Farm the land was revealing more than just bones when it was all said and done the sheer magnitude of the horror that happened there would be mind bindingly shocking B Meister was an individual whose outward appearance was so unremarkable that the revelation of his more complex inner psyche left those familiar with him feeling uneasy he was a devoted family man and a businessman who actively contributed to local charitable organizations on the surface he appeared typical and engaged in ordinary conversation but a deeper acquaintance revealed a different reality he embodied many traits commonly associated with serial killers including the capacity to maintain control over his illicit activities while presenting an air of everyday normaly as a proprietor of local business that attracted numerous residents he certainly did not fit the profile of someone one would suspect of harboring sexual Psychopathic Tendencies Herbert Richard balister was born on April 7th 1947 to Dr Herbert and Elizabeth balister in the butler Tarkington neighborhood of Indiana which is known for its picturesque Courier and I've style scenery in 1948 a sister named Barbara joined the family followed by Two Brothers rad in 1954 and Richard in 1956 as Dr Bal meister's Medical Practice flourished the family moved to the more affluent Washington Township area Herbert's upbringing appeared to be typical at first glance however as he transitioned into his teenage years it became increasingly clear that something was a mess a close friend from school Bill Donovan reminisced about how Herbert would often drift into peculiar Daydreams frequently contemplating unsettling topics such as the taste of human urine and engaging in bizarre behaviors on one particular morning while heading to school Herbert found a dead crow that had been struck by a vehicle and decided to place it in his pocket later when the teacher was distracted he nonchalantly dropped the deceased bird onto her desk his irresponsible actions and erratic conduct soon drew the attention of his father who subsequently arranged for mental health evaluations for his son a comprehensive series of evaluations ultimately led to the diagnosis of the boy as having schizophrenia characterized by a dual or multiple personality Foundation however there is no documentation indicating any subsequent treatment this situation arose because North Central High School prioritized sports activities the studious and somewhat socially awkward individual struggled to integrate into the popular crowd despite his attempts to fit in with his peers he found it difficult to connect and ultimately retreated into Solitude spending countless hours alone regarding his romantic Pursuit his friend Don noted that there were no instances of him dating in fact I never witnessed him engage in any dating activities during his time in college he continued to feel aimless he left school after his first year but returned sporadically for a semester here and there over the next four years ultimately failing to earn a degree however due to his father's determination his father was a well-respected figure in the community he secured a position as a copy boy at the Indianapolis Star the city major newspaper Gary Donna an advertising executive who was employed by the paper recalls that herb was particularly sensitive about how he was perceived and treated by those in higher positions he had an intense desire to establish himself and make a name for himself he was well-dressed and enthusiastic yet still felt out of place an unusual event took place when herb volunteered to drive Donna and his friend to the Indiana University football game hoping to integrate himself into their group on the day of the game he arrived in a hearse likely obtained through connections from the hospital where his father worked with lights flashing he sped towards the game laughing all the way as Donna recalls people began pulling over to the side of the road he even wore a chauffeur's cap which he found amusing however Donna along with her friends and their dates were left wondering about the Ecentric individual behind the wheel the strangeness didn't stop there it wasn't long after he began his employment at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles a position that his father is rumored to have helped him secure that he started exhibiting erratic Behavior towards his colleagues for no apparent reason his time there was characterized by peculiar actions as noted by former co-workers and others one Christmas he attracted attention by sending out a card featuring a photo of himself alongside another man dressed in drag despite experiencing interpersonal conflicts within the workplace and a tumultuous deployment the bureau still recognized an evident go-getter attitude combined with a notable level of intelligence it wasn't long after Herbert assumed the role of program director While others might have embraced the challenge with professionalism Herbert's Antics only intensified and thrived those familiar with him described his humor as peculiar during his time at the BMV this manifested in an incident where he urinated on his boss's desk making it widely known in the office who was responsible remarkably Herbert managed to evade termination until he urinated on a letter that was addressed to the governor of Indiana you seriously can't make this stuff up can you imagine having to work with this freaking weirdo in November of 1971 herb bed wed Duty seder at the United Methodist church asked to leave his position at the BMV to help supplement their family's income she took on a variety of odd jobs eventually he found employment at a thrift shop although he initially perceived this job as menial he soon recognized the opportunities that such a place could offer after discussing it with Julie and drawing upon the knowledge he had gained about managing such an establishment during his three years there they decided to invest their savings into starting their own store they borrowed $4,000 from Herb's mother who was now widowed and in 1988 they open Save A Lot Thrift in partnership with a well-regarded Children's Bureau in Indianapolis a century old charity aimed at supporting local families the store situated on 46 Street specialized in selling pre-owned clothing household items and various secondhand Goods the inventory was technically owned by a charitable organization which received a contracted percentage of the sales revenue customers found the Save A Lot him to be identified through fingerprint analysis in another case 21-year-old James Boyd Robbins Jr vanished on October 15th 1987 around 10 p.m. shortly after departing from his mother's residence in Indianapolis and heading towards the southern part of the city his lifeless body was located 2 days later on October 17th in a ditch in rural Shelby County near Interstate 70 South of gwynneville his remains were found unclothed and also exhibited signs of strangulation during the investig ation into his murder law enforcement officials discovered two witnesses Who provided contradictory statements one witness asserted that they had observed a red Jeep Wrangler Renegade in proximity to the crime scene while another witness insisted that the vehicle in question was a Chevrolet Blazer the remains of 26-year-old Steven Linn Elliot were discovered on August 12th 1989 in a rural area of Preble County Ohio close to Interstate 70 he was found wearing only his underwear and had been strangled likely with a rope Elliot's father informed the authorities that after his son publicly came out as gay in 1979 he left the family home and became involved in prostitution which led to an alcohol dependency clay Russell Boatman a 32-year-old licensed practical nurse went missing on August 14th 1990 he left his apartment in Richmond Indiana to visit our place a local gay bar his body reported having seen Becker traveling in a vehicle with another male driver heading Northbound on Interstate 70 near Indianapolis these Witnesses were subsequently brought to the police station where they were presented with photographs of various individuals who had been convicted of kidnapping and murder within the state however none of the suspects matched the description of the purported kidnapper these were just a few of the many strange and disturbing cases of missing young men that all seemed to center around the strange and disturbing herb bow Meister as previously stated in May fragments belonging to at least 11 individuals that had been interred in the wooded area of Fox Hollow a subsequent search conducted on December 4th 2022 resulted in the discovery of one additional bone and the identification of 20 more potential sites where further remains may be buried underground since the initial findings only eight victims have been positively identified the remaining three sets of remains have yet to be matched with identities although they are all presumed to be male and believed to have fallen victim to homicide the Hamilton County coroner's office has made a public appeal urging anyone who has missing family members from the mid 1980s to mid1 1990s in the Indianapolis region to participate in DNA testing this initiative aims to assist in the identification of the victim's remains as of January 2024 forensic Specialists are actively engaged in efforts to identify nearly 10,000 human remains that were recovered from Fox Hol Farm here's some other victims that could possibly or more probable that are associated with herb bow Meister John Lee Johnny Bayer 20 went missing on May 28th 1993 Jeffrey Allen Jeff Jones 31 went missing on July 6th 1993 Richard Douglas Hamilton Jr 20 went missing on July 31st 1993 Alan Lee Livingston 27 also went missing on August 6th 1993 his remains were recovered in the initial search of the farm in 1996 but remained unidentified until October 2023 Steven sperlin halil 28 went missing on April 1st 1994 Alan Wayne brousard 28 went missing on June 6th 1994 Roger Alan goodlet 33 went missing on July 22nd 1994 Michael Frederick Mike kiern 45 last scene on March 31st 1995 Manuel rendes 34 last seen at a gay bar in downtown Indianapolis on August 6th 1993 in January 2024 Hamilton County coroner announced the identification of remains that were recovered in 1996 from Fox Hollow Farm human remains recovered from the property matched a family reference sample that was submitted in early 2023 and this led to the identification authorities have publicly and posthumously Associated the unresolved case of Jerry Williams comr who was 34 years old at the time of his disappearance with bow Meister Williams comr was last seen in Indianapolis on August 8th 1995 following his disappearance his car was located at Castleton Square Mall as a young gay man Williams comr matched the profile of bow meister's known victims however it is important to note that his remains were never found at Bow meister's residence by the early 1990s detectives from both the Marian County Sheriff's department and the Indianapolis Police Department initiated inquiries into the mysterious disappearances of gay men who shared similar characteristics such as age height and weight within the Indianapolis region in 1994 they received a tip from a man named Nam Tony Harris he alleged that an individual frequenting a gay bar under the name Brian Smart was likely responsible for the death of his friend Roger goodlet Harris's suspicions were fueled by Smart's unusual interest in Goodlett missing person case furthermore he recounted a harrowing experience where smart had allegedly attempted to murder him during an erotic act we won't mention at his Mansion after they had met at a local gay bar known as the 51 one club in August 1995 Harris encountered this individual once more he followed him and took note of his vehicle's license plate number authorities identified Brian smart as her bow Meister when investigators approached bow Meister they informed him that he was a suspect in the ongoing disappearances and requested permission to search his residence both bister and his spouse Julie declined to allow the search of their property however by June 1996 Julie had grown increasingly alarmed by her husband's his life in a different location but changed his mind after seeing children there this moment may have been the only genuinely compassionate act he ever displayed in his life the hauntings at the farm
