second best quarterback on the Patriots roster the real question here is just going to be on the medical front Mayo said that Kobe brassett could have returned to the game the plan was always to get him out after one series they got back in the Wii hours early this morning they're going to check out brassette over the course of the day jacobe brassette getting blasted last night also Drake May going back to the pre-draft process was the quarterback when I talked to coaches and Scouts everybody said probably needed the most time to get himself ready now we've seen what he can do on the field he's Dynamic he's fast he can make things happen with his arm and his legs but the instincts all along have seemed to be jacobe brassette was going to be the starter out of the gate Health aside it certainly seems like things are still trending in that direction Jamie all right well I'm sure Dad Mayo did not sign up for first-time head coach hire an entire new staff and then have a quarterback Night Lights M when take me back when booby miles gets hurt before that Midland game and he goes to go go see the the doctor and the doctor says you're not ready goes back to coach coach ask what did the doctor say he said the doctor said he lied he said the doctor say I'm Ready the uncle looks at him that's the coach said coach yeah yeah yeah we're ready what happens he goes to the game the coach has them on the sideline it's they're getting their butts kicked pressure is kind of building and the coach against his better judgment puts booby in the game we all who've seen the movie understand what happens in that situation how does this relate to this Drake May scenario mhm if the coach would have just trusted his Instinct I think this whole story would be different do we all think here at good morning football that he should be in this game yeah we we we think he should be the starter but coach May trust your instinct the if you ask Drake May on week one Drake are you ready to go I bet you everything I have Drake is say going to say coach I'm ready but coach May trust your instinct if he is not your week one starter when he takes the field and things aren't going well for you and the Newland Patriots the whole Gillette Stadium is probably going to be chanting his name Drake me Drake me coach Mayo trust your instinct you know what it looks like you had one of the greatest examples of what an NFL ready quarterback looks like in Tom Brady not just by his physical abilities but more importantly his mental abilities do we all want to see him out there yes we do but personally for for me what do I want to see for Drake may I want Drake May to have that 15 plus year career with the New England Patriots and be able to say I had this type of career with one team because my head coach trusted his instincts so I would I would I love to see Drake May out there of course I would I think everybody everybody else would but coach Mayo please just just trust your instincts on this one yeah I feel like his instincts should be to throw Drake in there we know that Drake lost the battle to Kendrick Lamar but this Drake clear out he won this battle in this this quarterback battle if you want to call it a battle the dude won I mean he looks amazing and then I started looking at Personnel I started looking at what the front office and their moves think about it they didn't bring any big free agent in there they get rid of you know judon they ship him out of there like everything is starting to look towards like you know what let's give him this opportunity they've got a clear blank like canvas right now like they are building something new we already know what the history of the the new Patriots like come on like look at that I mean tell me tell me you you you saw something that makes you question why he shouldn't be in there he's going to learn on the fly likeing in a little bit he's got to get his jaw broken init yeah little callus and then boom he's ready to go I say play him I mean they they tripping if they don't play Drake May and they know it too his instinct is saying Play Drake May listen when someone tells you who they are believe them when they tell you for the entire pre-season over and over believe them it nobody is dying to play Drake may but you have this this really gifted child and he should be moved up in a Grade he should be moved among his peers and it's like I'm kind of nervous about that he's going to be the youngest he might not fit in socially but you're doing him a disservice move the kid up however however I've been talking about this for a month I watched that game oh my God that kid who you're going to move up in grades he can handle the class but not if when he's walking into the school he gets hit by a bus guys I'm doing a complete heel turn on this that offensive line is going to kill him I think the offensive line just won jacobe brassette the job let me just give you a rundown a rundown of what happened to New England's offensive line in this game they had 10 penalties all right this is the play trying to protect their Drake May their their Michael Jordan the center was involved in two bot snaps the two tackles had four legal formations the left guard at holding and he left with injury his replacement at left guard whose name is literally Michael Jordan immediately had a holding penalty then their rookie guard ly Robinson had a false start a holding call and gave up a sack that hurt jacobe Bret The Untold the untold story of the jacobe Bret deal and this was detailed by Andrew cahan the Boston The Herald he was brought in sure to Mentor Drake May to bridge the gap he was brought in to get the crap kicked out of him like a crash test dummy he knew that the Patriots knew that everybody knows that and it took about about 5 seconds in that last preseason game for him to get up grimacing because no one can block anyone I think Drake May is completely ready to play I think the offense is different when he's out there I think the whole vibe is different when he's out there and yes gerod Mayo he's definitely the best quarterback on your roster but I think the Pat's offensive line just lost Drake May the starting job because they're not going to put him out there to get his head kicked in in the first week maybe after a month but even me who's been saying Drake May Drake May Drake may play him they're completely irresponsible put him out there behind that line they they will either get him hurt get him confused get him penalized probably all of the above his first game would be a snuff film and I don't want to see it you can't do it it's crazy how bad they are I'm convinced I was wrong yeah I mean in terms of like classroom decisionmaking doesn't matter how fast Drake may can do anything on the board if he has zero time after a snap to be able to decide what to do and how to handle his week one rookie start Kyle I go back to you with the kids analogy I have a fresh 5-year-old she should be going to kindergarten this fall but we moved across country she's had major changes in her life she's trying to catch up so we held her back we're going to make her a six-year-old kindergartner next year there is nothing wrong with the fact that this girl might be the tallest in her class she might be more emotionally set she's going to be a 19-year-old freshman when she goes to college and we're PR we're happy about that we're proud for that and we know she's going to be equipped for life when it comes to that so Drake May to your point I'm not just here for a good time for the Patriots I want him there for a long time and it should not matter if he's the week one starter there's no one who says when he's walking into the Hall of Fame in 20 in 25 years like man I am so glad I was the weak one starter my rookie season no you want him to be at with one team for 15 years you want him to stand up tall feel great about what he's putting out there and fans I can almost guarantee that in New England they don't they would not care if it meant that that man was there for more than 10 years you got to trust your instinct it's not that Immaculate though guys and you know this like what happens after in the middle of the first game of the second game when brassette just doesn't have it or he's getting destroyed and you're saying all the fans are going to be chanting for Drake may they know that Drake May is better they know they want to put him in but you have a firsttime head coach who is probably way over his head a defensive head coach of course he wants to put him in but it's not that simple like he would get him even more hurt and set back if he puts him in in the middle of a game I just don't know now we're starting the season it's obvious that Drake Mays has it that Drake May is just going to sit all year now the crowds will start to react the the teammates will start to react it can be a mess really fast when you're obviously not playing your best quarterback you know the one concern that I have with that is that you know if God forbid if jacobe Bret then gets hurt by this offensive line that has all these penalties and can't block then you're forced with then still with the same situation who are you going to play you're not going to bring the third string quarterback in over Drake May because you want to protect the future so even at that you're still going to be faced with that decision of playing Drake May so it's just one thing to ponder about at some point he's got to play whether you throw him out there early or jacobe becomes a crash dummy gets beat up and then he's so beat up he can't play week three comes around what are we doing you still got to play Drake May so uh dad Mayo I think is speaking right now like on a radio in Station in Boston so it'll be interesting to see how these decisions unfold as today goes because as Kyle just said 13
