PS5 Pro - No Disc Drive... Thoughts

all right hello everyone it's silver Kyle and today we are going to be talking about the PlayStation 5 Pro which I didn't even think I was going to be talking about because originally when this was announced I was like eh not interested I'm not looking forward to that I'm looking forward to the switch 2 that hopefully comes out next year and in my opinion I feel like we're maybe what 2 years maybe three max away from the PlayStation 6 and if it's 2 years I can definitely wait to get like a a midcycle uh upgrade but if for 3 years it's still not that long and the PlayStation 5 is serving me perfectly fine I just didn't feel that it would be warranted and then when the video came out it kind of just blew up and everybody's talking about the price and what's included and not included more so so I was like that's kind of more up my alley we're talking about physical stuff let's get into this so the PlayStation 5 Pro is coming out November 7th of this year 2024 it is going to be retailing for $6.99 in the US in Canada 960 and that does not come with a stand and it does not come with a disc drive you have to get an attachment for the disc drive automatically automatically for me I'm out I don't want this to me very much feels like Sony's way and I mean it's generally happening I feel like we're going to be getting that with Microsoft as well I feel like we're going to get with Nintendo as well everybody's kind of pulling back from physical media whereas I love love this stuff that's the whole reason why I have all of this in the background I specifically got a cix to hold all this junk it's not junk it's absolutely fantastic and I have a bunch of video games downstairs I'll be showing that very soon but that's not what we're talking about here I love physical media and for them to be pushing this system as a diskless digital only PlayStation 5 Pro and you have to get an attachment to be able to play the discs they really want to push and see how many people are going to be buying this without getting without and I'm probably looking at the sales of the attachments and kind of gauging from that to see PlayStation 6 can we just do the same or just not have that attachment at all and that scares me because I know it's coming I know it's coming but I want to prolong it as much as possible and for the upgrades and that's another thing too for the upgrades that we're talking about here it's not that big they showed the screen by screen comparison and I'm like I don't really notice the difference here and then they zoom in and I was like oh I can kind of see that thing that's really far away it looks a little nicer now it looks a little bit more polished that's cool I will admit that when they announced that that you know with the PlayStation 5 we can have the option of going the Fidelity or the performance right you have to choose one or the other this there saying you don't have to that's kind of cool that entices me a little bit more so that it runs smooth looks really nice I'm cool with that there's going to be AI upscaling all that kind of fun stuff that you would kind of expect at this point in time if if they're going to do a midc console you know upgrade this is kind of what you would be thinking that you would get but it's it it wasn't that noticeable and on the one hand I feel that okay so you got all these upgrades they're not going to be they're they're trying to move away from physical media those are bad things and then let's say if I did end up picking this up so I'd be double dipping I I I I could trade in I guess my PlayStation 5 um but then I I'd have to buy this new console and I would have to get the disc drive because all my games are uh in discs I have them all physical media I barely have any digital games on my PlayStation 5 at all uh so that's a big problem and I was looking at what it would be for in Canada it would be $960 for the system itself $100 for the disc drive attachment and that's without including tax I live in Ontario 133% tax it would come out to I think it was just under $1,200 I think it was like $1,197 ah no thanks I feel and I mean I don't really blame Sony for this because who would have known that inflation was going to Skyrocket like people are complaining about the price of food rate right now the price of rent the price of mortgages the price of houses have just shot up I just recently bought my house because it's cheaper at the or it's almost the same price to buy a house it's not it's a little more expensive to buy a house than it is to rent but still I own the place I'm building Equity all that fun stuff I'm not paying somebody else's mortgage and I feel like if we're already getting to that point where everybody's excuse me talking about that people are probably not going to jump into a midcycle PlayStation just for an upgrade now if you don't have a PlayStation 5 already this might be a nice place to kind of start or I do think that there are still going to be some people that even if they have a PlayStation 5 they want all the consoles to begin with so no matter what they're going to get it and then there's also people that are be like okay well I still I you know I love my PlayStation 5 uh but I want to always have the biggest upgrade I want to be playing the best version of whatever I'm playing every chance I get on Console because I mean you could technically get a PC to do that but some games aren't necessarily on PC all the time as as well and and they come out first on the PlayStation even if they are going to be eventually be reported to the PC so I get that um but yeah you are definitely going to have some people that are going to be interested in this but for the most part from the backlash it seems like this console is getting it's not going too well another thing that I had considered is that the list that they showed for the games that are going to be taking advantage of these upgrades isn't even every game and to me when I'm playing the PlayStation uh third party games I got get on Xbox it's just the way that I've been doing things for a while I've been thinking of going back and forth I always try to decide Playstation or Xbox this year for for the third parties although actually a lot of games I've been getting for the switch it's the underpowered console but I ended up getting a lot of games for that because if if it was like an RPG depending on what it is I could totally get it on the switch and and be able to play it handheld no problem so that's why I kind of lean towards the switch for a lot of those games but um for anything else that's on the PlayStation I do have a lot of uh RPGs that I want for it and I don't feel like those ones especially the with the ones with smaller developers aren't really going to take advantage of these upgrades so I wouldn't be able to even get those advantages on them that that's kind of not as fun and uh and then another thing that I thought of is when I compare it to the PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X I will admit that I did get the Xbox One X but to me I was having a hard time with my Xbox One it eventually did die I after I I I got the Xbox One X but I I could tell that I was having some issues it just kept conking out on me like every once in a while and I have to turn it back on turn it off all that fun stuff anytime something isn't working turn it off turn it back on 90% of your problems will be fixed once in a while there's that 10% that doesn't but yeah good good rule of thumb for anything anything that has to do with a power on and power off button it could be your fridge I re my mother's fridge recently was starting to die it just stopped working I was like just unplug and replug she did that it's running smooth it's been running smooth since anyway um yeah my Xbox one had died or was dying bought an Xbox One X as well because I wanted a 4K player it was a big upgrade because of that 4K it it's big enough and and now it's like okay well we're two years away two to three years away from the PlayStation 6 why not just wait until then once again if you don't have a PlayStation 5 this might be a good place to jump in for me it's not because I already have one and I really just do not want to support this diskless generation this digital generation which I know is inevitable I know that I am on a dying Hill at the moment uh that that is just eventually it's going to happen it's it's inevitable Judgment Day is inevitable Skynet is going to take over everything's going to be digital No More Physical media at all they're going to choose what you play when you play it how you play it that's what's coming let me know in the comments below what you think about all of this are you excited for this cuz I'm sure that there's some people that are and there's nothing wrong with being excited about playing the best possible way for whatever you're playing if you want to play the best PlayStation 5 if you want to play your PlayStation 5 the best possible way this is the way to do it it is still an upgrade it is still going to look little bit nicer I don't necessarily know if I would notice it but maybe I would maybe I would maybe I'd be like yeah there's an actual pretty big difference here from what I could see on YouTube it didn't look like that so
