[Music] from the creators who brought you RuPaul's Drag Race and million dooll listing this is world of Wonders wow report things that make us go wow hello everyone and welcome to this week's edition of the wow report where we count down the top 10 things of the week that make us go wow wow I am Fen Bailey co-founder of world of Wonder joined by Tom Campbell our chief creative officer you are off on holiday any moment now in fact probably as we speak you're on vacation I'm in the air and of course the birthday boy uh James St James I I am so old I forgot that it was my birthday that is a lie I was just listening to a piece on NPR driving here about ecstasy the history of ecstasy and it made me think of you James it must have scheduled for your birthday well I am so old I remember when ecstasy was legal and they sold it at the bar they were talking about that yes get a beer and an mdna or whatever it was uhhuh let's start at number 10 Tom number 10 the past two weeks have been like two and a half years in terms of events in this country the last time we were together Biden was still the nominee I think how much the world has changed in the blink of an eye and I do want to talk about this woman that paid a visit to the drag race set pela Harris when she was vice president campaigning as vice president for the Biden Harris campaign her office the vice president's office reached out to us we've been circling each other for a long time you know we had very thankfully we had Nancy Pelosi visit visit the the production twice AOL was an actual judge in the judges panel Corey Booker appeared on a grand finale so and and I I say and it sounds silly but if a republican wanted to be on drag race I would let them on come on down come on down but no so we had so the vice president and we went around and around and you know it's impossible to schedule anything and not because anyone's difficult just because of the way the world revolves including us but there was one day in early June when we could all come together for like an hour to tape we wanted it to be part of this season that's PL the the allstars that just concluded but we shot that a year ago so we came up with the idea of doing kind of like she's coming to us in R viewing party and we'll tape it we'll drop it as a cold open it kind of came out cute I thought we had cheyen Jackson lesie Jones I always want to say lesie Jordan and God bless you lesie not you we had Lance Bass it sounds so corny it sounds like recycling but like it was so exciting to meet her she's so bright now we know this now we know this and she's warm and she's knowledgeable and she's inspirational and she has that politician thing which is not a bad thing because that's her job that she listens to people that she can you know she has sort of this ability to have this meaningful back and forth instant connection with people the way that politicians do she just zero in on you and and yes yes and I I called her camela by mistake and I she said kamla like Cal and I said and if I were calm I would have made that mistake because I know that's the answer but she's very sweet about that and the crew and every everyone was just ecstatic that she was there and I'm trying to dissect it and all I can say is it's not like oh gay people someone's wiing us because she's just super smart we are part of her constituency right we are part of it and and by the time we shot it to the time it aired the world had changed well that I mean it is the most fortuitous thing that has ever happened to drag race ever it's one of those like you could it's a happy accident that just popped in your lap would you you know I talk about the drag Gods a lot I believe the drag Gods I believe that rupal's draggers has been taken by the hand through the darkness of rejection and Prejudice and low budgets and bad lighting to come out the other end as this phenomenon and it means something you know they're not stupid and it mean they know that our show uh is going to reach part of their constituency in a meaningful way and that's it's just a compliment that uh I I share with every person every Queen every grip you know and the entire crew was excited to have someone and you know I grew up in New Hampshire where in the primary State and by the time I turned 18 I'd met every president you know because they all campaign and shake your hand and it's Ronald Reagan hi I'm Jimmy Carter you're like hello I'm you know Junior High student and I remember them inspecting fact iies and and I and I realized oh my God KLA was in was was inspecting the drag Factory this is where the drag is made and she stayed later and everyone was done and they were taking pictures she was very generous of their time and she said you know we spend so much time focusing on what we are fighting against and she's in the middle of the work room and she says this is what we're fighting for let's keep let's keep track of that I know that's a pat thing to say but boy you know we need it we need it she's a very serious woman with very serious credentials you know and we were just a small part of her constituency but she fit right in you know what I'm saying dragul Tom I mean really and on um the a piece of hory for drag race and to Alicia and and theen and everybody who worked so hard to make make those parties come together thank you you can watch R Bulls drag race of course on Paramount plus and around the world on W presents plus number nine James number nine well we have more things going on in the world that are just every moment of every day there's another story coming out of the Olympics and Tom I'm I'm shocked that you didn't do Lady Gaga and Selene Deon because Lady Gaga was magnificent I hope you watched it yes you know you know ry's in Europe right now and I keep claiming that Randy's the dancer that fell off the risers Randy was there and anyway continue continue but um you know she's saying in Flawless French selenon her sounded just so magnificent so still that powerful powerful voice powerful powerful presence but I want to talk about my obsession my future husband the pommel horse guy who just stole everybody's heart he was the The Clark Kent of the Olympics they were taught saying he has one event just one event he was floting over to for the pom horse you know a lot of people do a lot of different events he just had that one moment in the Sun and for hour or so beforeand it looked like he was sleeping his eyes were closed his head was against and he just he was totally asleep they called his name he stands up he takes off his nerdy little glasses he has these nerdy little glasses he takes them off and it's like Clark Kent turning into Superman and he goes over to the pommel horse he sort of touches it and then he gets up on it and it's a one minute 30 second routine and he is flying like a little monkey he's a flying squirrel he's spinning one-handed spins just dipping and Diving and go I mean it's just magnificent to watch and he does this magnificent Dismount the crowd erupts and goes crazy the teammates come and lift him up in into the air and he's cheering and cheering and cheering and then he puts his glasses back on and it's Clark Kent and s he goes back to sleep but it was a movie in two minutes and 30 seconds it was an entire lifetime what happened and it was just he's so cute and I don't know if you've seen him he does these little videos he he's a Rubik's Cube expert too and he can do them in 20 seconds and he's just adorable and I just want I just want the world for him I'm just so happy that he did this it was wonderful I've never cared about the bom horse I but there was something so sex about this guy just I mean the way his legs would spin around and then he'd lift himself up on one arm and his legs would spin around up above him it was just crazy now I thought you were gonna talk about the the man on the horse on the river coming up the San oh oh oh no no no I um I know what you're talking about but no that that's that we can talk about him too but you know there I mean there are so many I I don't know if you saw the um the gymnast from Ukraine the boy the oh I tell you ukrainians are just the hottest people on the planet the just the men the women everyone is just beautiful and he he sort of stole my heart too there are there are lots of fantastic stories I've not been watching closely I have been reading the news reports and seeing clips and there's one me that's going around that says diversity is a great thing look at our Olympic athletes this the Americans alone how diverse they are and from all different places they come and it's I just when I was telling the story his name is Stephen NE roic and so if you if you're looking up NE roic so neic that's a great t-shirt so that's the latest from our Olympic correspondent right yes yeah okay okay okay um the Olympics are streaming on peacock number eight number eight I do want to continue talking about the Olympics I mean I do want to talk about the opening ceremony I was in London and I just I literally was like oh why do I turn on the TV and there was Nikki doll I was like what I mean it was fantastic because in addition to the parade of teams down the S there were also there was a sort of Fashion Show on a bridge across the S with uh Nikki doll from drag race France of course she's been in Drag Race us but she hosts drag race France for three seasons now pich Pala it was like oh my goodness it's the runway from drag race and of course then in Swift succession follows the condemnation from our Christian kons you know uh led by uh margorie Taylor green who's like I for one will not be watching well that's great and then Elon Musk saying it was disrespectful and even the conference of Bishops of France deploring scenes of derision and mockery towards Christianity because of course their assumption was that this was a reenactment of the last up you had Barbara but at the center and Nikki doll and the queens and fashion people have spread out at a long table presumed to be in homage to Leonardo D Vinci's Italian painting of the last well no no no James it's not is it no absolutely not no it is the Feast of bakus as was makes a whole lot of sense when you put drag queens there completely makes it makes an enormous amount of sense when you consider that the Olympics are a pre-christian from ancient Greece where they worshiped the Gods like dionisis and where they cavorted around and had back Andals as you know I mean so leave it to the Christians think it's all about them AB talk about the same party complains about this that it's cutting back education they don't even know what they're looking at well that was Tom that was the joy of it was to see all these memes and posts pop up on social media saying uhuh uhuh it just felt that like the usual cancellation rightwing Christian rhetoric suddenly met a Wall of Resistance and people are like talk to the hand we are not doing this for the gazillionth time Christianity itself as a religion has borrowed stolen countless p Christmas is a pagan ritual right but but but Christians thinking that this is the imagery it it not only is it not in reference to you but also your imagery that you consider to be sacred you have stolen from more ancient religions than yours so wait so you I did not realize was Leonardo Da Vinci um stealing from the earlier painting or was Lally the idea of a long banquet table with a with a with a meal going on is not a Christian IP you mean the Last Supper didn't happen television ready on one side of a table right right exactly I did see one meme that was very funny Christians think this is what turns people gay and it was the all the drag queens and it was like really this is what's turning people gay at the Olympics and it was all the hunky like you know gymnasts and their little bulgy outfits and stuff and the little speedo boys and the little beo and Tom D there was a picture of Tom Dy it was like it's not the drag queens it's it's the swimmers and the gymnasts that you gotta watch out for well actually I mean the guy Philipe katarine who played dionisis who was sort of revealed from under the sort of dish in in gorgeous blue paint and glittery things and not much else he reminds us that if you thought this was sort of pagan and under think back to the they were honey the the they were in the nude most of the time pronouncing around in the nude so you know when the first Olympic Games were all naked I mean for a long time and it was also a society in which samex activity and relationships was celebrated so bases for God's sake they put it on bases they drew it I drew it all naked La Olympics is something to fight for it's something to come together for and to fight for absolutely but it gets even better than that because a lot of people also thought that the the hor figure coming up the say was death on a Pale Horse again you know Christians you know think it's all about them but it's actually the Sana the goddess of the San River saquana and her dionis who was the blue man was the father of saquana so the you know leave it to the French to have this very complicated Rich layered kind of symbolic narrative of an opening ceremony that was absolutely fantastic did the NBC reporters explain this to people no they they had no idea of course like in the UK the commentators were strangely silent when the drag green fashion show happened it was like I don't think they knew quite what to say but you know look even if it was the Last Supper let's suppose it was the Last Supper re which it was not the imagery of a last supper is a common reference I was going to say I've seen I have seen rock stars do it I've seen it in music videos does it battar GAC the picture of of is Jesus and I'm I'm next to him there verions with Trump in the middle of the Last Supper yes yes come The Simpsons the expandables I mean on on so it's only a problem when drag queens do it and because I I mean this just gets me so insane drag queens are actually in the opening ceremony parade of the Australian Olympics in 2000 it was the closing ceremony but yes oh well thank you for that thank you very much for thank Au in the big opening instead of the big closing this time thank you very much that's good yes so I think most infuriating of all is that they even apologized you know the spokesperson for Paris 2024 issued an apology it was a very carefully worded apology sort of sorry not really but but it was still an apology and all I will just say is thank God for Nikki doll who said quite simply we ain't going nowhere and that is the correct response I think well I just wanted to say seonia I don't hardly even know her even known yet there wasn't prayer in school and all of that [ __ ] until the 50s this Christian Invasion that we are yeah and um and God We Trust yeah in the um what is it you say theed of Allegiance under one nation under God was added nation under God that wasn't there until 1959 yeah and it was all started because of Billy Graham the the preacher the super preacher or whatever and he because of the cold war and everyone thought Armageddon was coming or I think it was audacious ambitious and just what a brilliant idea to do that whole thing up the river and yeah sure okay it could have been a bit short water but you know King with Selen Dion I mean what a what a what a t for come on you know yes and congratulations to Nikki doll and all the drag queens uh and non-binary folk in the fashion show there because I think it was really a huge highlight all right let's take a break Blake question I do have a question what child star turned rockar was recently bitten by bat we'll have the answer right here on the W report right after the break you're listening to World of Wonders wow report things that make us go wow welcome back to the wow report it's Fenson here with James and Tom and Blake yes and I asked what child star turned rockar was recently bitten by bat no Miley Cyrus no oh maybe um maybe Demi Mo or Demi um lado no who you're you're all guessing pop stars I'm I said rock star James well then I say Kate Hudson Taylor momson from the band The Pretty Reckless girl she was performing on stage and this bat came and landed on her and she kind of did this move where she like rolled down cuz she didn't even know it was there in it better well thank God for Blake to give us our Taylor momson updates because God knows our audience has been thirsting for an update since Critters and roadkill.com that's from Critters and roadkill.com thank you there's more than just one Taylor in America well Taylor wner we are getting down the top 10 things of the week that made us go wow we've reached number seven number seven I have a theme going here but on Monday I went I you know we' we finished a production I'm going to all my doctors just to get checked up and as I'm leaving my doctor goes I'm just about to jump on this uh uh white dudes for kamla video conference so I came home and I flipped up my computer and it was on were you guys aware of this yes it was incredible and it was Goofy because there was a bunch of white guys there wait did an email go out to all white people or something because I don't know earlier in the week there had been the um 100,000 black women there had been another one for white womena so it's a thing there was like what was it like 300,000 white women gathered for com so it's a thing a trend that is happening mine must have went to my spam box it's on you're gonna get the the Bears for uh uh yes well there has to be a game one because they're they raised $4 million in four hours and it was just one speaker after another uh politicians actors Jordan love it Gordon LoveIt uh the guy from The West Wing with the dark glasses of Bradley Whitfield it started off with the uh oh I so B names how do you do a zoom with like hundreds of thousands of people on it s supposedly I'd heard to the Great find that that they talked to zoom about expanding it the the black women so they had this huge swath of women I watched it on YouTube but they had a QR code and I G I gave a lot of money I gave a chunk of money the day that she became the presumptive nominee that day that that Sunday because I I had a feeling there was gonna be a big number that was G be reported I want to be part of that big number so I just and I've been holding off I gave some money to Joe but I wanted to give more and then during this thing I didn't give huge numbers but gave like three times because it was just like it got you all worked up and it was Wonder you know it's the big star of it though you have to you've left out was Jeff Bridges the the Jeff Bridges that's trying to think of his name leowski if you're talking about white dudes in America he embodies he is the very embodiment of white dudeism yes yes thank you thank you joshin was there too yes Mark Hamill Shan Aston one from Lord of the Rings talked about how um his brother McKenzie who's an actor got sober oddly he said but but he and he moved to the east coast but he'd always come back to his men's group his AA men's group on the west coast he goes now I have a men's group I mean it felt like that it felt like a lodge Gathering like we were elk brothers or something and we were all together and white dudes for buiding doesn't cut it but obviously with kamla you know gender becomes such a unique quality that she has in this race is what makes it so historic and it was really just hearing everybody being positive talking about the change that we can make versus being all like you know I'm just so excited by this this shift I'm so excited the choices are so clear I'm so excited to hear Donald go on and on and on it left me feeling really pumped and really part of something much bigger than myself and I hope that momentum continues and continues and continues something very special is going on would it be sacrilegious to say that the sort of energy in the spirit feels almost sort of Kennedy esque like this sort of huge enthusiasm well I I I do think that probably the more apt comparison is that it's Obama likee and that's something that a lot of people can understand where that just that not only I agree with the generational shift of of Kennedy but just the fact that that it's a black woman and it just it feels like the inclusivity in America is is happening again and that that it's it's not yeah it just feels it feels something you can get you know get behind and so clearly and everyone was so articulate as I am not right now but look for other occasions if you get an occasion to be part of one of these do because I'm just telling you it is it's the pep rality and again this is something kind of since covid right where we actually do these kind of things and know how to do it and it's not just the three of us and Blake laughing on but like you you're part of something bigger and that momentum I think is going to really really help save democracy number five James number six all right if you say so number six number six I need to go off H for a few minutes I I have a something that is just driving me bananas there is this homophobic storyline on General Hospital that is so magga and weird that it's it's hard to believe that it's even around in in you know 2024 there is a character on the show named Blaze who is a rock star and she's like the new upand cominging Beyonce and she has a girlfriend Christina and blazes mother Christina and Blaise are sort of down low on the down low the fans don't know about this lesbian relationship and Blaze's mother is the manager she's a mamager she's very controlling and she's very homophobic and character named Ava recorded the Mother Maria on a homophobic rant in which she was saying these lgbtqp RX alphabet people they're just ridiculous and they want to have children it's just it's it's terrible I I I do not support it my daughter I'm ashamed of her I you know the blah blah blah BL blah and Ava took this recording and gave it to the Press leaked it to the press and it went viral and all she blae lost her record contract her fans turned against her for being gay da d d d da so what happens is everyone on the show all the characters on the show blame Ava Ava is being the villain for being the Whistleblower and Maria the mother is the victim of Ava's manipulations everyone is feeling so oh that poor Maria she was you know they leaked what she said in private blah blah blah so the whistle is the villain here the person who had the the homophobic attack is the victim so what do they do they go on Perez Hilton Blaze and right okay so who the people are making these decisions the directors The Producers D is a little strange because to straighten out the story they go to the lgbtq hero Perez Hilton on the Perez Hilton show to tell the and when they get on the show they say you know the real victim here my mother you know she has the right to believe whatever she wants and it's a it's Ava who who is who leaked it to the to the press that is so bad well now the idea this is not new for general hospital because six months ago there was a story line where Carly and Drew were doing um insider trading okay and they were um uh exposed when Ava found out about it again once again Ava called the SEC and reported them and Drew into prison and Carly lost her hotel blah blah blah but once again poor Carly poor Drew Ava that horrible horrible whistleblower how dare she turn them in and it's once again it's the victim is the the criminals which is so trumpian the idea that that that like the victims are the Crim the criminals are are the ones to feel sorry for and the whistleblowers are the evil people it is something we've seen time and time again in the Trump Administration where they V these people I have I not watched on Hospital closely in a long time my history long time ago with soap operas for a very long time was that they were very covertly Progressive that they forwarded you know General Hospital had the a had the AIDS ball every Nur ball and I know a long time ago but I'm wondering if they still have another trick up their sleeve or something what it is is as the numbers plummet and the viewership goes down they are are are targeting the you know the Midwest they're targeting the old you know the the older women who who are home probably all trumpers and I have a feeling that I know that the there's a writer and I know that um a couple of the cast members who are now back were fired because they wouldn't um vaccinate during the the thing so there's some of the actors are very TR are very trumpers some of the writers are some of the producers are and it's though it's very creepy what's happening there and it's I we get to know Ava better Ava sounds like a fun chick AA is hysterical Ava is my favorite character she is she is a one of the she is an old school Dorian Lord [ __ ] don't [ __ ] yes you know I mean did I get your point about the the whole trumpan thing about blaming the perpetrator I mean no sympathizing with the perpetrator and blaming the victim right but I just sort of feel that you know I like Tom says I just think the two weeks there has been such a huge shift that what used to work is not going to work anymore and that that device that trick has kind of like run out of gas you know your your lips to God's ears because I I want I don't want this to be the the new world the new world Jam St James our Olympic correspondent and our general hospital correspondent will keep us up to date on what's happening on General Hospital number five number five um we talked about it before but uh Tom I think you went to see the John Waters pope of trash Exhibition at the uh Academy Museum of motion pictures and um it's closing this weekend at the end of this weekend if you're in La it's your last chance to go see it and I really recommend you do because I went the other night I got invited to go and have a a little tour of of the exhibition by uh Amy Hammer Who is the new director and president of of of the museum I know it's a bit of a name drop but we were just literally just having an introductory drink and it just so turned out that that very day she had been promoted to director so I was like enormously grateful she didn't cancel on me because like now that you're you're the director that's a big news so anyway also invited me and Nolan to see the pope of TR expert now Nolan has never seen 17 he's never really seen a John mors film he knows you know hairspray and what have you but like you know Pink Flamingos female trouble well where do you start with that I mean you start with cereal mom and and work your way how we started the exhibition the first thing you do when you go in is it's like a little chapel it's got lovely stained glass windows around it you know Divine as a stained glass window so the premise is almost when I'm thinking about everything that's going on with the Last Supper outcry it's almost we are we are zooming we are going 0 to 60 in sacriligious terms right away because you're in this faux Chapel with stained glass windows with all all the John Mor movie stars and a montage of his films and I tell you a montage of his films it's a lot I mean not just an amazing body of work I mean a lot of shock although I actually was kind of grateful in the sense that putting little clips of things in is in some ways less shocking than sitting down and watching Pink Flamingos you know yes as I did as I think I was 18 myself actually when I saw Pink Flamingos and you know there's the Ed the egg lady the competing Vines competing to be the filthiest people alive there's a scene in which there's a sex scene and they [ __ ] with a chicken in the middle and the chi gets offed I mean you're like cancel this cancel that cancel cancel cancel and then it culminates of course this is not a spoiler alert maybe it is a spoiler alert with Divine actually eating dog poo from a dog on the street so you know just there alone I'm like where's the outrage and Amy was explaining to me that they were you know they were ready for a full-on you know Christian Karen meltdown and protests nothing not a single thing and I was like thinking about this and wondering how it could be because John W is one of the most he is the the pope of trash you know the shock shocking filmmaker with countless scenes of depravity and of course his number one stars number one Muse Divine drag queen you know long time ago in the in the 70s and and the 80s so what what gives I have a theory that John Waters has expertly brilliantly curated His Image and his stardom and managed to sort of become a national treasure through his espousal of Filth and depravity but also by moving on he's very cudly though he's a very cuddly older Elder Statesman at this point he's like a college professor or something you know he's very aidite but it is brilliant isn't it that that you know in a world in which you can have a single tweet that can get you cancelled that you did 10 years ago John wat's frankly hard to watch films at times brilliant but not a peep no one oh John Waters we love him he's the yelon John of American film making you know yeah what do you think I love the exhibit yeah I loved it too Randy and I I went as ry's guests for the opening night so your we're book ending it and padora was there which we talked about and Ricky Lake and Jody Foster did you happen to go into the trailer that had the trailer going absolutely went into the trailer yes but how they sold how new line sold the movie and it was just it was just people talking about how horrified and sick sick they were of pingos and it's like but again it goes back to this I was just telling people about the Pussycat uh theater the world of Wonder the old porn theater and and one of my nurses and she said my mother my father said he used used to bring girls on dates to porn mov movies in the 70s that's what you did my mother went to a porn my mother went to go see Debbie Does Dallas I think on at first date with a gentleman and and people dressed up for it you dressed up in in your you know your nice suits and your long dresses and it was a deal it was a big deal and I don't just plug it I praise it but Randy Fenton's documentary inside deep throat opened up that whole world to me which I didn't realize that independent film and the sexual Revolution and pornography were all together during the 70s until they Jackie O was at the premiere wasn't she of of yeah but I think what this tells is what Blake was saying earlier that with Billy Graham's Evangelical Crusade that's when you can trace back the beginnings of this sort of Puritan morality Resurgence that really is very out of step with American history except perhaps when the Puritans first arrived in the 169 you know it's it's the Communist scare of the 50s it's the um you know the the lavender scare that happened under Hoover and the power of Television I mean Billy Graham you know there's always been these factions there's always been this tension it's just when you bring in mass media like in the internet now it changes well yeah and but I also think we could all learn and take a leave from from John MERS who has somehow brilliantly skillfully per perpetrated filthy outrageous revolting revolutionary work and as he himself has said breb is always very kind to him it's like it's a miracle feeling Fenton that that this is sort of a a jealousy or a goal for you that this is something that you want for for World of wonder how dare you absolutely you know I'm just I'm just recognizing another facet of his genius that's what I'm trying to draw attention to I agree with you James let's go take bent into a fitting for a Natty suit though that's just in case just W suit all right James well in that for that I'm not I'm not going to plug Night Fever I I was thinking that that [ __ ] you [ __ ] [ __ ] was was your attempt to to court the the outrage yes the latest attempt at least the latest attempt I mean he is he is a national icon at this and by the way also he has his Fame maintenance room which I loved it's the last room at the exhibit Tom where he like shows clips from all the movies he's done cameos himself in and and all the fan he receives because he is a brilliant actor and I you know he should he should be in more stuff you know he's done Chucky he's done Feud he's done the Bubble Guppies he's done the simps I mean it's like it's an incredible journey it really is no jealousy all all power to John Waters Anyway season four of Night Fever Alyssa Max Goodman dafan Guinness Mickey bourman we this week talk about courting um uh controversy I talk we talked to uh Dustin Pitman about the sex scene the sex clubs of the 70s and 80s and I tell a story about being in urinal naked in a urinal at the M shaft and it got cut out of the of of the um the asset that I was supposed to try and I had to say I had to put my foot down and say I I'm telling the story of being naked in the Ural being peed on at the M shaft in 1983 please let me tell this story so I story James that old story as if we haven't already heard it that hor Old Chestnut yes I know all there I remember yes you were one of the not even well you're invited to take a break do you have a question I do who said this I audition for all three parts on Full House at first they had me for I think the dad and then they had me for the Stamos character and then they had me for the other guy I was thinking I've got to get one of these and it's going to change my life all right we'll have the answer right after the break here on the wow report you're listening to World of Wonders wow report things that make us go wow welcome back to the W report I'm fen here with James and Tom and Blake I've just got to tell you that Global All Stars the queen reveal was just dropped it's coming to where present plus on August 16th globally excluding the US and Canada where of course it will be on Paramount plus and crave it's stunning I was there it was a spectacular season I know it's crazy we said that every time different 12 Queens 12 different countries RuPaul is the judge gotta see it I'm very excited for this good yeah it's pretty stunning BL and I have a question yes I asked who said this it's an actor I'm going to tell you guys so there's a hint audition for all three parts on Full House at first they had me for I think the dad and then they had me for the Stamos character and then they had me for the guy other guy I was thinking I've got to get one of these and it's going to change my life Rob Lo close like 91 so it's probably it's not like Johnny Depp Joseph Gordon levit no it was David doovy from the xfiles oh that's hysterical yeah thank God he didn't book that yeah he's more of a like Moody not not really a sitcom comic guy things turned out okay for him yeah we're getting down the top 10 things of the week that made us go wow we've reached number four Tom number four okay hold on to my analogy it's gonna it's gonna whip you around in a second the summer of 1978 Greece is the word Greece is the word is the word summer of 2024 weird is the word weird I love hey you know I don't I don't write these I just come up with them on just top of my head um this is why you have all those emies is behind you that's just top don't talk about them please pleas um who would have thought I mean we've done resisted the week we have talked we have the man that will not be called this we have all these different names how we hate him the Trump they're just weird that's the word the Democratic party and kamla and everyone have adopted just like what they're saying is is it kind of weird again that's as soon as Biden's off the stage now it's like kamla who can communicate who is who is part of the world you know who who can speak plainly and and and and also is a You Know A District Attorney I mean very brilliant woman and then you have Donald's rantings which for all this time have gone you know unchecked or people can't quite keep up or they've given up or they just take it as fact or entertainment and then it's just like pointed out as weird there was a moment on The View this week where Joy interrupted that I don't think weird is a good word I think they should call him a convict you know what convict hasn't stuck convict right so what is it then about weird because I I kind of I I sort of see Joy's point of view that weird seems almost a gentle loving it's like cooky eccentric but you can't deny it no matter who you are you you have to say yeah that's weird and then you can do with what you want because we're not going to get certain Trump voters back but it's like was that you know he just said that sentence with three verbs and and no you know sentence and and and and and said that Cala you know just became Kamala just became black and and you know recently yes recently well that's weird they're so thin skinned and it takes them back to being the weirdos in in middle school when people when they were made fun of for being weird and I just think that it's just one of those things where like these are just weird weird people they just and it hurts them to hear it because they're the ones used to throwing the the for so long it was you know when they go low we go high and now it's like no we aren't doing that anymore we aren't playing that we're just going to call it like it is and you guys are just freaking weirdos weirdos and Weirdos are creepy it's like you're walking to your car and who's that behind me it's some weirdo you know I mean it's just visceral to me I um you know whatever it's just you know single women without children who have cats are bad for America now which presumes that they're all liberal women who are single with like you're you're you're you're you know ripping apart half of you know a big section of your own base that's Weir I love I I do love that um you know cat women single cat ladies without children thing because like the Taylor Swift on the cover of Time Magazine with the cat around her shoulder but then also uh sigoni Weaver in Alien the whole story revolves around sigor Weaver says there's a problem no one takes her seriously everybody on the ship dies except for sigor wether the woman and the cat yes so so you kept it topical there I love it so just the idea if you have stal if you have something to say it to me say it to my face so many great quotes about basically weird is the word 20 is the word yes weird is the word is the word that you heard it's got Groove it's got meaning stins in eventually it makes sense very very good uh weird is everywhere number three number three we learned that um Bobby Banis uh passed away uh the great dancer choreographer actor who was famously uh Joy boy in um uh Westside Story he was in Mary Poppins he was in Unsinkable Molly Brown he was in bye-bye birdie he was a brilliant brilliant choreographer I think what people most know him for now is the viral video from the Judy Garland show that's what I saw that's what I just recently saw the triple triple viral 201 viral triple triple it's it's been viewed billions of times since it came up in 2010 and just very quickly the story behind it is that you know there were the Judy Garland dancers right and this is the episode with Barbara strian and Ethel Merman and you know the parents are watching and I'm sure the kids are bored out of their minds and then uh you know got oh my God and then Judy says and now the Judy goland dancers and it's six and it's six dancers Bobby Bennis is there's a four in back and Bobby is with a girl in front and they start singing they start dancing to the nitty-gritty which was a song at the time and about 30 seconds in you realize that Bobby is the one to watch Bobby is possessed by a demonic force of nature that he pulls out in front of the others and he is kicking and pushing the air and he is just dancing with so much abandon it's that dance like nobody like nobody's like nobody's watching thing you know he is just full of so much joy and I honestly said I was saying it to offen the other day that I believe that is the moment that you can pinpoint that the 60s began in I love it that is of the youthquake when the kids who were watching snap their necks and realize that we are in control that this is our world now that this is that that this is ours for the taking and it's that same moment I believe that you know Smells Like Teen Spirit when you realize the first time it was on MTV and you realized the 90s were going to be different or you know um Video Killed the Radio Star in 1981 when you realize the 80s it had started and this to me is that moment you can pinpoint in time where it just the 60s are are you what year um it was 1964 63 I think 63 63 was show and also can I say I mean Joy yes but I I mean really sexy I mean I I was just profoundly is that wrong I was just he the his command his Charisma his like I you know like I said just the joy and just this the force of of what he's doing and the way he just he like every eye in the ENT ire country went to him at that moment and just he knew it and he was not afraid unless James they were watching Bonanza then we F but um but it was it's Olympian as well you know what I'm saying it's like the best of the world and the best moment captured in that you know he was 90 years old when he died and I'm glad that he was able to see that see the Resurgence and see the way this modern generation has embraced that video so if you it just go to YouTube and type in nitty-gritty Judy Garland Bobby Banis any of those three words will take you there and it's it's just three minutes of pure joy I love it thank you James um number two number two doctor in the house you're looking at him I'm a doctor oh totally forgotten thank you very much very the lead Fenton it's a very self- serving so here's what happened so you know um Randy my honor at World of Wonder My co-founder um very competitive here in IA I know that and um earlier this year Randy was awarded an honorary doctorate and um Randy gave a fantastic uh commencement address um losing is the new winning we talked about you know the importance of failure as a kind of rocket fuel in in careers and and rewarded the audience with a a lottery ticket under every seat so when went down amazingly well and um you know but I was not honestly I was not remotely because I'm prone to jealousy James but I was not remotely jealous because I knew I was going to get my doctorate a couple of months later I just didn't say anything about it and um I was actually kind of also pleased because I was told I didn't have to speak and there wasn't requirement so uh a couple of weeks away I went over to London and I went to Ports University of portsman which is the town the city I was born in and they have a fantastic University to get my doctorate well the night before I thought maybe I should just check about this not having to speak thing and typed in on YouTube you know graduate ceremonies bort University and sure enough yes of course I had to speak so I'm likeu so what do I do well you know bad artists imitate good artists steal so so I just like you know what I'm just going to use Randy's speech because they changed it and I I actually did get permission from R I said Randy what am I gonna do I got to speak in a few hours like um so instead of um instead of um you know winning is the new losing is the new winning I I said I want to talk about the fword and I culated the Audience by the the threat that I was going to use an expletive and of course the F-word was fake and I talked about how how fabulous failure is and and then um those robes that you're in I mean I was I no disrespect but I felt I was in sort of medieval lesbian you looked like you were at Hogwarts I mean you literally I thought you were you know an owl was GNA fly out any second well all we knew you were just at Universal City Florida you know what I'm saying green screen yeah exactly um I gotta tell you those robes are heavy and they're hot not not hot sexy like hot temperature- wise and there's no air conditioning in England in in Old tribal homelands you know um but anyway this the speech went off great thanks to um Randy there we go that's all I got um oh congratulations that's really exciting what do you have what did you take physically away with you oh um a a i it's it's in the other room a framed of myself looking you know in the in the in the academic drag I mean absolutely that picture that was on um Instagram yes that's what's going to be on your Tombstone they were you know post it on the you don't have acep or anything or a big oh yes no they make you POS with um you have a a cardboard tube that holds the scroll um and they also give you it framed and there was something else I had to hold what was it it's like holding like but it was a lovely sort of tube with a scroll in it that I would be presented with later um but it was really nice actually and it was nice to I'm not sure that the uh the graduates were all computer students and I'm not sure how many of them have seen Drag Race So I was banging on because I did in the end get to use the fword I said you know I feel I'm in in dragon that I should lip sync for my life and then I said you know if if you know drag race before every lip sync ruple says and don't [ __ ] it up so I I stole shamelessly from Randy and I said you know if you [ __ ] it up lean into it fail embrace your failures and above all I said the most important fword of all have fun yeah well another FW fabulous fabulous yes and of course my name is penson so it's all ffff all the way all right let's take one more break and when we come back the number one thing this week that made us go wow you're listening it's a world of Wonders wow report things that make us go wow welcome back everybody it's been a pleasure to be here I'm Fenton here with Tom and James the birthday boy I know it's rude to ask a lady how old she is but can't hear us James Jam James uh his mic is get my ear trumpet out James you're on mute right all right so what is number one this week number one Tom I agree with you that uh weird is the word but is also known as a brat summer now what is brat I mean I I do have to preface this by saying that everywhere I go I see you know this is she's so brat he's so brat oh my God she's she's so brat and everyone is using this green color and I went to um our Millennial producer Blake and I said just you know explain to me he was like okay Boomer God I can't believe you don't know what this is and he curious it made me feel this big for not knowing what did this that's not what happened he was playing koi like he didn't like he didn't grow up being a brat his entire life but this is something about Charlie scx that I had no idea what it was and I was shamed because I I haven't heard the new album or something tell me tell me about this yes like Charlie XCX says that brat is a girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says dumb things sometimes has a pack of cigarettes a bit lighter and a strappy white top with no bra and a strappy white top with no bra does that help James I'm gonna say James was ahead of his time James is is Proto brat because I tell you no James just the it girl your brat XX has coined the term brat and that is the name of her album and last month at the Roxy cinema Charlie XTX hosted curated five movies that she feels are Brat movies and do you know what one of them was party monster yes James party monster because of you and she actually went to that Q&A you are brat it's interesting you should say that because in 1988 spy magazine tried to make Bratz a thing for I guess way before this and they had Cornelia Guest on the cover saying brat and there was a whole article about the biggest brats in New York City and I was one of them and I was a a brat with a portfolio I was a brat with yes who needs a doctorate when you can be a brat but why we're talking about it right now is because Charlie XX dubbed kamla brat she put KLA brat together and immediately the Harris campaign put everything into green into that color green and embraced it so again once again something you couldn't do for Biden God bless the the Patriot that he is but something we could do I love that Megan the stallion performed uh at that Atlanta rally y y y sorry did you see she was wearing a blue pants suit like Cameo wears did you notice that yes yeah when when getting Megan the stallion into a pants suit I think is probably the kamla's biggest you know achievement so far yes definitely she can make that happen she can solve what's happening on the border if you make her president I I think as with WID so with brat What's Happening Here is that for years of being under the thumb of this sort of very sort of repressive Bonkers cult finally we seem to have engaged it and found I say we it's not to do with me but finally we found it that it's Achilles heel that they just can't bear to be laughed at with silly ideas that the sort of humor who knew that sort of memes and and sort of Internet humor would would completely lay waste to Trump JD Vance I mean look at JD Vance with the whole sofa thing you know s and the guideliner they just the wears more makeup than than anyone yes especially after 2016 when memes and stuff kind of ruined the election for us you know right and Tom you were saying it's like well you should call him a convict but but the sort of rational logical approach you're right it doesn't work doesn't work it's the memes that are gonna but he's weird everyone can agree he's weird you can vote for him but he's weird he's a weirdo he weird and KL is Brad and Brad is good we rats and we will fight back yeah yeah all right well there you go glad we cleared that up and so clearly too I think no everyone leaves this broadcast KN oh I get exactly what happened now thank you Tom have a fantastic vacation thank you James another year around the Sun congratulations congratulations Blake for graduating from Millennial producer to conrat thanks same time same place next week until then go out and do something that makes the world go wow wow [Music]
