OUTCOACHED! New York Jets vs San Francisco 49ers RECAP & REACTION | Week 1 2024

man I almost don't even know where to begin to be honest with you man like I I was not expecting that I was not expecting that I mean you want to talk about getting out coached Kyle Shanahan was running circles around Robert Sol and Jeff alri he was toying with that defense toying with it and keep in mind no Christian mcaffrey no Ricky peol and the 49ers had their way with the Jets defense had their way with it they they could do whatever they want BR did Brock pie have a stain on his jersey I I mean they ran the ball successfully they set the edge successfully they protected the passer successfully they were able to get their Playmakers the football right a nice uh even distribution throughout the course of the course of the team they had guys running wide open wide open over the middle of the field in the back end of the defense that is you want to talk about running a 4-3 defense with no blitzing right in other words no blitzing you are counting on your front four you're dropping everybody back in coverage you are counting on your four guys to create Havoc right to set the tone in the trenches to get in the back field to potentially get the quarterback off of you know to make him throw off platform to maybe get him outside the pocket or you know best case scenario sack him but the point is if you are hellbent on rushing your four P you know Rush rushing four down lineman and you're dropping everybody back how is it possible that guys are that wide open you know Kyle Shan again it goes back to coaching Kyle Shanahan knows Sol's Tendencies right for example the cover three looks right where they would maybe take like a guy like Jennings and they'd send him deep on a go route pulling a cornered back deep right because you got a defend the Deep parts of the field G DJ Reed will be uh sprinting backwards all of a sudden that opens up a nice pocket for George kennel to just slide right into and pick up a you know pick up a 15 20 yard game they were doing that those kinds of things all night San Francisco completely kept New York on edge right I mean you want to talk about trench play San Francisco dominated I freaking hate to say that but San Francisco dominated in the trenches zero pass rush think about that if you're Brock you know if you're a Niner fan watching that you're thinking man you know we just got Trent Williams in the building we had you know some problems on the offensive line uh a year ago I mean you got to be loving this performance man like the Jets there was just nothing going on nothing going on as far as pass rush is concerned I've seen a lot of people talk about the Hanan reic situation right uh oh you know it would have been great to have Bryce Huff tonight I think it also would have been great to have jfm right somebody who has shown in the past hey I can stop the run and get after the passer a little bit but more importantly I can set the edge so these outside Zone handoffs things would be neutralized to a certain degree I mean man the Jets just on the defensive line really defensively as a whole it was just a tough tough day and I really feel like it starts with coaching um but I mean you can point to numerous areas right I mean the whole weird SAU Garder thing um Michael Carter got hurt CJ Mosley had to miss some time the safeties I felt like got exploited man Ashton D just the safety struggled um Chuck Clark made a one nice tackle uh Tony Adams made one nice play in the backend but that that was about it from the safeties uh San Francisco the 49ers completely completely own the day offensively they did whatever they wanted they controll the ball they won time of possession they picked up a ton of first downs first down second down third down first down first down second down third down first down it was just a continuation of that right there was never never really a real moment where you felt like oh geez that that was an awful drive from San Francisco what what the heck are they doing they had the one trick play early on but they easily bounce back right a trick play doesn't work whatever um but man we could not stop the run we could not set the edge we can notot uh we canot rush the passer it's it's pretty you know look I I know it's week one and I I want to end this video off on a positive which but you know yes it is positive but it's actually the reality that we're living in the real world world but I'll address that at the end because there's things that need to be talked about here right um and and that unfortunately is just the defensive side again the Niners just did whatever they wanted um they looked you know I was actually and I mean man we had the Brandon IU Drop In The End Zone so there were moments where San Francisco they they had a couple sweet plays that were called back from penalties um just a tough day defensively I I hate seeing bad defense I'm a defensive first guy I hate seeing it tough tough tough tough and then offensively right offensively the the the offensive game plan just seems so vanilla um Bree hoggar Wilson that's it right this just get these two guys to football I I I think I looked down um at my phone and I think it was around like N9 or 10 minutes in the fourth quarter hopped on Twitter and saw somebody uh tweeted out hey what's going on with brillan Allen I'm like I actually forgot bran Allen was on the team did like did he I don't even think he got any game action in the first three quarters if I'm not mistaken I mean that's like it I felt like they were just trying to force feed Bree Hall the football it was not working um the game plan was just it was just to me really lacked creativity Garrett Wilson Bree Hall Garrett Wilson Bree hall and then unfortunately you know we had a couple of screw-ups right the breeze Hall drop the Alan Lazard drop uh the breeze Hall fumble early on which kind of gave the momentum back to you know San Francisco of course um you know it's tough and then we look at the offensive line right we we couldn't run block at all Joe titman really struggled in my opinion up the middle you know I I I thought for the most part the the the tackles did okay given you know their age and both guys coming off of injury and you know uh new season with new team with the new team and you know new offensive system and whatnot with hacket I'm talking of course about Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses but man like the interior we just couldn't get that push we we couldn't get that positive momentum moving forward you just kind of felt like every handoff they just weren't really making a lot of Headway in that in that department and you know I I was really shocked at the at the lack of push at the point of attack right San Francisco I and again look we we have to take it with a grain of salt it's one week of football and the 49ers are a damn good football team I mean defending NFC champions here uh barely lost the Super Bowl like I San Francisco look I you know I don't want to come down on the Jets too too hard here but there are issues there are concerns run blocking right up there again you know like you're kind of waiting to hear Mike Williams make a play you're waiting to hear Xavier Gibson is he going to get targeted is Corley going to get targeted is bran Allen going to get involved all these guys that we're hearing about throughout the course of training camp uh and in some cases preseason and you know the game is just going and going and going you're just thinking it's just going to Garrett Wilson and it's just going to Bree Hall uh which is tough you know it is like it's really tough to you know be in that mind mindset because or or be in that mindset as a fan because you know you can only imagine what what soron right the Niners defensive coordinator is is doing and thinking he's probably thinking okay well they the game plan is pretty obvious here and then of course right after that great draft that the Jets had early on where they went right down the field and we we saw all those passes to G5 you know everything just kind of locked up you didn't really see Garrett Break Free all that much um so did not like the game plan going in unfortun unfortunately we couldn't run everything starts at the offensive line and we just failed in that department right we couldn't run the ball can't run the ball you can't get into third and shorts most of the time you can't establish time of possession because chances are you're going to be in third and Longs obv these passing situ it it was just brutal offensively uh as well I'm disappointed but here here we go right here's the Silver Lining we're we're 0 and one so it's half the league that's the reality right another positive we just played the hardest team that we're going to play all year it's out of the way it's done it's in the books we can move forward and know that arguably every team every single team that we play from here on out is not going to be as good as the San Francisco 49ers now we have a short week against a hungry Titans team who flat out blew it against the Chicago Bears gave the Bears a victory right special teams errors boneheaded pick from will Levis you can tell they are chopping at the bit to get back on the field right home opener for them we have to be prepared on a short week um I do feel like the Jets can win that football game but look this game the Jets were humbled right they they were they were flat out humbled wakeup call so we got to get our stuff together right is something going to happen with reic this week we generated zero pass rush couldn't stop the run at all very tough to watch so I'll leave it there let me know your thoughts Down Below in the comment section um and and by the way I I know this video
