New York Jets vs San Francisco 49ers PREVIEW! | Week 1 2024 | Monday Night Football

[Music] all right guys what's going on welcome in so first things first happy Labor Day hope you had a great Labor Day weekend had some nice time off with your friends your family but because it's Labor Day that means that one week from today is the first Jets game of the season right Monday Night Football Jets at ners massive it's an absolutely humongous game right when we talk about just I mean level of pressure on the Jets level level of pressure on the 49ers we can talk about the Stars riddled throughout both teams it's going to be musty TV in my opinion right not just Niners fans Not Just Jets fans I really feel as though like this this game is going to like like the entire NFL fandom is going to be tuned into this game it it's it's it's going to be nuts right and I know we're still a week out I think this is going to be such a big game and you know to be fair we still don't know what's going on with the reic situation and then from the ners and we still don't know what's going on with the Trent Williams situation we should have some more clarity I would hope by the end of this week at some point right I'm hoping like that that Thursday Friday or that Hassan reik um you know reports to camp at some point but until then you know the Jets are operating without him it doesn't really seem like it's affecting alri affecting Salah all that much even Joe Douglas to a certain degree but let's preview this game right let's dive into this thing right I'm so so excited for not only of course the the game obviously but also for the preview the first preview video of the season I love doing these so you know you're taking a look at the opponent right week one San Francisco 49ers when the schedule came out a lot of people uh were upset about it right oh man the Jets we have to we have to start off with the NFC champions in week one at their house on Monday Night Football like talk about a tough home opener my mindset was you know what this is actually a good thing you know if I had the choice you know I can play San Francisco at any point in the season where would I put him I would put him in week one uh I think it's a great test it's a great opening test and you can make the argument that the that the San Francisco 49ers are the best football team that the New York Jets face all regular season so you know if the Jets could go out there manage to get a win or what have you you're really setting the stage for a successful season right just think about put yourself in the shoes of yourself watching that game watching the Jets walk away Victorious and and thinking about the rest of the season right New England twice a year and whatnot like this is we have a prime prime opportunity to really get off on the right track uh and it's also a good measuring stick game right to see how we're going to perform against one of the League's best in the 49ers and again Trent Williams we we still don't really know what's going on exactly there but uh you know even if he doesn't play it's not like the 49ers are some five six seven win team right this is a fantastic they're they're loaded they're well coached they have the culture they have the schemes they have the everything right they have the depth the defense is freaking phenomenal but measuring stick game for the New York Jets in week one here and let's talk about the Jets offense first right like what would I want to see from this Jets offense against this Niners defense in their house I I think for me in this opening game we have to lean into our strengths we have to lean into them right I think the strength the biggest strength of this football team is running the rock I I think you look at the running back room we have three young stud running backs and breea brillin Allen well to be honest four now because Izzy abanda made the roster we have a stable of young backs right the point Remains the Same you also look at the offensive line the offensive line has many many improvements John Simpson a run blocking Guard from Baltimore avt who does a really really good job in the Run game coming back from injury Morgan Moses excels in the Run game Tyron Smith at left tackle protecting Roger Blind Side and I again I think despite the 49ers having a stacked defensive line my Lord do they have talent there and they have one of the best linebacking cores in the game to help come up and stuff the run I I I really feel as though the New York Jets again if everybody's healthy we can run on pretty much any NFL team out there I think there's so many benefits that come with running the football specifically for this jet Squam really the idea here for me control the clock control the pace which ultimately leads you to control the game right if the nework Jets are controlling the pace of the game we have our offense on the field quite a lot we're forcing the 49ers to come up and make tackles we're getting physical early I I think that really bodess well for this Jets offense later in the game to kind of open things up I do not want to see one these classic hacka games where he just comes out throwing throwing throwing every single down it seems like everything was is within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage I don't think that's going to happen I think you look at the speed on the San Francisco 49ers defense Let's Get Physical right up the middle first to me I I think that that could be a recipe for disaster to come out and just start throwing like a million screens and and all these different Slants and all these short patterns especially if your offensive line is brand new let let's let's really kind of sink into this one and get the young running backs involved I mean it's it's going to take a lot of effort to tackle brol to tackle brillan Allen to get Isaiah Davis down in open field also you look at the speed that the 49ers present defensively like for me at least you kind of feel as though they have the guys to get in the back field they have guys to blow up these these simple short passes uh really early right hu funga at safety uh Warner at linebacker not to mention their great cornerback duo with with Ward and Lenor here you know ideally I would want to get the 49ers defense kind of playing on their toes a little bit you know having them to you know force them to make tackles force them to come up in the box and make hits uh while at the same time controlling the clock and then you know mid third quarter now after a full game of of San you know kind of a just a full-on fight between the Jets and the ners in the trenches now you can really start utilizing the play action game you know play action Center and whatnot really getting Aaron Rogers rolled out on bootlegs forcing the safeties to shoot backwards right pull him up close and then exploit them over the top as the game goes on so really that's kind of my mindset again I'm not with all of the short passing um early on in games it's just weird I I feel like you know again with college you could talk about like air raid systems and whatnot or or getting like a young quarterback comfortable and also you can maybe argue okay well Rogers missed the entire season you want to get him comfortable early on with throwing uh maybe short passes to get him in a rhythm that's fair that's understandable but at the same time like think about the average 2023 Jets game right the Jets offense would come out on the field doesn't matter who they're playing what the weather was like where they were uh come out and shotgun and just start throwing right incomplete on first down complete on second down second and nine they wrapped up uh third down you're already in third and long three two plays into the game you're in third and long and one of those the clock wasn't even running so what are you 50 seconds into the game 14 minutes 13 minutes left on the clock and you have your punt team rolling out it's just you know it's just not my thing now of course you know if you're connecting you're connecting but again when you look at the 49ers defense the talent the speed they can wrap up and blow those plays up pretty quickly another thing to factor is that the 49ers present a fantastic pass rush right not only just of course with Bosa and Floyd who's a new acquisition a 9 and a half SA I think that's going to be a huge loss for the bills uh thankfully uh but they also have pass rushers up the inside too so I don't run want I per again looking at this Jets offense the structure of it I don't want to run the risk of you know trotting everybody out there and hack it just going throw throw throw throw be and giving the Niners pass rush opportunities to get in the back field make plays hit the quarterback I don't want to see Rogers getting hit constantly in the first quarter potentially throwing things off right if you want if you want to talk about knocking the rust off or getting back into the field creating a rhythm hitting the quarterback from a defensive perspective it that's that's like one of the top priorities right again from a defensive coordinator's mindset if we want to disrupt the Rhythm if we can attack the quarterback make him maybe double clutch uh get have an interior defensive lineman get in the back field and uh get him off platform or if we have an edge rusher maybe hit him a little late where it's still you know like still legal within the game and it's not a 15 yard flag and the quarterback now has to pick him up pick himself up off of the turf that stuff over time will affect the quarterback right when you talk about trying to get the ball up maybe a half second quicker uh the clock in a quarterback's head speeding up do I throw it away quicker do I maybe break the pocket when I don't necessarily have to it just to me opens up a can of worms that um it's just not needed feed the Running Backs play to the strengths for this Jets offense when we look at the Jets defense this is something that I'm really really excited for because it's the classic Solo versus Shanahan right these guys know each other these guys know each other's schemes uh They Know Each Other's coaching Tendencies and I think this is really where you know and I understand that Rogers is coming back here but this is this to me is like box office right to see the amount of talent in my opinion the Jets have a top three defense to see this defense go into San Francisco and go up against one of the most uh technical technically skilled offenses one of the best coached offenses one of the best offenses in football uh of getting uh things rolling right creating that positive momentum and just having a timing based system a timing based attack where it's just boom boom boom positive play positive play when Shanahan gets going and he's just dealing as a play caller it it's it's honestly pretty crazy to watch it just feels like every play is the right play every play is the right play he just has such a good feel on the game um you know like if you're a fan of offensive football I'm sure watching the 49ers offense and you know the Rams offense is just a thing of beauty so to see an offense like that with so much talent auk Debo the list goes on CMC uh George KD these guys Brock pie these guys can hurt defenses in so many different ways so I I think for me from a defensive standpoint the linebackers The Edge position and the safeties really really are going to be tested uh you know can these linebackers swing out to the outside to kind of neutralize this outside Zone on these short little slip screens to Christian mcaffrey can we get into the backfield and and take them down we've seen the Jets in in you know of course I I don't want to harp back too much to 2023 because it's two different teams but we know this Jets team in the past has gotten burned from like those small little screens on like a third and 18 and somehow they get a first down we've seen this Jet's defense get burned from mobile quarterbacks extending a play and Brock pry can get outside the pocket especially when the Niners get him in like designed roll outs and he's throwing on the Run such an accurate quarterback and he's it seems like he always makes good decisions um but you know again from the Jets defensive standpoint we know Michael Carter we know s Gardner we know DJ Reed we know that they're going to do their thing we like the of course the guys on the inside kinlaw uh potential Revenge game uh situation Brewing quinnon like these guys are going to go out there and do well I don't have many questions about them but like again specifically let's let's start with safety right can these guys be the last line of defense can these guys be able to cover a George KD can we wrap up an open field and not allow yards after the catch I I think uh I because I know the storyline is Aaron Rogers But Chuck Clark is coming off an ACL where he didn't play the entire season you know so that's that to me is going to be a big matchup right Clark's influence in the game here moving on down to the linebacker you know of course you know can these guys come up and stuff the run but more importantly can they get to the outside can you you know fend off pulling offensive lineman to get to that that outside moment where the r where you're going to see the running back or are you going to be knocked off your block and the running back is going to zoom right by you because you're not there in time you know these are the big questions that you have to ask when you're playing against like this uh style of offense that Shanahan runs and then of course defensively I feel pretty good about the inside but the outside right Will McDonald Michael Clemens Germaine Johnson can we set and hold that edge because I think if if you can against this against style of offense you're going to have a solid performance um obviously it's a lot easier said than done but still th those are my keys th those are my keys defensively set the edge linebacker speed and also limiting yards after catch I I know it you know of course it's it's it's a tall task when you're talking about you know San Francisco here but you know I really do feel like the New York Jets are are are they they have an elite defense they can go up against anybody in football the Chiefs the Eagles whoever the Bengals the Bills take your pick the Jets defense will have success they will have success and honestly you know I do feel like this is going to be a pretty lowc scoring Affair between these two teams one thing I'm actually um pretty interested to see is how Nick Sorenson the new Niners defensive calls the game because senson actually has a similar upbringing through the NFL as Salah Right started with the Seahawks senson started with the Seahawks I believe the year after Salah left uh Salah ends up going to Jacksonville becomes their linebacker coach after senson was done in Seattle he goes to Jacksonville solah finds his way over to San Francisco a couple years later and you know rest's history right works his way up defensive coordinator head uh coach the Jets and then soron senson from Jacksonville goes to the Niners and is starting to work his way up and this this year is his first year as uh as DC so first your play caller from that position we'll see how it is we'll see if you know maybe Salah has some insight on how to attack it I mean obviously he's a master of that defensive system the last thing that I want to bring up here penalties now of course you can say look penalties are important you don't want to give any team any free extra yards but at the end of the day it is the NFL penalties happen especially early on in the season but this game is not the game to be handing away 90 free yards 95 free yards getting flagged nine times 10 times 11 times I actually have a video coming out uh either tomorrow the next day uh highlighting how much penalties hurt the Jets last season how much it just killed the offensive momentum and whatnot really started the Jets off on a bad foot so many times throughout the course of the Season uh to where the actual NFL averages or or the Jets offense averages looked worse or so essentially you're you're stacked against the odds before you're even taking a snap which is pretty interesting but again look you you you can say all right well you know it doesn't matter who you're playing doesn't matter where in the season you don't want to give up penalties for sure 100% but against the Niners against a great team in their house to open up the season this is not the game to be having false starts and holdings and late hits and giving the ners opportunity after opportunity so let me know your thoughts Down Below in
