C.J. Mosley BELIEVES New York Jets Can Reach The SUPERBOWL & Speaks On Aaron Rodgers' Return 🚨🏈

Intro CJ it's a pleasure to speak to you um let's start by talking about these new jerseys and obviously last season we saw the introduction of the the white throwback we saw it in prime time I was there actually for that game against Kansas City at MetLife when you guys were wearing it you come out huge atmosphere and then we've got these jerseys returning this year but in the green in the black as well in terms of I just wanted to firstly ask you about this excitement about getting ready for the new season and seeing these new jerse he's being released yeah um bringing in new uniforms is always exciting before the season obviously keeping um my legacy white uniforms from last year is exciting but now know we get it in green and black so when I first saw the uniforms and you know saw my name on the back of the the green jersey I was very excited um you know just to be able to wear another throwback uniform I never got to wear one before in my in my football Career College college or NFL so that was very exciting just um just the combo the green and white helmet then you get the green and white pants it's looks really good on the field um I definitely saw the picture so I'm excited to where I'm during the season but I'm just looking forward to it we get to know represent know a great time in the Jets history know represent the Legacy uniforms from the New York sack has changed but now we get to you know bring these new style or new color uniforms back and also start a new Legacy for ourselves you mentioned their New York Jets Defense new Legacy and obviously going back to the the sack exchange and it's the New Jersey sort of remembering that moment it's an important moment those 1980s for the New York Jets fan base I'm just wondering now looking at the current defense as well that the New York Jets have whether you know you see similarities in terms of how special it can be not just that defensive front but your the whole group collectively as a unit how special can they be this year do you think the defense yeah um well we've proven to be very special as the defensive line the past few years so um know was time to take it to the next level um you know we created a lot of Havoc off the edge up the Middle With You know with Quin and and you know our Edge rushers know sign retic this offseason was very big so just add another element and you know the way we rotate on our defensive line you know we can always you know stay fresh and stay stay active um so now it's time to it's time to start you know taking those sacks and making them sack fumbles know sack touchdowns and um just having those guys go crazy and then you know the DBS and linebackers are doing what they do best know covering and you know hitting people in the back end so they have time to get after the quarterback I suppose I've got to Leadership congratulate you on your new two-year deal as well and you know as as a as a Jets fan myself I know how integral you are at the heart of that defense many see you as the heart and soul alongside Quincy Williams as the two linebackers many people believe that you're one of the best linebacker pairings in the NFL I just wondered as a leader and the qualities that you have as a defensive captain last year how much you're enjoying your time on the New York Jets right now and that role and responsibility of being a leader as well yeah I appreciate you um but yeah man it's it's very exciting um these last five years well six years now as in New York Jet and it's been pretty much life changing as far as my NFL career um know I've grew into this this new version of me being a leader um like a full leader you know in my past I've been times I have to you know talk a little bit or say something things but I if I could I could just sit back and you know watch you know people that you know my veterans and you know the other guys that I play with I could watch them leave so um you know I was always a leader by example because I didn't have to say much but you know when when it's time to say something or you know you feel something's not right or you know like something needs to be said um you know some people had a ability just to get out there and say it and it took me a while to do that but been in some some strange some tough situations as a New York Jet know dealing with some things I've never done with in my NFL career um allowed me to you know find my voice and U learn how to express and talk to my different teammates and talk to coaches and build a relationship with players um on and off the field so um every day I feel like know I'm learning something new with our with our coaching staff and you know the way they they come to work the way they keep keep us prepared the way they stay ahead of the game is um you know my success these last few years is also Creed to them as well obviously Draft Day Experience we've got the NFL draft coming up in the next couple couple of weeks and it's a busy time a lot of young college players ready to make that move that's big step up to the NFL and I just wanted to ask you about your journey you know being a first round pick yourself in 2014 this whole draft experience sometimes you know trying to understand it it seems like there's so much going on and it's such a long process maybe that day in particular on draft day what was that like for you in particularly for your experience yeah it's definitely a long a long process um you know if we start starting from college pretty much is well for me it's different now because n and all these things but know as soon as you're done with college you you know you finding your agent know you figuring out what you're going to train for the combine so for me I went down to IMG in Bradington Florida so um I don't remember now but maybe I'll train there for like a month two months however long you know the difference is between that and the combine so you know you're prepping for you know the different workouts know you're doing um like tool work because you know you're getting ready for how the teams are going to ask you questions you know learn how to write plays on the board or you know um having the proper whiteboard etiquette so if you stand so I'm left-handed so when I write I have to you know go across the board but then I have to stand off to the side so you know the whole room can see the board so you just learned a whole bunch of things that you like really didn't didn't know that you had to learn so um so um IMG really prepared me well um when I got to the combine you know I did I did great in the classroom when you know coaches was asking me about plays know a lot of that credit goes to coach s coach smart from Alabama just been in that that um difficult defense and you know learning how to make calls and communicate side on the sideline and through your teammates so I definitely been prep you know very well once once I got to the league then after the combine you know now you go back to train some more because you have to get ready for pro day so once you do pro day now you have a little break to you know hang out with your family then you know it's now time to get drafted so um I got drafted in 2014 and that was the the last that was the last year where it's it was just in New York that's when I started to move it you know to different places after that so it was very special for me because know I was in New York and I'm from Alabama so that was just mind-blowing just St you think about um I got to bring like I got to bring at least you know 30 plus family members so that was special as well so just to have everybody that's supporting me and just being part of a special moment and you know following my name was called you know the first round um it was a it was a great great experience a great moment um I thought I was going to be like a little you know kind of like crying or you know feeling like like I was just you know on a different H but um I got picked at 17 but it took like two and a half hours so by that time I was just ready to you know get up and go because my back was hurting just from sitting down so once I finally got called it was it was great it was a fun time and you know the rest of this history well Advice For Rookies there's a lot of college players who are about to go through that very special moment in the next week or so and I was just wondering for the players who come into the Jets organization from this draft class what's that first piece of advice that you're going to say give to them in terms of to help them on their journey and maybe to prepare them for what's to come in the Jets organization um you know main thing for them for any rookie coming in um you know first you know just find your establishment you know who whatever position you're at you know find get that position coach's number so you can always have contact with him just in case anything goes wrong and after that find special team player I mean special team coaches number because that's going to be your best friend as a rookie that's gonna be your your first ticket to you know making a team especially if you're if you're not you know first second round draft pick or you know top top skill guy you're gonna be playing special team so um once you get those two numbers then you get the your head coaches number because you don't need his number as well and after that then it's time for you to get to work well New Additions there going to be obviously we're here talking about the new jerseys that are going to be released for the Jets and obviously there's going to be new players wearing them whether that's in the draft or the business that GM Joe Douglas has been doing this off season improvements on the offensive line in the defense wide receiver as well with Mike Williams coming and I just wanted to get your thoughts on some of these exciting new additions that are going to be coming into the building it's very exciting it's been a busy offseason um J D's been know balling signing players and doing his things um you know whatever players that's been kind of marketing and free agents and you know I think about sa and you know the younger guys always on Twitter you know talking and trying to get players in so know what whatever is everybody doing is working so um we we built something um you know we've shown and we've proven that you know we can be a team that can be that can make plays and um do some damage in this league so now it's time for us just to keep putting pieces together now we keep revamping you know we still have our a good amount of our cour together which is really important for our team as a whole um coaches that are still know in this thing to try to know better us and keep keep building and keep winning so um once we get this offseason program going and you know get everybody back just got to take it one step at a time stay healthy know keep working keep getting better and keep the keep our main goal in mind that's to get to the playoffs and win a Super Bowl final Aaron Rodgers Return couple of questions from myself CJ I just wanted to ask about Aaron roders coming back as well and obviously with how last season you know ended for him four plays in on that big night on Monday Night Football I just wanted to get your thoughts on how the team dealt with that at the time but then now looking ahead and the positivity Aaron recently said in the podcast how coming into New York it's made him fall in love with football once again I supposed to have people on the team ready to go like that who were all in it must be really exciting looking ahead to a big season yeah um it's it's very exciting know know leading up to you know Aaron know signning with the Jets last year um you know I remember when I was at home during the offseason and I had did the fake subscription to the the pat MCA show just to you know listen to see what he was going to say about what he was signing so after like an hour of watching that he just told us that he would like to play with us so you know I kind of feel like you know he wasted our time a little bit but eventually he signed so that was exciting and one of the coolest things that that happened during that time is um some video some video real popular up and he was kind of at an interview he might have been at a Taylor swi concert but um confetti was dropping and and he was saying like man I can't wait to see this after we wear in the Super Bowl and like that gave me chills because for a moment like I had to stop talking about Super Bowls I was just you know focus on staying healthy trying to you know keep keep playing and you know keep the team focused um because you know just at the time things weren't going that way as a as a team so when I heard him say that and you know I finally heard somebody else talk about you know that same vision that that I kind of lost for a second man it got me fired up and you know having having somebody like that in the building that can keep spreading that because know we all human know we all know get tired we all get a little lost and sometimes we kind of wind off the road but know having people like him in a building and the way he talks and works and how you can affect and how can you affect and coun of control players to do and the coaches do the right things all the time um you need that so um definitely decited to have him back it's special Dealing With Playoff Expectations and it sounds hopeful and I think that's what so many New York Jets supporters want to hear and they obviously get excited they're aware of you know the 13 seasons of playoff drought but it's the dreaming that keeps fans going every season I think hearing things like that it gets you really excited ahead of the new season finally from myself CJ dealing with those expectations players obviously the supporters would love to have playoff football coming next season after waiting so long how do you deal with those expectations as an organization and as a player as well um I guess it varies for every player um you know a fan a Fan's expectations compared to a player just it's kind of it's a little hard to kind of put together because um from because they want us to win every single game every every single year so um it's a little hard to do but um you know we definitely on the same page though now we want the playoffs uh we want the toughest team at the you know theough times in the year the coldest times of the year because that's what it takes to get to the Super Bowl um it's been six years now for me since I've been to the playoffs so um you know I'm ready to get my name back out there too on later late in the season so people understand and people can see you know what type of team we really are so um in order to do that you know we have to you know keep keep the main thing first and you know that's us just getting back together first this offseason that's us you know prepping oursel now to get ready for camping you know right there and you know get ready to have our bodies you know gr through things that you know it's not supposed to but um at the end of the day you know it's all about us you know being consistent um having a a mental a mental mindset to be ready to take on things that that we can't control sometimes so and um and when those things happen how can we react how can we know get back up how can we find a way find out a way to win the game so um at the end of the day it's about us winning it doesn't have to be pretty doesn't have to be a blowout but it's about winning and that's what we have to do well I can't wait to see you guys next year ball out in those new
