🎾Fritz vs Berrettini Prediction | US Open 2024 Tennis Preview

hey guys and welcome back to the channel it is US Open 2024 preview and prediction time and we've got an exciting one to get into today it's Taylor Fritz versus Mato bertini and as you can see on screen we have managed to partner up with match FL Graphics so you can see those beautiful graphics on screen and we're going to get into the nitty-gritty as well of this graphic talking about uh their their coaches their ranking the head-to-head tactically strategically how might play out the match as usual and also we're going to look at their form and not just their first round matches which they obviously won at the US Open this is a second round match but mainly actually focused on the last few months so what what their results been like in terms of finish results for each tournament and then also look at the Grand Slam results for the last couple of years as well ultimately I'll give you guys my prediction as always so stay tuned for that as well before we do get into it though remember to that like button do subscribe if you're new and do leave a rating review if you're listening on a podcast platform okay so let's get into this so you can see Taylor Fritz is the number 12 player in the world mat bartini 44 at the moment they both have been in the world world's top 10 I was about to say top 10 in the Top 10 rankings and mat bartini Peak two years ago ranked at number six Taylor Fritz at number number five in the world only a year ago both 26 and 28 respectively Fritz 26 bertini 28 bertin's been struggling of course with injuries he did have strapping on his right leg in the first round match that he played against Ramos venas and Taylor Fritz came through quite nicely against ug Carabelli both players winning in straight sets Okay so in terms of other bits that might be of interest to you coaches so we know that in Taylor Fritz's Corner he's got Michael Russell and Paul anacon for bartini Francisco Roy and Umberto Rihanna and look they're both sponsored by Hugo Boss so the expectation is who is the boss here which is a pretty good way of putting it and match flow have given Taylor Fritz the edge in this one 65% chance of winning compared to 35% for Matteo brotini and if we then talk about the head-to-head while the head head is 3-0 in favor of Taylor Fritz so that is in keeping I guess with the historical results between these two players Taylor Fritz has beaten him twice on outdoor hard and once on indoor hard some matches have been pretty close the last one last year at the United cup was a very tight one two tie Breakers and the two TI Breakers were 74 86 that Taylor Fritz managed to come out on top in so yeah not not super straightforward by any stretch of the imagination but Fritz seems to be able to boss excuse my pun boss Mattia britini at the moment that is anyways in terms of the form for both players and I want to talk about it tactically because I know you guys are going to be waiting for that we can very briefly talk about the last couple of months and then we'll dive into a more holistic view of looking at Grand Slams Etc as well so you can see here for Taylor Fritz he's had some decent results a couple of quarterfinals one in Rome one in Queens and wian of course as well lost to MTI W eastborn so a title won there as well and then Olympics I mean it's on Clay don't really want to take too much from it but Montreal and Cincinnati just the one win lost in the second round in Montreal and then lost in the first round T Nakashima in Cincinnati who hog garuna I mean there's no real shame in it I guess Los Nakashima and I think it would have taken him a bit of time to get used to being back on Hardcore after playing on Clay the same can be said for bertini though of course and he's had an interesting year I mean he hasn't been able to play a lot again plagued by injuries and lost in the final of star which was on grass to Jack Draper and then apart from that nothing really to speak of much at har wimon he lost a center at Wim the second round there's no shame in that Garden KS gets B to Clay events he managed to win both of those I think gastal was an impressive one beating Felix Orelia seem s passalis Galan I mean they will very solid clay quarters uh kits ball a little bit less in terms of well definitely not as many high-profile names in there but still an impressive win including players like too Olympics and mon didn't play in Cincinnati hogar Runa was his Nemesis in round one and didn't manage to get past the Dane so in terms of an an overall view from April until now Fritz has played nine tournaments 19 wins eight losses at a 70% win rate for bartini only the six tournaments 16 wins four losses and 80% win rate now obviously that's we're taking into consideration the fact that we are well those stats are with the assumption that all tournaments are at the same level which obviously some are 250 some are 500 some are Master 1,000 tournament some are Grand Slam so some have more importance than others some will be harder difficulty than others given the field as well so take that with a little bit of a pinch of salt is what I would say then if we look at it all the way back from July 2023 so we're taking it a whole year or more even uh and and looking at the results I mean for Fritz uh we can look at it from a high level to 16 tournaments for Fritz 32 wins 15 losses 68% win rate bartini eight tournaments six wins eight losses 43% win rate so you can see the difference in win rate favoring frits over a longer period of time so that's that's a real positive for him and yeah we went through obviously some of the results already uh but to add to that a semi-final in Madrid quarterfinal at the Australian Open lost of jovic Indian Wilds round of 16 also Runa and then a couple of losses last year in Cincinnati in the US Open to jovic in the quarterfinals of both those tournaments again no shame in that bartini just hasn't played a lot and he did play the US Open last year lost in the second round so this stage last year to renck and he has had some really good results at the US Open in the past making some deep runs but unfortunately it just hasn't been the case uh for the last few years he's really really struggled to get a string of tournaments together and performances to then push on again and try and make his way back into what could be say the top 10 whereas Fritz has been very consistent he plays I think more tournaments in tennis than than nearly anyone on tour uh so he tends to stay very fit and healthy in terms of then the Tactical and strategic thinking behind this match and and what strengths the both players have well for Taylor Fritz and Mata bertini both have massive serves we know that they've got two of the biggest serves on tour bertini you know I think at one stage was being touted as arguably having the best serve on tour I think it's a bit different now he's not been playing as much as difficult to say that but Taylor Fritz we know can really ramp it up as well I think there's been a little bit of not criticism but I think there's been a thought about Taylor Fritz in his serve that he doesn't quite hit spots as he should I think he has been improving on that for bartini I think generally he's quite good with his spots he's got good variation as well but both players yeah very good on serve and they tend to be able to hold pretty comfortably especially against another big server right so bertini and Fritz not the most naturally gifted returners so this matchup will definitely have a big emphasis on who serves better and on top of that of course both players especially after looking at the first round matches and and recently as well bertini has got an incredible forehead a huge RPM on that forehand uh so Spin and just penetration through the court Fritz also has a very big forehand and something that he's been working on a lot he's had a very solid backhand for quite a few years he's got one of the best two handers I would say on tour but the forehand at times a little bit pedestrian he's a little bit safe on it I didn't quite go after it now he is and I think he's realizing that he needs to he doesn't like coming forward to the net like bartini does so that's a real positive in the Italians corner I think from the back of the Court Fritz is more solid he can play the longer points because he's got that safety now of having a a pretty solid two-handed backand bartini's backand is is nowhere near as good it breaks down more often however what I will say is that he's got a much better slice and that variation will be really really important against Fritz because Fritz is the type of player who loves playing against someone who's going to play the same Rhythm the same pace of ball uh because he feeds off that he's just he's a type of player that if you put him in you know an indoor hardcore was still conditions with balls and courts that are going to bounce you know are going to bounce consistently he will be a real real problem for you I think as soon as elements start coming into play it can be a little bit more tricky for him for example at Winwood against M MTI starts shaping you know chipping the ball into the wind using the conditions and Fritz really struggled and that's why he ended up losing that match actually after being up as well in it for bartini I think he handles the outdoor condition is a bit better and that could be a factor we don't exactly know what the weather's going to be like it's going to be hot we know but in terms of wind for example we have no idea uh in terms of knowing what the KES will be like but look out for that if it does start getting a bit Gusty look at how Fritz is playing how does he handle it like is he has he learned from that match against MTI for example then you also have to look at so from the back of the Court we' kind of established I think Fritz is is the more solid of the two bartin's got the better slice so he's got arguably better variation and not arguably he does have better variation I think Fritz is is more solid the longer points will favor him and I think he's able to at times out muscle and out power plays on the back of the court and he would potentially have that opportunity against someone like a bartini uh especially in the back andto back and exchanges I think he'll try and dominate those and he'll try and get to berit back as much as possible I don't think he'll mind too much B he slicing that ball he'll pick it up quite nicely being a tall man for he does get down quite well from what I've seen as well in terms of movement as well and we'll talk while we stick to the back of the court I think bartini moves pretty well he does but Fritz moves a lot better and I don't think Fritz is actually the most athletic on tour I think he's maxing out his athleticism in honesty but he does move better better than vertini in my opinion he's still not a jovic alcaraz you know Runa sinner type specimen that's for sure but he is definitely someone who in my opinion anyway is at at least the average kind of level of of movement on tour I would say bertini I think sometimes leaves a little bit to be desired on that front I know there's also injuries he had strapping for example I do wonder sometimes whether he's holding back a little bit in chasing Bulls but I think generally speaking he's he's not towards the top end and I don't even think he's at average and I that might sound harsh but I just don't think he is what bertini does have though to his Advantage is the other aspects of his game in comparison to Taylor Fritz so for example utilizing the drop shot I saw him utilizing that a lot in practice at wion he also used it when he did play the couple of matches he did play I think it's a really useful tool against someone like Fritz who isn't as I said as quick as say a Sino bertini played in the second round of wimon and that's a really good change up to have if if they're exchanging and bertini feels like he wants to finish the point earlier which he will try to do he'll try to pull the trigger earlier he'll try to be proactive in the points he doesn't want the points to get super long he will then utilize that drop shot for example he will utilize coming into the net as well he's got really good hands and he approaches quite well behind a really kind of knif likee backand slice as well at times uh and occasionally he might get past and he has to accept that but I think in the net he's actually very good he got great hands it's just that approach shot needs to be on point against someone even like Fritz who as I said not the most athletic but he hits a very clean ball and if it's in his Hitting Zone then you're in trouble and I also think for bartini what's going to be really important as well for me anyway is those cat and mouse points right the net and I guess the drop shot and coming forward to the net it will drag Fritz to the full coure anyway that's where he wants Fritz to be because Fritz is not very comfortable transitioning com to the net he's not I think we've seen it a lot and it's definitely something that's still lacky in his game he's clearly been trying to work on it I've seen it at times but it's still not Supernatural and even against a player like UGA carabell and that's no offense to him caliber of of you know of tennis and and status but he was winning the majority of those cat Mouse points Around the Net Fritz was actually you know those little touch points Fritz was losing them and bertini might need to drag Fritz forward at times and the drop shot doesn't need to be a winner can even be just a drag Fritz forward the issue bre is gonna have though is that his movement is not Elite so if he drags him forward and Fritz hits a pretty good approach uh bertini might not be able to pick him off with a l or pass if he's on the stretch so he's going to have to be very selective about when he does play it and you know I'm not I'm talking about these guys like the old men they're nod of course they move unbelievably well generally but I'm just comparing them to some of the other guys on tour at the moment because there's some incredible physical specimen on tour at the moment so I I think I've actually summed up pretty well strategically and tactically how it might play out I think for me brotini in terms of things he needs to do to win needs to serve well which I think both do anyway also needs to be really good behind the serve needs to try and hit as many forand as possible as well and I think he needs to try and engage in the forand forand as much as possible I think that's a positive for him try and change direction first be the proactive one shorten the points with the drop shot and also net play and bring tailor forward make him feel uncomfortable that's what he needs to do and also use the change up of the back hand slice to disrupt the rhythm of of Taylor I think Rhythm change is going to be really crucial for bertini but Taylor Fritz again yeah serving well is really important and actually for him he just needs to stay really solid from the Baseline try and get to bertin's backand as much as possible and try and engage in those backand to backand rallies and he knows that he can control those for the most part and be offensive when it comes to bertine changing the pace with the slice for example picking that up using angles well like I think Fritz has been really good at times the last couple of years of being able to pick up nice angles not just trying to hit through the court with depth but also finding those really good angles and dragging bartini around making him feel uncomfortable making him having making him defend right which isn't what bartini wants to do and bartini isn't the best of Defending so yeah I think that's in my opinion what Fritz has to do he needs to stay patient at times as well if bertin is hammering him with the serve with the forehand be patient don't get frustrated and then he can kind of he can just weather that storm because he'll have his own chances as well to be on the front foot in terms of prediction it's tough to go against Taylor Fritz just because of the the matchup historically and also if you think about it as well but I'm not also convinced about bertini's leg and that's a real problem I think if it goes long I think he'll struggle I'm going to go with Taylor Fritz in four sets I think bertini will take a set but I think Fritz will get the win and let me know in the comment section below who you've picked and why I'm very interested to hear your thoughts and we'll see you later on for some live streams and some more match previews thank you very much guys stay safe and well and we'll see you on the next video
