[Music] Lexus presents tennis on Sky Sports Taylor congratulations your fifth major quarterfinal second consecutive year here what has been the most pleasing aspect of how you've been playing through the first week I think just like my mentality like how I've been uh just focused like getting through matches handling different situations well I think I've been very just locked in and not getting I guess too upset with myself when when certain things uh don't Go My Way Taylor you have been receiving incredible support here at the US Open and this morning for your match I don't know if you noticed but the line was starting here all the way from here from the Fontaine to the Armstrong people were absolutely queuing to see you play against Casper is such a tough match do you are you aware about that first of all because obviously you guys are a bunch of American doing well and how much that is helping you to lift your spirit yeah I really I really felt it uh CU I've played all my matches on Armstrong so far this year but I really felted especially today when I when I walked in the court um it was like completely like different energy the cheering and yeah I mean they were behind me the whole way like I mean even like cheering sometimes when cord Miss like a first serve which isn't I'm like like let's not like let's not do that but like I I love like I love uh just feeling like yeah the crowd is so into it and they're they're behind me you love the energy it brings but does it also bring the extra pressure cuz you're an American am playing in your home slam it it can but I I really haven't felt that outside of like the first set of the first round which is like I feel like that first match is a bit like a bit tight you don't want to go out in the first round of your home slam but since then and I I just feel like I'm playing well I have the confidence and I feel like the crowd only helps me and it's an amazing time for the women and also the men in American tennis you've got five in the top 21 you've got six in the top 40 how does that hopefully friendship and competition help you it's it's great I think um I we got so many guys but I just think we all push each other to to be better and have better results and you know everyone wants to be uh the one the one on top and it's it's just great to have that like rivalry in the uh just the competition but I mean at the end of the day like Tommy and Francis and I mean These Guys these are some of my like closest best friends you know well Taylor if you look at the bigger picture you had an incredible Summer with the Olympics especially grabbing that medal in doubles with your best bu in Tomy can you sum up how was that week for you did you end up going to other sports did you end up meeting other American athletes maybe Idols that you have in American sport that you really wanted to get along with yeah I mean it was really cool getting to meet a lot of the American athletes uh on the the opening CER like we were with a lot of the the basketball U got to meet LeBron yeah I didn't want I mean I didn't want to bother too much everyone was coming I'm asking for pictures but I mean got to meet the basketball team I got to meet uh Simone biles like I mean a lot of really cool stuff but I didn't get to go watch any other sports cuz I signed up for singles doubles and mix doubles my days were like wake up at 8:00 get back to the Village at like 11: so uh I was pretty busy but it was I mean it was a great experience but you get to walk out with the medal exactly which might be pretty special yeah I mean my goal going in was to leave with the medal so it's great to do it and it's great to kind of share that moment and that experience with you know one of my best friends Taylor we don't want to keep you for too much longer just to say congratulations and maybe finally you could turn around give wave to the fans but we wish you the best of luck moving forward in the tournament thank you
