[Music] Lexus presents tennis on Sky Sports congratulations Grand Slam semi-finalist how does it sound and how do you feel sounds crazy um but yeah I'm so excited um you know to get the win today and uh I think I played really tough maybe not my best tennis the whole time but um you know played really tough and was able to hang in there when when things got Rocky and um you know tried to put a lot of pressure on her uh when she was trying to close it out there in the second set but um yeah it's it's pretty insane to be here in New York City semifinals uh yeah it's awesome Emma I was actually Courtside for your match and I was sitting just really behind you and when she was up 51 I never thought your felt that you were getting any worries or you were sort of feeling frustrated by her level and I thought you actually had a way back in this match did you thought at 51 you were heading towards a third set or in your mind you could actually you put it out in two yeah I felt like I don't know weirdly uh confident in myself there uh down 51 I felt like okay if I can get a good hold in then um you know things could get interesting and I felt like uh maybe I loosened up a little at 51 I felt like um you know she has a chance to close it out and I kind of don't have anything to lose at this time and uh you know I kind of carried that with me through to the end um but yeah I really I couldn't picture myself playing a third set so I was like might as well might as well do it into you didn't wanted to play a third I didn't want to play play a third no I I would rather uh close down too so it feels like a lot of this goes back to you recently said in press I I feel like I belong I believe now that I belong here and that must be you've always had the game but where do you get that belief is it playing matches it something that clicks because looking at you out there you do belong yeah I think uh it's come with playing a lot of matches and and getting more experience uh on big stages like Arthur Ash uh you know I played Center Court at Wimbledon Philipe chatre French Open Indian Wells Center Court so um you know notching a lot of uh experiences not just um not just wins but I think it's the experience that uh you can learn so much from and you know I think uh I've been learning so much and I'll still probably be learning the rest of my career so um yeah and then I think it's just having confidence and uh you know my physical ability but also uh you know my mental toughness and and how I'm able to stick in there when things get tough Emma we talked about your D last time you came here on that stage for the interview and you paid a beautiful tribute to him on the court today from your court interview after the match can you tell us a little bit maybe what your father was feeling he was sitting in the box right there seeing his daughter going on and making the semi-final of the US Open have you been able to talk to him after the match what has been the conversation yeah I saw him after the match and he said uh he had a few tears there when I shouted him out uh after the match so that was really sweet and uh yeah he was really excited and uh you know he came to watch my warm up and before he just said uh enjoy it have fun out there it's it's US Open quarterfinals this is insane just uh take it all in so uh I definitely took that with me out there and and it's so cool to have him in my box cheering me on always and uh he's an incredible uh you know form of support for me so just just so grateful to have him now there's no time to celebrate cuz there still to be done there's a semi-final to play do you go back into routines is there a restaurant you have to go back to do you not care about any of that stuff how do the next sort of 24 48 Hours look um no I'm not supers stitious not even a little stitious uh so I'll eat wherever my parents uh take me uh my my fate tonight is in their hands um but yeah definitely uh get to work with my fysio do some good recovery um uh yeah we'll see what tomorrow has in store but uh yeah eat some good food relax a little bit you watch a match tonight as well for sure for sure I'm I'm becoming a huge tennis nerd so definitely got to watch watch some tennis it's lovely to see the smile on your face congratulations you are a grand slam semi-finalist thank you congrats thank you good luck
