FSU Football | Mike Norvell on intense Friday practice and need for team to perform less sloppy

perfect um you know I thought thought we had a lot of intensity at practice today the guys came out with the with the purpose of you know working to uh to get better you know obviously physicality toughness you know mindset something continuing to push throughout the course of the week um you know we know this going to be a going to be a physical game and uh you I thought the guys you know did a good job of the the intensity I think you know there's times that you know you in that with with all intensity and uh you know obviously um you know bringing that edge still being able to control your FOC focus on the details on the fundamentals on on you the little things that going to allow you to be as powerful as you can but still playing you know discipline brand of football where you need to be where what you need to do and uh that's something we're going going to continue to work on as uh as we uh you know are going through the rest of this week and then you obviously you preparing to go be our best come Monday night but uh you know I think our guys you definitely have an edge to them um and you know we got to make we got to make sure it's all the little things that we're in uh that we're in position to be able to execute come come Monday night but you know I thought the guys came out with the right intent how you feel did you feel like in the game there was enough emotions uh you know I mean ultimately I mean I I'm I want to feeless play and and you know with with everything that we do uh I thought there was there was moments there was flashes of it but you know it wasn't consistent enough you know throughout the course of the game for the the standard of how we you know you know set a you know a standard around here for what it needs to look like what it needs to feel like and um you obviously it was uh you something we talk about wanting to be able to control the game we talk about you know you wanting to run the footballs be able to stop the run um you know just that you know the the way that we finish everything that we do I mean we want to be in a dominant position and there were times that we were not so that's something you got to continue to to develop um it was something that you know to be honest with you I was I was you know surprised that that you showed up at moments but uh you know you just you come out you go to work and you know we got to bring intensity to all all things that we're doing and that's that's that's our focus and continuing to work to get better how do you do about chaming intensity I find that balance to prod yeah no I mean it's uh you know there's this is an emotional game and you got to bring emotion but you got to bring discipline with it and that's you know my message to the team afterwards um is you you can have all the emotion in the world but if you're a sloppy football player you're going to get a sloppy result and you know it's about having discipline it's about you know where is that intensity going where is that being channeled uh so that you can showcase all of your uh you know fundamentals all of your Technique and which will showcase all of your power and that's that's one area that you know I thought I saw some guys had great intensity today but there were some sloppy moments uh you and how that needed to and how that got put on display so it's uh um just another opportunity for us to to work and go get better well I mean you Tre Sean's a great back you know obviously um you got a lot of respect for him and the player and the person um you know just we got a we've got a great sense of uh you know I guess his running style and and I mean he's he's a really good back so we know we got our hands uh our hands full um you know him uh you know Thomas castalano as a quarterback is is a is a great threat you know arm leg all the all the things that he uh that he possesses you know we're going to have to take uh you know you got to be accountable to all of them and you they got a couple you you transfer receivers that have come in you know a couple guys that have been there that you this is it's an offense that's has you know plenty of threats they really big up front so um you know for us it's just you know it's focus on doing our job making sure that uh we correct some of the things that showed up there a week away a week ago and uh it go get better I don't know what we've asked you about him yet BJ Gibson how's BJ is really coming along um he's learning you know and it's there's a I mean it's a process that you know a lot of guys you know get to get to work through uh but I'm really proud of him and you know I think that he showed you know a lot of flashes you know throughout the throughout practice um you know he's still learning you certain you know certain parts of it you know U BJ he's done so much in his in his career you playing every sport you know obviously great baseball player and all the things that he's doing it's just you know some of the you continuing to develop and and grow some of those finer details uh but uh but I love I love what I'm seeing from them um you I think you know all three of those you know young receivers have showed great flashes um all four of them uh you know that um that we have and that U and U so I'm excited about where those guys can can go and continue to to to develop and what they can become some of the celebrations they have for some of the offensive plays do you like to see that or do you yeah I mean you want to see guys you know excited for each other I mean it's you know you talk about um you talk about you know bringing an edge and you know this is uh it's an emotional game so you know you got emotions you know you know obviously you have there's emotional and sometimes it doesn't work out for you and you know obviously I want it to be emotional when it does and you know affirming a good job and it's players coaches everybody involved and that's that's a big part of um you know what we want to be about is you know when you see it done done the right way and make sure make sure those guys you know they should feel you too and whether it's your teammates whether it's your coaches uh everybody involved so I thought there was there's some there's some good moments of celebration on both sides and some good moments of Challenge on both sides with the reduced capacity in the stadium what's your expectation for the atmosphere on Monday night oh man I'm excited to be back in do uh you know a sellout crowd I mean it's going to be it's going to be rocking and you know we know we got some some construction that's going on but uh I'm not I'm not worried about what the atmosphere is going to be and our our fan base uh you know it's it's really special and uh it it'll still be rocking talks about the defensive line this week KN that they got some this Saturday this Monday thoughts about how they uh yeah I mean you know that's a that's a group that's um it's got to be it's got to be one of our uh um one of our top groups and you know they they understand there there's some things that showed up um you know a week to go that that wasn't to our standard and where we got to be better we got to grow and we got to go and and perform in the moment and so um a lot of things I've talked about already it's it's your contributing factors to that you know just playing with the technique fundamentals Trust In Your Eyes trust in you all the things that you've done to put yourself in that position and be able to go go execute in a
