Michigan State vs FAU reaction. Mistakes were made

all right what's up everyone this is Beni with this that and the other where we talk about Detroit and Michigan State Sports just got done watching the Michigan State FAU game get into that in a second first thing I want to do is just acknowledge that I have been gone out of your life for about four years almost I know what you're probably thinking you're probably thinking uh you know you can't you can't walk back into my life after being gone for 4 years you know and I I understand that I totally do um but if you if you like Michigan State football and uh you value my opinion then might not be a bad idea to keep watching because I'm going to try to upload again um now that I basically have my school degree done um I'm uh just to give you guys an idea of when the last video I made was the head coach for Michigan state was Mel Tucker and Matt Patricia had just got been fired from the Lions and obviously man I can't believe I haven't covered the lions at all because it's been an amazing you know it's been it's been incredible to see what they've been able to do um it's like nothing we've ever seen before and uh I really want to get into them at a later point so I apologize that this is actually what I'm starting out with in terms of coming back to you guys and making a video um but yeah I did just want to acknowledge that the elephant in the room it has been a minute since I made a video and uh you know first night of Jonathan Smith the Jonathan Smith I at at Michigan State today and uh it was uh it was not good um don't get me wrong there were some positives to take out of it as there are with just about any football game um but uh you know that's not something that I am you know let's just say I'm not feeling super good about Michigan State right now um we did get the win um despite their best efforts to throw the game away um and I got kind of a list I'm going to basically read off of because I had a lot of thoughts on this game now this guy cam faner really pissed me off in this game uh with the way he was sliding and uh you know making all our players get these late hits I I know if you guys watch the game we're all on the same page with this one I think I think we're all probably pissed off at that guy and uh obviously we don't want him get to get injured but uh I don't know I think sooner or later he's going to he's tempting fate I think honestly sooner or later he's going to he's going to take a shot and I don't think it's going to be pretty um Malik Spencer got caught on one of those and that was you know those were horrible calls for the most part um I actually there was uh Jordan Hall had the first one and that one was not nearly as mik Spencer was a little bit understandable but still this cam faner guy yeah I think is a [ __ ] um and again I don't hope for injuries but man that guy he was a pain in the ass to watch um the way he was you know ducking all these guy uh the way he was um sliding really late you know trying to draw the defender to get him you know in a compromising position basically so I didn't appreciate that um and uh like I said not not rooting for an injury for him but I think that he will get injured if he keeps playing the way that he did tonight um offensively not very good uh again like I said they did move the ball but uh Aiden Charles I believe was 10 out of 24 at least two interceptions and uh I believe he might had a fumble as well the offense you know I think I actually am going to pull up the stats here um yeah 10 out of 24 two interceptions um I don't know if I can find information on fumbles but there was one excuse me one by Aiden um two interceptions lost they did lose one fumble so three three turnovers today that's not great [Music] um you know third down effici efficiency was not good three out of 13 um 15 first downs Fu actually had them beat in that category total offense 293 yards uh this uh KRON Lynch Adams had a very nice long run and that was probably the play of the game Nathan Carter I thought he did a good job uh his you know his yards weren't great 19 carries for 48 yards but I was pretty impressed the way he was how resilient he was um not a lot else that I can say positive about the offense like I said they moved the ball to their credit but didn't inspire me whatsoever um and uh Aiden Charles I don't know all I can say is I think Aiden Charles has a lot of work to do um he was not accurate today whatsoever a lot of those um a lot of a lot of those balls were not thrown well and uh it cost them in a lot of key third down situations [Music] um so Aiden Charles I mean we have to have a discussion about him at some point it's it is only the first game I understand that but uh I've been hearing about this guy Tommy Schuster he's their backup now he's from North Dakota uh one of the one of those programs it was a uh one of those D2 programs or maybe it was a onea I can't remember but Extreme extremely talented uh quarterback he was extremely accurate throwing almost 70% um it his you know at his uh uh again wherever that college was in North Dakota that he went North Dakota State no disrespect whatsoever if you're a North Dakota State fan or wherever he went I just can't think of it at the moment but um what do you you know do you uh do you start thinking about Tommy Shuster honestly I mean it might be uh might be worth thinking about especially for this Maryland game you know maybe you uh maybe you interchange a little bit like they did last year with Oregon State of course you know you had um uh ouang is the guy who I apologize for that pronunciation um for Oregon State who was the starter um and Iden child excuse me 11 o' um you know Aiden Charles did get some time but he wasn't the starter you know this Tommy Schuster if he's more accurate which Aiden Childs like I said this game he was not accurate and he doesn't have to be super accurate but um you know he can't be uh he can't be missing guys like he did today um today was I don't want to call it embarrassing but it was you know it was uh it was a little bit concerning for Aiden Charles you know he did make some plays with his feet um and like this whole thing is not on him whatsoever um and I I'm uh a little bit wondering I don't know if I should cover this later or not but um I apologize for this um let's just move forward betting advice so I took the over uh I took Michigan State covering the 14 point spread and I lost um luckily I'm not going to lose my house I don't bet exorbitant amount of amounts of money uh I kind of treat betting like the stock market if I'm going to make a bet I'm going to bet like less than 10% of my total whatever I have um which I don't have a whole lot anyways in in the you know invested into the whole betting thing the whole uh sports book thing but my betting advice don't uh bet on teams that you like if you can help it because 99% of the time you're betting on a motion you thinking of yourself my team's on the come up we can win this game so if you're going to bet on a game bet on a game where you actually have to get out and research or you just have a really good gut feeling about um I wouldn't bet on a team that you like and I I could have told you that before tonight's video so I knew the mistake I was walking into when I made it I also bet on Michigan state to uh go over 4 and A2 wins so I don't know after tonight some uh there's some doubt there's no doubt about that about that bat because again not I'm not I'm I'm not going to try to be negative well I I I have to call it what it is it was just it was a this was a this was quite an embarrassment um for Michigan State um obviously um you know you lose you you win a game by less than a touchdown to FAU you know that is embarrassing by definition they had lots of opportunities and they have a lot of things they can correct to where this game might have been this easily could have been a three touchdown win for for Michigan State I think you know with all the mistakes they made double digit you know multi maybe 17 points somewhere in there so it's not like [Music] um I I can see the talent there I really can in a lot of areas but I just hope that these guys get developed because whether it's MSU basketball or the late de Antonio years the players just don't seem like they improve and that's something that can't happen obviously Jonathan Smith he's known for developing Talent so if this is how it has to be I guess it is what it is but this this was just kind of a icky taste to begin the season with um an advice for Jonathan Smith if you're at home your first game as Mar head coach your very first game things aren't quite going as to plan to I hate how I Stumble over my words but things aren't going to the to the way you plan them to be you're up by six you're just outside of the Red Zone whatever and you could easily go up two possessions with a field goal and it's Midway through the fourth quarter take the field goal that was that was a horrible decision by Jonathan Smith to not kick the field goal there and go for it on fourth and one um I don't think anyone's going to disagree with me on that I mean you go up 19 to 10 you can breathe a s relief versus giving them the ball and now they got a chance to go ahead late in the fourth quarter I mean come on that was an awful decision again I'm not uh not coming after Jonathan Smith haven't lost any respect for him but that was one of the worst calls I've ever seen um and and I can't I can't sugarcoat it any more than that um positives there was some positives in this game and this is actually a big positive no injuries no major injuries that I saw how many games have we had uh let's whether you talking about uh now now that I'm putting being put on the spot um you had [Music] um you had um Darius snow with the injury a couple years ago a bad injury and then you had the safety and I apologize I can't remember remember you guys will remember who I'm talking about um but he was you know he was there he was there for a long time great safety and they lost him for a few games in the in the fir very first game um try to remember that was last year the year before but um you know we've had we've definitely had some scares in these opening games injury-wise and uh that's the one that comes to mind more than any but uh yeah honestly no injuries is a positive and um offense did move the ball you know again you can see the talent there you can see um you know if you think about like de Antonio's offense where offense was just stuck in the mud they couldn't run they couldn't pass I wouldn't necessarily say that's what happened tonight offense moved the ball you talk about that interception in the Red Zone the fumble deep into FAU territory those are just another off the top of my head you know the turnovers the turnover costly turnovers um that was a you know those are those are fixable um it's hard to fix an offense that you know you know an offense that is just stuck and I don't think that's what's going on here it was a bad game certainly not what you want to see but I think with these kind of things I do think it's not you know it's not right to completely you know you can't completely lose all hope for your offense in this situation I do think that there's uh there's an opportunity for them to get a lot better and uh that's going to have to happen obviously again might want to take a look at Tommy Sher um and again none of this and none of the things that I say are personal for any of the players so this is not me attacking them as people whatsoever this is just me calling balls and Strikes um the defense I haven't talked about the defense but I was lowkey pretty impressed with how the defense played today again it is just FAU and even with a mobile quarterback I've seen them struggle Mo mightily with the mo mobile quarterback and the way they handled it today was actually better than I've seen in a lot of the times past in my opinion um and like I yeah I was very impressed with that defense um they were put in a tough situation late in the game again by Jonathan Smith um again and then you had that one drive late where they passed it twice um not allowing the clock to move you know so they gave uh Fu a lot of opportunities late in the game and the defense came through and uh I was not I was half expecting that that last Drive was going to go in the end zone for FAU so I do have to give the defense some credit there the 60- yard touchdown run by um Lynch Adams was really nice unless I'm butchering his name I think that's his name um and I'm tired I apologize uh the negatives were obviously the turnovers we talked about the turnovers eight child you know it's just a bad first impression is all it is right now um the offensive line I wasn't very impressed with um how many times they run on first down right up the middle loss of a yard um there was times where they were able to make holes but for the most part I was pretty unimpressed with their offensive line and um you know you got your quarterback your offensive line those are two very important positions to that you don't want to have uh that be your issue especially especially you know you got a Jonathan Smith and Aiden Charles who were together at Oregon State a lot of those pieces like uh Tanner Miller Jack Ving um who's a great tight end that they brought over um there should be a little it seems like there should be more continuity than that so you think about it I really apologize for that if you look at it from that perspective really really disappointing um want to give out a few grades here real quick uh offense defense on the um maybe the position group um offensively the quarterback Aiden childes I'll be nice and give him a c minus the running game I'd give them probably a C+ you take out that 60 yard gain and um or that 60- yard touchdown run and there wasn't a whole lot more than that there were again there they had their moments but um left a lot to be desired they WI receivers I would give I would give a B I didn't see a lot of drops mostly just overthrows to be honest I can't you know the wide receiver can't do much about that um unless I'm forgetting something um and then the penalties the penalties again were um I I I thought the did a terrible job tonight but the penalties were over the top um a lot of after the play penalties today and they just got torched with penalties so the good thing again this goes back to there are a lot of correctable things that they can do and they're going to have to correct them obviously if they want to dare I say get to a bowl game but um I am glad that they were able to sneak out of this with a win and I hope to be making more videos like this because I think there's going to be a lot to talk about with the Lions for sure and I do want to you know I do want to get back into covering Michigan State um it's been a rough few years I missed all of 2021 Kenneth Walker that magical season um the years after um the tugging incident and you know I feel bad that I missed all that um as a someone who runs a YouTube channel and that's my thing and uh I missed you know I just I got scared I guess and just ran out on you guys and I apologize and I'm asking for forgiveness so I do ask that you guys will like And subscribe be positive um in your comments I don't want any negative comments and I don't want any dislikes and I want you guys to subscribe watch the videos let me know what you think and uh because I do like interacting with people I just want to have an adult conversation about football I'm not really interested in people who are trolling or anything like that I probably won't respond if I do I'll probably just be a total [ __ ] to you so um I'm going to try not to do that but no G no no promises um I don't I've been less and less being I haven't been able to deal with stupidity a lot lately from a lot of people um that that I see on YouTube comment sections you know you keyboard Warriors out there so make sure uh if you do comment make sure that you are not being one of those people [Music] um and um I apologize it's just very late I think I've gone over I'm just trying to right now I'm just trying to make sure that I haven't defensively the [Music] dline I would have to give them an A+ um linebackers I'd give them probably a B I didn't I didn't notice any huge gaffs by them and then the secondary I'd probably have to give them an a as well [Music] um special teams I'd have to give them a B I think as well so you know there was a lot of positives offense offense is just uh wait and see that's all I can say so anyways
