Why TEXAS A&M Football COULD GO CRAZY in 2024 (Aggies Preview)

every year people were waiting for Texas A&M football to break out but ever since Jimbo Fischer was there it felt like they were sort of capped he wasn't that hard-nosed of a coach and there was always so much Scandal and nonsense going on that it felt like Texas A&M was becoming a meme luckily they brought in a hard-nosed football coach who knows how to win knows how to develop and has already been in College Station and I think Mike Elco really is going to do a lot of good work there they also have a quarterback who is real NFL potential a lot of good skilled players and I think just a lot of positive momentum and to today's video I want to preview the 2024 Texas A&M agies go through the roster talk about the schedule make a prediction and even talk about last year's team but can cover next now let's get started and preview the 2024 Texas A&M agies so going back to last year the agies ended up starting a quarterback by the name of Connor Wagman he had shown flash at the end of the 2022 season but after he ended up getting hurt he'd now be the starter and he got hurt again this year unfortunately Max Johnson and him would have to split time and then at the running back spot they had a couple of Highly recruited players such as Le'Veon Moss Ruben Owens and Amari Daniels in terms of the receiving game they had guys like Evan Stewart and annias Smith plus Noah Thomas and moose Muhammad III I was excited for all four of those players in terms of how the season went itself they ended up having a week one game against New Mexico the aies would start out ranked number 23 in the country and they would win that game 52 2 to 10 in week two they had go on the road to play against Miami and this was one of the more exciting non-conference games unfortunately A&M found themselves trailing and just could not get over the hump and then especially after that injury to Cameron kinchin A&M was flat and they lost 48 to 33 this was a big blow to Jimbo Fischer who was really expected to win that game after that they return home and play against Louisiana Monroe and they would win that game 47 to three in week four they would host Auburn and this game went as good as possible they ended up winning 27 to10 and got off to a 1 and0 start in the SEC their second game would come against Arkansas and they would also win that game pretty easily 34 to 22 as they played in Jerry's World from there they would be 4-1 going into their match up with number 11 Alabama and this game was actually super close but unfortunately they would end up losing 26 to 20 in a close Heartbreaker after that A&M would go on the road to number 19 Tennessee and they'd have a similar type of result big game against a ranked team but they would fall just a touchdown short and a 20 to3 loss to the vaes from there they would then come back home and play against South Carolina and they won this game pretty handily 30 to 17 over the Gamecock from there they then go on the road to play against number 10 Old Miss and just like those other games whenever Texas CM played a ranked team they just couldn't get it done they ended up losing 38 to 35 and it was close but they couldn't get themselves over the hump in the four biggest games they had played they just couldn't do it they then come home and play against Mississippi State who was in a downward spiral and they would would destroy them 51 to10 they then play their annual beat up game against abene Christian and going into their final match up with LSU they had an opportunity to pull off an upset and get to an 8-4 record Unfortunately they would be on the road against a high-powered offense that included Jaden Daniels Brian Thomas and the league neighbors and they would lose 42 to 30 from there they end up getting selected to play in the Texas Bowl where they would play a hot Oklahoma State team they would end up losing that game by one touchdown and lose 31-23 A&M just could not get themselves over the hump as they would end up going s- six with a 4 and four Mark in the SEC and Jimbo Fischer was fired after 10 games Elijah Robinson became the interim head coach for the remainder of the season and after that they would redo the coaching staff but there was still a lot of promise from the team Max Johnson threw for 1,400 yards with nine touchdowns and Wagman threw for 979 yards in eight touchdowns and Jaylen Henderson also got a couple opportunities to play in terms of the running game Amari Daniels led the way with 532 yards and six touchdowns Levon Moss ran for 48 four yards and five touchdowns and then Ruben Owens ran for 385 yards and three touchdowns they also had a former journeyman and David Bailey an overall the running back spot was solid but they would lack a big time player in the receiving department annias Smith lead the way with 53 catches for 795 yards and two touchdowns and then he would go off to the NFL Jade Walker had 35 catches for 590 yards and two scores and then Evan Stewart Noah Thomas and moose Muhammad also showed glimpses as Thomas had five scores Stewart had four and and Muhammad had two in terms of the defense Edan Cooper led the way with 83 tackles as a linebacker he also ended up Leading The Way with eight sacks and then Duce Harmon and Josh DeBerry each had seven pass deflections to go along with DeBry Leading The Way with two interceptions overall Texas Sanam had some star talent but at the same time there was no consistency anywhere they had three starting quarterbacks four starting running backs and five starting receivers they would definitely need to improve upon that and there was a lot to figure out they ended up making a complete coaching overhaul as they would bring in Mike Elco from Duke in his two years at the Blue Devils he had turned around their program and had a couple of monumental wins was great at recruiting and Player Development and he had previously been at Texas ANM a few years earlier so when Elco signed people were excited for this they then went out to Kansas State and hired Colin Klein to be the new offensive coordinator as he had helped revolutionize the wild cats offense rman Wiggins and Jay baitman have become the two defensive coordinators and overall I really like this year's coaching staff in terms of the players they lost edrian Cooper would become a second round pick to the Green Bay Packers defensive tackle McKinley Jackson would end up being a third round pick to the Bengals leaden Robinson and offensive guard was a fourth round pick to the Pats and then annias Smith went in the fifth round to the eagles they also lost a couple of other talented players such as Evan Stewart at wide receiver and their huge recruit Walter Nolan on the defensive line obviously there are a couple more players than that but those were the two big names that would come to mind while Texas A&M had some big time losses they also brought in plenty of talent the recruiting class at ranked number 16 in the country headlined by five-star Corner Terry busy fourstar defensive lineman dalen Evans and fourstar offensive tackle Blake Ivy their transfer class ranked number four in the country which is a reason why I think they can be competitive right away they brought in three star wide receiver from Troy and job Ray Barber grabbed fourstar transfer Dez RX from Alabama grabbed fourstar Edge rusher cashes how from Bowling Green grabbed fourstar linebacker Scooby Williams from Florida former Blue Chip recruit Jaden Hill from Florida as well fourstar Corner Donovan Sanders from calply fourstar safety from San Diego State Marcus Ratcliffe big-time Purdue defensive lineman Nick scorton and then finally Cyrus Allen a big receiver from Louisiana Tech and will Lee III a fourstar transfer from Kansas State I really like a lot of the guys they brought in as there are a lot of players who actually performed and have chips on their shoulder compared to guys who are just highly recruited who had a lot potential in terms of the actual depth chart let's go ahead and take a quick look at that at the quarterback position Connor Wagman will return and could be one of the best in the country he has an opportunity to I think play his way into the first round of the NFL draft and I predict him to have a superon Sonic type rise behind him you also have Jaylen Henderson and former Blue Chip Marcel Reed and I actually really like their quarterback room at the running back position they returned their three-headed monster from last year as Le'Veon Moss Amari Daniels and Ruben Owens All returned they were all very highly recruited and showed Glimpse last year but we really need one of them to step up and become the main back we'll have to wait and see who that is but I would say the best chance of that is Le'Veon Moss at the receiver spot I'm also really excited for them as J Walker Noah Thomas and moose muhamad thei all return and should be good J Walker might lead the team in catches but I think Noah Thomas will end up being a touchdown machine and he's already getting hype as a potential first round draft pick for his insane size and athleticism you also have guys like Cyrus Allen Mike a teas Wesley Watson Isaiah Williams and Ernest Campbell there's plenty of talent but just like the running back spot someone needs to step up and become the star in terms of the tight end Donovan Green will return and if he doesn't work out they brought in Garrett Miller from Purdue who played quite a while but the offensive line should consist of treyzon II armage Reed Adams Mark nabo Jr Cam duberry and Chase bantes there looks like there is a position battle at right tackle but other guys such as Ruben father III Derek Graham TJ Shanahan and Demetrius crownover should also have an opportunity to compete for reps I can't find a great depth chart prediction but it looks like on the defensive line Nick scorton and Shamar Turner are probably potential all-americans who have a load of potential Talent another guy to watch is Ryland Kennedy and then on the interior you'll probably have David Hicks on the edge you'll probably have a guy like cases Howell and then at linebacker you'll have torian yor and Alex Howard I also wouldn't be surprised if Scooby Johnson gets on the the field and then at corner you should have BJ Mays and Tyreek Chapel at nickel you should have Bryce Anderson and then at safety you'll have Trey Jones and Dalton Brooks again that might be wrong as a lot of what I'm looking at seems to be somewhat outdated but again I don't know either way I would say the Texas A&M offense to me is a bat plus they have a quarterback who I think has an actual high ceiling they have plenty of experienced running backs and plenty of experienced receivers and seemingly an above average offensive line the reason I don't give them an a is because they don't have anyone who's super proven but there's lots of potential and lots of opportunity how will this translate to wins and losses well in week one they're going to play at home against Notre Dame and this is one of the Premier games of the non-conference Notre Dame will have a new quarterback and Riley Leonard and a lot of people think they are somewhat overrated it's also funny because Leonard was elco's quarterback and you'll get a chance and they will get a chance to see each other on the turf my honest prediction is that Texas A&M loses by three points as I think Notre Dame's going to come in there and snatch one from the jaws of Victory that'll give them their first loss of the year before they go home and play against mcne state that game will obviously be a win and then in week three they have a challenging game on the road against Florida as many of you guys know I'm not super high on the Gators and I'm not really picking them to win a whole lot until they prove otherwise so I think A&M goes in there and wins that'll get them to two and one and they'll get the three in one after a win against Bowling Green in week four they'll play in Jerry's World against Arkansas and I'm not really that high on the Razer backs they have a new quarterback in ton green Sam pitman's on the hot seat and to me things are a little bit dysfunctional there so I say that A&M wins that game and is 4- one going into a huge match up with missou this is a former Big 12 rivalry and as you guys know I am a missou fan and in my preview I ended up picking the Tigers to win in a close one Honestly though I see this as a huge Trap game for the Tigers and I think this going to be competitive ultimately I think mizou is going to win it though and that will get A&M to their second loss of the year after that they'll go on the road to play against Mississippi State and this is also somewhat of a trap game too everyone is pretty much putting Mississippi State under the radar but Jeff lebby runs a good offense so it could be somewhat of a sneaky game for him after that they're going to return home and play against LSU and in my eyes there's no way they lose all four of the Premier home games they play so I'm actually get to St Texas A&M pulls this off I think LSU still has some question marks in my opinion and A&M I think is going to win this game and it'll be a lot of fun for Aggie's fans after that they're going to go on the road to play against South Carolina and I'm also not high on the gamec because they have a new quarterback and I don't think Shane Beamer is that creative a coach and I don't think the Gamecocks are that organized either so I think they go on the road and win that one before they then beat down on New Mexico state in ear November they then finish out the year with games against both Auburn and Texas and just like both Carolina and Arkansas I think Hugh frees has butchered the quarterback position terribly at Auburn and as long as Payton Thorne is the starting quarterback for them I don't really trust them to win a lot of games I think it will be close because it is in Jordan hair and it's hard to win in the SEC but I'm going to pick Texas A&M to win that game as well before they 8 and3 going into a massive game against Texas this will be the first time they played against the Longhorns in a long time and there's a real chance that Texas is undefeated in this game this could be one of the games of the year and honestly it wouldn't shock me if they pulled a late November upset but for the sake of the preview I'm going to say that Texas ends up going in there and wins and gets themselves to the SEC Championship after that that'll put Texas A&M at a 9 and3 record and that would be really solid for year one under Mike Elco honestly there are four games that are going to determine this team schedule and that is the four home matchups with Texas LSU missou Notre Dame it's interesting that the four hardest teams on their schedule they all play at home but I think they're going to end up going 1 and three in that stretch with a potential to go 2 and two it wouldn't shock me if they beat Notre Dame or missou it wouldn't shock me if they pulled off upsets in any of those matchups but as I said I think they go 1 and three or 2-2 I think they're most likely to beat LSU and least likely to beat Texas this obviously would not be enough to get to the college football playoff but would be a ton of momentum that being said Texas A&M has a chance to be the Cinderella team in college football this year though the road matchups aren't that terrible and they play the best teams at home there's a world in which Conor wman becomes a superstar and leads them to a ton of wins and they go 11 and one and end up going to the playoff I could see that and I could also see them really struggling and going six and six as I mean it's still not easy to go on the road and play Auburn South Carolina Mississippi State or Florida still though I believe in Mike ELO what the aies are doing and as long as they can stay healthy and certain players emerge at the skill positions they could have a huge year and Texas A&M fans should be happy with the direction they're headed in but what do
