Jets' defense confident ahead of Monday night's matchup against 49ers

I mean he's a dynamic very Dynamic player obviously as y'all seen um we all have a tremendous amount of respect for his game and how he approaches things but I mean we're just focused on how we play defense uh and how we go into a game and as long as we all do our job and and then a little more I think we'll be fine extremely important the on Lin they can all move move pretty fast uh and they they Thrive like Christian off of creating space so us as defensive end us as the alignment three Tech Tech we got to set hard edges and turning the ball back very fast to you know the rest of the defense is it motivation for you guys at all that there's so much talk of what you don't have it's right I mean I'm worried about my job you know he that's something he's handling and you know we all we all love him you know we're all waiting for him when he's ready to get here but uh we're fully confident we're about to go uh do some damage for sure the fact that it's on Monday night does that add to kind of the anticipation for you what do you think we learned from playing all those Prim Time games last year as far as I'm concerned we can play on the Tuesday morning it's going to all look the same 100% I had a lot of wasted movement off the ball in terms of pass rush a lot of times I came off the ball with no plan um no counter move if my primary didn't work so just having quick moves quick hands and uh I mean my physicality is my is my staple so being able to go after that build everything off of that you don't necessarily think that last year you got very good last year last year really kind of established yourself but you can't wait think you could be a better player than last year it was all right I not my standard what is your stand like what is your official I want to be the best Edge rusher in NFL best thing about Game of footballs you get to go prove it so that's my goal this week or this year um it's a great challenge um great opportunity for us you know open up our season you know against the worthy opponent they fought a lot of battles um gone deep into the into the playoffs obviously have been to the Super Bowl so um everything that we want to be and that we're trying to you know accomplish with our team you know they have done it so this is a great chance for us to go out there and try to play against a great opponent we you got to deal with proba the best running back uh we love it like I said it's a great opportunity um great chance for us to you know show why we one of the top linebacker courts and um good great defenses and and show that you know we have a great football team as well I know it's early but do you use games like this as a measuring stick just for you to kind of see where your team is overall is definitely going to be a measuring stick um but you know not going to love a die about the by the results um we're going to get better from the the good bad and ugly from the tape after it's over obviously um we're playing to win the game but if that's not the case we're going to look at the right things to do to get better but I'm going in you know we feel like we we both have really good teams obviously we both coached well um both both personnels know each other so it's going to be about execution um understand the situations and um making big plays getting on and off the field on third down I'm super excited man going into the season getting the season started all our hard work we put in during training camp all the hard work the coaches put in the training camp to get us to be a great team a great defense a great offense man has been unbelievable so to get a chance to put the an to the test is going to be unbelievable so what did it mean for you to be named captain Oh it's amazing man just to for the guys that see my leadership for the guys to trust me uh to be a leader to trust in my voice to trust in the things I do every single day to help lead them in the right direction and like I was telling D line man like the captain just a title man but each and every one of us have to be a captain in a certain way and a leader in a certain way because um every day not's going to be perfect but to push each other in the right direction to get this team so we want to go to is the the main goal so how much more comfortable Have We Become kind of being a vocal leader in the last couple years I've been I've been super comfortable man especially having like guys like tyon Morgan back uh CJ Mosley man is an unbelievable Captain learning from him and uh you got Aaron Rogers was one of a kind leader man just learning from these guys asking these guys question on how handle certain situation how to lead how to change different guys mindset different things like that man so having an unbelievable leadership group that we have on this team and a lot of leader veterans on this team has been unbelievable helped me a lot so I just enjoyed I enjoy playing football in itself man I enjoy playing great talent man I enjoy playing great teams in itself man no matter if it's week one or week 17 man so going against a great group of guys man that you're a huge fan of like Christian mcaffrey and Nick Bosa and all those guys on that side of the ball has been unbelievable unbelievable task and a Chanel so what what's is there one key with starting down uh just got to continue to study film continue watching and doing different things that we doing and just executing at a high level um each and every day at practice each and every day in the game in uh each and every day in the family room and different things like that and hopefully in the game we can so
