Evan Neal's Injury Woes Continue: Concerns Over Giants' Struggling Tackle

now we got another offensive lineman that got hurt it's Evan heel Evan heel again another guy always can't always hurt never can stay healthy here and he played against the Jets there for the first time in forever and said he had fun against the Jets had fun you know I I I could not believe it Point Blank guys when I heard that had fun little crazy there as Rob is here there he is here I am so we talking about Evan Neil here so Evan Neil comes into the game against the Jets plays his first game he had since the season ending angle injury he had last year and he comes out and gets injured all over again guys he gets his angle rolled on too and it's the same injury he had same ankle he injured last year guys same ankle this is a good or bad thing for you know listen I still think Evan Neil is one of those guys that I feel like what's going to happen is he's going to play his way out of New York go play somewhere else get elsewhere like the Jaguars that that well that kind of thing you've seen it this year alone Ben biston is playing good in Tampa uh Matt per is gonna be the swing tackle in Denver like you see it all the time will Hernandez is a quality starter for the Cardinals I mean guys leave the the Giants offensive lineman bust come back much better we we got to end that but so Evan Neil uh I said he rolled his ankle during the game with the Jets there and 's doing the oh no here we go again another injury same ankle he says you know about playing there he said it was great it was just fun to go out there and play football with the guys he said first of all I wasn't out with an ankle injury I was only supposed to play 20 to 25 reps and I came out on the 21st that I was in on it just so happened that I got rolled up on that last play but I got up I was fine I took a couple hops around I just kind of felt the doctor wanted to look at it just to make sure it's fine probably won't get a scin tomorrow but as far as how I'm feeling I'm okay so I don't think there's anything going on so he get injured but the doctor wanted to check me out and took me out of the game for medical reasons yeah he's trying to sugarcoat like Hey listen I was only supposed to play at most 25 snaps but minimum 20 so 21 yeah that's so bad that's that's that's Insanity that's like that's like the equivalent of any your relationship saying it's not you it's me like that's that's what he basically just did there like seriously like just own up to it like I you know like you could say point and I would had no problem if this guy went back and said listen I'm coming off an ankle injury you all know that my ankle got rolled on they didn't want to take a risk they wanted the doctor to check it out they wanted to make sure there's no issues they took me out of the game I was right about where we were going to play anyway so it's not a big deal for anybody I really should just become his PR specialist I don't know what's going on I would said flipping burgers say that yeah EV if you're listening I'm just saying boss Are For Hire to be a PR like seriously would you have not Tak what I just said a whole lot better than what he said oh 100% like he just doesn't understand how to speak to the media whatsoever I feel like and I don't think he's necessarily a bad guy I think he just lets his frustration show I think he lets his his you know disappointment in himself show um you know and you can't do that when you're talking to the New York media because they will make a mountain out of a mole hill and I'm gonna make the I gonna make it I'm gonna make a regular Hill out of a mole hill if that makes sense because it's just stupid to say like you got injured dude just admit it say I got injured they wanted I didn't think it was a big deal but they just wanted to make sure it's not a big deal then oh it's like Listen People roll their ankles walking out of getting out of bed yeah it it happens Drew I know it happens to you all the time I'm over 40 but well listen I've never rolled my ankle I have hurt my back while sleeping that I've done that I've done multiple times um but yeah he so he got his scans his scans came back clear so he also should be good to go against the Vikings in the season opener uh you know at this point he'll probably be the swing tackle at this point if you know we need him for anything kind of the sixth offensive lineman maybe comes in during you know sets where he might have extra an extra tackle like goal line situations that kind of stuff but otherwise most of what you're going to see is Evan Neil on the sidelines doing his best Jason Garrett impersonation clapping exactly it's honestly it's Prett e to be he gets his head straight because I don't I still don't think his head straight when you say that kind of stuff straight guys um well I mean we talked about this before like it's it's an ego thing like he comes out with a strong ego saying like y I'm the best I am I'm the best was best ever be like everyone thinks especially like when you're dropped that high at your position which you're at in offensive line like you been the best course yeah so you come to the NFL and you come to a struggling offensive line supposed to be the hero and you fall in your face and you roll your ankle yeah like let's be real like yeah reality H the face and he's got he's got time to bosson the NFL oh yeah no he definitely does I'm not that's what I'm saying I I do still think he'll have a a career in the NFL I just don't think his career with with New York I don't think he can deal with New York media he's probably gonna have a he's probably gonna have a career like Eli Apple we just talked about him in the last episode but I put him in Eli Apple Eli Apple's just a jerk I feel like Evan Neil is just frustrated and says stupid things because of that I feel like Eli Apple was just flat out a jerk I don't think Evan Neil's in that category well I think I think Eli Apple was a mama boy so like it was yeah well that came from there like it just mom says that special because I was was a quarterback drafted high in New York Market mom said but I do want to focus on one thing he said that I really take issue with he says it was just fun to go out there and play football with the guys guys if anybody watched the game and again we're not going to talk about the game itself really too much because it's it's honestly yeah like if you stayed awake and watched the whole thing and you don't have a podcast or or or a Giants content creator kudu is to you because you're a legit fan you're I have a podcast and I had to go rewatch the game because I had dinner plans Yeah well yeah I I rewatched it prly a second time did not yes I watched of but anyway yeah he gave up a massively bad play that was a sack to Tommy DeVito like legitimately like the guy just went right around him and was EV that that wasn't evanal on night long but still you made you got 21 snaps he said in the quote 21 snaps of those 21 snaps you gave up a sack that's not so good that's not that's that's not very good like yeah no that's very bad like that means you're probably giving like two three up a game at that rate that's not a good ratio you should not be I had fun watching my quarterback get smashed to the ground as the guy went past me like I I'm sorry I just have issues with people who play this game like that and AR pissed like Evan Neil I'm sorry like I get it he's coming off an injury there's definitely you know he definitely gets a little bit of of time to kind of get back into full swing of things here but dude you got to be pissed at yourself for giving up that sack you could have had every other Play Perfect you make up you make an issue like that on a play like that you can't be happy you can't be saying you're having fun so here's what he did say about it though he said I feel like I played decent I mean obviously it wasn't ultimately to up to my standard but I mean for my first game back in about a year I feel like I did well in the Run game pass protection I was okay I gave up the one sack took a bad angle but I haven't had the opportunity to take many live reps up to this point so just getting just kind of getting back into the game you should not be brushing it off dude no like that's an issue guys if you don't see that's an issue and I get there's different personality types don't get me wrong there are different personality types and different people have different reactions based on their personality types this is a scenario that if you don't get pissed at yourself and hold yourself to the standard that you're pissed off at yourself for doing that I'm sorry there's something mentally not there that needs to be there for you to excel in this league Point Blank I mean and that's an anything you do in life guys like if you don't if you don't go like make a mistake and I'm not saying beat the hell of yourself like I'm not saying that but you should be pissed at yourself to a certain degree and I don't I don't hear that I feel like I played decent even though I gave up almost 5% of the snaps as the sack yeah when your job is not to let up sacks yeah because one in 20 is 5% so it's not difficult to say that one and 21 is you know four and change and almost 21 almost 20% there so yeah that's that's not good guys so you know I want to continue having faith in in Evan Neil as I've wanted to continue forever but you all know if you watch or listen that I've kind of given up on him I want to speak for you Rob on that but I've given up on him and given up on him a long time ago this just cements the fact that yeah I'm just done just done like see if we can get up out of as a bench player for the next couple years because he's not going anywhere for cap reasons but the second you can like honestly make you know if we got to make him a post June 6 cut off or June 1st cuto off at that point next year split the cap and call it a day like maybe that's what we do I'm just I'm done I'm just absolutely done like this is this has been a guy that's it's not been good for the New York Market he's not been good for and for New York Giants has not been good for Daniel Jones or any other quarterback that's been sitting behind him he's not been good for his fellow offensive Live members because the the line is only as strong as its weakest link and he's been and I hate to bash him like it but he's been the weakest link the whole time yes you are the weakest link yeah you are yeah super British weakest think now I did look it up so apparently next year by the way we can't cut him no matter what we get no savings even if it's post June 1st the only way to save some money is to trade him if we trade him even pre June first we save $4 million so I don't know about y'all but I'm willing to negotiate for a seventh round pick like that might be the route we go next year that might be the route I think somebody I it's like we put seven round pick up in our right tackle yeah I I got to stop giving up on a guy that's going to be on the Ross this year though I got to like like I feel like there's a fine line between not expecting good things but still hoping for good things you know and we we we got to ride that line because he's still a giant he's gonna be a giant like I don't want to be go that Nega I'm just I'm there mentally and I'm trying to stop myself I'm trying to stop myself he's definitely my least favorite giant yeah yeah see that's I'm saying that's sad when you're saying that if you like that clip
