Maxim Baldry | The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 | Mr. Bean as a regal elf?

Congratulations again. Thank you. I'm going to start with some trivia, which had only just found out. You are the kid in Mr. Bean's Holiday, right? Well, I did not know this. So if he can't hear about that. Sorry. I don't care about this, I care. I love this Mr. Bean. I don't care about this. Yeah, that's that's where it all started. And this is a great way to, And this is where we are now. Where we are now. Now. Gracious. How did you find that experience, Mr. Bean? Yeah. Phenomenal. Yeah. Learned largely. That was the sort of job that I had no idea what I was doing. And then I still don't really know what I'm doing. So I don't know whether you ever really kind of learn this thing. It's just something you sort of, temporarily working on rehearsing, and then. Yeah. I tell all the rings. I mean, it's I can imagine it's been a crazy couple of years in between doing season one and season two and fan reactions and all the stuff in between. How have you found that part of the process been a little bit detached before you you go back in? I mean, I've, I've never done a second season of a show before. I've always done like a limited series or just sort of standalone sort of pieces of work. So for me, that's been a real privilege of being able to play, a character in a for a long period of time. And I've got to like, sit with the characters subconsciously, kind of soaked in. So season two has been really interesting to sort of get into. And I just had like a lot of strong opinions about the character now. And from like to the showrunners, I'm like, no, no, no, he would do this, he would do this. And they've been very responsive. So this, this whole experience to be very collaborative, which is a blessing for an actor. How is the the kind of like you said about the character, about learning him and then kind of having those opinions of, of saying he would do this and do that, has that, has that come over time after season one, in between when you've been thinking about I'm thinking, oh yeah. So it just sort of ownership over it? Yeah, a little bit. Yeah. And I just yeah, I just do a lot of research and sometimes I just pick up an idea and, and I go, wow, okay. That's interesting that I was reading Camu and the Rebel and I just thought, wow. Like combines sort of description of rebellion is, is something that I kind of want to put into a shield or because rebelliousness is, is a strange is a strange form of love. Is what camp kind of describes as. And I just thought, wow, well, Sealed Waters is a rebel in a way, but he does it out of a form of love in some capacity, and I kind of put that into it because it's not as dark. There's something sort of hopeful about that. And then in a way, I feel like that's very Tolkeinian as well, because the stories in Tolkien always about the underdog, you know, overcoming obstacles, overcoming the big man, overcoming someone who wants to kind of put him down and that sort of light at the end of the tunnel kind of outlook makes me sort of want to distill that into a character who kind of embodies that and I think is sealed. Who does that? Yeah, I was talking to some of the other guys, and Morfydd Clark was saying about her love of this heavy metal song that was put into the into the show is everyone's kind of, yeah, raving about it. It's I, it's fits so perfectly. I think it's sealed for the listeners to heavy metal. Yeah, yeah. Slipknot. Yeah. It's dark, it's dark and with love. Would that be your entrance music? It's. You know what I had, I, I filmed the whole season in the darkness of the night, and it was raining and cold, and I was just listening to heavy metal, and I just thought, this is so. This is so sealed like that. This to be like thunder and just rain. And I was like, yes, this is right. It's, you know, especially invasive. It's just playing a way for that heavy metal. I mean, it fits so well I can't get out of my head now. It's just. Yeah, it's just crazy. With my with my last question, I'm going to ask everybody there. So it's a nice little fun question. Is there an actor that you've worked with or that you admire that if you had the opportunity to kind of sneak them into season three, maybe under the radar as like a or or something that you've wouldn't necessarily know they're there, is there anyone that you'd like to just to sneak in there to? Well, I mean, look, we were speaking about my first work. It's got to be Rowan Atkinson somewhere in Middle-Earth. I mean, it would be phenomenal seeing him as a sort of elf. I think he could be a great elf. Yeah. Regal, very noble. Be fantastic. Let's make that happen. Yeah. I'll give him a call. Give him a call. Okay, cool. I also have to say the there's a meme, the meme, and a GIF on social media of him doing, you know, he's doing now in Mr. Beans holiday. Yeah. He's not waiting for that. Yeah. I feel like there's gotta be a Lord of the rings. Yeah, yeah. Just him just being like, yeah, and where are the Eagles? I've been waiting for days I would love to see represented. So that would be absolutely brilliant. So if you get what if you get for season three I'll take a tiny, tiny recompense. It's lovely to see you again. Thank you so much. Thank you for the pleasure. Ladies and gentlemen, you are watching. Hey, you guys. Yeah, you guys are you guys? I That's what they all say. You guys. Hey, guys.
