Minnesota Vikings preseason predictions: Nick Mullens, Will Reichard and more

purple daily is daily Vikings entertainment you just want the Vikings to win a Super Bowl before we die I will ride with this group seriously man please and away we go write this down write it down you like writing things down to write that down down you like writing things down we glitching it's stuck no I think I just double I think I double clicked it I thought it might be stuck here write that down I think we're good okay yeah welcome in the only show in America that has the stones enough the grapefruits enough the football's enough to put statistics next to our predictions it's the football and Vikings version of write that down on purple daily every Wednesday and then the OG Edition where the statistical database goes back about a decade on the Mackie and Jud podcast feed and the scor north YouTube channel before we get into how this all works the accountability session our predictions for a busy week here very busy 48 Hours 72 hours Jud if you're looking for a deep breath write that down works three Vikings or football related predictions from everybody each week they must be quantifiable those are the parameters we keep track of completion percentage and touchdowns sometime in the coming weeks and months try again if you yeah try again try again dust yourself off and try again okay let's get to the uh accountability session here gentlemen we'll start with Jud oh really nice week for w lot of green here Jud was having a hard time at the start of the season and he has uh fully dialed in with the preseason football games you said Levi Drake Rodriguez score will record at least one sack in the preseason that's the motor yep never stops never stops never stops is that the noise he makes as he's breaking through the line of scrimmage that's the noise he makes when he's sleeping that's that's the noise he makes that must be I make that noise when I sleep sometimes and I get elbowed I I have a ridiculous even want to elaborate on that in the middle of the night last night involving you you two in a dream and it caused a problem it caused a significant problem talking oh no I woke up I was having a dream it was so vivid I was sitting in the chair we were doing purple daily and Jud said that Justin Jefferson is not a system player and I took great offense to this and Mackey was defending Jud I woke up in the middle of the night so perplexed that I was having this dream wait wait you thought so Jud said he he was or wasn't a system was was not a system player okay I really don't know what that means but just you know I'm dreaming you know I got I want to like debate that right now even though it was just in a dream it's like no I don't think he I don't think he is a system player he could play in any system right maybe maybe this is where this now now foreshadow happens I I I wake up I reach over to my counter and I go to grab my water bottle I have like one of those Gatorade like squeeze water bottles that literally athletes use I use it as like basically my bottle at bed yeah that exact same thing and I grab what I think is that instead I grabbed a glass that had remnants of very small amount of melted ice and tequila and scir on it and I dumped it all over my face what all over my face at 2:30 in the morning my bed is soaked it smells like tequila I'm cleaning up my bed my wife is like what the hell is going on I said don't worry about it I am fixing it I'm throwing bed sheets or my pillow sheets into the wash I'm all flustered and pissed off I wrote and then ironically I wrote it down system player in my notes on my phone at 3:00 a.m. so I wouldn't forget to tell this story so that's how my night went about 6 hours ago wow it was awful so did did you start the wash process immediately I started the wash process with like the pillow kit she's like do you want my Kelsey was like do you want me to strip the bed and I was like no like we are not no no no no no we also leave for vacation in 2 hours that's how that was at 2:30 in this morning that was 6 hours ago was awful wow dud this reminds me have you guys seen the movie Airplane from way back in the 70s course where the guy has a drinking problem yeah and it's but it's not like an alcoholic drinking problem he literally like he can't he can't hit his mouth he years old in the theater I thought that's one of the funniest things I'd ever seen oh I bet that is a top five I saw that when in the time that it was I I think it still holds up pretty well comedically if you've seen the70s disaster airplane films and how they borrow from that it is absolutely great and Kem Abdul Jabar my dad says you try Dragon Len's ass up and down the court amazing wow okay so Declan vivid dreams arguing about Justin Jefferson pouring tequila over his head I'm surprised you thought I would say that about JJ I mean he can do whatever he wants we should do a full show debating Dean's dream hypothetical scenario y uh Jud you also said Sam darnold will start at least one preseason game for the Vikings little check down there yeah well that was well before though before we knew like that that wasn't recently right I think I said that he was like yeah like early in the process so anyway yeah I'll take full credit you said either LS seen or Andrew Booth or both won't be on the Vikings 53 man roster by week one oh one one's gone I think we're tracking for you to hit both of these but you get the point either way so three for three nice job I feel good about that feel real good all right I had four things come off the board we'll start with the bad I said darnold and McCarthy would both play in the first preseason game the first drive for darnold would result in a punt or a turnover it was a turnover on Downs might have had to get lawyer Chase involved if the second part of this uh but I said McCarthy's first drive would result in a score it did not so my guess is I would have lost this either way CU I didn't say turnover on Downs I just said turnover yeah I think yeah the spirit you you would have been violating the spirit of what you meant and you would have known it deep down and you wouldn't have been able to sleep yeah you're probably right uh I said JJ McCarthy will lead the Vikings to points on his first preseason Drive I did say KOC would win his first preseason game ever against the [Music] Raiders and this is back closer to draft time I said Jud will observe JJ McCarthy taking first team reps in team drills in his Camp notes he took a few yes indeed okay listeners had one thing come off the board Austin said koc's first preseason win would come on Saturday August 24th against the E AES Eagles oh Austin and then Dean had three things come off the board we'll start with the bad you said the exact order for Vikings quarterback to appear in that game against the Raiders would be Sam darnold JJ McCarthy and Nick Mullen you said big leg bill would make all of his field goals in preseason games needs better better uh protection up front got one block was was that a bad snap I I I saw debates on Twitter was it more of a bad I'm not snap was fine the snap was fine the offensive line just got smoked yeah um I I I think it was your guy jur Jurgens got smoked jur yeah wasn't my guy on that play well but he's Phil's guy yeah I think I think he's Beyond he's Beyond special teams at this point my guy jur I don't know why he's put in that position clearly not he didn't work he didn't work within the system clearly he's not a systems player uh Dean did say Dwight mcgn would get at least 15 snaps in the first preseason game undrafted free agent 28 snaps for old very nice very nice so with that look at this this is about this far into a season this is about as well as the collective group has performed percentage wise Dean still at 48% completions Jud up to 39.5% which in most years would be leading the pack 38% for me which is about as well as I've done this late in the season and listeners at 30% the the three of uh you you guys and the listeners are tied with three touchdowns I have one touchdown only on the season career stats Dean leads everyone 37% completions I lead everyone with 47 touchdowns let's get Cody in here guest listener predictor Cody uh are you trying to with your Adam Thelen framed Jersey are you trying to manifest something here maybe a a return to purple uh no I just thought the Jud would really like seeing Adam's name it's great to see him again your Kyle Rudolph frame Jersey you can put next oh God you you want to set me you get a Rudolph framed you know what th th if he comes back and he was the three and he's going to go into the ring really really quickly I have a far bigger problem with Kyle's um feeling about his Viking time than Adams these beefs man these J these Jud beefs with former really good Vikings players are you have a Jason zooker shery somewhere too Cody that you can like just throw on Just for ESS and Giggles as well no unfortunately it's just the Adam that's good enough that's good enough Cody I appreciate the attempt to push my buttons because it sort of works a little bit I'm a little triggered not fully triggered I love a good Jud rant thank you yes we all do so uh Cody yeah give us uh what's what's your feeling about the season here what do you JJ McCarthy down with an injury here we're waiting on more details but how do you how do you generally feel about the state of things right now with the Vikings um I'm obviously excited just because it's the beginning of the Season I'm getting ready to watch football again but ites does really suck that yeah JJ McCarthy went down it was exciting to watch him in his first preseason game I was excited to watch him in the next two and then hope that you know maybe he takes over midseason or late in the season but I'm still excited I think Sam darnold will probably have one of his best years under Kevin oconnell so I'm excited to see what Kevin can do with him um but I'm not expecting anything big this year kind of just uh um you know turnover this year and kind of head into to next season but still still excited yeah well let's get started here with our write that down predictions we'll start with Cody over to Jud Dean and then I will round it out like usual we'll make three trips around the room Cody so what's your first prediction sir fire away so I wanted to do one that would come off the B uh the board pretty soon so I'm making a preseason prediction so write this down um Kevin oconnell won his first preseason game last week I think he's going to keep that train going so we're g to beat the Browns in the pre season um this week we're going to lose to the Eagles in the SEC in the third week of the preseason but in both of those games the quarterbacks will combine for two or more total touchdowns in both of those games so beat the Browns lose to the Eagles and in both of those games the QBs will combine for two or more total touchdowns okay and that could be a passing touchdown or a rushing touchdown yeah just totally okay all right let's do it WR that down jley okay so we still don't know um how the quarterback order is going to unfold Saturday against the Browns I'm guessing Darnell does not play I don't think that you are going to play him now I got to protect him now yeah stick him in I can't believe I'm talking about putting Sam Darnell in a bubble wrap but here we are um so write this down Nick Mullins will lead at least two scoring drives on on Saturday and one will be a touchdown thrown so verbatim sniped the the prediction that I was going to make here verbatim so he will well I I didn't know if that I didn't know if your gesticulation was based on on my fine prediction being stolen from you or if you if if you were like oh that's just too big a punt but anyway yes so two scoring drives and at least one thrown uh touchdown yeah I had uh I had Mullins will lead at least two scoring drives in this preseason CU he's going to come out and I have to regroup I think you'll be I think sling for a half I think we're going to get a half and half I think we're going to get a Mullins half and a jiren hall half means he's probably pissed that they've cast him aside he's like oh after all I've done I threw for 400 yards in a game at the end of the season what what more do you want from me the good news is we can all go take a walk during the second half yeah you ask why don't you guys do vent line after preseason games well because Jaren Hall's you want to break down yeah 30 jiren Hall snaps or I love how a year ago we were genuinely excited to watch jiren hall for ress in training camp preseason and I like okay we're good on that we saw it good on that you know we're we're down enough all right dlan all right write this down uh jesuan Jones will record a touchdown against the Browns jesuan Jones he'll record a TD against the Browns write it down all right yeah he's outside chance to make the team Jud did his 53 yesterday had him had him outside he was playing in the fourth quarter in the first game I don't think so I I think he's a practice Squad guy that's yeah I think you're probably right probably makes sense write that down okay um I'll come back to the Mullen well later I I I generally agree with Jud here no you know let's do it now we'll do it now I think Nick Mullen has been sitting there being a good soldier good backup quarterback helping develop jiren Hall last year basically helping develop his replacement on the roster for two consecutive off seasons and this Saturday is going to be his chance to ball Maybe maybe even to like showcase himself in a future trade so you said two scoring drives one of them a touchdown is that what you said two scoring drives one a touchdown pass pass okay I will say I'll I'll just one up you on this because the rules are you can't make the same prediction to somebody else the same week you have to at least add something Nick Mullins will lead at least two touchdown drives screw the field goals Nick mullen's so we all get points Pay Dirt okay yep yeah if that happen well you'd have to to have a touchdown pass I mean I I could win if it's handoffs but yeah that's true that's true WR that down nick mullen's uh spite game on Saturday all right back to Cody for your second prediction all right this one's gonna be a Sam darnold bomb to to Justin Jefferson um but so in 2022 um Kevin okell's first year the total team's rushing touchdowns uh was 18 in 2023 that dropped down to seven um so write this down in the 2024 season um we'll have or the Minnesota Vikings will have 20 or more Total Team rushing touchdowns um so this would be the most ever under Kevin oconnell I'm kind of talking to this into existence where Kevin OK conell loves to to pass and throw those touchdowns but I'm hoping that um you know he's going to learn and run the ball a little more um but also I think this is a touchdown because only six teams in 2022 met this Mark yeah yeah so I pulled it up here just to see contact so you said 20 or more rushing touchdowns for the Vikings right yeah yeah they they had seven last year so this this I think this has to be a touchdown if it happens even like just the fact that only six teams in the League last year had 20 and the Vikings are coming from tied for last place this would be a touchdown for Cody yeah the the the Niners and the Lions and the dolphins all had 27 rushing touchdowns just pounding The Rock in the Red Zone I will say oconnell is from his comments at the podium so far this um this fall or this summer he is acutely aware of the fact that everyone wants him to run the ball more to the point of I think annoyed by it or I think he's slightly annoyed I mean coaches don't like to be really questioned and I think he is very well I think he would say okay we didn't have the right people to run the ball we tried last year but then we're like well still you got to run the ball more you got to find a way and so I do think we're going to yet I think we're going to see a a steady diet of attempting to run the ball so you might you know there's a million different stats and Trends you could look at analytics to determine what makes a good football team and what you could look at expected points added and you could look at dvoa and all these things if you just looked at the rushing touchdown rankings it literally tells you the story of the NFL in 20123 so this this this is the only stat you need rushing touchdowns here's the top of the list 49ers Lions Dolphins Ravens bills Eagles Rams they're missing like the Chiefs aren't in there but you get the point the bottom of the list is Vikings Jets Panthers Buccaneers who did win a playoff game uh but not considered a Super Bowl Contender Broncos Patriots so basically if you can't rush if you can't walk into the end zone with the football tucked in your arm you're probably one of the worst teams in the league and if you do it a lot you're probably one of the best team teams mhm so uh Vikings take notes write that down Jud back to you Jordan Addison will lead Vikings wide receivers in rushing attempts this season ah I don't think it'll be a ton but I think we're going to see some I mean we've seen some some stuff judge Camp notes does not go out to camp on a day daily basis to waste his time and not provide a few predictions based off of that so Jordan Addison I think is going to lead Vikings wide receivers in rushing it this season who led last oh interesting do you know who led last year Brandon Powell yeah yeah I think we're going to go with a more athletic guy this time around I do love and you know fake punts wide receiver passes nothing gets me off the couch quicker Addison's got Addison's got Addison's got the type of of body that he should like he looks like he can run the the ball Powell does too but he's smaller and he's not as strong poell had five rushing attempts yeah it's not going to be Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson each had one Jefferson's went for -2 yards I'm trying to remember what play that was yeah I think we're done yeah I think we're done with that yeah okay all right Dex write this write this down we I think we like we mentioned this uh at some point last week CU I CU I wrote I wrote it down to remember to make a prediction about it uh write this down there will be a New York Post article about Sam darnold's performance with the Vikings at some point this season so some type of column that's either praising him or complaining about him we'll know it when we see it and I I don't want this to be like a blurb in another story I'm talking a headline yes a headline and a story about s can clarify something here sure are you so I'm almost positive that for the opener against the Giants this will happen because the Vikings is the opponent are you talking about outside of that cuz like and the Jets they play the Jets in London the post covers the post covers both New York teams or did you did you have that as part of the the built in I didn't I algorithm of your prediction I I did not have that in my uh my my algorithm of the prediction good good call there I love that that's going to happen that's a slam up no yeah they they're going to cover the game yeah I get that so we could block off the week leading up and the week leading the week trailing those games I'll say this cuz the cuz the Giants games the first one the Jets games in early October right yeah it's like week four so let me let me quantify it this way there will be an article in November or December okay oh like it'll it November or de outside of that yeah cuz you're right yeah CU that is that's a it's a layup if because they're because they're playing those two New York teams so yes in November or December about his performance about him at some point we'll we'll know when we see it and I think New York Post will post like MVP odds and he'll probably make that in early December right maybe not like top three but probably fifth or sixth MVP no this is unbelievable telling you the darnold defender train there's still there's still room on the train you know what you've got darnold fever I've got the zebie Affliction after last night the zeer the so like like like like these things are taking its pandemic again it it's the it's a sports pandemic the ZB Meister I saw Mina kimes and Nate Ty were doing I just saw a clip from the Mina kimes podcast and they were they're they're both darnold Defenders they're just they they're sad about JJ McCarthy but like all of us now we get a clear Runway to see what Sam darnold looks like with great infrastructure yes I love August oh August great it's a great time I I talked to Nate at uh the Vikings practice about a week and a half ago for about an hour what a great guy he dude he almost became like two or three years ago he almost became a weekly guest on purple daily and then he got the athletic football podcast and like he's doing a bunch of stuff he's really good but he's a great he's a great guy and we were tell we we were talking about old uh Viking stories he had forgotten so so when they fired Mike his dad after the Bears game in ' 05 what they did was they waited till most of the players had left because it was immediately basically after the game and and then Lester Bagley walked through the locker room and handed out this very quickly hastily typed up press release that said we we have relieved my well the first person to get that was Nate Ty who was remember that like the ball boy that day so I'm talking to Nate at the Vikings last week or so and I said I think the last time I saw you Nate was when Bagley handed you the notes saying your dad was fired and and Nate Goes Nate go J Nate goes is that who did it he said I blacked that out he said I didn't remember I'm like it was Bagley so he didn't just like pick it up cuz I I was in the locker room and the release was like it was cuz it was being handed out there was just like Mike Ty has been fired press releases on the floor of the hallway in the locker room no I think I think Lester handed him out and he was just going through and handed him out and I think the first person they they wrote it they won that game right yeah yeah they wrote it during the game and they pass God yep and Mike it turns out Mike basically said can you know can I at least tell my family and they're like no sorry yeah sure you can pass these out to them but nated blacked it out and so I had to be the one all these years after to tell him yeah that was Bagley who gave you that press release baby gosh oh so bad write that down okay write this down let's go with a three item Browns preeing game parlay here okay we're going going for I only have one touchdown pass on the a so let's uh these three things are going to happen in the preseason game against the Browns Bo RoR with another sack or tfl mhm so Sack or tfl mhm K wangu with a 10 yard gain or more could be rushing could be passing we saw the explosiveness on display and I think he's going to get reps because Aaron Jones isn't playing and there's a good chance Ty Chandler gets like some good run this week in the joint practices and then um I'm goingon to say uh jiren Hall no no no let's do this let's do a big leg Bill big leg Bill kicks a 50 yard field goal or or longer in this game so big leg bill 50 plus yard Bo RoR Sack or tfl wongu 10 yard gain on either a run or a pass you're going for it yeah we're going for it all here okay I you I think the the 50 yard could even just be one write that down on its own but that's what I was thinking no guts no glory and write that down uh back to Cody for your third and final prediction okay you guys will have to let me know if this is a touchdown I think it's right on the edge it could go either way but write this down big leg bill will have a field goal percentage of 85% or better this season um last season about 45% so almost 50% of kickers met this Mark um but obviously he's a rookie so there's more pressure on him um so I'm just yeah I'm not sure but yeah he'll have a field goal percentage of 85% or better this season I think it's a good chunk play I don't know that it rises up to be a touchdown but that's okay it need something else like if if you if you wanted to add a 50 yard prediction of so you know like I yeah could I add he'll have 85% um or better and he'll hit a 60 plus there it is there it is craing perfectly right there you you own that prediction I like that big leg Bill Good Cody coming in Big Leg Cody I guess uh Cody since you've got this life-changing platform right now is there anyone in your life you'd like to thank that helped you get to this peak moment thk thank besides Adam th thank Adam th do it besides him um no I'd like to thank you guys um I'm up in Seattle um Phil I know you're you're comfortable with this area up here but yeah yeah uh there's not a lot of Viking um fans that I know up here so I'm pretty alone all my friends are all Seahawk fans so I deal with them every year I had to deal with them the Super Bowl year that they they oh yeah and probably my first heartbreak was when Blair Walsh missed the 27 yard I was in a room with probably 20 plus Seahawk fans and they're like they're they were congratulating me they like great game like you guys deserve it you guys played your hearts out and I just had this feeling like don't don't thank me yet cuz you never know what the Vikings and then he missed it and it was nice cuz the the room went silent they didn't start talking crap right away um because they knew the pain that I was going through so I left yeah I left that house pretty quick but yeah so I want to thank you guys for just giving me a place to go and listen to the Vikings um and I want to thank my wife obviously she puts up with me every Sunday Kind of she she's threatens every year that we're going to move the te TV into my room and I'm just going to have to sit there alone to watch because she hates watch it she's like you stress me out um but yeah so thank her for putting up with me and yeah that's about everything hey where where in Seattle area do you guys live um more like South like Ron area okay so you're you're literally living where like the Seahawks train too you're in the CU don't they train in Renton isn't that where their practice facility is yeah it's like Newcastle Renton so I'm only live like 10 15 minutes away from that so it's Belly of the Beast man oh I'm right in it yeah those by the way there is a I don't know if you if you've gone to pataski it's not kind of where it's like probably 20 minutes north of where you are but there is a Midwest and Vikings bar in uh like the Ballard area called pasis that's okay it's a blast man they pack it look it up on like so I think there's a Facebook page but um they pack that place with Vikings fans every single game and they have like a drum for skull chanting and it's wild so pasis if you're in the Washington or Seattle area whether you're Cody or somebody else good place to watch a Vikings game yeah I'll have to look it up because I have to do the school Chant by myself every game I try to get my wife to do it but she like no your wife might appreciate if you just left for like four hours to go to pis yeah yeah just take a c of pasis and maybe just she she can stay home and watch something else yeah oh yeah she would drive me to it if oh that's even better and actually here's a hotel honey why don't you stay overnight and uh cool off so just stay for the whole season yeah exactly see you Cody great work man Dallas Turner play on Saturday against the Raiders Dallas Turner will have more sacks as a rookie than denil Hunter did in 2015 context Hunter had six so you know not a ton but he had six the record for the Vikings which I originally thought about toying with but it's 11 by Keith Mard in 85 and Kevin Williams had 10 and a half in 2003 so I'm just say I'm just going to say Dallas Turner will have more than six sacks so six and a half six and a half or more y yep yep but I'm going for the he's going to he's GNA surpass with Den Neal did as a rookie so he he should he should he's going to get weekend against the Browns so write this down the Vikings will have at least 25 rushing attempts they're going to run the football a little bit more with just a couple quarterbacks playing and trying to run that clock maybe Wong wo maybe Dwayne McBride is Dwayne McBride healthy is he active have you even seen him okay played gas played yep ah no you're fine so yeah uh at least 25 team rushing attempts against the Browns write it down I actually I I love this I think it's going to be higher unofficially because the the first game part of your agenda was you want to see Sam darnold and JJ McCarthy throw passes in your offense and get used to reading defenses right well darnold might not play if he gets a bunch of work the next two days in the joint practices McCarthy's not playing so wouldn't this be a great opportunity for 3 hours to just hone your Run game even if it's your backup offensive lineman just Pound The Rock to regardless of the score 30 plus carries H football it would you know you know that's a good question though like are they gonna the this is why I wish the joint practices were here cuz like you could focus on that as well and those so it it's a good question like I don't know I honestly don't know how much do you get out of a preseason game after joint practices but I do I am willing to bet that you do get a good long look at at some of the scrubin this might be the time to make decisions on who gets kept for the practice squad too right yes like that game it'd be a great place to play guys who are like should we bother trying to keep them with the uh with the team yes yeah there's yeah this the next like four days are going to decide quite a bit in in Vikings ville all right write this down write this down final prediction of the week here so they've been working so hard emphasizing the turnover problem from last year last year the Vikings led the NFL with an 18% turnover rate which means that they turn the ball over on almost one in every five drives and you only get like eight nine or 10 drives in a game and and they're averaging like two turnovers per game basically so it was it was rough I'm going to say this the Vikings the Vikings go from the highest turnover percentage in the NFL to a top 10 lowest turnover percentage so they're going to flip they're going to flip it around and by the way for that to happen they would have to cut their turnover rate more than in half they would have to go from like 34 turnovers to something closer to 16 17 turnovers right so and I'm going turnover rate by the way so they will have a top 10 low turnover rate in the NFL this season so you're banking on Sam not throwing picks because I do think that the fumbles as we've discussed are going down like I don't think that's going to be a yep and I mean Nick Mullen came in and threw a bunch of the fumbles were a big issue now Sam darnold has been an interception happy guy but I think Kevin oconnell Kevin oconnell is able McCarthy's surgery is we're just kind of like waiting on word right the one thing I don't know about the meniscus is I don't know if there's swelling that has to subside so like if you tear the the reason why guys that tear their a CL don't have surgery until like two weeks after the fact is because they can't do the surgery until the swelling subsides meniscuses I don't know so I don't know if they're I don't know if they're waiting for something or just trying to set a Dayton doctor but I I would guess we'll find out I mean we might not find out until he actually has it too because we we've gotten that you know press release a thousand times JJ McCarthy had successful surgery to which Patrick has said I want to see unsuccessful surgery unfortunately Sharie Floyd did yeah it's and that wasn't funny they didn't they didn't send a press release saying I think they said it was Floyd has had unsuccessful surgery we are very concerned about the long-term health of his knee well we anticipate legal action being taken against us did you guys see the Star Tribune talked to a doctor today and he's quoted as saying you know like go and I did did this back in the day as well you call a doctor who's has expertise with the type of surgery the player is going to have not because he's going to operate on said player but because he knows what the procedure entails but at the end of his quote he's like said something along the lines I'm paraphrasing here of this won't be career ending to which I tweeted why would you even it's a manisa surgery why are you even like are people afraid his career is in Jeopardy yeah I mean like Shar Floyd's knee was butchered like the doctor butchered it yes if they butcher McCarthy's knee his career will end but if but I mean manisa surgery is probably the biggest dime a dozen knee procedure done and the doctor's like this won't be career ending I'm like you don't need to say and I know that that's like what one doctor said I think on behalf of Vikings fans and I've seen some people you know listing these these knee injuries to quarterback it is kind of crazy Teddy Bridgewater oh yeah 2016 Sam darnold comes in lights it up for a year they did miss the playoffs comes back the first game of the what did I say darn Brad still trying you're just desperately trying to I know Bradford comes in has a great year for the most part and then he had maybe his best game ever in week one of 2017 and then his knee disintegrates basically yeah and then Kirk Cousins comes in Achilles Y and then now this so that's that's four really significant quarterback injuries in eight years it's a Lifetime Achievement Award I just don't need need to hear like that's that's like if you're go you know if I'm go going into have some routine procedure and they're like well he shouldn't die okay thanks a lot I know I shouldn't die the routine procedure don't screw it up don't kill me please don't plant that seed in my head do we also count Dante in 2005 sure so 20 years we've had five devastating quarterback knee injuries or Achilles well wait so so the devastation Dante for sure because I mean that all that ended his time here he forced a trade and he was never the same um Teddy Bradford had a bad Bradford had bad Wheels right like we knew that yeah but you didn't think his career was going to end after week one basically right right he did start three for the Cardinal McCarthy is very frustrating and it's a continuation of frustration but I mean I don't consider this to be even near the class of like devastating this is disappointing those were in some cases I mean I will say the teddy and Dante were catastrophic yes because they altered the path of their career but Sam D no uh Sam Bradford I keep saying darn uh Bradford was only 30 years old he was 29 when the Vikings traded for him so he he still had like prime years left didn't he set the NFL completion percentage record or close to it in 2016 oh he threw a great ball he threw a great ball but I would argue that I don't think the magic of 17 necessarily takes place with Bradford really the dust sprinkled on that season it was so weird but he was a better quarterback than Cas Keenum I know but it was just such a weird they they went to Pittsburgh and lost and we're all like okay they're really screwed and then they just kept winning and winning and winning though the one thing that that team though was built on was defense really so yeah but don't you think if if if you could have going into that Philadelphia NFC Championship game Case Keenum throws a heinous interception that changed the momentum yeah Bradford doesn't throw that interception if you Peak Sam Bradford in that game I'm not sure they beat the Saints the keenom pass is a that whole thing the kingom pass was a people were saying what you know I put that joking like top 10 Vikings quarterbacks ever list out and and I had uh preseason JJ McCarthy preseason Kyle slauer was in there and people started debating the list legitimately you're like well you got you got to put Case Keenum on that list because of the miracle pass the he literally closed his eyes and just floated a pass up and it was Diggs that caught it had the wherewithal to not step out of bounds and run down the field yeah but the magic dust of like that game I don't know if Bradford I I just think they choke in that game because they did choke I don't know that what if they have like two extra touchdowns cuz Brad for is you know a better quarterback I don't know I I I think if you win 13 games get the doorstep of the NFC or excuse me of the Super Bowl I don't think we can like really nitpick who the starting quarterback was at that point and case played out of his life all season long until he didn't it was sprinkled it was dust sprinkled he turned into a pumpkin yeah no he did he did I'm just I'm just saying that that when I think of like catastropic oh my God the franchise has been altered I think of Dante and I think of Teddy Teddy more the of the complete unknown yeah and and to your greater point that this JJ McCarthy injury is not a devastating injury but it's just I mean it's but you lump it in with all these other unfortun Lifetime Achievement Award no question about it no it's disappoint it's very disappointing it is not devastating that's fair that's fair all right
