Why OREGON Football Could GO CRAZY in 2024 (Ducks Preview)

when Dan Lanning took over as head coach for the Oregon Ducks many were skeptical some thought he was too young or not experienced enough to be a head coach at a school like Oregon but pretty quickly after week one of the 2022 season he proved people wrong while they got their skulls crushed by Georgia and the Atlanta Dome ever since then Oregon football has been in a tremendous spot they've been knocking on the door of the college football playoff the last 2 years and put up double digit wins have been recruiting at a really high level and now as they go over to the Big 10 have a ton of hype for the 2024 College football season today we're to continue my preview series and talk about the 2024 organ Ducks we're to go through their roster who they lost the key players for the team and we're also going to talk about their schedule and some key story lines for the team but before we get started if you're a big fan of college football be sure to subscribe to the channel leave a like if you want to support today's video let me know what player team topic or situation I can cover next now let's get started and talk about the 20124 organ Ducks so as we always do let's first take a look at the 2023 season before we can talk about 2024 last year the Oregon Ducks had a three-headed monster in terms of their running back receiver and quarterback as they returned Bo Knicks who threw for 4,500 yards had Bucky Irving who ran for nearly 12200 yards and had their star receiver Troy Franklin who had nearly 1,400 receiving yards those three guys were great alongside B Nick's cousin TZ Johnson the Ducks had also just lost first round pick Christian Gonzalez and they beat Portland State in week 181 to7 pretty insane in week two they went on the road to play against Texas Tech and this game was actually close they ended up beating the Red Raiders by eight points and this gave them plenty of momentum they then would beat Hawaii 55 to 10 before they were matched up with the Cinderella team of the year so far number 19 Colorado if the Colorado State game didn't humble the Buffalo this game did it was an absolute blow up by halftime and the number 19 Buffalo got killed 42 to6 and the Ducks were super happy after this one after that they also beat Stanford 42 to6 before they'd have the game of the first half of the year against number seven Washington in a duel between bonick and Michael pennick this game was awesome Washington ended up having a late touchdown and the Ducks would sadly lose by three points this would be their first loss of the year after that they come back home and beat Washington State before they then go on the road and beat number 13 Utah 35 to6 at this time Oregon was still ranked number eight in the country and they were still in contention for a college football playoff spot they beat Cal 63 to9 and then they would beat USC 36 to 27 now they just had two more regular season games the first one was against Arizona State on the road and they won that one pretty easily and then in the Civil War game they beat number 16 Oregon State 31 to7 this was kind of embarrassing I think Jonathan Smith was out of the door they end up qualifying to play in the Pack 12 championship game and if they could somehow beat Washington they would likely take the Pack 12 college ball playoff bid unfortunately bonck was not able to get it done again and they would lose by three points again this time 34- 31 this was super heartbreaking but then they would qualify to play in the Fiesta Bowl where they destroyed number 23 Liberty 45 to six Oregon ended up going 12-2 with an 8-1 Mark in the Pack 12 and Washington was just their cryptonite honestly I kind of felt bad for him at this point as I said earlier bonck passed for 4500 yards with 45 touchdowns became a first round draft pick Bucky Irving blew up at the running back spot running for 1,200 yards and 11 scores Jordan James also had 11 touchdowns on the ground and then they had their two-headed monster of Troy Franklin and TZ Johnson who combined for 24 touchdowns and nearly 2500 receiving yards and terms of the defense Evan Williams led the team in tackles with 82 defensive tackle Brandon dorles had five sacks and then Kyrie Jackson L the team in interceptions with three rest in peace to him it is really sad in terms of the roster for 2024 they brought in the number four overall recruiting class which was headlined by five-star Edge rusher Elijah rushing Big Time wide receiver from St Louis Jeremiah mclen and defensive lineman from California Aiden Breeland obviously there's a ton of other fourstar and blue chip players coming in those were the top three guys you also have Gatlin bear who's one of the weirdest festar recruits ever but because he has to do his mission he will not be on campus for two more years I'll be dropping a video on him soon in terms of the transfer portal I think the Oregon Ducks did a really good job first and foremost they grabbed their two quarterbacks of the future as one they got Dylan Gabriel from Oklahoma who will start right away and then former festar recruit Dante Moore who transferred in from UCLA those two guys were huge gets and they also got pton Woodward a former four-star recruit from Alabama Derek Harmon a four-star transfer from Michigan State and then Jabar Muhammad a four-star transfer from Washington fourstar transfer Jamari Caldwell from Houston's also a huge get Matthew Bedford had plenty of experience after starting a couple games in Indiana on the offensive line and then honestly my favorite transfer they got is Evan Stewart he was a f-star recruit coming out of high school and has shown flashes of Brilliance for Texas A&M so far but he decided to transfer to Oregon and he will be the number one receiver option in my eyes despite them bringing back TZ Johnson as I now say in all my previews I am not a DieHard organ fan so I do not know the nitty-gritty of the roster but we're going to talk about the top players at each position and try to do a quick Roundup here so at the quarterback spot they'll have their 6year quarterback and Dylan Gabriel who spent time with both UCF and Oklahoma and right now is probably projected as a top three quarterback in the Big 10 and someone who will probably go off to the NFL I'm not quite sure how he's going to do this year as I've never been that high on Gabriel but I think he's fine and I think he'll get the job done for Oregon behind him you have Dante Moore who as I said was a former five- star and then behind that you have Austin novad who was a late Rising four star in the class of 23 and then Luke Moga an underrated Three Star Quarterback who will be a freshman this year at the running back spot they lost Bucky Irving but they bring back Jordan James who many believe could be as good or better than him right away you also have Noah Winnington who's a fifth year player and then you have Jaden Lamar and Deon rigs at the tight end position you'll have Justin Herbert's little brother and Patrick Herbert and then you also have Terence Ferguson who I think is has been there for quite some time the wide receiver spot I'm actually really looking forward to as the starters will likely be Tre sea Holden the former Bama transfer Evan Stewart the A&M transfer and then TZ Johnson and then behind that you have some really loaded players Jeremiah mlen should be a backup and he was a really highly recruited freshman you'll have Jan dicki who was a five-star recruit in the class of 2023 and then you'll have Gary Bryant who is also a former five-star recruit I'm really excited for that receiving room and the Oregon offense should be a lot of fun in terms of the offensive line at left tackle it should be Josh connly Jr at left guard it should be Marcus Harper II at center it's going to be a s name that I'm not even going to try to pronounce and then at Right Guard you'll have Matthew Bedford and at right tackle you'll have a Johnny Cornelius who is that huge transfer from Rhode Island last year and terms of the defensive side of the ball at defensive end you have former five-star recruit Jordan Burch at nose tackle you have Jamari Caldwell at defensive tackle you have Keon wear Hudson and then at the four linebacker spots you'll have mattio ouanga DJ's brother you'll have Justin Jacobs Jeffrey Bosa and am Marion Winston a corner you'll have Washington transfer Jabar Muhammad and backing up him will be former Blue Chip recruit Dante Manning and then at the safety spots you'll have taim Johnson and Kobe Savage and then finally the other Corner Spot will be cam Alexander and the nickel spot will be Brandon Johnson again I hope I didn't butcher that too much but based on everything I've read that seems to be the consensus dep chart it also looks like Gary Bryant and TZ Johnson will be the guys who are returning kicks and punts and I'm actually really excited for this Oregon offense again I don't know if Dylan Gabriel is the best player in the world but I think he'll get the job done also as a side note I'm really intrigued to see what's going to happen between Austin Nova said and Dante Moore in 2025 and again in all likelihood Nova said probably ends up transferring away but I was really high on him coming out of high school now we get to the part that everybody's been waiting for the schedule in week one the organ Ducks will play against the Idaho vandals they are the former FBS team that fell to the FCS but in my eyes they're actually one of the better FCS programs this year here that doesn't really matter though as orgam will completely dominate them by halftime but I guess I'm going to give Idaho a little bit of a shout out there and week two they're going to play against Boise State and in the past I would have called this a trap game but the Broncos seem to be in a very interesting spot as a program and kind of very disorganized what'll be interesting is that Malachi Nelson will probably be the starting quarterback for the Broncos but again that's not really going to matter either and Oregon wins that game very easily in week three we have an interesting matchup as Oregon state is no longer a power five team and this is no longer in the last week of November but they will go on the road to play against the Beavers I'm not really sure what to make of this team or what to make of this game I don't really have any reason to believe that organ will win but maybe Oregon state will be so unbelievably mad at everything that went on that they put up a fight again though I wouldn't put money on that so we're going to say that organ gets to 3 and0 after that they go on the road to play against UCLA this is also a game I'm not really that excited for UCLA has a new head coach and I'm not really sure what's going on with them either they lost a lot of their talent and I think Oregon wins this game very easily well those first four matchups are kind of intriguing I don't think any of them are really going to be that close and I wouldn't say the month of October gets that much more exciting for them they get Michigan State at home in early October and while I like Aiden Charles and I like Jonathan Smith I don't think Michigan state will be ready for a game like this in year one I expect Sparty to win six or seven games but not be at the level where they can compete with Oregon right away I think that's an easy win for the Ducks and then after that we have a very fun game they get to host Ohio State at home and we got robbed of this during 2020 we will finally get to see it happen and this could be one of the games of the year in college football both of these teams should be undefeated at this time and honestly I've gone back and forth on who I'm going to pick to win this game I ultimately decideed I think Oregon's going to win by probably a touchdown I know Buckey's fans are probably going to freak out about that but I just think Oregon's going to have a really good offense and with them being at home I give them the slightest of slight advantages Ohio state did go out and get a really good roster and they were turn a ton of players they also don't really know what to make of will Howard yet that brings Oregon now to 6 and0 before they go on the road to play against Purdue Purdue is not really a team that I'm too worried about for Oregon but at the same time there was that whole joke a couple of years ago where if you're a top five team your season goes to die that's the only reason I give Purdue any sort of chance in this one but that was maybe more of a Jeff Braum thing so Purdue probably gets killed after that they get to go home and play against Illinois and it's still weird seeing that they're in the Big 10 but this game will also be over by half half time I don't think the Illinois matches up with them particularly well but then Oregon will lose their first game of the year on the road against Michigan okay so I thought Oregon was probably going to go 11 and one this year and I was debating that they would lose at home to Ohio State but ultimately I think it's more likely they lose on the road to Michigan well Michigan has some question marks at the quarterback position overall they match up really well with Oregon and are dominant at every position and for now I'm going to give Coach more the benefit of the doubt so I'm going to say Michigan wins in a close one and this is Oregon's first loss of the year after that they'll go home and play against Maryland who I am not high on at all and then they go on the road to Camp Randall and play against Wisconsin if anything this is their biggest Trap game of the year even more so than Purdue as it's hard to win at Wisconsin in general and it's also going to be hard to win when there's probably a snowstorm coming down this will be a real test to see how Oregan adjust I think Oregon ends up squeaking it out I think Wisconsin will be fine but I'm not yet sold on Luke fickle and everything going on we'll just have to wait and see with them finally they play Washington at home and as we all know R Fish is now the head coach there and this is a very different huskys team than the one we've seen the last few years they lost pretty much everything they had and there's no way that Washington wins this game Oregon is also so annoyed with these guys that I think the Ducks put on a clinic and absolutely destroy them that gives Oregon an 11-1 record and that also means they would likely qualify for the Big 10 Championship I'm not really going to go into tiebreakers as it's probably a three-way tie between Ohio State Michigan and Oregon but for the sake of it let's just say that Oregon gets into the big tension championship and even if they lose they're still making the college football playoff I'm not quite sure how far I would pick the Ducks to go but I do know they make the playoff and they'd probably be between 5 and 8 so I'd probably pick them to win one game I'm not quite sure though and a lot of this is going to depend on Dylan Gabriel well he's a good quarterback I don't necessarily think he's Elite and we'll really just have to wait and see there's also some other pieces we're going to have to watch out for but overall the three games to watch are the games on the road against Michigan home against Ohio State and Atlas Johnson those three games will determine the 2024 organ season and I see them going 2 in one the chance they could go 3-0 or 1-2 but two in1 is the most
