why the Apple event sucked

Intro this Apple event I don't know I I think it felt different than some of the events we've had in the last few years I see the sentiments online and then I see how I felt afterwards and just my thoughts about how it went and it just felt I don't know kind of boring maybe that's because everything was leaked to like a t so we knew exactly what was coming really I'm trying to think of any surprises not that many or maybe it's because the products we have are just great already so these incremental steps feel small but as I was you know thinking about this and evaluating it I wanted to see is it just me feeling that way but there's really nothing going on or is Apple really really up to something and there really is a reason why this event felt different that maybe points to Something in the future it's hard to say but I think if we look at each product that was announced we kind of see where apple is headed and it it might explain a lot okay so I think the best way to summarize how I feel about this whole event is with the airpods announcement AirPods they started off with airpods 4 and I think this is a really solid update I currently have airpods 3 and airpods Pro 2 and when I compare them to each other like for most people airpods 3 is the way to go especially for the price and that seems to be continuing even more so now that there's an option to have noise cancellation and uh transparency modes that's one of my favorite things about the airpods pro so having that on the regular version I think is a big win and I'm also interested to see how comfortable they are for me the current generation of airpods 3 they don't fit all that well but this you know hopefully they claimed is going to be more comfortable so everything that they did there I think works well the only confusing thing was that they have the two models one with ANC and one without feels like I don't know it feels like that all could have been in one product or at the very least make the one that doesn't have all those features the regular airpods 4 make those like $99 or sub $100 then then that would make more sense but at 130 bucks I don't know that's the only you know questionable thing for me but overall airpods 4 seems like a solid update and similarly with airpods Pro 2 I don't really think the hardware is lacking at all they sound excellent the battery life is fine the noise cancellation is great everything about them in terms of Hardware I think is excellent I I honestly don't know what to change about them or what I'm missing from them I mean obviously if they can always improve noise cancellation transparency mode or make them sound better those those are nice features but you know for what we have now I'm happy with it and the new uh software update that we're going to get with the hearing test and hearing aid mode I think that is so so cool personally luckily it's not something I need but also for you know being able to help block some sound when you're at a concert or say like that I think I think it's a that's a good idea and it's nice that it's coming to airpods but then we get the kind of confusing and just frustrating announcement which is airpods Max which has been years since we've seen an update and all we get is new colors and USBC granted USBC very nice to have it's airpods Macs are currently my only product that still have lightning so USBC is nice but it's not $550 nice this was this was kind of a slap in the face it did not feel good that after all these years that's all we got for airpods Max no better sound quality no better processing or chip updates no you know lossless support none of that the same old airpods mechs and with those three announcements it's kind of how it felt with the entire event like there were some really great product announcements but then there was just some things that felt not great now the watch is another area I have mixed feelings I currently wear the Apple watch Ultra the first generation Apple Watch this is my watch of choice I also have a series 7 which I use for Sleep track and just if I don't want to wear the ultra but honestly I I don't wear my watch all that often anymore because I just don't know what to use it for that much I mean I wear it when I go to the gym or do any other physical activity so I do that you know for health tracking and everything but as soon as I get home and you know go take a shower or whatever I don't put it back on and unless I'm going somewhere that requires a watch of this type I kind of just don't have a watch in fact I don't even have watch tan anymore because I just don't wear it that often so I was hoping that with this announ announcement I'll kind of be sucked back in and especially because this is the 10th Generation the 10th anniversary of the Apple watch and well kind of just is the same old thing just a small minor update now if you're coming from Series 3 to Series 6 this is going to be an excellent update and I think it actually should be something you go out and buy if you are looking for a new Apple watch because the thinner design with the bigger screen I think is going to be a subst itial difference you know when going from the series 7 to the Apple watch Ultra the screen size alone was a major difference that is noticeable and you can do more on the watch so I think you know a lot of people are going to love that and I think the addition of jet black is nice although I'm worried about how that is going to scratch if we remember back to the iPhone 7 with jet black didn't age all that well but hey that that's remained to be seen but I guess for me the disappointment with the Apple watch is not so much the hardware that we got but rather the fact that it's missing I think some critical features at least features that I would like to see to be sucked back in and want to wear this more often and this is where I think I'm kind of confused especially with the Apple watch because on one hand the hardware we got like I said great but on the other hand it feels like Apple's kind of holding back or not doing exactly what they could do now for me where I think the disappointment with the Apple watch update comes is the fact that there's no sign or no announcement that it will ever run Apple intelligence in any way shape or form we're going to be stuck to the same old Ser we've had and I'm not going to be able to use the new Siri or any of the new features in any way not even a you know tapered down way but at all that to me is a huge missed opportunity and it kind of gets me thinking of whether or not that's the initial plan because originally when we started hearing rumors of this 10th Generation watch we we heard that there was going to be a much bigger emphasis on new design and new features and that's just obviously not what we got there was rumors that the Apple watch connection system that we've had since the first generation was going to change we heard that it was going to be a significantly different design and while over time those rumors did change in morph and we ended up hearing that it was just going to be the series 10 that we did get um it seems like Apple at least started with some more ambitious plans of what this you know 10th Generation watch was going to be and I can't help but feel that maybe that still is the case but there's a reason they didn't do it with this watch and it's simply because it's not ready so think of it this way the Apple Watch series 10 we got is thinner and has a bigger screen which are rumors that we heard way back when we thought we were getting a fullon redesign so those things did happen but then on the other end there's Apple intelligence which is more of the software side which I think just makes so much sense on a wearable like this you can just lift your wrist and get all these great intelligence features I think it makes so much sense but that is not going to be ready for at least another month and even then we're probably not going to get all the features that Apple promised until months after that so here's my kind of conspiracy theory or at least hope of what apple is planning this is not rumored in any way shape or form but it just it's kind of My Hope and it's what I want Apple to do is that maybe the full redesign that they were working on along with apple intelligence support is going to be saved for maybe next year's watch because then they can really announce this huge you know next generation of Apple watch it not only looks different and functions differently from a physical perspective but also has the next generation of software that just isn't ready right now it's not even ready for the iPhone it's definitely not ready for the watch I don't know I hope that is what happens that maybe that was the plan was for it to be the series 10 and they were going to use an X like they did with the iPhone 10 and they just going do it I don't know maybe that's not true maybe there's no intentions of Apple intelligence ever coming to the watch I just hope that's not the case but for me that was that was the biggest Miss by far now on the iPhone side this is a I think fine updates if you're coming from iPhone the 15 like I am obviously don't buy a new phone I mean this thing is great I'm only going to because I like making these videos otherwise the 15 is a solid device but if you are in the market for in youone like I know some people in my personal life who have the iPhone 13 and they were asking about the 16 I say that is an excellent upgrade and you're going to see a noticeable Improvement there but this just seems like a typical s year upgrade the only difference is we've had this design since more or less the iPhone 12 so it's many generations of the same look and feel on the phone and I think that's what makes it feel a little tired and boring but besides that besides the design I do think the features we have and are getting are pretty solid I think the new camera system and the 16 Pro looks to be nice and a nice upgrade that I will use a lot of those video features I will use like 4K 120 and it's also great that I don't have to recommend certain people get the pro version of this phone because the regular 16 I think is The Sweet Spot this this is a great device that is going to have excellent cameras it's going to have that camera control button which is on both devices and now has the action button has an OLED screen sure it's only 60 HZ but that's a that's a topic for a different video I couldn't care less about that and it comes in vibrant colors so I think even though on paper it seems like a kind of boring update for the iPhone overall I think the iPhone 16 is going to sell like crazy and I think the regular iPhone 16 might be one of the best selling iPhones we've had in the last few years it's just a prediction but just you know looking at it and looking at the features and the colors and everything it's a pretty solid phone so yeah as I evaluate each product Apple talked about I understand why a lot of people myself included feel this was kind of a Miss of an event a lot of the things from the outside just look like the same old thing with a Fresh coat of paint and in some ways if you want to take the cynical route that is true but then if you dive in and just realize that the market is bigger than me or you it makes a lot of sense that Apple went this direction there are still some places where I think apple is in fact having a big Miss like with no apple Intelligence on the Apple watch and the fact that Apple intelligence just isn't ready yet that's a topic for a different video so I do think Apple you know has room to improve but in terms of what they actually announced even though wasn't all that exciting and everything was leaked you know perfectly it it's still I think a solid update and I'm excited to get my hands on all these products so stay tuned for that but yeah just a little debrief rant video about what I've been thinking on these announcements but overall I don't know I think I think Apple's doing fine
