Players Who Should Not Have Made The Bears Final Roster | Why Bears Should Sign Rick Stromberg

the Chicago Bears made their 53 man roster final yesterday we're going to take a look at that final roster and some of the players who made the final roster but in my opinion didn't deserve it we're also going to look at some of the players that the Bears could look at on the waiver wire if the Bears make it to get to do that all that plus more right after this you are now tuned in to Chicago Bears Central your number one place for all Chicago Bears news and content what's going on Bears fans welcome to another episode of Chicago Bears Central your number one spot for everything Chicago bears related I'm the host ter Hayes but more importantly you guys can follow the channel at shy Bears Central on every social media platform we happen to be on with that being said let's go ahead and get into this content for today y'all and so let's start it off the Bears have made their final 53 man roster official we went live on the channel right after the the roster was well actually we were live a little bit before because the Bears were late in releasing it but we reacted to the final 53 man roster but I want to start this off talking about some of the players that made the roster that just I feel like some players should have made it over them the first one is Dominique Robinson you guys know I'm not a big Dominique Robinson fan I know that some people are and they still believe in Dominique Robinson clearly the Bears do but I think when it comes down to it like it seems like what we're seeing from Ryan po through some of the players that are still on this roster that Ryan poles does not want to give up on players that he drafted and he wants to really give them the biggest opportunity to to show that they can make a step a leap or whatever Dominic Robinson is heading into his third year and through the first two years of his NFL season it's just it's not been much now he showed a a little initial promise there when he was used as a bench piece for that Chicago Bears team in his rookie year but then immediately after the Bears made some moves sending out Robert Quinn things like that and Dominique Robinson had to step into a starting role it was all down here for downhill for Dominique Robinson at that point so it really just comes down to we know that Dominique Robinson was a project right much like Austin Booker was labeled a project but the difference is is that Dominique Robinson is never really flashed anything that's shown that he's really made any progress right Austin Booker already from where he was in the draft combine to now when you look at some him needing or or people saying that he needed to add some of the advanced moves he's shown a little bit of that already in preseason yeah i'llbe it against not the great competition but I just look at it and I say that Austin Booker and Daniel Hardy are are much ahead of Dominique Robinson or should be on the depth chart and the fact that we're carrying six defensive ends on this roster just I don't know man I just look at it and I think the Dominique Robinson at some point you have to end the project and you have to be willing to say hey even if they go somewhere else like it's okay if they go somewhere else and they end up developing or they turning into something it's okay he was a fifth round pick you got Austin Booker in who was already shown something you got Daniel Hardy in here who's still a young player at 25 years old that has already shown you something yes only in preseason but Dominique Robinson didn't even show that so and look at Dominique Robinson and to me he's just a guy like I said that because of the lack of forward progress that he's made so far I'm just I'm kind of over Dominique Robinson the next one on the list for me is is veis Jones like I get it that veis is a player that you spent a third round pick on and thus much like with Dominique Robinson the Bears are going to get want to see any chance of him showing some of that or showing the the overall potential that they think he has because he's fast and when it comes down to it the way that I look I personally look at Dominic Robinson now is is that he's a guy I'm sorry not Dominic Robinson veis Jones now is that he's a guy who he's fast that's great he's a fast player but he has shown no skill in anything and yes I know that the people who are veis Jones supporters are going to say things like well he's the first year of learning the position yeah but he's 27 years old right and while okay let's say that he does like learn the position and is okay do you see him really ever turning into anything near a starting caliber running back no he's a specialty piece at best he's a he's a positionist player maybe if you can do that but even then he hasn't been able to hold on to the goddamn football so I look at him when I say see veis Jones and to me he's just a player that I'm just really surprised is ends up making this final roster you guys know all the way dating back to the beginning of training camp when they moved him in running back now maybe this is a different story if Ian Willer didn't tear his ACL which after seeing Hard Knocks last night prayers up to Ian Willer but overall like I just look at this and I say ah like did you really need it like you could have we'll get into players that they could have kept but like so overall I'm just looking at that when it comes down to it and uh veis Jones is definitely a player that I'm still looking at I'm just really surprised it's still on this roster and then lastly Jaylen Jones like Jaylen Jones is a player that I'm I'm like not to say that he's ever necessarily been bad right it's not like it's terrible but you have two players that you cut on this roster that I think are both better than Jaylen Jones at this point that is Greg strowman Jr and ready Stewart I think both those guys are better than what Jaylen Jones has shown us so far they have higher upsides when it comes down to it as well and I just look at that and say hey like what Jaylen like again it's not as egregious I don't think as like Dominique Robinson so I'm not trying to put it on the same level at all but I just look at this and I say like really really Jaylen Jones Jaylen Jones did he do that much to really and maybe he's had great practice one thing that I always try to say in things like this the coaching staff and the Bears they have way more data than what I will ever have right I see Thee the preseason games I don't get to see practice every single day to see what he does maybe some of the the smaller intricacies or what he picks up in the system and maybe in specialty lineups maybe in special teams I don't get to see that so you know I just get to see the results of what's on the football field in the games that I that I see and ultimately like Jaylen Jones just to me is a player that I I mean it is what it is man it it is what it is I guess another player that could as well be on the list is maybe Doug Kramer this is a guy that the Bears have been have like just been holding on to because they see something in them and I hope that it ends up working out right but you know you know maybe with Ryan Bates being hurt it opened up that door to him being there but right now Doug Kramer is a guy that to me is just like uh we'll see we'll see what happens there like I think when Ryan Bates gets off IR uh you know Doug Kramer could be off there but who are the guys that I would it's easy just to say hey who shouldn't have made this roster who are some of the guys that would have kept on this roster I already kind of alluded to him one ready Stewart ready Stewart to me is his ball Hawk potential is something that's greater than like what Jaylen Jones brings the potential of what ready Stewart is could be great now there were some initial rumors that maybe he went to the Panthers things like that that seems to not be true seems like a lot of Bears fans took that as word and it seems to to not be true but overall that's just what I came out of this with like readyy Stewart is definitely a player I would have rather have on this roster than Jaylen Jones and it's still Greg strowman Jr if we talking about Jaylen Jones making the roster Jaylen uh uh Greg strowman Jr is another one I think could have made this roster over a jayen Jones and then also we'll say say this is that um I look at it and I say Micah Baskerville another guy who's shown an ability to get takeaways and he's a guy that over Dominique Robinson I'd rather have Michael Baskerville on this team I really would rather have Michael Baskerville on this team and he's a guy that I would not be surprised if he gets picked up sooner rather than later is he a perfect guy no I'm not saying that at all but as your fifth linebacker maybe even your fourth linebacker we'll see what happens with no Su to me Michael Baskerville outperformed anything that Dominique Robinson has done different positions but just in Impact overall on the game of football Michael Baskerville has made a much better impact to me those are guys I would have loved to see stick around of course Ian Willer the fact to Travis homers on this roster I don't think Travis homers would be here if Kari blasting game didn't get put on the IR once Kari comes off that I think he's going to probably come back to this team maybe right when it comes down to it and veis Jones I you know I think he's here by the nature of um of Ean Willer tearing his ACL but we'll see what happens going forward to me this is the last kind of string for these guys both Dominique Robinson and uh veis Jones yeah you were part of the first draft class by Ryan poles but listen if you don't bring it this season and maybe you'll have your opportunities next offseason in training camp as well I think it get starts getting time to start kind of looking at other places now in also looking at other places there's one player that was waved yesterday that I hope to God the Chicago Bears consider making a uh the Bears are I think ninth on the waiver wire so if he makes it past all this I hope that the Bears really do take a look at getting uh Ricky St stomberg here this is a guy who's extremely young at 23 years old he played at Kansas he's a center he's a young Center that the Bears can e obviously I'll say this I wouldn't be mind the if the Bears wave Doug Kramer for Ricky uh strongberg to bring in here like this is a guy that I think has tremendous upside and I would love now that's if he gets past that point on waivers and we'll see there but this is a guy who who was very promising in college and I think when you're looking at some long-term depth at that Center position for the Chicago Bears I think this is a guy who the Bears should definitely take a look at he had a really good uh you know uh reputation in that Commander's locker room I think that you know the Bears like to bring in guys who have High character and you know there's some health concerns with them but if you replace a Doug Kramer with a Ricky strongberg I think that that would be a great ability to bring in somebody who's young versatile he can play center or he can play guard he's a former third round draft pick in 2023 as well that would be great quality for the Chicago Bears to go out there and get Ricky strongberg he's one of the few guys out there that I'm looking at and saying hey this is a guy I would love to see the Bears take a flyer on and bring into this roster even if it means cutting somebody who just thought that they made the final 53 man roster I would love for the Bears to go out and get this guy as a Young Center and listen if it doesn't work it's not like you're attaching long term big money to it or anything you take an opportunity a shot at him you know you're going to try to add to this offensive line over the course of next offseason if you can get a jump start in that of giving get getting a former third round pick in here who's still 23 years old and yeah he has some injury concerns but a lot of our offensive line has injury concerns right so I think that that could be really good value pickup for the Chicago Bears and I hope that they go out and get Ricky strongberg that's a guy that I would love to see in a Chicago Bears uniform get Ricky go out and get Ricky get Ricky uh you know there's some other players out there as well that the Bears could take a look at uh Jack uh uh jacqulyn Roy is I believe Jack Jack jackan Roy that's I know that sounds like a woman's name but I believe that's how you pronounce it but he's a guy that I would really uh like to see get out there he's a defensive tackle as well uh we just traded for a defensive tackle so that's probably not going to happen he's a 2023 fifth round pick he was cut from the Vikings he played 12 years in his rookie season he had eight tackles and one tackle for a loss over that time he he has a very high motor reportedly things like that and he's the type of player that Matt eao and Eric Washington do like as well he's the guy that the Bears could also take a look at to kind of show up two kind of uh positions that the Bears could could need as well another uh guy that's a center that I'm not as familiar with that I've seen out there is a player that people would like to see the Bears take a look at is Will clap this is another Center as well uh you know he played in 20123 a little bit right he's a guy who you know he he's okay he's played 65 total games 21 s over that um in and in 11 last season so not as young as like a strongberg but a guy that has some upside there as well that the Bears could take a look at but let me know what your guys' think if anything that you think of or anything that you see this final 53 man roster or any players that you see waved out there what are your takes on that how do you feel about it who are some players you like to see the Bears take a look at who do you think made this final 53 man roster that shouldn't have made it but I think overall when you look at the Bears final roster you just get listen there we we got some players players on here that we know aren't going to be here long term right we know that for sure uh you look at uh the fact that Larry borm was placed on injury reserve Jacob Martin was also placed on injury reserve uh Patrick scales could end up uh being on the on the IR as well um so you know we'll see what happens with that one um yeah we'll see what happens and so overall there's some definitely some players that could end up coming back from ir and taking spots of some guys so still look out for some of this uh this this roster to change a little bit which is something that that definitely take take a look at it as well like I said I think Jacob Martin's going to end up probably being on this team maybe they gives Dominique Robinson a little term he was placed uh Jacob Martin was placed on short-term IR to start the season so he can return in week five if he does they're going to have to open up a spot for him somewhere so we'll see that uh what comes down to that one um overall so we'll see uh what happens there overall I think that the Bears uh you know some changes are already kind of built into the roster the quarterback room the fact that we cut players like ready Stewart Greg strowman Jr that just shows you how deep our quarterback crew is and that's something that we've talked a lot about before like this is a quarterback crew that it may be the difficult the most difficult uh position group to crack the rotation in in football right now is the is the Bears quarterback group so you know definitely that no third quarterback was a little bit of a surprise for some people as well um that that you take a look at so you know the fact that you know somebody's going to end up on the practice squad but I still think it's a little surprising by some that the Bears aren't carrying a third quarterback but you know it is what it is Nathan Peter mes waved and cut so it's not anything and then I am surprised that six edges made the roster six of them montz sweat Demarcus Walker Austin Booker derell Taylor um darl Taylor uh Dominique Robinson Daniel Hardy uh Austin Booker as well all making that roster right so you know and but you know Demarcus Walker is a guy who can play inside and out there the Bears kept four interior defensive lineman but five if you count Demarcus Walker Javon Dexter Andrew billing Zack pickings Chris Williams make that final roster uh as well so with with Walker kind of being that Flex guy I guess you can say five on each right in in a lot of ways so overall I'll say that there are some surprises definitely uh in this group overall but I think that this defensive line group is going to be one to watch a lot when it comes down to it I'm glad that Daniel Hardy made this roster I'm really glad Daniel Hardy made this roster I was a little bit worried about Hardy's ability to make this roster but I'm glad that he did um especially once we saw that Dominic Robinson wasn't cut like you know it is what it is there but glad overall this bear team has talent I've seen some people complaining like I get it like ready Stewart to me definitely should have not been cut micel Baskerville shouldn't have been cut there's Easy E easy guys that we would cut ahead of those guys but this is still probably the most talented bears not probably this is the most talented Bears team that we've had in the last 5 years if not more than that this is the most talented Bears team from top to bottom that we've had as being fans of the Chicago Bears for a long time and I get it that there are of course always going to be some things that we don't agree with that's always going to happen happen as a fandom you know me veis Jones Dominique Robinson making this roster are really ones that stick out to me um that they keep getting chances but you know we'll see if they turn out maybe I could be wrong but that has now turned all eyes towards the Chicago Bears practice squad and who's going to uh who's going to make that practice squad well bearswire had a prediction of the Bears practice squad I'm going to go off their list and who they predict because I I kind of like all these guys that are that are on this list so they have number one is ready Stewart yeah he did not get picked up by the Panthers and if he does not absolutely you keep rdy Stewart on your practice squad now you do run the risk of somebody signing him from your practice squad but that's the risk that you made when you decided to not put him on the final roster but I think rdy Stewart definitely has a chance to to make the practice squad and that's if another team doesn't sound a right route to their teams next one Brendan Bates this is a guy that I think we all kind of expected to be on the practice squad yeah the Bears are going with Mercedes Lewis Cole commt Gerald ever and they're all veterans it makes sense but with Mercedes Lewis a threat to retire at the end of the season you want to keep in Bryan Bates who showed a little bit right and that you can have him maybe as your third tight end going forward especially with Shane Waldron's uh his the way he likes to run two tight end sets I think that that makes a lot of sense out there they also have Theo benedict on there now this is a guy who you know uh the eagle uh you know who suffered an injury ended up having to be cut uh no surprise there that he was cut but I do think that the you know the Bears brought him in for a reason and I do think they're going to want to try to put him on that practice squad to give him an opportunity to stick around uh to next season season and see next one Colin Johnson his understanding of the system if you do need somebody who can step in when you have some injuries things like that uh he's he'll be perfect to do that Colin Johnson um so I do think that you know him sticking around on that practice squad is a good possibility there as well Adrien cobbert the veteran right and clearly guy that Ryan poles likes a lot seeing his story on Hard Knocks really was endearing and you know I wouldn't be mad at keeping him Austin Reed I think it's it's a far gone conclusion you're going to keep one of the one of of your quarterbacks on your practice squad Austin Reed is going to be that guy uh as far as linebackers they have both michah basille and Carl Jones making this now if Micah Baskerville does not get picked up by another team and the Bears can keep on their practice squad I think that makes some sense I think you may have some injuries to the linebacking court at some point and Baskerville may get another chance there um so we'll see what happens there Carl Jones we'll see there he he he played pretty well in the times that he was able to play so keeping him around makes sense uh they also suggest John Jackson thei at wide receiver didn't get to see a whole lot of him didn't really make it uh impact on me um you know I think he did have a drop pass in there in in the preseason so it comes down what it comes down to as well there Stephen Carlson a veteran you want some veterans on your practice squad as well especially guys who have you know been around the NFL for a while they're going to help that practice squad give some uh some motivation and things like that so he's another guy that I wouldn't mind seeing stay sticking around uh Byron coward as well as another veteran piece vonte Collins as another veteran piece as well um and Cameron uh Cameron Lions as players that they all have kind of listed on there as well all those guys make sense as veterans who can stay around on your practice squad help around be in practice things like that you want veterans around they have a very young team uh as well so that makes some sense Ro T Torrance as a defensive back there we'll see and then Cameron Lions as a Long Snapper with practice scales potentially starting off the season on injury reserve they haven't made that official decision yet it makes some sense there as well so overall the Bears a lot of the people that I wanted to see the Bears hold on to and keep could end up on the Bears practice squad that's kind of the best case scenario at least for a guy that you like to end up on your team's practice squad they still get to uh you know practice with the team still get to learn the system yeah you run the risk of another team signing them away that's just the risk of the practice squad but I do think we're going to have some some of the people there that you know a lot of Bears fans wanted to see stick around I would not be surprised if they end up on that practice squad and uh yeah we'll see that what that means for them long term do they end up getting a chance of to fight for the roster spot next season or anything like that those are things that we'll continue to Monitor and watch here at Chicago Bears Central but overall just right now I'm excited that we are only a little ways away from football being played by the Chicago Bears not this Sunday but next Sunday we get to see Bears football and we get to see what this offense looks like taking the training wheels off and that is going to be an exciting thing that's going to be an exciting period to just see what this team really looks like when all things are even right once the games start mattering and that's what a lot of people are waiting for with this bear seam is how do they look when the
