Dylan Moore Speaks on the Cusp of the Finals

Dyan how how do you think the Hollywood Hawks go when it comes to September fo yeah it's the great unknown um I'm not sure yet I no one's sure just yet but all I know is that we're leaning into it um and we cannot wait for Friday night I think we've really lent on a few of the older figures like Bruce and gunson just to talk us through their routine for a Friday night game and then Guinea played finals football last year and he played three finals so we've lent on a few of those people that have already played recently and just asking them the question like what's it feel like what do we do and um I think we're all just leaning into it and it's going to be a good time and how are you feeling about your preparation and how are you treating the build up to Friday night I've tried to treat it just like any other game but it's hard with the extra break uh I feel like I'm just seeing myself playing on Friday night and um I have to keep coming back to the moment just doing the process on a dayto day and um doing everything I can to put my body and my mind in the right shape for Friday night so I'm feeling really confident and I cannot wait so we're going to see the the celebrations and the swag and all that sort of stuff that comes out Friday night yeah everything will come out I think No Matter What occasion it is whether it's 8,000 or 90,000 we're going to be um on show and yeah we're not going to change anything you've taking on more leadership roles this year are people coming to you are people leaning into you at the moment I don't think much has changed on the leadership perspective at all I think I was vice captain of the club last year Vice Captain this year and I feel like I've actually done less than this year because we've had so many more people stand up and um the inclusions of ginan and Gunston especially in the for line for me have been tremendous I think I've lent on them they've lent on me and collectively as a whole group we've all been able to just get a little bit better in leadership and that means that myself sicy Bruce have actually done less and it's worked in our favor I think in games late this year it hasn't just been one or two three people step up it's been the whole team is it a sort of a pinch be moment you know the times the club's gone through and then your your career of the crossroads in 2020 you've come through that as well yeah absolutely um I was sitting at home with Will day and scrimshaw came over and um me and scrim are pitching ourselves because we've been Hawthorn supporters our whole life and ever since we've got to the club I've been here seventh year now boxill have always gone further than Hawthorne and it's been great this year just that we're playing for football and we're like oh it's weird that this year like we're still going but we feel like we got more weeks left in us like we feel so fresh we feel like we're ready to go what's the messaging been like from Sam Mitchell since you qualified for finals he's obviously done it many times has it changed at all his messaging no it hasn't changed with six rounds to go he said we got six games left if we lose one we're out so he said we got four more games to go if we lose one we're out but let's just keep winning how do you think they'll go with the pressure of the team 9,000 plus of the G I think we'll handle it um I've got full faith in everyone full faith in in the club that everyone's going to lean into it and there'll be a lot more mistakes and what we've learned this year is that if we get angry at each other's mistakes we become worse as a side so we're going to lean into it and someone makes a mistake instead of going at them we're going to put our arm around them and I feel like we did that really well for the last six weeks and we knew at times we were getting frustrated especially in that Richmond game we were getting frustrated at each other because we're making mistakes um but then we realize if we wrap our arms around each other we're going to be better off and that's exactly what we're going to have to do this week you mentioned uh will day before have the boys sort of rallied behind him obviously he's going to be missing out yeah 100% And he's been really good to be honest his mindset is win this week so I can play the next so um he's been awesome you just share you talk about gunson and ginan Bruce sort of sharing what a Friday night looks like can you just go into some of the specifics maybe is it more about how you feeling the day and prepare for a night game CU you haven't played a whole He with them what some of those things they have shared yeah it was all around preparation so we' just been asking them what do they do for a Friday night game because I've never played a Friday night at the G I played one Friday night for my career and I can't remember what I did during the day so yeah just questions around when do you nap what do you do in the morning how do you structure your day and then a lot of us because this will be our first Finals game we're going to be thinking about it so how can you get yourself back to just what am I going to do for the day filling some time and they've been really good with that can you cast your mind back to when you were zipping five and it was bring your mouth guards and let's lock in at training is there a moment or two from that time that that sticks out as to how this sort of ship has turned yeah I've spoken about it briefly around the change rooms after the go Coast game and yeah it's pretty well publicized that um we got together as a playing group in the Chang rooms without any coaches and just said Is this where we stand as a football club is this what we want to be 0er and five not going to be playing September the last six weeks of the Year isn't going to matter is that what we want to stand for and as a collective that was the big moment I think where we all thought this isn't good enough we need to lift the stands of training but we need to lift our standards of each other and um what we want to represent and how we want to leave this football club and I think that was a massive moment for all of us where we just started to Rally around each other a little bit more expect more from each other and then we've been out to produce some good results since did you guys take a moment to to reflect on the achievement of of bouncing back from Z5 to actually make the finals or have you just been full steam oh I think the couple days post uh the north game even straight after North game was like all like we're in finals celebrate it because not many of us have been here before so we did celebrate post the game it was just in the chain was just like take a moment just to realize all right what we've achieved this year but then it's hard once everything comes out you know who you're versing to then think about the future and think about who you're going to verse in finals football so um personally I haven't reflected too much on the year besides from yeah the probably couple days post but that's football I think team with so much momentum heading in as well um do you think having that break came at the wrong time that hurt you at no we feel refreshed uh we cannot wait for Friday night I think um gave all of us just a little bit of a mental refresh for 3 Days physically uh we Fel we feel really good right now and the momentum will carry on I think
