well ASU fans will soon know what Sam levit is about on the field but it was really off the field where he was able to help separate himself in the quarterback battle and get named qb1 it all started with an official visit with Marcus aroyo that was quite the gauntlet and it seems like levit didn't blink and that started their relationship here in Tempe that's the longest recruit meeting I've ever had in one1 we had a 6-hour position meeting on an official visit and I wasn't letting him come out of the room it was when I said to myself okay this is a guy we sat in the office and you know just talk schematics and uh you know everything about quarterback play when he was in there for 6 hours and I walked in there at about an hour and I'm like sat in there then I walked in there about an hour and 45 off the field mental you know how you carry yourself as a leader uh mechanics about 3 hours then 4 hours he had like four or five other visits I think set up my only goal was to break all the visits and cancel them this kid still dialed in it matters to him like he loves this crap we actually talked as well when I first met him in person at uh at the dinner for like 2 hours of about mechanics as well so you know he's a ball junkie just like me that was my impression was let's get this kid now holy cow like we want him once he got to Tempe there was also an important conversation he had with his head coach Kenny Dillingham on how to lead that helped him get on the same page as his offense uh coming in the spring you know I just wanted it so bad that you know I just just approaching people and myself you know I was treating myself uh you know too harshly and I was you know beating myself up and then I was taking out on the team as well he doesn't just yell at people anymore and uh it's funny cuz Bo was so similar when you're a perfectionist and you want everything to be right and you care at such a high level it's really hard for you to process that person just may not care quite as much they may still really care but they may not have this obsessiveness where practice and I watch it immediately cuz I can't function if I don't Kenny had a lot of talks with me and just you know he really he really emphasized that and said that was one of the biggest uh transitions that Bo made come from Auburn to Oregon so you know I took that as a as a big role and I feel like I've done a way better job obviously still room for improvement he's really embraced that model of like channel that passion energy right and do it in one-on-one settings with certain guys and then people are going to feel your passion energy that's going to happen naturally we'll get to see levit and the sundevils for the first time on August 31st right behind me at Mountain America Stadium against Wyoming kicking off at 7:30 [Music]
