Trey Lance CRUMBLES vs Chargers

Dallas Cowboys vs Los Angeles Chargers let's go Cowboys fans I tried to tell you in our Raiders film study that the Trey Lance great performance was smok and Trey Lance mirrors because well the Vegas Raiders decided to play the absolute worst defensive scheme I've ever seen in any NFL game preseason or not and Trey Lance put together one of the worst preseason games you'll ever see we actually start with one of his best throws after hitting the check down to the running back we get to here and it looks as if the Chargers are playing middle of the field open coverage and they are running a go right here okay so if this corner sits there is room for what's called a ho shot over here you have to have a special arm to get that in and Dallas on his third and seven decides to run everything vertically with a check down here trance decides to work back to the left for the ho shot and I'm glad he didn't decide to just hit this check down right here and this is an absolutely wonderful throw all right so we get to a Trey Lance interception here and I'm going to be quite honest with you I know a lot of you are going to view me just as a Trey Lance hater this is just one of the more incredible defensive back plays you will see now once again I know it's a preseason game but on this third and three Tony Jefferson a very experienced player what do teams like to do on Third and three well they like to run this kind of roll out out when there's uh you know you INT #1 just roll out K and you just throw a quick out it's a really difficult play to stop um and it helps your protection from potential blitzers and all of that so what does his safety decide to do well he just gambles leaves his portion of the field wide the freck open and just runs to the out you see he's just sprinting from the get-go here and the corner who's responsible for the out also goes there so if Tre Lance had just waited this is a touchdown right here to Ryan floro or at least a big gain but the truth is I know it's easy to play Monday Morning Quarterback this is always the throw right it's always always always to throw this was just more a great play there's no way TR Lance can know that a safety from that far out of a two high shell sprinted as hard as he could uh to come out here and get this ball now was the ball location great no okay so that partially is on Trey Lance but sometimes dudes just make plays and this was just one of the better plays you'll see a DB make all right not a big fan of the goal line fade but this isn't on the goal line it's second and goal uh Trey Lance just Touchdown! took a sack so let's run something really quickly and God this ball location from Trey is freaking good to the upfield shoulder to where floro could catch it I love these balls that are thrown at an angle to where it's kind of a Willie maze over theh shoulder catch it's a really good catch right there from floro here we go one minute left to go we saw TR Lance make a nice scramble in the Raiders game and the uh I almost said the Vikings the Cowboys are just running four four verts and where you want to throw this football is actually the seam ball so I actually like that in middle of the field open coverage and Lance even though he does stare him down ball location is good enough uh safety who who's been picking them off all night uh was late getting over and that's just a really really really good throw all right so this third and four uh this in Breer was open uh to 84 3rd Quarter who had a good game versus the Raiders okay this is you know uh picking on the overhang Defender and Tre Lance actually starts off looking left if the overhang bites down hit the Dig right here okay so he starts off looking left doesn't like anything and there isn't anything open and I felt like he could have gone from left to right here a little bit sooner um you work back here and bang this could have been thrown uh right here it's tough to see without the safety there but Tre Lance decides to not throw it he sees a pass rush Lane being deupi and decides to run with it and that's fine right this is what Tre Lance is good at take these yards make this guy Miss and gain some extra yards right here let's see if he can make a miss and he does that is excellent stuff right there by Trey and he's still running baby and once again Tony Jefferson the Lifesaver of this defense in this game once again Trey had some ridiculous throws in this game okay third and 12 there was a hold so they brought it back and your protection breaks down pretty quickly okay right tackle gets spun on and you know the pocket is good enough throws an absolute missile and it's completed for a first down that's why Trey Lance was drafted so dagam high and you pick it the first down all right here we go play action to the right work back to the left this is a very interesting play design because you had the receivers here in a three-point stance well you had your two tight ends in a three-point stance and you're running you're just flooding this side of the field so tight end has a little delay out here this tight end is going vertical and six is De occupying or occupying the space left right here is this really nice play design and you just need try Lance to throw against his body here and man this is a really really good touch pass to six hits him right in stride so he can make a play after the catch man I I and and QB coaches feel correct uh feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in here based on the pre- snap alignment of this defense and The Leverage of this DB okay INT #2 I don't want to go over here with the DB shaded this way for running a corner here okay so he's working back or he's trying to work this in Breer here and you know if you throw it I mean that's that's just going to get batted down or tackled immediately I would have loved to have seen him start working this way to the man coverage side okay but what do I know all right because if you started this way you would have had 34 in the flats for a potential touchdown here either way Tre Lance I I don't know the progressions don't know how it's taught or anything like that resets his feet this is a good job by the pass rush to keep him in the pocket throws a football very late and does one of the biggest sins you can do as a QB which is a Red Zone interception all right so Cowboy is still only down 10 despite the Touchdown run! turnover issues and this is part of the TR Lance experience Zone read game love love love this design right here have the wide receiver come crack down on this backer so Tre can for sure get the edge the DN played the running back um you know too hard there pause hey yo pause uh there is no contain over here right the corner ran too far with the receiver and now you have this blocker coming around to get a hopeful seal and he does get enough on 20 to allow tra that's a good job by 47 to allow Trey Lance to get through there and look at this speed man that is re freaking dcus and well it's uh something to enjoy huh H all right good pre-ap recognition 4th Quarter right here by Trey Lance it is a variation of two high so you want to work the smash here to the bottom and just read the corner if the corner runs with the corner route you just hit the check down if he sits uh heavy into the flats let's see if we can hit the corner okay you're just reading that guy half a beat late if you ask me and this ball is an absolute wobbler but it gets there and you pick up a nice explosive game now this is really good football by TR Lance and good stuff from uh number 14 I think he's from Northwestern okay good football IQ to throw it to that shoulder so he to turn away from that backer and yeah that's just really good throw really good catch all right so Tre Lance gets the Jesse Minter special he's a Pick 6 really good defensive coordinator for a reason they're bringing two blitzers here and a Zone Blitzer to guard against in breakers on third down so versus the Raiders um the Cowboys converted a lot of third Downs just on Slants right the one of the best things you can do on a slant is with your more uh your your athletic defensive end have them drop back and just pick it off right because Tre Lance sees that there's two linebackers blitzing right here he's thinking any in Breer versus his man alignment is going to probably be open and the in just backs out of it and just sits right into the window and Trey apparently never saw him and that's a ridiculous play by a linebacker end and he takes it in now I do give Tre Lance credit for showing some Gusto here also 97 not cleaning out number 79 right there uh cuz that would have been a penalty and Trey Lance tries to make this tackle and obviously he's just never going to make that tackle and it's a pick six all right third and four INT #4 here Trey Lance has got to make something happen and well guess what Chargers decide to do the same thing but this time it's to this side uh they bring the backer out and it gets them yet again another interception now this is not on Trey Lance at least I don't think it is two guys get beat really badly the left guard right here versus 72 and the right tackle gets beat and watch try Lance get out of this this is really impressive stuff third down and four give ground and then just hope and pray that this ball is caught and while he's getting crushed I mean you just got to catch that or at least make this be an incompletion don't get bullied over this I don't know how much of that is on Trey Lance really at all you just need your receiver to make a play all right for brevity Tre Lance hit a nice ball to 47 to get the football down to here and now this is really good football IQ I know the Cowboys have no timeouts left okay um you know nothing is open absolutely positively nothing so well this did get open over here so yeah I mean I guess in theory this ball could have been ripped right here all right but TR Lance decides to not rip it he decides to roll out here to the left side and doesn't give up on the play that's good stuff and while he's running the corner decides to attack Tre Lance finds the running back leaking up the field and that's really good playmaking to find him okay so as many of you know cowboys at the end of fourth quarters it can get chaotic and this was just a really good job to get everyone up and just run something okay INT #5 and well you know if you're the Cowboys you just got to run all verts and hope for the best so this just isn't a bad pick actually this is there if you hit him in absolute stride and well he overshot him okay it was I mean it would have been a glimmer but he just overshot him and that's a good pick right there to seal it okay all hyperbolizing this at all I was shocked floored Bamboozled in the words of Stephen A Smith that you guys after what I showed you on film last week versus the Raiders uh the worst defenses you'll ever see any quarterback would have succeeded with what the Raiders were doing defensively I I was trying trying to tell you that Tre Lance is not it Cooper Rush should be your top backup if you want to work some Tre Lance Wildcat stuff I mean come on Dak Prescott 72 qbr was second in the NFL use any advanced statistic per EPA per dropback Dak Prescott you guys are very blessed to have him there might be might be 15 quarterbacks in the NFL who we would consider to be good you have one of them and not only has you been good he's been mostly great well Carter what about the playoffs well playoffs are small sample sizes and you just got to hope for the best so stop it you guys should look at yourself in the mirror get some help as Michael would say and I expected you to do better but I digress Dinner? it is Power Hour NFL boom I mean look at that throw huh it's sorcery absolute sorcery but you you want Trey who has barely played Lance to be your QB just cuz he can run fast good stuff huh h h
