so how do you think uh Camp is going for you so far I think it's been going good just uh focus on trying to get better each and every day uh paying attention to the details and uh glad to be out here with my guys Cedric when we talk to folks in the organization they seem to have really set the bar high for you they seem to you know expect a lot of you this year as far as s of growth goes have you felt that and just where do you think you've grown the most in your second training yeah uh you know just trying to take it one day at a time uh you know obviously year two more comfortable than year one so you know just learning on things from last year and just trying to be a better player for the organization what's some something that you've been able to do to kind of grow in that area learning The Playbook and feeling more comfortable with what you're doing out there are there steps that you've taken to try to get in a more comfortable place this year yeah I think just honestly just talking to the quarterbacks more uh talking to the older guys and you know just getting those reps uh obviously help so uh you know just you know year or two just trying to you know do better when you look back at that for the year what were you maybe most proud of and then said um I really need to work on this yeah uh for sure I think I had great effort out there you know tried everything obviously I feel like I caught the ball well and know obviously you know things can work on you know just making sure I know exactly what to do uh all the time and uh you know just uh making sure you know obviously everybody wants more separation you know but so we going to do that Mari and now Jerry Judy what's been like learning from those two guys uh it's been great uh you know those guys are Pros uh just try to pick their brains a little bit and then just try to you know watch how they practice how they go about their business so preparation wise what did you changed this year that now with with that year of you know experience and going through you know your rookie season what did you change in terms of preparation this year um like I said just trying to be more of a a professional you know what I'm saying rookie year you know you're learning stuff and not that I didn't do stuff like that last year but you know he just learned you know what I'm saying so just learning actually being in there getting those reps just feel like I'm more comfortable Ken dorsy you know come in now this to be your second offense in his many years here just what major differences have you noticed with uh you know dorsy involved and maybe last year um you know coach has been good you know he's got a game plan set you know organization does and I feel like the offense has been clicking uh so we're just going to keep on trying to capitalize so there's there's reports that the Browns could be one of the teams and on a guy like Brandon IU if you were to add a guy like that to your BR what would you um you know I'm focused on the guys in the room now uh you know focus on myself and the team so uh you know I control what I can control and you know just to follow up on that Amari has sort of involved in those room what do he meant to you as just kind of early in your career uh I me a lot like I said uh you know people don't think Amari really talks a lot um you know he talks you know but uh just kind of seeing how he goes about his day being a pro and just biggest thing how he's consistent there's this expectation and hope that we full season of DeShaun Watson for the Browns this year right for you as a receiver in this offense what excites you the most about that and what can we expect if that should happen yeah you know I'm excited uh for desan to be back out there you know obviously he got hurt unfortunately last year but uh you know he's looked good uh you know it feels like he's in the right mentality so I'm excited for him what what is jamus at that quarterback room and that offense just being around him yeah uh you know he brings that energy you know he's obviously a vet uh he knows the game really well so he doesn't mind talking to the guys uh us out so he brings a lot you're going against a you know really good secondary every day in taxes they say iron sharpens iron how much have those DBS made you a better player going through the drills on a daily basis against them uh a lot actually you know obviously I feel like we have you know some of the best DBS in the game so you know just talking to those guys uh getting tips uh you know obviously doing those Ro live reps win them definitely helps how much confidence if any do you get when you make a play like you did in get the green Bri right when Des hits you for that um go right down the sideline for the touchdown you know it's always good to score you know especially touchdowns uh you know I feel like my confidence is high but obviously you know being in that end zone is cool along the lines of there being sort of high expectations for you in year two just what are some of the things that you're sort of setting for yourself goalwise like is there certain things that you want to reach or accomplish your minds I'm just taking it day by day honestly uh kind of said earlier controlling what I control and like I said just trying to be the best player I can for this team is things intensify him in Camp you guys get a little chippy you guys talk to each other kind of hype each other up on both sides of the ball how do you feel about that and and how's that looking as his Camp continues uh you know I'm more of a relaxed personality but you know I don't mind you know talking or anything like that uh so if it comes it comes what are you hoping to get out of the upcoming preseason games as you get ready to get yourself kind of in shape and ready for yeah just uh looking forward to those reps uh like I said get more comfortable on the field and being on feel my guys how has help grow just over your season yeah I think just biggest thing like we talk about is consistency uh you know just being consistent as a receiver uh focusing on details and little things uh feel like that [Music] important thank what did you see out of Jerry his first practice there on Sunday that you know you hadn't seen to this point from them well I think it's what we really the most important is what we did see that that we really liked in him prior to him being here and that's his versatility you know he was able to function inside force and make a play uh on a choice route and then he jumped outside and was able to produce on a vertical route down the field so the versatility is one thing that obviously we knew about uh that it showed up on the field in his first few days with us and then I think that what we didn't see because you can't see on tape is his ability to function mentally uh he was able to handle a lot lot of volume uh which is great with a person of his physical skill set to match that with the ability mentally to move around and play different positions will be great benefit to to us as a team and to him personally hey Chad um there are rumors out there that the Browns might be training here for brand and I you I I'm not going to ask you about him personally but um how hard difficult is it to bring a guy in a month before the season starts and get him up to yeah my focus right now truly is on the guys that are here on this team and I'm going to say this the group that we have right now has worked so hard both in the off season and then so far in training camp of doing the things we asked them to do they've been able to really stay in the present and really work to improve every day and uh it's a a very enjoyable group that I'm working with at the Cleveland Browns sorry if you were ask us already but how have you seen s Tilman kind of tackle learning coming into this year taking some of the things he maybe struggled with a little bit last year even and apply them so he's ready for the year two yeah I feel like Cedric's really attacked the off season he's done the same here in training camp uh he's really worked so hard to again learn the offense uh to be better fundamentally uh you can see a player in year two how he's improved but that's he's improved because of how he's approached it and I can't say enough about his work ethic and what he's done to try to improve every day I mean we really have tried to put the focus with the receivers of just let's be day-to-day stay in the present and really work to improve daily and and he's a great example of that he said one of the things that he talked with you about was his consistency so how did you see him just grow in that consistency and what you guys talked about in building that yeah that was a difference in his rookie year there were some things that he did really well and then there was a lack of consistency at times but that's what he's really working hard on uh right now to be a more consistent player in all areas we asked the receivers to do so much whether it's in the Run game it's in the pass game even in some protection that we've asked said to do and I believe that he's done a great job of embracing that role and being more consistent in all those areas how about David Bell how's David coming along this year David's had a great training camp so far I mean the word that always comes with David is the word dependability he's been dependable and and various roles for us he's able to handle multiple roles for us in different ways he helps our team so I can't say enough about David Bell and and again when I say the word David Bell and his name dependability comes right with that what have you seen with um just Michael Woods obviously coming off the unforunate injury last year and him get back out having a chance to compete yeah I I see a player in Mike Michael Woods that you know had the injury uh last off season a player that's moving past the injury you know I think both physically and emotionally I think one of the things about coming back from an injury like that is not only physically you need to go out there and and have the confidence you can do it but most importantly is emotionally and mentally that you feel confident that you recover from the injury and I'm seeing that in his game uh Mike's always been somebody that has really strived both at the line of scrimmage and the top of the route his ability to separate and you're starting to see those things like we knew mighte before the injury roster but Jamari rash what have you liked from him as you've gotten to see him out on the field and get to know him as a person yeah jamar's we knew he was a very instinctive player that brought some value inside as well as outside and that's what we've seen so far uh on the on the field and in the meeting rooms he's been able to kind of function in a couple different roles for us whether he's inside or we choose to play him outside uh he's done a real good job and I think like all rookies he's really embracing just improving and learning from some veterans in the room that are a great example to him not only on hey what the plays are and how to run the routes but how to be a professional daily and uh he sure has been very uh enjoyable to coach so far and he's working hard and and he's a player that I think is getting better every day Chad I know that omari's been around the block for a while but you know his name's linked to these these uh reports about about the IU trade um do you have to talk to him at all or is does he sort of under I mean one of those understand the you know the business side of things yeah I mean I think our I think our team in general has done a great job here under Kevin's leadership of just ignoring all the outside noise I really believe that you think back of some of the challenges that we've had in recent years of some of the things that have been outside of our building like everybody hases every team goes through that where you have noise outside the building this team at the Browns has done a great job of ignoring that noise and just focusing on the job uh at hand and today is to have a great practice and and have great walkthroughs and great meetings and I can speak specifically for the wide receiver group uh their focus and their attention to detail and what they're bringing to the table as far as their work ethic every day has been outstanding CH we always hear about omari's leadership in the locker room hear players what has he done young receiver crew this espe back yeah Amari I mean we all know Amari on the field we can see that you can see it on tape you can see it on TV but what people sometimes don't don't realize about Amari cuz he doesn't say a lot right is how strong of a leader he is for our team and specifically our younger players that are in the room you take a rookie like Jamari thrash who has the opportunity to learn from Amari and Amari is very willing to provide his insight and not only again the way in which you do things on the field but maybe more importantly that for development of a rookie player is how to do things off the field how to conduct business in the meeting rooms um you know how to build relationships with both your coaches and the players and your teammates so omari's leadership is very strong despite not being a at times a very vocal person Chad when you talk about um asking the receivers to do a lot do you feel like this system is different than others where maybe other teams don't ask their guys to use yeah I really feel good about our system in place now because you know it it takes uh players to be very multiple uh in their roles and that's why we've really gone out and tried to find versatility in Our receiver group because the you know more versatile they can be obviously we can move them across the formation we can do different type of routes with them where they might have a couple options on some of these routes so it's been very enjoyable working with Coach dorsy uh and and you know merging some of the things we've done here in the past that have been good with some of the new ideas and it's been very refreshing that way both for the coaching staff and the players Chad watching like some of the one-on-one matchups between your guys and the DBS it definely looks like some of the most competitive portions of practice just from the other side like how tough of of a test are those Defenders Denzel Martin giving yeah I just I just came in the room a couple days ago and I said this is awesome for us as receivers to be able to face the competition we are on a daily basis I mean you know we we're able to do a lot of crosswork with our our secondary here at the Browns whether it's a release drill after practice or work in one one-on ones or obviously once we get into team settings and um have a tremendous amount of respect for our defensive guys and our secondary and it's really what an opportunity that is for us to work against those guys and they're great teammates our our defensive guys are great teammates they share things that they might have seen in our route hey maybe do something different here there so that's the one thing that not only are they good players but more important than that our defensive guys are great teammates to the receivers you guys are running these Choice routes how much does that put on the quarterback and receiver to make sure they read things the same way yeah the choice routes obviously you have you know different choices whenever you have choices in anything in life or on the football field there's you got to be on the same page and you have to base your decision and your choices off of various factors right so the quarterback and the receivers have to be on the same page and it doesn't happen just overnight it's a work in progress that's why it's been great not only on Choice routes but it routes in general to see our group work so hard at the greenb and then come back here to Berea and work so hard on the field to be on the same page on our route running and uh with the quarterbacks I know there's a featured guy for that but I mean at any given time you have a number of guys running those routes on on the same L yeah I mean there's this this offense right now is is we're given some flexibility on some of our routes to run different uh choices and have different options on the route route and you know most of our pass routes in general require a lot of detail uh and there's choices in routes when you don't have choices you know whether you have a press Defender and you're releasing on a conversion or you're running the route so that's why we want players that can function mentally and be so uh you know good mentally and and have strong mental and be able to function in multiple position roles that's why Andrew Barry and the Personnel Department have done a great job for us of going out and getting guys that fit what we're trying to do smart guys that are Dependable that are putting the team first and and you know some of those decisions on Route running you have to put the team first you know you might not want to hang a left when you you're trying to get open the other way but you know you're trying to get someone else open so we have Team guys in the receiver room and I'm really proud of that good good thanks guys thanks guys
