it it feels like quite often in the media perhaps maybe fans as well are quite quick to criticize Chelsea because they're doing something which is a little bit different but if if you're trying to build a case for them relating to what David what you relating that to in terms of who's critical of Chelsea I think there is a feeling when you when you're watching anything you're listing anything that that people are are sort of dismissing what Chelsea are doing more than I've dismissed Manchester United over the last seven or eight years or we've dismissed other clubs that have recruited badly that have made poor decisions that have played badly and achiev they might say this isn't poor recruitment they might say this is actually part of the the big the grander project which is to build this most extraordinary collection of of young players with amazing potential we one one thing we do know is that they have recruited badly because there are players that they recruited two years ago that they've tried they're trying to get rid of so they have recruited badly what you're saying is they may now with this latest wave of recruitment have recruited well I think that remains to be seen but it does feel a little bit chaotic it does feel a little bit bizarre some of the contract lengths that are being given it I I ask the question quite regularly what is it that they know that the rest of football doesn't know so smart clubs like Real Madrid Bayern Munich Barcelona Arsenal Manchester City what is it that this group of owners know that the rest of football doesn't know I'm still asking that question I still haven't got the answer and then you relate it to things like well okay it's for amotization it's for ffp it's for sustain ability rules no it's not no it's not because Cole Palmer nine-year contract was already at the club they'd already bought him so there's no real benefit there I don't think in terms of amotization or sustainability they believe in this method I think shalar a player who came through the ranks got a six sevene deal they now want him out him out so that's another what I would call alarm Bell how they treating players to get them so I think there are some things that look it may work in the end DAV and to be fair we will love great football if it does work but there are some things that you look at the question is where where is the end is it this season next season or we talking about 10 years time and I actually think they could have a decent season if the coach gets on the right side of it he's not going only have to coach don't know why if I was a player I would look at that Chelsea proing why why would you sign the only reason why you would sign is because someone might say your agent might say we're getting a 7-year deal on big money that's guaranteed money for 7 years is you know what I'd say back yourself as a player sign a four-year deal at a proper club and back yourself to do well and then when you do for a renewal your money goes up anyway I don't understand why players if you back yourself as a player anyway Jamie and you saw the list of names that are there and you're saying I could be part of that part of what Young exciting team it could be it's not a young exciting team you've bought xia Felix right tell me where he's going to play they've order they've signed Netto a week ago where is he going to play when you've already got Cole Palmer so so can't you play those three can't you play where would you so where would you play Enzo Fernandez 100 million pound player who played number 10 where would you play unu so what I'm saying is great football teams need competition but every football team I played in there was seven or eight players who knew they were playing every week and then you've got six or seven players who were fighting for three positions and then you've got another six or seven players in a squad who know the squad players that is a healthy Squad what Chelsea have got right now you're asking where Xiao Felix is going to play you know what I want to ask you where is he going to get changed at the training ground I'm deadly serious I where are these people we if You' got 40 players how are they all in one dressing room how are you putting a training session on as a manager we SE the first the first cracks in this early stage of this season Sterling I I own a football club and know how challenging difficult it is diff completely different level but it's hard work recruitment is the most difficult skill but there are certain things and I I wouldn't criticize them for recruitment for being bold and going signing players what I would say is that and it's probably a wider problem in football when you're treating Connor Gallagher shalar and players like that that have come through the ranks who've been at the club since they were kids and you're trying to get them out and force them out that's heartbreaking that's heartbreaking for me as a player who came through the academy at Manchester United you did it at Liverpool imagine if that's what was happening at my club I'd be absolutely devastated so there are certain things that are happening that are wrong out of desperation to cover up for the errors that have been made previously to allow them to sign more players so there are certain things that are happening that are wrong they have signed a lot of young players that are talented on Long contracts you don't need to sign a player on nine years or eight years to control a player you don't you genuinely don't the reason you don't is because if the player fails you will need to get rid of him it could be difficult to get rid of him if the player succeeds the player will want a new contract and the money that he will earn anyway respective whether he's got four years left five that's why Cole pal have to sign a new contract so the reality of it is you're always going to have to upgrade the contracts or you're always going to have to try and get rid of them there is no benefit that I can see whatsoever so look mesa's got a very difficult job I think he's got a lot of talented players but car's just gone through enu Sterling madw mudrick Netto xia Felix all these players they've got six goalkeepers The Boy Sanchez yesterday looked like a nervous wreck now that might be because of what's been asked of him in terms of the playing style but it also might be the fact that he's being undermined by the fact he's got goalkeepers all around in the dressing room there's five of them next to him he's thinking if I make a mistake here I'm done and I know how it works for goalkeepers that are trying to prove themselves it's not easy so I would expect internally in the dressing room with what Raheem Sterling obviously did yesterday as well there is obviously unease in there somewhere could that be the first of many statements from players at Chelsea could it be Ben chilwell next or carne CH wo both seem to be told that they can leave as well well you know what forget Chelsea these every player now's got a A Team around them a PR they know the the Raheem stalen thing yesterday I thought was it was a joke was embarrassing for Rim uh and I love Rahim I know coming through at Liverpool it hasn't quite worked out for him Chelsea but that is a completely different situation from Conor gallaga and chalar they haven't really done anything and when people start saying you can't go on the preseason tour you've got to train with the kids if you've been a good professional that's not right but if you don't make the match day squad on the back of not really performing for Chelsea and you're getting a few quid out of them as well I don't think it's any position for you to sort of be calling the shots the Raheem stering thing wasn't right but when you've got that many players you've got that many sorts of agents and people in the G background PR teams you're going to have to and that's why I don't think Chelsea can be successful you can't be successful that many players you can't create anything cohesive or a team spirit or a togetherness that you're going to need to have in the Premier League do you have a sympathy for rahee Sterling um I can never agree with a player um putting a statement out an hour and a half before kickoff because of the fact that he's got colleagues and teammates and I think you respect them forget the club forget the manager I always think that it happened with Wayne Roney at Manchester United once over you know you're our teammate don't distract from what we're doing so I think Raheem probably needs to go and have a chat with the players and say look that was that was poor timing what I would say is for Raheem who I think is a really good lad I love him to bits like car do I worked with him for a long time who he's he's experienced now and I think if he's looking at everything that's happening behind the scenes there for him to do what he did yesterday he must be seeing stuff that he doesn't like and feels like he needs to punch back and he might be punching back on behalf of himself but he may be punching back on behalf of Gallagher he may be punching back on behalf of chalab barus with the development Squad he might be thinking I've got to alert I've got to alert I've got to alert people to what's going on here the only way I can do that is through my own situation now because it is unusual to put a statement out that and I wouldn't expect rahee Sterling to have done that what's he doing then what is he's not doing that for the the team or the dressing room he's not he's he's thinking about himself he's not he's not John Terry or Frank Lampard at Chelsea looking after the club he's made a mistake his PR
