Post Game Vent and Chat | Post Notre Dame Game | The Aggie Live Show 2024 Week 2

what is up guys welcome back to the show we're not doing any kind of fancy pre-show no musical numbers I want to get right into it and be honest I'm extremely exhausted from the weekend fun time great weekend in College Station great event great showcase to the university college game day was awesome the weekend was awesome stayed up late every night went to bed 2 a.m. the night of the game spent all the day off today rewatching the game a couple times taking notes on the game put out a video you guys are going to probably see after this live show concludes I'm tired I want to hear from you guys you saw it you thought about it you felt it and now you've digested it how you feeling about the first game of the season it's really crazy it's really weird I'm not used to having this kind of a matchup as an opener especially with you know a new staff and everything new it all just happened all at once just like a just like an explosion of everything football just slapped you in the face this weekend and we're sickos we like it we lost but we're still going to enjoy it for what it is but just a lot to take in man you had the big game Prime Time game Prime Time opponent prime time slot literally a Prime Time game and you were learning everything about your team and it all happened all at once once and you lost the game you lost the football game with such a massive opportunity to start an era of football on a really really high note so between that and the fact that Connor wigman had a really bad game it just makes it really really sting but when you kind of remove yourself from that and you remove yourself from history that was a badass freaking football game guys that was a battle that was a war it was a defensive show case at times trench warfare a game of inches at times thinking about that near conversion by Riley Leonard where A&M had the huge stop they had a huge stop on a third down before that just some really good efforts on the defense but all in all Notre Dame played better down the stretch I rewatched the game and coming out of the game I thought the defensive line didn't play as well as it could have I wasn't sure about what I saw from the offensive line I really thought the dline played well I did after rewatching the game that was a matchup we were looking to take advantage of and going back and watching the game you know what they did they played really really well in their o line probably did hold their own better than we maybe expected but going back and watching it they just locked in when it really mattered Notre Dame did six minutes to go in the game 13- 13 they played their absolute best football they had a really clutch grab from Bo Collins in their o line blocked the defensive line at that point in the game but throughout the rest of the game I don't have too many complaints about the defense man there were some M tackles especially on a few select drives gave up a couple of really big plays you think about the one where jaran price got the 50 y that was a bad defensive play unfortunately you know Toren York he had the postgame interview he'll tell you he didn't play his best game and honestly it really wasn't that bad but the bad thing about Torin is I felt like he was in the center of a he was the center of the reason for a lot of explosive plays for Notre Dame on that big Jerian Price play he missed a tackle and it looked like he was going to make contact there looked like he was going to stop momentum of jeren price on that 50- yard touchdown and the secondary reacted to it and they all cut towards that point of contact but tan didn't wrap up bounced out 50- yard touchdown big play the last Drive of the game the last touchdown drive for no D of the game they played well against us but outside of that guys we have a good defense I I couldn't feel better about it top to bottom you held him to 13 with six minutes left in the game you held him to 23 points we have that to build off of offensively what what can you say I mean Conor wigman has to play better we've seen him play better he will play better right right I mean he admirable of him today to take to the podium I want to play a clip from Connor wigman today before I get into you guys with the chat I'm just talking here this be a chill unstructured video like I said pretty exhausted from the weekend still had a great time not complaining wouldn't change a thing besides winning check this out that's the wrong pitch back to my baseball days I so what next pitch I mean that's how I've always approached any sport I play like I told my teammates this morning in point blank period I have I have to be better I mean there's no excuses for how I played like like literally Point Blank period I got to be better and that's what I told him this morning absolutely not I mean I was ready to go I'm I'm 100% my mind was nowhere thinking about any injuries at all I mean I got to be better with my feet and I got to be more accurate and it's simple as that I mean I don't back down from anything I'll face ah head on I'll be the first one to tell you I didn't play the way I'm supposed to play and Point Blank period I got to be better and being back healthy I felt like I've been a leader in that locker room and everyone looks to me and I take that uh with a sense of Pride and I feel that responsibility and I hold that responsibility near and dear to my heart and and I got to be that guy like I told him this morning I'm going to step up I don't let one game Define me who I am as a person I don't let one game Define me who I am as a player and you you got to go bounce back show up to work today and let's go I mean well he didn't have to take to the podium today and he did and that's not going to necessarily win you a football game but it does feel good to see your leader the guy you're building an offense around step up and do this and talk like this I mean we haven't seen that from him before that was absolutely an outlier performance guys that wasn't Connor we've seen on top of that that absolutely is the best secondary you will see all year don't let Longhorns lead you astr I know they won't that's the best secondary probably the best defense I mean most likely the best defense you'll see all year possibly quite significantly you're not going to get that look again and that's a defense that shut down Caleb Williams that's a defense that shut down Ohio State's high-end receivers including Marvin Harrison that defense is known for doing what they did to quarterbacks combo that with the fact that Connor just didn't settle into the game right we heard him talk about it we heard Elco talk about it we saw it Conor played Rush the whole whole night he had Happy Feet the whole night he never settled into the game and that was what defined the game you know Riley Leonard clutched up he played well down the stretch he did enough it wasn't an Elite Performance wasn't an amazing performance but against a good defense Riley Leonard did what it took to win and you just didn't get that from the A&M side and you got to bounce back you got to improve so before I get in I'm going to go position by position today on this live show I'm going to give you just a few notes about every position group like I said I have a more in-depth video it's dropping right now I don't know if it's out yet it's uploading right now you'll watch that after this show I'll give you my position by position stuff here but then go watch that for more in-depth stuff and then I want to give you guys the floor this is a call-in show this is the venting show I see Jeb in the waiting room the call-in link is about to be pinned in the chat right now it's just at the top of the chat let me go ahead and pin it on my phone real quick all you have to do is click that link you'll be prompted to enter a waiting room and then I will pull you guys in to talk oneon-one and I want to hear from you guys if you want to talk about positives negatives you want to vent you want to talk about how you're feeling talk about how the team needs to progress moving forward do whatever you need to do in there I want to hear from you guys so I see Jeb waiting anybody else wants to call in open phone lines the call-in link is now pinned in the chat just click it it's all self-explanatory you'll be pulled in in the order in which you call let's say what's up to everybody in the chat and then I'll get through my I'll go position by position with you guys excessive if you're still in here I saw you commented earlier the Callin link is Pinn in the chat just click it it's going to be easy you'll figured out just click it super simple but thanks for being here Alex Flo says looking forward to next Saturday for the offense to gain some confidence yeah it's a big confidence building opportunity versus MCN you won't get definitive answers versus MCN but you can play a lot better clean things up and just play your best ball and then you'll get some answers versus Florida who looked more vulnerable than I could have ever imagined after watching them I I was going to make a bigger point about that if we had won the game but it's still a fact Florida looks bad guys really bad and going into the air I projected a win here I projected a loss versus Florida but I did say that we were going to split those two games so hopefully that's still on the table and hopefully that I get proven right in that regard jaywin says if we have one blip on the schedule that was the one let's get on a huge winning streak and put this behind us the Florida game will tell us a lot more exactly what I was just saying 100% and uh Jeb agrees John Peroni says Giga maggies thanks for being here man love the hat you like the hat is a new hat I got it's koncho hats look them up they have a bunch of styles this is is the favorite one I have they have several different Aggie Styles they're really good product really happy with it I'm be wearing this like every day of my life now Jeb says I'm mentally drained but had an amazing time in seat I'm right there with you dude I don't know if y'all can tell but I'm exhausted right now but let's talk Aggie football man you only get a couple Saturdays a week or 12 we're going to make the most of it and enjoy it no matter what no matter how tired and drained and emotionally drained we are from that performance we we take this stuff so seriously guys sitting in that stadium before the game I had not been that nervous for a football game since I was a kid I don't know it's the new era it was Notre Dame it was college game day pressure building and maybe maybe there is something behind that for Connor wigman too because you know he felt pressure you know he had you know he felt the expectations of coming back and not playing football in almost a year and having to live up to what he was supposed to be you feel like based on his body language that could have been on the table for him but he got it under his belt I that was an intense intense game guys real just being there so intense Gunsmoke says Klein's offense requires a dual threat quarterback we'll see I I I don't think he's trying to um Square shove a square peg into a round hole or anything I I think his offenses have featured power quarterbacks but there have been good things about his offenses outside of just that but we'll have to see how that goes I wasn't too concerned with the play calling guys there was opportunities in in the game versus a really good defense that Conor just couldn't connect on it's not a concern yet but we'll keep that in mind it is true he has used it a lot in his past but the best o the best offensive coordinators adapt to their personnel I liked a lot of what I saw from CL we'll talk about in a second people are saying both teams are overrated now of course they are and I was going to make this point don't listen to that that was a battle guys that was a battle if you were watching that game and you're invested in that game you think about an ugly game for A&M 2022 Miami at home turnovers sloppy bad play in that game and both teams turned out to be bad I didn't feel that way in this game between the two teams especially on the with the the defenses on the field it was a true battle guys that game was a true that game was war it was trench warfare down the stretch of the game it was an epic game it was really really good it I mean and I had neutral parties texting me in that game like this is awesome this is a crazy defensive battle not an ugly game I mean in regards of scoring points sure ugly in that respect but it wasn't just you know bad all right I was in shock with wigman that was bad wigman was bad that was the bad part of the game that was the ugly part of the game 100% Connor played horrible hope he bounces back says John yep Gary says Connor was my biggest concern disappointment he seemed incapable of adjusting his throws his decision-making was fine but his accuracy was hard yeah exactly exactly accuracy was just so bad and he did make one really really or two really really bad decisions one was the second pick where he forced the ball Under Pressure to Xavier Watts the guy you can't force a ball to that's the most opportune safety in the country that's why he's a nersi winner he took advantage of that and then the play where they were doing the um the hard count to try to draw them off sides he got Tunnel Vision on one of those on a fourth and five thought he drew him off sides they they weren't off sides and he just threw the 50-50 ball up the free play ball and turnover that was those were his bad decisions but aside from that yes it was an accuracy thing it was footwork it was just mechanics it was bad not him quarterback had all day he did not have all day he got the ball out quickly on some plays there was good blocking but he did not have all day he was flushed out of the pocket several times he was under pressure he's just a really good quarterback he's a good Scrambler and he makes things happen now the plays where he was able to get the ball out like I said those were quick passes that's how they combed it and it worked really well they still only scored 23 points guys he they it wasn't like they showcased a crazy offense against A&M they played well down the stretch he had the most protection and they had the best run blocking down the stretch of the game they had they played their best ball on the last six minutes that happened but aside from that no it wasn't a clean pocket all night that's just not the case yes Gary I kept thinking he worried about getting hurt again no matter what he said at the presser maybe it's hard to it's hard to say it's hard to say what was going through Connor's mind right we we're not in his mind we don't know exactly what Conor was going through there he just played bad that's all we know and he has to get better scorton wasn't as dominating as I had hoped yeah it wasn't as dominating as we had hoped he wasn't you know just destroying the guy every play he had moments he had a sack but I don't know if they registered it as a sack because Riley Leonard got back to the line of scrimmage he had a tackle for loss he was in the back field he flushed him out a couple times but it wasn't like that monstrous performance that we were kind of hoping for can't play worse says Gunsmoke that is true Connor cannot play worse than that that's as bad as it gets for a quarterback Chris Cobb good to see you in here says howdy everybody the season isn't over get off the ledge we will make a bowl game we will make a bowl game but we're hoping for a little more than that thanks for the the kind words Chris I appreciate that MCN won't tell us anything it'll tell us how we respond but you're right we'll need to see the Florida game for better answers absolutely noble guy says work in progress for sure good to see you man Bruce says hey Drew I'll try to call in obviously I drank too much Kool-Aid before game one yeah I think we all did a little bit I acknowledge the possibility that Connor would take time to get back into things but I didn't expect this end of the spectrum you know I didn't expect it to be that bad I guess it's always a possibility good see and here Rangers King joh says sorry about the game bro it's all good happens both teams playing hard that's football man we're not calling it the end of the world yet it's game one we're not there we're not we're not you know writing off the season or anything like that there's so much more to play for there's so much more opportunity guys all right see a couple more things in here I see David frons with his typical you know spammy negativity as usual he's a pretty tiresome commenter in these parts he's com commenting on pretty much every comment on the video I posted yesterday he has some points but he repeats them way too much and it's getting really annoying good to see you in here though no Elco defense is going two and seven is someone saying two and seven oh my God it's David yeah David's pretty close to getting banned because it's getting on levels of spamming I mean he you can make your negative points that's okay but it's just too much man it's too consistent David it's really is it's really getting on my nerves I'm seeing your name come up with the same comments too often they played man coverage the entire game then why couldn't we adjust we just couldn't make anything happen we just were inaccurate the whole game they were able to do that and stack the box and we were able to find some success running but not enough because they were just Manning up and stacking the inside tough loss on Saturday but we improved on and on no doubt good to see you roelly SB hustle says I get Connor didn't play all that great but our receivers were hardly open at all dude had nobody to throw the ball on to in so many plays yeah they were blanketed most of the game but when they weren't he wasn't getting them the ball really good secondary but you couldn't take the opportunities that were there within that good secondary Notre Dame came across as more season andm mature which surfaced in the fourth quarter we did have things to be encouraged about absolutely that's that's exactly right they just played better in the clutch of the game all right guys I already see four callers waiting so we're going to get straight into the call-in show thank you guys so much for being here I see 54 people in here and six likes if we can get those likes up to 20 that would help a lot but I really really appreciate you guys coming in it's y'all's show call in then I'm going to give you the floor we're going to start with Jeb Jeb how's it going man what's on your mind how you feeling Bud F first off who is that David fron guy he's annoying as what he is man he's is that a real person you think I don't know man I don't know that could be a troll yeah he keeps saying it's gonna be similar to the 0308 season two really bad years from I can remember from A&M football history yeah but no judging from what I saw from that team Saturday that team is nowhere near as bad as those teams no not at all not at all there was too much positivity out there there are there are good aspects I mean the o line played pretty well I thought yeah oh dude I went back home and we watched the game um I was very impressed with the o line I really was I mean they the run the Run blocking plate was pretty well the pass blocking I mean as good as you can imagine yeah on third I saw on third Downs they rushed every third down and I guess Conor just got Happy Feet every time they did that yeah yeah oh they rushed and even if there wasn't pressure at at the eyes of a rush he was getting Happy Feet and even on a clean pocket he was rushed he was just playing rushed the entire time absolutely man it was almost it was almost a perfect weekend I got my ticket last minute for dirt cheap went to College Station had my we took my friend's truck and we rode our bikes through campus easy way to get around that's the best way to go about it yeah yeah that that that is the best way and I I I traded my ticket in last minute I sold mine on like a week before the game yeah and I ended up buying better seats for cheaper than I bought the Orin dude I was gonna say the biggest losers are the ones who paid $600 for the ticket yeah yeah guys I just banned David's in a 30- minute timeout and if he comes back with the same thing he's getting a permanent ban for no we're not we're not going four and a we're not going three no that's listen um he's making look bad dude he's he's he's he's a bad look but anyway continue sorry yeah man I mean man where do I begin I mean Conor man geez I mean I knew I knew we have some struggles and some Growing Pains but man that was that was terrible I don't know if he's just the moment was too big for him or if he was just nervous I mean there's really no telling yeah I honestly I the moment might have been too big for him I mean I'm not I'm not as a character flaw but as just you know a quarterback coming back to play after a long time everything buing up I mean so much on his shoulders and then just never sett into the game that could have played a role get uncomfortable he looked uncomfortable the whole entire game the thing is is like man I mean the receivers weren't really helping them out either I mean the separate I've never seen in a long time I haven't seen our receivers get clamped down that bad in a long time yeah and there was a world where that was going to happen with that secondary man that's one of that's a top three two secondary in the country right there that's it's themer Michigan I think I think that's were the best two secondaries and they did their job but after rewatching it even there were Windows you had to to take you had to take over there but you couldn't that was the biggest problem I think I'm more impressed that our offense was that bad but the game was still close right right I mean that's a testament to the defense they played really well man there were a couple of bad moments defensively where you took bad angles and second got lost but I think for the most part they really held their own man they really did oh yeah I was very impressed with the secondary I mean they did as good job as they could um the only issue I saw with them is at times they struggled to get off blocks a few times same thing with the linebackers but the defense they play as good as game as you can imagine I mean they just got gas at the end I think I knew the game was over when it was 1313 and we went we got the ball back our defense made a huge stop we get the ball back and we go three and out yeah it's like oh no man so I I by then it's like yeah I I think now I will say this this is probably an unpopular opinion I feel like Conor wigman's been here for a long time and he's played very few games um I haven't seen too much I I know everyone was hyped about him I just haven't seen too much from him yet I mean we all know he played very well in the Miami game last year despite getting destroyed but in that Alber game he didn't play very well either before he got hurt it's true so I think with Conor I just think I have to see more of him and and I'm confident you know I'm I'm I'm a believer that he can play well we we'll know more in the Florida game I think yep if those same struggles happen in the Florida game a lesser team from what I've seen Saturday when they got humiliated by Miami I think if he continues to struggle I think you have to take a look at somebody else possibly or or have that conversation yeah I I I hear you and I think that's a few weeks down the road to have that conversation I'm not there yet I still think he gives you that ceiling but yeah I mean if this keeps happening and this is what it's going to be you have to and maybe not that soon maybe not that soon let's say you squeak out a win against Florida okay yeah we keep going with them but I think down the road if we lose and we lose to Arkansas Missouri and they struggle I think you have to consider it I think you have to I'm just not I'm I mean that's kudos to you for bringing it up I'm not having that discussion yet I'm not there yet I want to see more before I even bring that but this gonna be a tuneup game the guy I was very disappointed with was Noah Thomas I very disappointed with him I got to the point now where I have to see it yep I'm not hype on him I I like Jay Walker a lot better and Jay Walker was a lot better in that game he got open Noah Thomas dude you're 66 man you gotta be better than that yeah and there were a few one-on ones where I I I saw on rewatching the game when you got the good angle to see the the secondary and what's going on out there because you don't always get to see that where there were there were plays I would have liked to seen Connor try to Target Noah on one-on ones and see if he can get some 50-50 balls he just didn't get the opportunity we only had like two balls over 20 yards down the field in the whole game it just we weren't even trying it and that last play when they threw that slant to moss on fourth down like dude I don't mind the play call but you gotta give it to your bigger body receiver you can't throw a slant to your slots yeah on the outside yeah like dude you gota give that ball to Walker or somebody I mean just yeah man there's a dude there was a lot of Irish fans out there I thought there was a good amount I mean it wasn't like uh who has more I don't know it wasn't like a takeover or anything but they they had a good representation they got a good before the game and there t of guys out there yeah I was disappointed with York Thomas I mean I I do believe they'll play better yeah oh did I lose you did I lose you JB yeah can you hear me yeah I got you back yeah I mean we're gonna play with n that's gonna be a tuneup game yeah a confident game but I think Florida I I feel a lot more confident against Florida now yeah but and I just hate all the rattling of other teams other teams are already talking dud the is talking I'm like dude y'all played cupcakes your first matchups everyone scored 70 everyone's High I get it man yall you know yall killed your opponent but Notre D's gonna be a good team I think I think soy Leonard is he he's better than I expected I mean when that dude took off I mean he got six seven yards every time he took off he was hard to bring down yeah yeah no I mean just got to remember the man that defense is legit they shut some players down oh yeah we did a good job we ran the football on them we did a good job secondary was their secondary is obviously killing us but we had push on their defensive line and linebackers We Did Moss had a good game Daniels looked really good he did in a spell roll it's it's clear that Moss is running back one he's the feature back that's how this yeah yeah I wanted to see more of uh you know I know Green dressed out but I guess he didn't play he play he's not ready I just don't think he's ready in the GL a camp I had a feeling he wasn't going to play early man he just looks heavy he looks like he needs to get back in shape that knee he's not going to be confident in it for a while I think maybe mid year you might see him get some looks I I didn't bring it up the tight ends yet I didn't think they had that much of a game there was not there was a lot left to be desired from that tight end room in the block yeah we kind we kind of figure with that where where's our other guys at I didn't see I don't know if Garrett Miller still on the team I don't know if plat still on the team we heard Miller was battling injuries through Camp plat didn't play we saw Cal we saw Theo and we saw obviously Trey Watson had that one grab early had that one catch and they just kind of went away from it but yeah and what I feared about Watson was that he wasn't physical enough to handle blocking in Klein's scheme and that that came us a couple times he got he got kind of blasted by linebackers a few times and the running Lanes kind of got messed up by him not holding his water there so that's a bit of a concern but like I said best defense You'll Play all year right there you can only it only gets better from there got though I know it was G wrenching man I know we're all disappointed right now but I don't think and Billy Luchi made this point which I believed him he was like if we do lose this game it's not going to be the end of the world like I know Aggie fans are gonna like panic and they're gonna say the sky is falling but no man like yeah we're we're obviously disappointed because we had a chance but it's not the end the world there's still a lot of games left yeah yeah now now for one and three then we might start panicking oh yeah let's see this play it's the whole season is defined by how you respond to this one loss but all right Jeff I got a bunch of callers I appreciate the call man Mo the next gu one last St player of the game Tyler white oh yeah I haven't mentioned it yet we have a good punter again hell yeah our special teams played great oh yeah I mean two for two B was Bond was good noock kicks oh yeah the kick off team was good yes absolutely everything was solid busy got a solid like nine yard average on everything he got positive yards he fielded well we'll see him hope to see more of him in the MCN game yeah we will he's going to get come into his own he needs to wear a tighter undershirt though cuz they dragged him down by that that that saggy under shirt anyway all right Jeb you have a good night thanks for calling all right man later all right let's do a couple chats and we'll get into the next caller play to win Noah to Wavy says Drew I had such a bad experience I was surrounded by Notre Dame fans at the game when they scored that first touchdown some Irish fans behind me poured beer all over me and was yelling in my ear that's a punch in the face I'm getting kicked out of that game if they're pouring beer on me if it's on purpose if it's an accident maybe we'll have a a star down but that sucks man I'm sorry it sucks when you sit next to drunk Rowdy fans I don't drink at games anymore I just don't want to put my myself in that situation I feel for you man that sucks I hear some of y'all talking defending Connor's performances yes he's had two good SEC performances and yes those two picks against Miami were not his fault we've seen enough glimpses to have faith in him to be the guy but we haven't seen it in a consistent stretch yet for a season that needs to start next week and extended to Florida for sure all right guys thank you guys for being here if you could drop a like I'd greatly appreciate it let's get into the next caller play to win you're on with Drew how you feeling man what's on your mind hey Drew happy uh Happy Labor Day thank you happy Labor Day to you too okay buddy um yeah just a few thoughts uh yeah Connor it was mediocre uh I think there was nerves involved I think you know I'm playing Notre Dame not playing MC yeah you know and uh we Texas A&M seemed like a team in a dark room looking for the light switch Yeah we gotta find it we got to find it and they were trying to find their Niche and it was hard uh I think you know the the competition was great and uh you know I think we missed a lot of blocking schemes uh but you pay more attention to the big play you more the quarterback the tailback I'm really uh disappointed in the play calling of Colin Klein I really thought that he should have mixed it up a little bit better too many running plays uh you know did you see a screen I never saw a screen one set up for a screen left flat right flat uh never saw any uh you know throw out to the Swing Man or the wide receiver we call it Swingman in high school but you know wide receiver and then throw it downfield to a receiver I mean something to throw them off to to keep them off balance and you know just keep running the same play over and over and I'm like dude uh you know run first down run second down oh what we got to do now we gotta run We Gotta Throw yeah we gotta throw third down third and long uh you just telling the defense what you I mean it's basically just giving away well we got to throw you know and and you know make 10 yards you know to get get the first down or whatever the down situation was so I'm I'm really kind of disappointing colins's play calls uh I think I think my reaction to that I'll push back a little bit I'll agree that we I would have liked to see some screens and some more stuff to get people in space but as far as leaning on the run the way I thought about that down the stretch of that game they they passed more early in the game than late I think late in the game they realized this was a defensive battle and both defenses were getting stops and when you were in the wrong side of the field Connor wigman was throwing interceptions Connor wigman was off he was inaccurate I think they were just ready to play that field position duel and that's how I kind of read them kind of getting vanilla down the stretch of that game you are having way more success running your receivers weren't getting open best secondary one of the best in the country the way I read that play to win was that they were trying to win that field position battle and not have a game-changing turnover two of which you had already had early in the game that's how I read that I I liked some of the play design I really like the the snap the the clap Cadence that really worked in your favor a couple times uh they need to execute better with it because they got themselves in trouble trying to draw them off sides half the times you it worked half the times you screwed yourself with it I liked a lot of what I saw but there's going to be a curve a learning curve here the the players need to learn the The Playbook obviously but these coaches need to learn how to put these players in the best position because they're also learning the group so it works both ways but yeah that's how I read the the the the they faded the passing game late that's how I read it it's like we're in a defensive battle don't turn over don't put yourself in a bad position yeah but yeah exact and U going back to the the the uh the rush calls is's calling what you know Run play after another because the the passing Lanes weren't really working right right you know he goes okay well let's go and and that's why so many uh running plays or something like uh you know more play action I didn't say play action there wasn't a lot of play action you're right yeah I stats but it didn't feel like a lot of play action I did yeah I wasn't seeing it and uh also uh something like uh you know uh tail back lateral to the quarterback and then throw it downfield just you know hey just go out for the pass bro you know and then the tail back goes up you know he takes off he think it's run you know to fool him and we're trying to fool the defense that's what we want to do toss back to the quarterback and throw it downfield and I'm like where's that where's the any kind of deceiving plays that we need to run that's true that's true you know and that's why I'm I'm just disappointed Colin if you're listening I was disappointed in that but I know I think you realize he knows yeah he know look what didn't work what work we got to put this thing together against MCN and figure out a better offensive scheme yep so that's what we got to do but I think it was a lot a lot had to do with nerves but I'm proud of each and every one of our players they look man they played a tough game because a lot of our players were going down you know with injur I mean look oh KN a something there ande the knee you know even Vince Bary used to say that he said it's the knee it's always the knee you know and it was scary to watch you know I'm like oh my God you know and you know the first one goes down I get nervous you know oh no uh it was aough it was a tough uh physical game you know Notre Dame came out on top yeah okay well we got to regroup and we I think we'll we'll get better next couple of games I'm pretty certain absolutely absolutely yep and you got a good blank canvas to really get that offense honed in next week and then what seems to be an easier opponent in Florida after what they showed versus Miami so you have time to get it right but you have to do it you have to push forward you can only imagine it'll get better but play to win I got callers backing up I appreciate the call we're GNA keep him shorter tonight thank you so much for the call but later man all right moving right along to Seth you're on with Drew what's on your mind tonight Seth how you doing oh you're muted you got to hit the mute button there you go how you doing man can you hear me yes sir man thanks for calling in what's on your mind Hey first of all I know we talked about the offensive scheme a little bit already um some of the things I've heard a lot of people uh are saying that they felt like the scheme felt like Jimbo's offense what do you what do you feel like that I think some of the stagnant and the ability to unability to move the ball down the deep down the field felt like that but I feel like this looked very different from what you would see from a Jimbo offense 100% agree with you I think the results you know were Jimbo esque just getting stagnant and that might have been by way of just the competition you were playing against and how the game shook out because a good defense will take you out of your offense but no what I really liked about the offense and I I agree a lot of what play the win just said not a lot of play action not a lot of creativity but what it was all new right every even the Baseline stuff is new and like relatively creative to what we've had before I really liked the alignment I liked how they got to the line of scrimmage early constant motion constant alignment long snap counts and they're feeding Connor wigman information through the headset monitor headset coms communication whatever auding giving reads until 15 seconds left I loved the pre- snap of the offense I loved what they were doing there I loved how they gave the offensive line a chance to gain the upper hand by changing the Cadence I love the formations they did a bunch of Stack receiver looks they did a bunch of receiver motions they ran to the motion they ran away from the motion it felt distinctly different from Jimbo in that regard but like I said they had to vanilla it up down the stretch because the passing game just wasn't there and it became more risk than reward so they did end up running a lot of Zone run which is what Jimbo did a lot down the stretch and it worked a little bit you did that on your on your scoring drive you you had a couple of big plays on Zone runs but you also saw some of the Klein stuff some of the pin and PS a lot of power runs it wasn't Jimbo's but the end result felt Jimbo esque and that stagnation and just you know he ended up just leaning on the run and kind of nickeling diming nothing down the field but it's a really good defense you know it's hard to say that was by design that they take you out of your game uh I think the second thing I I feel like and maybe this is a weird comparison Connor's performance uh reminded me of kada early on in the season yeah um the inability to stand still and deliver accurate passes he's got such a good arm but uh how do you feel about that comparison do you think that we need to give him time to settle in or do we just at some point just sa to pull the plug if we're three or four weeks down the down the down the stretch because obviously kada figured it out uh after that Alabama game he looked better against missou it's teams but yeah um no it's a good comparison I I definitely see it I Kaz would always get those choppy feet pass while he's backing up and just never felt secure and shve himself in decisive in the pocket and I I don't know if that aspect was as bad as kada just the the the the choppiness and the unsure of himself look that he had but that was definitely part of it his feet weren't set it wasn't like that back pedal that kada did but it's a good comparison just inaccurate throwing balls lasers into the dirt lasers over the top of the head of people um yeah it's a good comparison and look I'm not even thinking about benching Connor right now but you said three to four weeks down the road if it hasn't changed by then absolutely absolutely at that point but I'm not even close to that at this moment um uh one of the things that I see a lot of people saying is that the fan base is too supp for a team that doesn't perform do you think that not showing up to football games and and not supporting financially and not being bought in to the team even when we don't have the success that we like is something that can help improve a team or is it something that you think that is a negative oh where's where's the line on that yeah I just don't see how that helps man it's both teams playing hard that was a good team we played against you're going to lose football games it's not going to happen overnight I mean sure it'd be great to go out and Win Every Game right and you know if you have a disaster of a year maybe it's a different conversation but the fact that that's coming up right now after one loss that's just that's batter daggies man it's it's a bad look we're not there and no I don't think that helps because sometimes you just can't win a game and sometimes you're just not there it takes a lot of things going right to win a football game to build a winning program and you know what losing one game at the start of a coaching tenure doesn't mean you're going the wrong direction it really doesn't it's going to be about how you respond to it and I think talks like that that's just knee-jerk that's just people not knowing how to deal with losing and you know quite frankly people people are annoyed with losing I mean it's there's been a lot of coming up short for A&M fans over the last for a while and I get that but that's not it that that's not where it's at the program needs your support it's not going to get better if you neglect it or you know withhold funds or anything like that I think that's crazy talk yeah I think that you just put your team further behind the eightball if you can't if you don't support them in a way that um financially or by showing up who wants to play for a team that nobody shows up for yeah absolutely I mean you got to take your lumps man this is going to happen you're not paying for wins really you're paying for a program to be built you're hoping that the program gets built over time you know all these resources you put x amount of dollars and time and money into it you're not that doesn't equate one to one to victories that's overtime that's building culture that's recruiting that's everything and it takes time and we have a new coach right now and you got to let it play out man I hate that those things are coming up right now uh I think the last thing a lot of people are talking about uh Conor being incompatible with Klein's scheme obviously Klein likes more of a running quarterback yeah um K is more of that pocket passer type um I think the big question is obviously we picked up Klein I think he's going to be a good offensive coordinator for us but I don't think this team necessarily is built to run like a Kansas State offense we don't have the tight end Ruma who we were talking about earlier um and our best quarterback is is is not a not a mobile guy uh how much of a rebuild do you think we have on our hands at this point you know we have a lot of talent but the concern that I have is that we may still be two or three years from having the team that we need to run the offense that that we want to run it's an interesting point and I think we definitely need more context against different levels of opposition to get the full picture there but the best offensive coordinators can do what they want to do with whatever Personnel they'll adapt and a lot of what Colin Klein does that makes him so special is what he does with the offensive line and you have decent bodies at the offensive line right now and they played well in the first game I thought I think he can adapt man I think he can and you know what Connor can run a little bit I think they can still make it happen with Connor running especially as he gets more comfortable they get more comfortable with each other I think you'll see it I think you saw it a couple times one of those go line plays was a Connor wigman um it was some sort of power run I don't remember off the top of my head I think they'll still do it some but he's going to adapt and I think it's too early to write that ship I think we have to see it play out give us a couple weeks and then we'll reevaluate that and see what he does I think I I agree yeah needs needs some more context there but I mean it's an interesting point something to keep an eye on for sure and yeah I think the tight end blocking capabilities are a little bit concerning let's let's see how that plays out keep an eye on that too uh because that's such a key part of his offenses but as far as the creativity of the offensive line that can be there regardless man all right well thanks thinker michle absolutely SE thanks for calling hope you'll call back in soon later all right moving right along we got calls back up so we're going to get right into the next one noble guy you're on with Drew how you feeling man hey um you know it sucks to uh uh be right about your own team when you don't predict the great things I know I predict score to be 20 to 17 but that was way more optimistic than I originally thought I think the initial concerns of um the wide receivers that we've been talking about all off season really showed its head and then yeah uh thought Conor would need you know a little bit didn't realize he would need a you know a second game to make an appearance but I guess that what happened you know um uh I think um and I think it'd be fine I think as much as we can criticize you know like it was it was worse the mediocre play as call what it was it was like absolutely detrimental to the team um really made worse plays than good plays throughout the the game but um we need to calm down like he's uh we don't even need start to think about benching him because that that's a ridiculous thought like there's there's a reason why he got the starting job over the other two and they like the coaches I've seen way more reps than we have and it's just one game under you know his first game back off injury and uh against probably a top three defense like you said definitely a top two secondary yeah um was disappointing that we didn't take advantage of excellent o line play that was among uh the other questions of how much improvement because that we all felt like there was gonna be improve how much and I think they you know they passed the test really well I wasn't perfect but they did their job well enough and we um and quite frankly and I think I've said it before um the everyone did their job well enough to win the game except Conor and there's nothing we can do about a non-conference game um I have made an argument that like uh maybe with a 12 team playoff like it's more important to stack wins rather than even impressive wins uh in my opinion so like it's you know I'm sure everyone enjoys you know Premier matchup but I think at least from this ay I'd prefer a you know we play MCN State week one kind of vibe yeah yeah especially under a new staff and you know there are benefits to playing Notre Dame you get your lumps out early you every Mis every deficiency gets magnified you know exactly what to hone in on and you go from there man yeah it would have been nice it might have been a different story if you played MCN first honestly you get that first game Jitters out of the way for Conor you get to walk on to Kyle Field full and rocking with all the eyes watching you in that level of a game it could have made a big difference it's a really good point but there is also a path where this team improves mightily from that because you played such a tough team in game one you put that all on film and like I said everything's Amplified everything's on tape now yeah yeah I agree um I guess and this will help calibrate the uh you know expectations for the season is um I just don't and we don't know uh well I just don't know if we have the wide receiver weapons to take the top off of any team yeah uh this will be the best defense we face until the end but the problem is we're GNA F to face a lot of good offensive teams yep late in October and November and um you know our defense will do the job but like like they can't be expect it to hold damn forever for sure and yeah you'll play better offenses than that for sure now those teams won't have better defenses they'll have much worse defenses in the case of Missouri and LSU but you know they're going to test you on the other side so you gota you got to meet somewhere in the middle man it's it's literally all gonna I think the receivers can be good enough to run Colin Klein's offense with Le'Veon moss and the offensive line if they build off of what they just did I think you'll have a serviceable offense and I think you still have a path to be a top five SEC defense if not better than that I think that's still there and that could be a recipe for Success it really can be I think we put enough on film defensively to feel pretty you know that optimistic about that that likelihood do you agree that defense can be that good yeah I was disappointed I agree what you said about the defensive line played well uh and then credit to um the OC over at NRE Dame he he knew it and he got the ball out quick they got the ball out quick yep um because like oh get props left tackle against Nick Gordon he held the line as much as he could didn't give too many bad plays but I mean Nick squ was getting his eventually um just didn't show up on the stack sheet um stack sheet yeah so um but no I think the defense will will carry the water for the team it's just uh let's see because we don't have a um right now obviously I think our defense is the identity of the team we need to see what kind of offensive identity we have we haven't had one in three years at least um yeah probably since 2020 is our last time we had a real identity yeah just stack up behind that offensive line and go and you know what they look pretty good maybe that can be a base to build off of is I like Le'Veon I like the o line they showed some good stuff against a really good defense so maybe they can build off of that we'll have to see you're right they need to find an identity yeah I think um I think uh the loss of Ro Owens um I won't say re Ted but what could have we have done with like one more like because Ruben Owens probably most explosive back out of that field of back up out of that room and uh he wouldn't be the Bell cow by any means but he uh if you know if he slips a tackle and then you know we get a one-on one this we get a 50 yard run or something like like that you know that game obviously looks a lot different um and we're a little short-handed there but Ley Moss can get the job done I'm curious to see how much more work we'll see Terry busy will get because by all counts it sounds like he's our most explosive one of the most explosive players on the team yeah I liked busy and open field on the returns he he made people miss and then he got gang tackled on those he was able to get some yards on them there's a path for him to improve a lot and make a big role for himself and I think that could start this weekend versus MCN just to get his feet under him Jay was able to get open a little bit this game and Connor missed him a lot but Jade was able to make some stuff happen so let's see if we can build on that but yeah Noah Cyrus Allen especially moose who you know I think this is a moose thing at this point it's persisted through through two staff staffs now he's just not able to see the field I mean I'm I'm not going to get my hopes up anymore if it plays out there great if not okay I expect it at this point so yeah man someone needs to step up in the receiver room but there's time and there's a couple games to do it right now yeah I agree I agree um and I mean I think it was Haring the receivers a little bit too much but uh I don't I still think like I mean there were some routes that like you said receivers got open then he just Conor missed uh pretty badly and I'm I I won't Panic until I see a second game performance of that yeah um the real test will obviously Florida in the swamp prob he performs under pressure again because he's not gonna have any pressure going against MC state but corre maybe good thing to you know that that'll probably more like a glorified walk through um and I want to see like you know him get done you know I want to see the B stack up like 30 points in the first half and he gets out by Midway to the third quarter yeah that'd be great I just want to see him get some Rhythm too man just get some Rhythm passes get some deep balls going get the receivers open just feel good and get some just get some Groove going but yeah man we'll see what happens all right noble guy any closing thoughts today uh no I I'll let someone else get the next call and then but we we'll be all right probably a 93 season being optimistic still on the table but it's gonna we're gonna have a hard needle thread now yep absolutely all right man have a good night you too all right guys Bruce you're on with Drew what's on your mind tonight my friend hey Drew can you hear me yes sir loud and clear awesome well rough game yep uh man I got a lot I'd like to talk about but I'm gonna be quick I'm gonna run through I'm gonna run through a few things and then get to the subs I thought the O the offensive line did good MH I think you know they can get better but I think uh they were better for sure uh I thought uh the defense was really good and I think they're going to continue to get better um and like like the last caller said we didn't get a lot of sacks we didn't have a chance to get a lot of sacks correct and I think uh the defense has held up great that that uh fourth down stop was insane that was epic it was it was awesome and then our offense just pissed it away yeah that was when they had that fourth down mishap on the attempt to draw them off sides and just threw the ball away yep right after yeah that was so sad because that was the that was the game changer I mean it could have been the game changer if we do something if we score that's a huge moment but we didn't get it done on offense and um in plus fi position yeah yeah and then the secondary I thought was just great I I'm really excited about how much better they are so many weapons out there so many guys involved with the Run game out there Just Darts to the ball they got to clean some stuff up but I couldn't be more encouraged by that secondary man it was fun to watch it really was yeah and on that Big Run they got for the first touchdown yep um I think we can we can blame a lot of people that running back made some great moves he did and great cut the one thing go ahead no no no I said that was a great cut by him oh yeah I mean I don't blame torian York uh that you you in space like that with a running back that good it's hard to make that tackle that dude made an incredible move the one thing that did happen on that play that was really bad I believe it was Dez rcks was the corner and he just came screaming into the middle middle of the field lost contain and it turned into a touchdown it should have been a 20 25 yard run but the corner just totally lost contain yeah got caught on the inside and he just strolled in for the touchdown and we could have stopped it if he' have had contained but I mean that's just kind of sad 100% yeah and honestly yeah that was a really good move by the running back I wished tan could have at least touched him and slowed him down there because I think a lot of the DBS were reacting to that contact but it didn't happen because in addition you're right Rick Rick's collapsed down and he bounced it out and there was no contain out there but also where you would think there would be a point of contact with Tori in there I think that caused um Bryce Anderson to come screaming in to kind of clean up the tackle that he thought was happening there and he lost his his angle so you didn't have that layer of protection there and then Jaden Hill that was his first drive in the game and he did not look like he hit the ground running he looked like he needed some time to adjust to the speed of that game and he was not in position to make that follow-up tackle after York missed too so really three bad DB reactions to whatever happened right there but yeah credit to that running back he made a great move bounced it out and he showed great speed and he got there I mean yeah that he ran right to me in that corner that's where I was sitting in the game and it it hurt yeah for sure um I thought uh Connor's first pick he was throwing that to the right 17 no no no the first pick was it was like I don't know some kind of deep post or something or a corner to Noah it that was the first one that was the first one the second one was to Theo the second was to Theo now the one the one to Theo I don't know if you could you could tell Connor threw it as if he expected Theo to stop right in that spot and Theo kept running and then he just kind of vacated that area and the safety just came up and grabbed the uncontested play do you and then as Conor was going off the field he was kind of you know he looked kind of pissed off like like damn it why didn't he stop that's you know he's supposed to stop there I don't know if that's true but it's what it looked like to me I'll go back and watch it that's that's possible because it was a it was a mysteriously bad ball it it was it was really bad so yeah it's possible it looked really bad and you didn't have the the uh luxury of watching the replay like I did and I mean he threw it right where Theo was and Theo kept going and then it was an easy pick and then the second time he threw to Theo Theo looked lost it was a corner route yeah and I don't I don't know uh I don't know maybe maybe Theo got over some whatever he had but it didn't look good when he was in the game and they threw to him was that the pass that was kind of close to the end zone and it was on the sideline one definitely play uh Pi he was held on that play they showed a watched it and he was definitely held on that play Kirk even said oh that that could have been a call and that threw him off but Theo also didn't make a strong play on the ball there so it's kind of a little bit of both yeah yeah but yeah I want to see from Theo to I think he leaves some to be desired he has all the tools man he looks good in pads he's big he's grown he looks more muscular but a little soft and blocking and didn't make it happen receiving but you know I think he probably needs some reps we'll have to see that the tight end's a work in progress right now to me yeah for sure and and the one thing I want to get to and try to be quick is uh Connor of course we're all talking about Connor I think if Connor plays uh if he plays like we've seen him play A&M wins that game I think yeah it's hard it's hard to put a game on on one guy but when you're the quarterback sometimes that's the truth and if Connor makes like if he if he hits uh EJ Smith yeah on that little that little dump off where he's got the first down and and if he breaks the tackle he could score there's one guy in front of he just yeah and and I mean just an easy pass and he missed it I don't know what that is but and then the the interception he threw to Moss I mean to uh to Noah I mean not a hard throw either no that was and he just sailed the hell out of it I mean Noah had five 10 yards open he could have thrown rope it would have been fine yeah he didn't have to that at all yeah yep and so what I'm getting at is I think Conor yesterday or day before um I think I think he was feeling tons of pressure and I know it's his ninth game but in what other game has he felt this kind of pressure I don't think there's been a game that he felt this kind of pressure he played Auburn last year it was the fourth game of the season we were already two and one so I'm I'm thinking he's feeling the pressure he is trying to uh win the first game of his head coach's career there's a 100,000 Aggies there he's trying not to fail them um he's playing Notre Dame game one I think all of that leads me to say I think this is an out lier and I I think he's going to go back to the Conor that we've seen um so I don't put I don't put too much stock in he sucks correct I think I think that was just a an outlier and I think uh I think he's gonna play better and and you know I I uh the one thing that I do see that could be troubling is this is the third time that Connor's had the ball in his hands with a chance to win the game uh his freshman season against Old Miss they were down three I believe at the very end yep and he had the ball with enough time to go down and kick field goal and you know didn't get it done now I don't know you know I don't know you never know how much that is him and how much of it is play calling or you know receivers or whatever but uh Old Miss he didn't get it done Miami he had the ball in his hands and they didn't get it done and it was fourth down and he had throw it up and they intercepted it but you know what happened on first second third down you know so this is the third time that uh in clutch time he didn't make the clutch plays that is more troubling to me than the whole game overall so I I'm going to keep an eye on that and um and see you know see what we see but I think he will be better and I I really enjoyed the press conference today for sure I thought I thought he just the fact that he came that he came out there and looked people in the eye and said what he said I think he could have said more but you know that's probably they're not probably supposed to do that and um Elco too I mean it's so refreshing to watch a head coach just give answers instead of what Jimbo used to do Jimbo used to drive me freaking crazy with all that God awful we just got to execute yeah we gotta win the inches you know it was just a joke so um and then you know Colin Klein I thought he could have I I don't understand the play calling but again when Connor's playing like that what are you gonna do like like uh you know when when your quarterback is throwing picks that should be easy receptions how much do you want to put on the plate so yep I don't know what to think of the offense after that just that one game and Conor playing so bad and he played he played bad like it wasn't mediocre it was aw it was a bad game it was a bad game and and I think I mean obviously we've seen him do better and I think he will do better so that's what I got man yeah great call man I appreciate it Bruce you have a good night I'll expand on that once it gets you off the call have a good night man thanks bud yeah I think there's really something to the pressure of that game and in addition to everything Bruce just said Connor was also hearing how much is expected out of him how he's surging up draft boards how he might be the best quarterback in the country how he might be the best Pro Prospect in the country more specifically and how he's supposed to be this great piece for the A&M offense college game day pieces about him everyone talking about him and yeah man it's first game back in a long time and it's kind of all on his shoulders offensively new offense game one in a new system and it didn't work out for him man you got to believe pressure was involved there absolutely was and we've seen better from him you're absolutely right Bruce we've seen so much better we know what he's capable of maybe he's not as good as we had hoped but he's damn well better than what we just saw so there will be Improvement to what end I don't know but there will will be Improvement as early as the next two weeks for sure all right guys getting into the last two calls Big Mac you're on with Drew what's on your mind tonight my friend what's up how you doing man pretty good man what's going on sorry my voice is gone from the game so I'm not gonna be just recovering yeah um I think that a lot of the offensive woses were pretty easy to explain I mean Notre Dame was basically able to play Man coverage across the board with no safety help and send everybody to stop the run there was like a few plays where somebody got open no the Noah Thomas interception was a time someone got open but you know it took him five seconds to get open by that time Conor's getting pressure he's stepping up into the pocket he overthrows the guy his feet were terrible yep but outside of that I mean I don't think this is as much on Connor as it really is it's hard to throw when nobody's open I mean that's true but he also didn't take advantage when guys were open so it's it's both it absolutely is it's his feet were terrible the whole game he played Rush the whole it was both and that compounds on itself right you lose Rhythm you never find Rhythm you never settle into a game it I think it all affected him and it's yeah it's definitely on the receivers too you can't just point the Fe finger at Connor it was there were some mistakes the offensive line made some critical mistakes with false starts I mean yeah you can't just point it all at Conor that's that's totally true yeah and I you know I feel like I've watched eight or nine games of Connor where he looks like a potential firstr draft pick and one game where he was not good and I'm going to stick with those eight to nine games that I've seen it's way a way bigger sample size than this one game against probably one of the two best secondaries in the country outside of Georgia yeah um if we play Georgia we'll have the same exact issue but we even tried to call some man beaters like we ran mesh a couple times um but they were sending like uh simulated pressure and then they would drop back with some robbers and that took away the all the mesh plays so we basically had nothing to beat man outside of just our wide receiver is winning one-on-one which wasn't happening against yeah which is not going to happen against those guys yeah so I don't see and I don't see that being a problem for any game in the future there's not going to be a secondary we go up against that's going to be able to do that against us again yeah I I'm I totally agree and I'm very firm and confident in that stance there's nothing close I don't think on the schedule to what we saw and you know you might see some bigger fronts you might see some uh some more athletic fronts but that was a front of grad transfers that are just really well seasoned players too and I thought the offensive line played fine so yeah that's probably the best defense you play all year yeah it really it really is crazy if you go back and watch the game like you watch the first drive Notre Dame comes out first play they're in zone Cyrus Allen runs like a slant he's in between they're like in a cover three zone so he's in between the two guys in the middle um and Connor hits him we gain 15 yards first play that was beautiful and then they run Zone a couple more times and then they start running man that's when we stall except for one play Trey Watson runs like an out he runs like a whip route and it's a man beating rout out and he beats his guy Conor hits him we get a first down and then you know they bring pressure he throws it to EJ Smith it's like an inch away from being a touchdown yeah yeah and then after that they basically only ran man for the man for the entire game yep yep nothing we can do as far as as far as defense you know the defense was great I think towards the second half they had uh I think they got a little uh undisciplined and run fits and gaps because I think they were just trying to make a play I mean when your offense is doing nothing you gotta just go out there and try to get the ball make a play get some field position yep yep I'm still haunted by that uh will lead drop he almost had that but yeah a pick six yep yep absolutely yeah you're right man you can only hold your water for so long until you start getting desperate and playing you know kind of out of yourself and that's what we saw and they executed really well down the stretch they blocked their best block they blocked the best in the last six minutes of the game they played their best offense the last six minutes of the game they had that really clutch play by Bo Collins contested grab I mean give him credit yeah I mean yeah there's no there's nothing we can do about that game but I think in the future I think people got to calm down oh yeah relax it's one game you know it's the first game of the year they we played probably the best defense we're gonna play all year it's gonna be okay you know I'm still I'm still expecting you know Nine and Nine and three end of the year eight and four yeah eight and four is absolutely possible absolutely man absolutely what else you got that that gonna be it that'll be it all right man that was a great call appreciate it man have a good night you too great call from Big Mac all right let's get with our last caller JT man you're on with Drew what's on your mind tonight man hey Drew can you hear me okay got you live and clear awesome so um yeah at the game it was great game Power was awesome um some things that I wanted to bring up uh are more kind of future focused um you know we've got Florida coming in Notre Dame we lost against rank seven um even though they were on the road whatever um but coming up with Florida um just seeing some of the things that uh Elco and Connor said in their presser with um his feet and getting settled um in comments I've seen online about a Jimbo esque offense um we've got to start asking those questions to Florida as well you know I I after Florida's bad performance against Miami you know okay they're a bad team too whatever um but at the end of the day our our seniors are our leaders going to be able to step up in a big road game um nobody on this team has a history of winning on the road or performing well on the road um and so I'm interested to see where we end up from that point and then piggy backing off of everybody else um it it was alarming to see that Tori and York and Connor wigman were the pillars of the the team you know the two main captains on either side um and they were the ones that had underperformed um our DBS our offensive line strides better than it has been in the past but where are we going to start looking at okay you know what is carrying over from Jimbo is it just going to be Conor's you know feet is it just going to be um some of the the slow pulls or some of the slow actions from the wide receivers on the edge um where does that train get off yeah I mean remains to be seen right we have to see improvement from the guys we expected better from and yeah I would even throw Bryce Anderson into that bunch I would say of the safeties that played he might have had the worst game and the safeties played really well but I would say Bryce Anderson had a bunch of whiffs in that game but you know I find soless in the fact that those three guys tan Bryce Connor we've seen better from them before at Texas A&M and we should see better from them relatively quickly at Texas A&M you would you would think right and yeah I I made that point the entire offseason this team has not learned how to win on the road yes it's largely based on the coaching staff and how they handle the road the trip the environment the mentality so we have that going for us but you're right this team has not learned how to win on the road that's why going into the year I'm I called Florida a loss but after seeing them be as you know look how they looked you feel like you have a chance to really write that ship there and you know it takes one get that confidence get the game under your belt uh I probably feel better about it now you know when you when you take into account what we saw from A&M and what we saw from Florida I think I feel better about that game now even though we we saw the Conor that we did see I just think you you throw it all together I think I feel better about that game right now how do you feel about it do you feel any different after the week one performance Florida no um Auburn was the I I said three losses I had his winning Notre Dame um and then losing a couple more Down the Road Auburn um is the one that I've kind of highlighted on my calendar yeah um just because of their you know their History Jordan har is an incredibly difficult place to succeed in in the first place so um yeah know definitely a a wakeup call but I think that we uh I think that we start with Florida and if it looked like it did last Saturday then um you know maybe we have an opportunity to go in there and really show people something yep absolutely um my second question and you know I don't know I just saw a few plays but I know that we are not as strong as we would like to be Donovan Green being out and you know kind of some new pieces in at the tight end position um did did Klein's offense look a little sluggish just as far as the tight end play the the specific instances that I remember um we were lining the tight ends up either on the line or a little bit out wide and so it was very apparent where the tight ends were going to either be you know playing as receivers or up on the line blocking there was no real like you know get a hand on them shove them off and then break onto your route um it just seemed way more defined of a role in this outing from Klein um and that just was not something that I was expecting uh I would agree with you it it seemed very vanilla right it didn't seem like they were using a lot of deception but I think there were some good things there I it's hard to say after one game right there's going to be installation week to week we're going to see a lot of adjustments yeah it's definitely something to keep an eye on even within that really defined play I would say the tight ends played pretty poorly in my opinion I I didn't think they blocked well they didn't get open besides a couple of plays definitely something to keep an eye on and it was one of my concerns going into the so I mean I think you're on to something let's see how they adjust he doesn't have the tight end he had last year at Kansas State who was really good he just does I don't think he has that this year I think I think they could probably get Trey Watson more involved in the passing game and help him find more success there but as far as being a versatile guy that can block and be equal effective you know lined up on the line of scrimmage or out out wide I don't think you have that from Personnel standpoint I really don't but we'll have to see it's too early to tell I think yeah for sure and then um just quick one last thing did any of the injuries bother you I know nibu sadly is the only one that's going to be you know missing the season um but man some of those injuries right like sorton rolling his ankle um I don't remember off the top of my head who the other two or three were um but just those little Nicks in and things the first game um is really bothering me as well I'm interested to see how durable the team will be um and then once we get later into the season where that secondary is line I think we're okay on the secondary um but you know I mean now that we've gotten a Bo out it really changes the perspective looking at the offensive line with the past three years of History yeah you're playing with thinner ice now fortunately on the offensive line one of the good things about it was that it had experienced depth and just players that have been playing well behind the interior guys the uh injury to Reed Adams missed a couple of plays right he he he got nicked up at one point in the game Shanahan goes in and Shanahan gives the only sack of the game on a one-on-one with Howard cross and Howard cross is just he's a guy that can beat you one-on-one that's just what he does so yeah that one bothered me um overall did the injuries bother me I would say it's somewhat concerning based on our recent track record it's like Oh I thought we'd write this ship I thought the Moffet method was supposed to take care of this having said that you know football's unpredictable you could just have a bad run of injuries and that can just be what it is and hopefully it's not like that game to game so if it becomes a trend yeah definitely concerning um but but as far as what we had in game one it sucks lose the boo it sounds like everyone else is fine let's just move on and hope this isn't a trend is really where I'm at yep awesome well yeah thanks for taking the call and look forward to seeing your coverage of the other ones I got 70 plus on MCN next week so we see how that goes all right man have a good one later bye all right guys that covers the calls let's take a couple of the chats and then we'll call it a night I'm just going to pick a few out y'all have been awesome in the chat if y'all could drop a like and a sub before we get out of here we're at 57 viewers 33 likes if we get to 40 likes that'd be awesome all right I see a hannes king Connor wigman comparison look hannes King won the match of the battle in week one but I think Connor has a higher ceiling for sure so we'll have to just see how it plays out hopefully Conor is not going down a spiral he sounded very sure of himself today good presser they're going to have a great week of practice so much to coach up you improve the most from week one to week two we'll see hey Drew Notre Dame fan here wishing you guys the best of luck the rest of the year you got a really good defense and a decent offense as long as the off as long as the quarterback play gets better yeah we'll have a decent offense if the quarterback gets better we will have a decent offense but that has to happen uh receivers have to get open and I would like to see us against not your secondary but thanks for the kind words Notre Dan fans have been pretty awesome appreciate you guys as far as long as I've been making this I've had three fan bases that really stand out to me as uh really they have really big YouTube presences and they've been really cool it's these guys Notre Dame Tennessee and surprisingly Auburn has been really cool to to kind of work with y'all have been awesome so three cool fan bases out there maybe I'll reward you guys with like make a random Notre Dame pregame video in a couple weeks or something when we're playing Bowling Green we'll see we'll see what I do y'all have been cool uh let's see we retired till five minutes left in the fourth yep it was a game man it was definitely a game you were right there losing cam Coleman is still rough yeah absolutely need massive receiver upgrades in the off season I think the portal you know might be something to say say there with people trying to make a name for themselves especially if no one steps up this year in a big way uh let's see what else you guys are saying before we get out of here something I noticed during the game A&M uh might want to do background checks on the hydration team when wigman barfed it appeared to be burnt orange Gatorade ha that's funny would have made any of us barf yeah he clarified he said he got hit in the stomach and that made him puke and he got like stomach cramps so yeah I think that's what happened I think it's safe to say we'll get Connor back for his fourth year hey I hope not I hope he just shows out the rest of his year he comes back angry and just you know focuses in that he it fuels him there's a world where that happens right where a performance like that fuels you you get punched in the mouth early you hit the film room you hit practice you take everything seriously I watched those players walk off the field and obviously they weren't happy and there was no like happy go-lucky okay we're finally able to take a break at all with those guys so that's there I mean I think that's pretty human nature wise at this level of play but at least we saw that it can focus them up we can see one of the pi he threws against a wide open Noah Thomas yeah that was really really bad that was really really bad seriously looks like our team was struggling versus conditioning with Notre Dame being just fine I think the defense eventually did it's like how many times can they get a stop I mean how long are you going to lean on them they're going to get discouraged man they're going to they're going to play a lot more reps when the offense isn't helping them out with long drives yeah I I think it's I think that was more so the nature of the game than them being out of shape elos said today didn't feel like anyone was out of shape they track all that stuff I I just think it was the nature of the game Conor didn't play great but the wide receivers definitely contributed 100% 100% too many excuses for the quarterback he will get better however the great ones will find a way to win yeah I don't think anyone's really making an excuse he played bad we're not he played bad he has to play better uh receivers also played bad against a really good secondary I mean multiple things can be true I don't know if maybe other people are making excuses I don't think anybody tonight has made excuses for Connor there are reasons there are things you can point to to cause anything that happens but excuses no he had a bad game we hired stallion to C obst your water bottles that's funny y'all are y'all are crazy when we get Robby Barber we have a real chance at wide receiver one Noah could be it but he has to play better yeah he has to play better there were some one-on ones I would have liked to see him try though with some decent leverages I mean Connor wasn't very courageous but I get it he was just off he was just off I wouldn't beat up your quarterback too much both teams have solid defenses very true we won't play anything like that uh let's see what else you guys are saying I think barar is back probably before Missouri if he could get back Missouri uh you can back Arkansas he can get back it' be awesome you back Bowling Green and play that game but but yeah that's pretty soon we'll see I think busy will start coming into his own over the next few weeks guys I think bus is something to keep an eye on I think receivers have to just improve and I think they will let's see what else you guys are saying everyone saying great call to Big Mac that was a great call that guy knew ball uh nobody will be John and he set the quarterback bar too high for us says Jeb of course who do you think will be the other two losses J2 oh yall are talking to each other I I I still think you know Florida I'm going to reevaluate that I'm going to go watch the Florida game closer see how we react to MCN I think I I called us splitting Florida Notre Dame I got the I got the one wrong hopefully and we don't lose them both big opportunity to get right game that's the game you have to play well the Florida game is kind of like the defining game at this point because it's the next game that's not MCN Missouri could be a loss Auburn or even Texas absolutely man absolutely York didn't play a terrible game but he didn't play a great game either correct he wasn't bad every play but when he was bad it we really paid for it bad fits on the big play uh on a couple of big plays the touchdown run there was some decent Havoc created by on the the the love uh the late touchdown run the last one defensive line you know they did pretty well in the rushing Lanes but York didn't occupy his Gap he got washed down by in the line of scrimmage he kind of got blocked he kind of accepted blocks and he wasn't where he was supposed to be and love was able to kind of just squirt through a very very crowded uh line of scrimmage and got through that second level and scored and that was on York in my opinion think you guys will get better and better as the season goes on believe in Elco he's a hell of a coach yeah I know I I still believe I I still believe we we ran into a better defense than our quarterback had an off game and the receivers were not good against that secondary so yeah there's there's stuff to go to there's stuff to point at and look to where we can be better for sure LSU is winnable will be tough oh we haven't talked about LSU lost LSU lost good H okay we weren't the only ones great great great great I was little disappointed the lack of creativity by Klein if your pass game isn't working manufactured yards the Jet Sweep screens rpos it was a little vanilla strangely you're right all right guys I think we're gonna get out of here today all right y'all have a good night keep your head up I'll see you guys in the next one gigum e
