Minnesota Vikings Injury Update: TJ Hockenson currently ahead of Schedule!

where do things currently stand with the injury recovery for TJ hackinson well let's find out but but first hey subscribe to the channel it'd be much much appreciated so this entire offseason the Minnesota Vikings fan base us you know all of us have basically been wondering a couple different things when is this man going to get extended K Justin Jefferson uh who's going to be the quarterback we found that out K JJ McCarthy is our quarterback of the future Sam darnold most likely going to take the first start or get be the starter to start the season if you will and the other one was how healthy is T.J hackinson when will he be back on the field well thanks to hackinson there's a little update this week that won't put any deadlines on his return unfortunately here is what hackinson said via nfl.com they haven't really put a timeline on it we're just kind of taking it dayby day week by week there's just so many variables uh that you can go through in this process basic basally whenever somebody gets injured and people are wondering when are you coming back their same or basically they all say the same thing well there's just so many variables we're just going to take it day by day it's a cliche answer okay we get that we understand that we got to come on like give us a little bit more uh of your recovery and like where you're at basically now two weeks after the hackinson injury the same lion uh Lions Defender okay Kirby Joseph you little whatever uh end it Los Angeles Rams tight end uh Tyler higgy season with a very similar hit some might say he's dirty um but it's a bang bang Play It's the NFL but it did look like he went low on purpose um it is what it is right you just got to kind of take what what you're given the cookie is going to crumble how it's going to crumble okay now uh this the recovery is basically the same boat or is in the same boat as hackinson it's worth noting though that Kirby Joseph is a former teammate of hackinson so maybe you know they've had some differences or something I don't know what happened but all I know is hackinson suffered a gruesome injury ACL injury you get it okay rest is history so right now we're just in that recovery period now hackinson also added uh I'm doing really good right now we're attacking each process I'm attacking each one and it's been awesome the progression has been incredible that is something we love to see something you know when you're looking at an injury recovery how you doing where you're at in the process and if you hear well we're we're kind of you know we're lacking you know we're not we're we're we're behind the eightball if you will that's something you're like ooh that that doesn't sound good we're looking at maybe a couple weeks here of uh you know not playing and uh but when you hear something like hey it's been incredible the progress is going awesome uh and when we actually hear just a couple days ago or a couple weeks ago or something like that that T.J hackinson is actually ahead of schedule on his injury that's a massive plus now most fans I don't know who those most fans are I I never expected this expect Hockinson to hit the physically unable to perform list or the pup list as you'll hear many uh experts media experts uh basically say the officially unable to perform it's the pup list uh in September though uh that is merely speculative as of May and if that occurs Minnesota would turn to a hodgepodge of fill in tight ends including Josh Oliver Johnny Mt and Nick Muse we also have some newcomers Trey Knox and samis Reyes also live on the current 90 man roster and then yesterday which makes sense now that hackinson might not be ready to rock and roll week one we do have you know Robert tunan on the roster that there's a reason why we have seven tight ends and at first when I seen we signed Robert tun I was like what do we why we don't need a a handful we don't need you know 10 tight ends we don't playing in we I mean we can roll the season with four or five we'll be fine uh but with this hackinson injury you want to get a good look at who can be the backup so it makes sense that we signed him now last month Hockinson told reporters about his injury here's what he said obviously I wasn't too happy about it that's not a fun one to take that's not necessarily based on him as a player I got nothing against him I've played with him in Detroit and I understand that's kind of what they expect you to do in the league but on the same hand I'd much rather gone down with a concussion for two weeks than to go or than to have to go through this for nine months right I mean a concussion yes that's permanent damage to your brain you really can't get that back uh but it's a lot e or a lot quicker recovery period right you just have to pass a concussion protocol and bada bing bada boom you're back on the field within at least a week maybe two weeks pending on the severity of the concussion right so when you take an ACL or when you tear your ACL you got to wait nine months then you got to go through this rehab process trying to get full Mobility back into it then you got to you know go take some reps and try not to be you know cautious when making your cuts and stuff like that like it's really weird right like say you're riding a bike and you come in and you just just have a big crash the next time you get on that bike you're going to be a little bit more worried you're going to be more cautious of your surroundings what did I do last time so I make sure not to do that this time uh and those are some you know the training wheels that have to fall off yet again for TJ is just getting back out there getting it getting some reps uh live reps and just taking this process day by day now the veteran uh Viking T.J Hockinson also continued and said so that's definitely a conversation a different conversation but you know you can't cut Outside The Tackle Box okay that's just something you can't do doesn't really make sense why these guys are able to go as low as they are when you're 25 yards down field looking back at the quarterback and you don't have any awareness you know uh and to have that happen again two weeks later I didn't really like that so obviously the hit from kiry Joseph on T.J hackinson it seemed really dirty at the time and then it kind of just got blown away because it's like oh it's a football hit it's a bang bang uh hit and then two weeks later the same exact thing happens to Tyler higgy of the Los Angeles Rams and you're thinking oh okay so this guy is actually out there trying to hurt people it just doesn't make any sense it's stupid um you can't cut Outside The Tackle Box and like like T.J hackinson said if you're 25 yards down the field and you're looking back at the quarterback you're a defenseless receiver you don't know who's around you you're looking for one thing and one thing only the ball from the quarterback okay where's the ball coming and then all of a sudden you catch it and boom you get hit from the side or the back wherever he was Kirby Joseph comes out of nowhere he did that on purpose if Kirby Joseph was a little bit uh probably a man excuse me I know he's a man but a little bit better of a person and tougher he would have just taken him out at the at pad level you know like a like legit tackle like a a smart or a correct kind of tackle would be you get it if you played football you know head on the upfield shoulder or I can't remember off the top of my head but I know you got to have your head on one side and just make a nice clean tackle instead he wanted to go the easy route take his legs out from under him which yeah you can't run without your legs but it just it doesn't make any sense but currently as we sit right now with the TJ hackinson injury recovery update he is currently day today they're not rushing anything they're just kind of taking this progress or process day by day week by week until things get better like hackinson said uh so really not much to go on here all I've heard recently is that he is um ahead of schedule but obviously things can change during the process the recovery process and all that stuff so things could change but as of right now it seems like he's ahead of schedule but they're taking it day by day you guys let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below
